  • Same Process, Different File Sizes

My newness is surely showing but I seem to be getting different results from a very similar compression process.
Video A is 1 minute in length. I edited a long video, marked this footage as an Independent Clip, pulled it to the browser bin, then exported as H.264. The file size came out 8MB, nice and small. The source is DV, 4:3, recorded on a cheap 1-chip.
Video B is 5 minutes in length. I split a long video into subclips based on markers set by "DV Start/Stop Detect". One of these subclips I edited further, down to 5 minutes. I added an AV fade-in at the start, fade-out at the end. It's the only thing in that sequence. When I export the sequence as H.264, the file size comes out to 1GB. All variations I try on export quality and codec results in that size or larger. The source material is DV, 16:9, recorded on a Canon XH-A1 (3-chip).
I'm trying to track down what's causing such a huge disparity. Is it the quality of the source footage? The aspect ratio? The difference between Independent Clips and Sub-Clips?
I'm trying to get the 5-minute video on YouTube. I'm having a hard time uploading 1G. Any suggestions?

    Hello,
Try MPEG 4 instead of H.264 and I think you'll end up with a smaller file size. When you control click on your sequence and select Quicktime Conversion - click on settings and try adjusting the frame size too and see if that helps to make the file smaller. You can also play with quality.
I cannot answer why there's such a huge difference between those two files even though one is only four minutes longer than the other. As far as sub versus independent clips, I cannot say anything about that either.
    Good Luck,
    Richard

  • Will a sequence return same value for two different sessions?

Is there a possibility that a sequence will return same value to two different sessions when it is referred exactly at the same instance of time?

@Justin... Thanks for your insight; indeed, we too feel this shouldn't ever happen and never heard of it either, but there it is. (No, we haven't logged a TAR yet -- whatever that is -- partly because it didn't occur to us and partly because we only recently came across the issue and sensibly want to do some testing before we cry foul.)
However, the code is pretty straight-forward, much like this (inside a FOR EACH ROW trigger body):
    SELECT <seqname>.NEXTVAL INTO <keyvar> FROM DUAL;
    INSERT INTO <tblname> (<keyfield>, <... some other fields>)
    VALUES(<keyvar>, <... some other values> );
(where <tblname> is NOT the table on which the trigger is fired). This is the only place where the sequence is ever accessed. The sequence state is way below its limits (either MAXVALUE or <keyfield>/<keyvar> datatype size).
In this setup, end users sometimes got an out-of-the-blue SQL error to the effect that uniqueness constraint has been violated -- as I said, we used to have a unique index on <keyfield> -- which leads us to assume that the sequence generated a duplicate key (only way for the constraint to be violated, AFAIK). We released the constraint and indeed, using a simple SELECT <keyfield>, COUNT(*) FROM <tblname> GROUP BY <keyfield> HAVING COUNT(*)>1 got us some results.
Unfortunately, the <tblname> table gets regularly purged by a consumer process so it's hard to trace; now we created a logger trigger, on <tblname> this time, which tracks cases of duplicate <keyfield> inserts... We'll see how it goes.
@Laurent... winks at the CYCLE thing Our sequence is (needless to say) declared as NOCYCLE and the datatype is large enough to hold MAXVALUE.

  • Could threads of a same process run on different CPU in the same time ?

    Hello,
probably stupid question..., but I would like to understand if several threads inside a same process can run in the same time on separate CPU.
If the response is positive, how can I bind a thread on differant CPU using C API ?
Also what is the algorithm implemented by Solaris for the laod balancing ?
Is there any white paper on this subject ?
    Thanks for any tips

Threads in the same process can run at the same time on separate CPUs.
You can bind a thread to a CPU using the processor_bind(2) API.
That algorithm is not public. You will have to wait for OpenSolaris so that you can look at the implementation at that time.
There is much public documentation on Solaris threading support on the web. Use google. The following document provides a good historical context of Solaris thread support.

  • Subcontracting to outside  for same process for different materials

    Dear all,
We want to send 20 different materials having 20 diff matl .codes for same process like grinding to outside party.
We also do grinding operation inhouse. In PP routing we have mentioned this GRINDING open. stage.
Sometimes we get this operation done from outside party i.e. subcontracting.
We have diff. codes , then how to create & mention all 20 matl. codes in subcontracting PO though we r sending them 4 same operation ?
If we use one matl. code while sending all diff. jobs, we have to use diff. code while receiving matl.
How to keep control on rejection/rework at subcontractor's side ?
    Pl' reply........

    Hi
Create BOM in CS01 for all the 20 materials separately...
In BOM Header you give your material which you want to send it for grinding and in Component list also you give your material which you want to send it for grinding  and in Item <b>DONT FORGET TO CHECK RECURSIVE ALLOWED</b>
Because you are sending and getting back the same material.
Like that create BOM for all the 20materials separately..
Then Make PO with Item category "L"  for the 20 items and in Item Details->material data tab>components--> give the material you want to send to SC Vendor separately....and save the PO
Then in ME2O, issue all the 20 materials
Then after completion of job, get back all the 20 materials for which grinding has been completed separately in MIGO, 101Movement type.....While doing so the Old material which you sent for grinding will be consumed in 543 O -  movement type....
This is the the way we are following and we are not getting any problem...this way we can have very good control of our stock at SC Vendor's site.
    Reward if useful

  • Same query different timings , different sessions at the same time

I am running exactly the same query from 2 different sessions almost simultaneously and in one session it is taking 2 seconds and in the other it is taking 20 seconds. The explain plans in both the sessions (by set autotrace on) are exactly the same. The timing is almost same for succesive runs of the query in the same sessions. That is when I run the query again in the "slow session" it is always around 20 seconds and when I run the query again in the "fast session" it is always fast. The queries are being run within a few seconds of each other so the load on the database is almost same.
My hunch is that it is a database parameter that needs to be changed to solve this problem, can someone guide me with this ....which parameters I should ask our DBAs to adjust ? Our database is Oracle 10G.

  • SM35 - Processing the session

    Hi guyz.
I have two questions regarding this.
    1. When we process the session, is that a mandatory that the User id with which the session is created and the authorization user id be the same? Because when Iam trying to run a session from my program using submit statement, those two id's are different, so the session is showing that it is incorrectly processed. But when I go to SM35 and process the session in the foreground, it is processing well. But when I run the session in the background, it is showing incorrectly processed.
    2. One user with his user id is processing the session. When he is processing, he is getting a error which is related to some authorization issue. But when the same user id is copied into another test id and run the program then the session is getting processed well.

if authorization object is used...then the list of users who have access to this authorization object can process. In sm36 anybody can do...but in a program u have to check whether the userid has authorization or not...

  • Maintaining different sessions in browser tabs in ADF 11g application

I have a simple ADF 11g application which uses ADF BC 11g.
I want to maintain different sessions between the tabs in the same browser.
Currently it is messing up with session variables. Please reply to me ASAP.
    Thanks,

Assuming you are having problems because of the usage of JSF Session scope beans, then the answer is to use pageFlowScope for that set of data - then it is not shared between tabs.

  • ERROR MESSAGE sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated

    Hi,
i am a beginer in SAP administration, users are getting this error message and i have done all my research and not able to resolve this issue. Here are the details
    SAP Version :ideas 4.7
    Database :Oracle
    OS : windows 2003
Module user is working on MM
user working on it is a Super user with all the permissions
SAP is configure to run under the  European date and decimal format.
I have never done any database administration on it, it is a new install and has been rarely used.
User creates a RFQ and when he tries saving it , seems like for the first time after either restarting the macine or restarting the service it might work and at time it might not, this is a very sporadic error and most of the times it crashes out with the message "sap system manager:work process restarted, session terminated" and kicks the user out of the session.
Below are the details of the error message from ST22 :
name of the runtime error : system_core_dumped
below are the details of the error message and its resoltion as suggested by sap help :

  • Processing the session in background

    Hi experts,
I have created a BDC program in session method. Once i executed the program, it creates a session name.
Then i select the corresponding session name in SM35 and process it in background.
But i dont want to goto SM35 and process the session explicitely.
How to process the session in background without going to SM35 tcode?

  • Communication between thread in the same process using file interface.

    Hi,
I am developing  driver and i need to communicate between two thread.
    >can anyone guide me on implementing communication between two thread in the same process using File Interface. First thread will be driver and second will be application.I need to send IOCTL like commands using File interface ie is WriteFile(),ReadFile()
from Host process to driver through file-interface(which run's in driver context).Host process should not be blocked for the duration of the driver to process the command.
    >File-interface will run in driver context and it will be responsible to receive command from application and pass it to the driver.
    what are the complexity introduced?
    >Can anyone also give me the link/reference to get more information on this topic?
    >How to replace IOCTL command's for instance baud _rate change command with a file interface for example with IRP.

    Here  is the detailed query:
Hardware Abstraction Layer will interact with Driver(Both will be running in complete different process) .there is a IOCTL for command and  File interface for read and write.
    My requirement is:
Both should run in the same process so HAL will run as one thread and driver as another thread in the same process .I don't want HAL to wait for completion of request and also i don't want driver to be blocked .
We are planning to use a File Interface for communication between Hardware abstraction layer and Driver
HAL will send the command or read/write operation to a file interface and driver will get the command or read/write request from the File interface
There is a flexibility to change Hardware Abstraction layer and also the Driver
Is it possible to use IOCTL between two thread under same process? if not what other options do we have.
Can we use File interface to  send command (like IOCTL) between two thread?

We used select one choice and it is bind to the iterator. Data of different session are not getting reflected.
Problem Scenario : Two browsers are open with same screen . In browser-1, I am adding new item which display on drop down of same screen. But drop down of browser-2 is not displaying the new added value.
Please let me know how to refresh the data of browser-2 if I added data on different session.

Are you sure backingBeanScope is the correct scope for your scenario?
Session scope sound more appropriate to me.

  • Different session used when calling stored procedure from form

after commiting data in a form to a table, a stored procedure is called that inserts the data written to the table into several other tables. Some columns in the original table are updated - no commit is issued in the procedure. On returning from the procedure the form is re-queried but the updated columns don't contain the updates. This seems to imply that the stored procedure is running as a different session to the one of the form.
Is this the case? Can we make the form and the stored procedure use the same session so that the data is available in both without having to commit in the procedure?

No. They should be within one session unless you explicitly open a new session.
The reason why you dont see updates of the data block when you requery is probably the changes on the form never go to the back end. I think first you have to make sure data changes go to db table. You can do a commit_form before calling the stored procedure and open up another session (e.g. sqlplus) to check the data in the table changed or not.

  • Process and Session

I have set the below parameter value in oracle 10g
    Processes: 20
    Sessions: 20
AFter setting the above value when I start the database and queries
    session parameter values shows: 27
Based on the above parameter how many concurrent users can connect to the database.

If the maximum number of user connections I wanted by database to be able to handle is 100 then I would set processes = 100 and let Oracle calculate the number of sessions.
If you use PQO and the job queue (dbms_scheduler) you may need to adjust the numbers based on actual experience but the above would be a logical starting point.
How your Oracle is licensed, named user vs cpu, and how your application works could result in your needing to choose different values but again the above should work as a starting point and for many lightl load systems should be adequate.

  • Restrict same user using same internet explorer session

    Hi,
I encountered a problem here. Hope some one had deal with this problem can help me out.
The application was written in BSP. The users are using Internet Explorer 6.0 and 7.0 to use the application.
The problem I encountered here is after an user is logged in to the system through the browser, then he open another new window or tab (ctrlN or ctrlT), the application will not prompt him to login again because the sessions were shared between this two internet explorer. I do not want this to happen because it giving problem and causing data loss.
Any possible way to restrict user to open two same application within same session? Because the problem will not occur if the user open two same application within different session.
I really appreciate for those who can help me on this.
    Thanks you.

Check OSS notes for this - there are a number about aspects of BSP logons.
I believe this is to do with a cookie being held / kept alive that should not be.  There are some OSS notes about this issue - you may have to redefine how the user logs on so that HTTP Basic Authentication is not used.
