Samsung problems TV

To whom it may concern,
My name is Scott {Removed per Forum Guidelines} and I 2 Samsung LCD TV's and 1 Samsung LCD computer monitor. I started to have an issue with my LNT4042HXIXAA 40" LCD TV. It clicks 52 times before it will turn on. I googled the problem and to my dismay this is a more than common issue with your products. So I called customer service at 1-800-726-7864 at 10:00 am on 6-15-2010 and spoke with a nice man named "Jeffery" and I proceeded to tell him what I had discovered from my research. He informed me that this is a very common problem and got some information from me and informed me that my TV had just missed the deadline by a couple of months for the free repair of the faulty capacitors that are causing the problems. Jeffery offered for me to speak with a supervisor, after a few moments "Brook" the floor supervisor picked up and reiterated what Jeffery had told me. After I had explained my discontent with their decision to not help me or make an exception due to the fact that this is a very common problem that is well documented and has hundreds of thousands of complaints posted on line. I request to speak to someone else that would have the ability to maybe help me more, I was informed that there is no one else at any level for me to speak with. I asked for her customer service ID# or last name for my records and she refused both. At this point I asked if it concerned her or Samsung if I spend my time at the local Best Buy and express my concerns with the local consumers in the market for similar items. My main concern is to let everyone know of the ongoing problems with the Samsung products and encourage they check the internet for corroborating evidence. Brooks statement was that the internets information was "unproven". I mentioned that it doesn't matter, that it is all about consumer perception, and this is true.
So this is the only way for me to try to get this problem resolved and run this up the chain of command. This is an email blitz that I am sending to every person, department and affiliate listed on your Samsung websites, not just this one. I will proceed to send it to the local news stations and consumer reporting agencies. This is all in an attempt to get Samsung to fix a problem that will cost them a few hundred dollars. This will be much less costly than the potential damage control that will be hopefully needed if my efforts here fall on deaf ears. I have an initial phone interview scheduled with a local news stations consumer reporter for Thursday at 1:00 pm. Hopefully they will research the complaints and do some more investigating for a much larger story. I will also follow through with my efforts to inform the public at all the electronic stores I can manage to get to of the problems I am having.
    This may seem like a petty thing to you being a huge electronic leader in the industry, but to a small time consumer who has had and enjoyed your products it is very disconcerning. I was actualy in the market for another TV for our master bedroom, but at this point it might have to be a replacement for the livingroom. I hope this email will reach the propper people that may be able to help me. I am going to stay hard at work slamming the Samsung name and products until I hear from someone. This will also serve as a great paper trail of the people who knew of this issue and had a chance to prevent a bunch of bad PR, at the very least had a chance to pass it along to someone that could have helped. I hope this will come to a fast resolution as for I have much better things to do with my time and I have liked Samsung upto this point. I hope someone can restore my faith in your company by doing the right thing. {Removed per Forum Guidelines}

I know Sony has a 1 year warranty as well for a fact.  I'm not sure about LG.  Heck, I don't really know of any TV manufacturer that gives more than a 1 year warranty.
You own three Samsung products and because one of them went defective, you claim that the entire brand is bad?  I own a Samsung LCD monitor that I bought back in 2007 and it is still running like brand new.  And this is after hundreds of hours of gaming and movie watching.  I just bought a Samsung Plasma and it is running great after hours upon hours of viewing.
Now, I have had a couple of issues with some Samsung TVs before replacing to my new one, but that is okay with me.  I don't expect a single company to be perfect.  Especially such a huge brand like Samsung.  The more products you produce, the more defects there will be.  Of course you hear numerous cases of these defects.  There are a lot more Samsung owners out there than say a brand like Philips.  Furthermore, customers are more inclined to complain about a product rather than give it praise.  Go look up Sony and LG.  They also have numerous complaints.  You won't find a single manufacturer that produces 100% great TVs.
I'm sorry that your TV failed outside of warranty, but this is the exact reason why you absolutely should buy extended warranties on purchases this big.  I'm sorry, but I'm still going to buy Samsung products as my experience with them has been more pleasant than not.
I understand your frustration, but you shouldn't go around telling people to avoid a brand when your TV broke outside of the manufacturer's warranty time-period.

  • Address Book vCards via Bluetooth to Samsung a900 "Blade" cell phone

I'm able to export Address Book contacts as vCards and then import them into one of the new Samsung a900 "Blade" Sprint phones using Bluetooth, but with a couple of vexing problems.
    1. I should clarify that I can import vCards into the new "Blade" cell phone from Address Book via Bluetooth, but only by dragging one card at a time, a very tedious process. Unfortunately, no data transfer occurs if I select multiple cards and drag them all at the same time. I'm using OS X (v10.4.2). Perhaps v10.4.4 and/or a more current AddressBook update will make a difference, or perhaps the problems are solely at the Samsung end...
After activating the paired phone and then launching Apple's Bluetooth File Transfer Utility, I'm dragging the vCards onto the OS X dock icon...
But before I do this, the "No Name" problem is forcing me to manually enter the Company Name into Address Book's last name field for every card that has no personal first/last name. Again, this is necessary just to get the Samsung a900's internal phone book to display something useful for these records (besides listing each record as "No name").
    2. When the phone software sees an entry with a Company Name only (but no First/Last Name entered), it goes brain dead and lists each entry as "No Name" instead of ignoring the empty Name fields and simply listing the Company Name. This is an age-old problem with dumb cell phone software (my previous Sanyo phone did this too). Unfortunately, Address Book exporting is useless without fixing this...Is there a way to get Address Book to format exported vCards to compensate for this shortcoming in the Phone interface?
More info on this phone and Macs is posted on an a900-Mac thread in the Samsung discussion at www.sprintusers.com. The "Blade" is Samsung's new model that copies the look-and-feel of the popular Motorola RAZR, and it is a very nice, if not entirely original, design, and a very hot phone at Sprint right now. It does have a few bugs, but some already have been addressed with a firmware update from Samsung. It's only been out since late November or early December of 2005.
I also cross-posted these questions in the Address Book and Mail forum...

All metioned problems are Samsung's fault. Blame them.
I've been assuming it was a Samsung problem, and have posted help requests in cell phone forums that Samsung engineers and/or support allegedly reads. I was hoping there might be some way to automate a workaround from the computer end...
Now, if Address Book had an option to define the fields that are to be exported or perhaps automatically sub Company Names for last names the problem would be solved when exporting for cell phones. I can't belive no one has ever encountered this before -- it has been a problem with every cell phone I have ever owned.

  • Problem with Voicemail

Usually I am unable to listen to newly received voicemail without restarting my phone. I can go to the proper screen but the message does not play. This is very annoying.

Sounds like your data connection went dorment, try cycling airplane more instead of restarting, if it works then that is your issue....  For some reason the network keeps doing that with the connection.

  • Galaxy S6 Car Bluetooth Problems

I was wondering if anybody else is having car Bluetooth issues with the Galaxy S6.  I previously had an S3 that worked great in my car (2013 Subaru XV Crosstrek) with no problems. The phone is paired with the Bluetooth in my car, but every time I shut the car off the Call Audio and Media Audio shut off and will not automatically turn back on when I turn the car back on.  Every time I start the car I have to go into Settings, Bluetooth, it shows CAR MULTIMEDIA is paired but I have to click on the little wheel to the right of that and manually turn on Call Audio and Media Audio.  Sometimes it takes 6-8 tries to get them both to turn on.  Also, when I use Pandora, sometimes it will show song, artist, etc. sometimes not. Samsung has been no help. We called Subaru National Support to see if there is a firmware update but they said no it is a Samsung problem.

I am definitely having the same issue getting it pared is half the battle. Once it is pared then it's trying to get the voice to work the media audio connects no problem.. Then now the issue is that it connects then disconnects over and over.. Also I do have a galaxy gear 2 neo however I had this with my s5 as well and had it (the gs5) connected to my 2014 Toyota Tundra as well as my Neo with no problems at all for almost a year . Then when I called Verizon customer service  I was told after calling Samsung while I was on the phone that Samsung had been made aware of the problem but had not had enough people say anything to make them start working on a fix in the way of an update so I of course made sure that Samsung was going to lay for any damages from any accidents occurring whilst I was without my hands free calling to Which they replied with a laugh... So now basically I am stuck without hands free calling until Samsung decides that they are going to maybe...... come up with a fix/update for the 600 dollar phone I just bought a week ago that no longer has one of the main features of the phone.. Thanks Samsung for the last few years I have bought the S3 S4 should have never bought the S5 because it was supposed to have everything the 6 now does have but Samsung is greedy and has to push out another year and get as much profit as possible. and Now the S6... Defending your flagship phone/Brand to the death against the, only popular because it's trendy Apple Icrap.. and now they (Samsung) can't get off there money collecting ***** to solve a major issue for there flagship phone because they don't know if enough people have the problem yet .. I can assure you that this will be my last Samsung if nothing is done somewhat quickly. Sorry for the rant.

  • E51 address book data access via Bluetooth to Garm...

I have a new E51 but cannot access address book data via Bluetooth from a Garmin Sat Nav (model 310). Worked perfectly with old Nokia 6310, but returns a 'no can do' message when using the E51. Lack of this feature is a big problem - surely Bluetooth communication is supposed to work to a common standard. This is not good. Does anyone have a solution or know of a patch to cure this? Thanks.

  • Don't know what to do or who to ask??? GPS stopped working after 4.4.2 Kitkat update.

Don't know what to do or who to ask??? GPS stopped working after 4.4.2 Kitkat update.
I have been on the phone multiple times with Verizon, visited multiple stores and still getting different answers with every different person I talk to...
Since the 4.4.2 update, my phone and my wife's phone (14 or 15 month old SIII's) that worked perfect a couple weeks ago no longer know where they are 95% percent of the time... Location cannot be found and GPS satellites cannot be seen (sometimes after searching for 10 - 20 minutes they will lock on).
And it's not just Google maps, it is all apps that need location (ie. gps status and toolbox, weather channel, etc...)
Google maps has us in the right location 50% of the time  but i think that has more to do with 4g and wifi (although i always know the weather and traffic conditions in the next town over now).
Navigation will set up fine in Google maps until you actual move the car. Then it updates location every couple minutes, but usually a couple streets over from where I actually am. Maybe 1 out of every four or five times I try it, it will start working about 15 minutes after I started it (then work flawlessly, so it can actually work sometimes). But if you end the process and start over to see if it really "works", back to square one with it not knowing its location all over again...
I obviously did all the normal trouble shooting fixes with the battery and sim card removals and even did a "recommended factory data reset" on my phone with no luck. After this didn't work I stopped by another verizon store yesterday that has "tech services" that I was told could run some sort of diagnostics on my phone. After I showed the tech all the screen shots i have taken of what was happening while driving, he said it is a software problem and a very common one at that.
I was told I should either buy new phones or switch to the edge program where i can get a new phones. These don't seem like very fair solutions to me considering before the 4.4.2 update our phones worked perfect and they are both in almost perfect condition after 14 or 15 months...
Will there be a fix to this??? Is it a Samsung problem??? Should I be contacting them???

If it is 3GS, you can update it to iOS 5 and it will work.

  • DVD Player not reading CD or DVD

I have a Satellite A665-56093 laptop, and the DVD/CD player was working, and now it won't read CD's or DVD's. The model  on the drive (according to device manager) is TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-L633Y.
When I put a CD or DVD in you can hear the computer trying to read it, but then after a minute or so, it just ejects and asks for a valid disc. I can see that the drive exists in Windows Explorer, but can not see the contents of the disc.
It appears that a data disc (software install) is read fine.  I tried updating the drivers for the Drive, but it says that they are up to date.
Any Ideas? I am just stuck...

Anyone find a fix to the tsstcorp TS-L633Y reading only 1 out of 3 DVD movies during the past 2 months? I've searched high and low, but can't find a fix. It spins the movie and kicks it out asking for a valid disk. I uninstalled the driver, reinstalled, and nothing. I've Googled and googled, but nothing comes up to help me sort this problem out. The Redbox DVD's work in my sister's HP laptop. It's a Samsung problem in my Toshiba notebook as it's a Samsung drive with Korean electronics not being fully perfected yet to the Japanese level of perfection in my experience. The player seems to be find and plays some DVD's and all CD's. I didn't notice the problem until I started renting Redbox back in late January. I thought for a while the DVD's were requiring validation that they were valid copies, but that's not the case. It's some kind of software problem, but the system says the device is working fine.
    Eludes me????

  • People are not receiving all my texts and viceversa

I just changed this week to the Galaxy Nexus from a 3G phone. Before I had no problems with sending text messages and pictures through stock messages but with the new phone, several of my messages are not being received in the other side. It appears that it has been sent but they just do not arrive. Same with some messages and pictures they send me, some just do not reach my phone. I changed from stck sms (android default) to 3rd party (Handcent or something) still, i do not receive some messages... anyway, same problem. Is this a 4G problem? a Samsung problem? or a Google problem? Is being resolved?
Is worth to mention that the person I send most sms is on a Metro PCS blackberry, but still I had no problems with my android LG Ally before. Just after I changed to the Nexus. What is the problem here? how do I resolve it?
    Thanks,

Stito85, thank you for your post. I certainly want to make sure we get your text messages working. I have not seen this issue as a known issue on the Nexus. Is this happening with different people? Are you using any special characters, graphics, signatures, etc in the messages that do not send? Try deleting your SMS thread with the number it is happening with mostly and try sending text messages again. If the issue is still occurring, we may need to submit a trouble ticket to our network team. In that case, we'll need the dates and times that the messages were sent and from which number so we can further investigate.
Let me know if you need additional assistance.

  • Printing in 10.5.2

I recently bought a macbook with 10.5.2 Leopard. I also bought a hp
photosmart 4280, both be bought in the apple store, the assistant said they
would work together wirelessly if I connected the printer to the airport
    extreme I also bought.
The assistant said that if I inserted the printer into the airport extreme I
could print wirelessly. However I am having trouble.
I have downloaded the latest driver for the printer and it is working
perfectly when connected directly to the macbook by one of the USB ports,
but when I try and print when the printer is connected to the airport
extreme via the USB port, I have no luck.
Is there some setting or procedure that I have overlooked?

I helped a friend whose MacPro with 10.5.2 would not print to his Samsung color laser. His specific problem was printing from Office 2008. The Office 2008 Update released about a week ago fixed all his Samsung problems. I've heard that other printer brands were affected, especially those in hi -res settings, ad the updater helped those, too.

  • HP P4515N USB & ANDROID PRINTING

    Dear
few months ago I recovered an HP P4515N LASER PRINTER that works really fine via USB cable to my HP computer.
I bought a SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 10.1 2014 and I tried to print via USB+OTG cable directly to HP P4515N. Unfortunately the named printer is connected but when I push "print" the printer looks like to be not connected. the USB CARD of the printer looks to be not compatible. I connected the same NOTE 10.1 2014 using the same USB Cables to my new HP 1010 printer and it works really fine. So, since it is not a SAMSUNG problem, could you please try to help me telling me how to configure  p4515n USB Port in order to let me print using note 10.1 via usb. Pls I haven't any wireless or other way to connect the printer either then the USB CABLE. the printer is updated at the latest firmware available on your hp site.
So, I wait for your kind support,
    Ciao

    Hi Giusma,
I am sorry, but to get your issue more exposure, I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums, since this is a commercial product. You can do this at http://h30499.www3.hp.com/hpeb/
    I hope this helps.

Far too many reports of problems between the Minis & Samsung Monitors for me to recommend or consider them. Might not even be Samsung's fault, just the combination.

Unlikely.  Based on the complete lack of detail of the issue provided it is entirely possible the same issue would occur.
Unless and until the user provides some actual details of the problem, there is nothing the indicate that the issue is with the iPhone.

  • Problems with dropped calls and no reception on Samsung Continuum

My mother and I both purchased a Samsung Continuum in late March 2011, and have experienced the same problems with the phone.  The device drops at least 2-3 calls per day, often on the same conversation; we have not found that location or time of day makes a difference.  The phone freezes up frequently, even if no apps are running in the background.  We lose our 3G network reception frequently, and cannot access our texts, emails, or the internet.  The screen saver kicks in even when we are actively dialing a number, or typing in a text message.  The overall performance of the phone is also poor, and it is quite slow much of the time.
We have raised this issue several times with a representative at one of the Verizon stores, but he states that he can find no problem with the phone, and that these issues may not be covered under our insurance plan.  None of my friends with non-Samsung phones are having the same problems with phone reception and performance.  I am aggravated enough with these issues that I am considering reactivating my old Blackberry, which worked like a charm.
I am not upset that my phone has not been updated to Android 2.2.  I just want the phone to perform as stated, and not fail at its primary function:  making and receiving phone calls.  I am not certain if these problems originate with the phone, Verizon, or Samsung, nor do I care.  I just want to resolve these issues as soon as possible, or I will have to look at other alternatives.
    Thank you.

If this doesn't work...now what??? I have a useless $400 plus piece of unreliable junk. My Motorola Razor was ions more reliable than this phone...very, very sad but true.
What carrier were you using with the Razor? AT&T? Same area?

  • Multiple Samsung Stratosphere problems after FF1 update

There have been multiple posts on various issues users have found after the recent Stratopshere FF1 update.  Some were replys to older posts and some only touched on a single issue.  I wanted to consolodate into one thread, and hopefully get teh attention of Verizon to maybe reply here.
For reference, a lot has been discuss here --> https://community.verizonwireless.com/message/874446
Summary:  Verizon and Samsung have finally updated the Stratosphere almost 1 year after release.  This updated the phone from Android 2.3.5 to Android 2.3.6.  Going by filename, this is known as the FF1 update.   This update went live at the end of August 2012, and most users were upgraded before mid September 2012.
There were some noticable changes in this update:
-Lock screen has changed.  The puzzle piece and glass lock options have been removed.  New options have been added, such as facial recognition unlock.
-Call answering screen has changed, introducing the option to ignore call with a message.
-Camera now has digital zoom ability.
-Ability to uninstall the 2 games the phone comes with (Need for Speed and Lets Golf)
-Phone icon has changed ever so slightly
-Wifi icon now included up and down arrows to indicate data is being sent or recieved
-Wallpaper no longer "stretches" over multiple screens - ie, it no longer scrolls as you move from screen to screen
-The visual voicemail app has been improved (I have personally not used this feature)
-Callback number is now supported in text / picture messages
-Android core OS updated from 2.3.5 to 2.3.6 (both versions are still Gingerbread)
-Update to how the device deals with the end of scrolling.  It used to rubber-band bounce back, now it will just give a green bar and expand the bar as you scroll.  (I cannot fault Samsung for this change as this was at teh core of an Apple lawsuit and has been changed in newer versions of Android.)
-(I am sure there are more.  please list any others you may have noticed)
I have found some problems, and others have confirmed that this is (at least) somewhat widespread:
-The biggest problem is with wifi connectivity.  Upon an initial connection to wifi, everything works great.  After somewhere between 15minutes and 2 hours, problems start happening.  Its as if the wifi keeps hanging or reconnecting.  Download speeds (tested with the SpeedTest.com app) slow to about one third of normal.  Apps like Facebook that require a constant connection will just time out.
-It appears the signal strength for 3g and 4g connections is lower.  There are places where I used to get a 4g connection, and now I only get 3g.  Some palces I fall back to just 2g digital.
Another minor issue i found was with text messages.  When you reply to a message, it no longer automatically focuses the text in the input box.  You have to first click into the box to start typing.  Not a huge deal, but one more step to take over and over.  Minor annoyence.
At my house, I struggle to get a 3g or 4g signal.  I depend on wifi for my data connection.  So with the wifi connection problem introduced by teh FF1 update, my phone is somewhat useless to me now while at home.  Here are teh troubleshooting steps I have been through so far to attempt to fix the wifi problem:
-Complete factory reset on my phone.  (did not help)
-Pull battery and SIM card out of phone for 15 minutes.  (did not help)
-Went to a Verizon store.  The guy at the store was helpful, and said he also had a Stratosphere and was getting the same wifi problems after the update.  He said all he could do was to send me out a replacement phone. I got the replacement phone, and it had the same problems.
-I read in multiple palces that Android 2.3.6 has a bug within wifi and DHCP.  Apparently if you have a DHCP lease set to "forever", the phone will keep requesting a new address.  Setting the DHCP server on the router to something like 2 weeks, or using a static IP is supposed to solve this.  I have a NetGear N900 router, and I can not change teh DHCP lease time.  It appears, however, that my router is not sending out "forever" leases.  But just to make sure, I gave my phone a static IP.  (None of these steps made any difference).
The only thing that temporarily fixes the problem is a reboot of the phone.  This will again give you anywhere from 15min to 2 hours of good wifi use before problems start happening.
I have now had this update for over a week, and on 2 phones.  I still can't maintain a wifi connection for much longer than 15 minutes without problems starting up.
I am asking Verizon or Samsung to at least confirm this issue if possible.  Maybe there are newer revs of the Stratopshere hardware that don't have this problem.  Or there is something unique about my (and apparently others) situation.  But it seems like Verizon's current stance is to offer a repalcement phone (as currently all Stratospheres are within their 1 year manufacture warranty as the phone has not been ouy for quite 1 year yet).
I am asking for a workaround for this problem, or a true fix adressed by a new software update, or at least allow us to roll back to the original Andorid 2.3.5 software.
I have had my original Stratosphere for almost a year with no wifi problems - then get the FF1 update and have had nothing but problems on 2 different phones.
    Thank you for your time.

Thanks for starting a comprehensive thread on problems with this update. I want to add one more.
I have Bluetooth in my car (a 2004 model), and previously the phone has connected to it practically instantly when I start the car. Since the update, I have never been able to connect the phone to the car by Bluetooth. Several times the phone has made a standard notification sound at the moment it should be connecting to Bluetooth, though no notification appears. I have no idea what that could mean. The car's Bluetooth shows up as paired in the list of devices in Settings > Wireless & networks > Bluetooth settings. I haven't seen this widely reported as an update issue, but perhaps some others have experienced it too.
UPDATE: I finally did some testing, and found that the notification was to signal the extremely brief appearance of a dialog indicating that the car's Bluetooth was requesting a connection. Accepting that request let the phone connect with the car, and calls went to the car's sound system as they should. When I turned the car off and back on (just the electrical system; not wasting any gas on this!), the connection was established immediately, so apparently the acceptance only had to be done once. Nevertheless, it did have to be done, and the dialog notification disappears within seconds. I believe it would have been possible to go into Bluetooth settings and accept the connection request there if I missed the notification; but not seeing the notification, I might not know to do this.
One further observation: When I turned the phone's Bluetooth off and back on after a connection had been established, leaving the car on the whole time, the two did not reconnect. I believe that may be different from before the update, but I'm not really sure.
