Samsung SCH-U370 - In Store Pick-Up - Still Confirming Store Inventory?

I had ordered a new Samsung SCH-U370 on September 22nd (11 days ago) as a cell phone upgrade, which, at the time, was available only online, and only via in-store pick-up. The SCH-U370 is a serious step up from my current phone (and all the other phones on Verizon.com that don't require a data plan), the price was right at $29.99, and luckily I had a Best Buy Gift Card to cover it, so I went ahead and purchased it. Shortly after completing my order, I received the order confirmation email, letting me know that my order is being processed and that Best Buy will "get my order ready as soon as possible." After a couple of days without receiving the pick-up confirmation email, I decided to search for the phone again and check if it's still available, only to find out that it's completely sold out online - practically just after I had ordered it! I've been patiently waiting for 11 days now. I sent two email inquiries to BestBuy customer service, only to receive the same useless automated response telling me to call 888-BEST-BUY if I'm looking to cancel or modify my order. I'm not looking to cancel or change my order! I just want the phone I ordered! Can anyone from Best Buy give me some kind of update on my order? If the phone is even still available? And if it's not, that's really messed up, Best Buy. When I found the phone, it was available, and so I bought it - I should get the phone I ordered, not be told that I can't get it anymore. But if that's the case, can I least get refunded on my gift card?

Since you ordered it for in-store pickup, I would give the store you selected a call to make sure they have it in stock.

  • Samsung SCH-u370 vs. Kin TWOm ; Which would be better for the texter?

So my plan is going to end in about two months so I decided to research some new feature phones online.
Since I text often, I wanted a phone with a full keyboard, having a touch screen would be nice as well.
The Samsung SCH-u370 isn't offered on at VZW anymore, but Bestbuy online still has a stock of it.
The Kin TWOm looks like a very good phone (8MP camera, slide-out keyboard, etc.) but it didn't have good reviews for some reason.
I mainly use my phone for texting, but will call for roughly 1-2 hours every other night during the week.
Shelling out 50$ isn't a big deal for me, but free is always better.
For the users that have experience with either phone or even both, which would you reccomend and why?
    P.S.
    - If they're any other keyboard feature phones coming out in the next two months, I would love to take them into consideration.
    Thank you so much!

    I have both.
The u370 UI is much more polished, font sizes are great, you can adjust them. You can doodle/notate on pics. It's 3" resistive touchscreen. You can use finger nail or some dull pointer if touch is slightly off. I have not tested the e-mail/web browser as the phone doesn't have wi-fi and i don't have data plan. Music player is very basic, haven't tested video. No microSD card is included. The camera is 3MP, no flash, but there is night mode (more sensitive to light, but noisy images). You can doodle/notate over pics, great for making quick notes/directions. Because it relies on microSD for storage, you don't really need to use it with any specific software.
Twom, some parts of the UI can frustrate some people. Font sizes are not adjustable, and there are many areas where the font is thin and small. The built in email client is text only, and it displays some html code rather than stripping them clean. But it does work over both 3g or wifi. The e-mail client's UI is simple, nice to use. You can do full webmail through the browser. You can type notes/comments on pics taken, no sketch pad. 3.4" capacitive touchscreen. That means you can't use fingernail or pointers. There is a Zune player with tegra1 hardware, which means audio and HD video playback. 8GB overall storage with about 6+ GB usable for storage. And you have to use the Zune desktop software to get data on/off the phone. 8MP camera with auto focus, image stabilization, and led flash. But no extras like b&w/sepia modes, etc, etc. The browser is good for mobile sites and small websites, but large websites takes a while to load. Overall it works well enough for basic html & css over wi-fi. Also keep in mind it's unlikely to get an update.
I can't comment on texting as i don't have a text plan. The Twom keyboard is very tactile, you can hear it click, not mushy. If you really need a good browser on your phone, then you will need a smartphone. Between these two though, the Twom have the advantage in media, the u370 have the advantage as the easier to use phone. And it depends on how much you like/dislike the UI of either phone. The u370 have the more 'normal' UI. Whereas the Twom is more experimental looking, but cuts down the fluff.
With either phone, make sure you disable 3g data.
*Actually both keyboards are very good. The difference is the Twom have clicky plastic keys, and u370 have the noiseless rubbery keys. Both keyboards are top of their class. Each key is firm and it's not easy to accidentally click an adjacent key. Depends on which you prefer.

  • Can the Samsung SCH U370 fit Samsung Reality accessories?

I think I am set on getting the Samsung SCH U370 and I wanted to get  an invisibleshield for it. I heard that this phone is like an upgraded Samsung Reality without the data plan; but is the phone the same size as the Reality? I want to make sure that accessories from the reality will fit because there are so many accessories for the reality but not for the sch u370

Exactly the same. Just like the Alias 2 and the Zeal.

  • Samsung sch-u370 Backup Assistant help?

I am trying to do a backup using the backup assistant for basic phone. It shows up on my phone but when I press it nothing happens. It won't download or anything.
I am trying to get some help to figure out how to backup my contacts, etc so I can activate a new phone. I had backup assistant in the past and do not understand why it won't activate.
    Samsung sch-u370
It is also frustrating that Verizon thinks their pants are so big that they can't have a straight up help from actual employees. I spent over 40 minutes rambling around the site trying to find information and it kept taking me back to the same crap which wasn't helping me in the first place.
I just want to back up my **** phone and move forward and can't get any help from the company that I am paying for the service to do so...we have to go to a discussion board and 'wait' for someone else who is paying Verizon for their service to help out. That is so pathetic.
Can someone please let me know if I am screwed here and won't be able to backup my contacts and stuff to switch to a new phone!
    Thanks...
    jwaybright

I was finally able to get my way into the website...don't ask how because I don't know...clicked a million different times and ended up there. Rediculous that one has to go through all this crap to get a simple thing done. If you don't have a smart phone you are screwed...just totally sucks since we pay for our service too!
I found that the backup assistant had not done a back up on my phone since september. I got frustrated and my son told me to just take it to Target and have them do it which I did. Its done
Now the NEW problem. I've activated my new phone (sch-u380) and want to activate the backup assistant on there. However when I click through it says do you want to restore? All the contacts were moved from my old phone to my new phone. I don't know if it will restore using the website information which is not up to date!?
Please advise how I should go about this and make sure that if i complete the install on the new phone that it doesn't use information that is out of date.
    thank you.

  • Samsung SCH-u370

I recently bought this phone from Costco and I am trying to get some information about the phone.  I went on to the Verizon website and they don't show any information on this phone.
Does Costco have different numbers for their phones from Verizon?
Wanted to download a manual on the phone.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello,
Costco is the only retailer that sold the Samsung u370. I went to their website and could not find a manual. However, this device is very very similar to the the Samsung Reality. If you are looking to get the details of this device, you could print a manual for the Samsung Reality from our website here .
You are also able to obtain a manual from Samsung here . If you would like to have Samsung send you a manual, you can call them at 888-987-4357.
Below is a link so you can compare the Reality to the u370 by clicking on the link. You will see that they are pretty close, almost identical handsets.

I hope this information is helpful and addresses your concerns. Have a great day!

  • Failing  battery in a Samsung SCH-u370?

I bought this at  Costco last September, and have typically gotten most of a week's service out of the battery with light phone and zero text/web use.  Bluetooth has been turned off since I bought it.
Suddenly over the past week, battery life has dropped to about one day, even when I haven't used the phone.  Has anyone else seen this?  I suspect that a new battery is in order, but thought that I'd look for suggestions.

You can probably find a new OEM battery online for little money (Batteries4Less, cellularaccessories, other websites, shop around to find a good deal).  Batteries do wear out, but if it is less than a year, check your local Verizon corporate store.  Your original OEM battery should have a 1 year warranty so you may be able to get it replaced that way.

  • Can't Get (But Still Charged) Mobile Web on Samsung sch-u410 prepaid

Hi, I have a prepaid samsung sch-u410 which I used to use to access the internet for an extra 99 cents a day. The last time I used it was the monday before Hurricane Sandy hit the Jersey shore. That same day I was hit with about 15 "picture" messages from a few unknown numbers (I rarely give the number out, but it seems my number got on someone's contact list and some malware got it). The "pictures" wouldn't come up when I opened some of the messages, even the phone actually has a camera and allows picture messages as well as text. So I deleted the whole bunch. The Verizon CSR I emailed assured me that the problem had been reselved and recommended calling the toll-free number next time I had a problem. OK, but I usually don't get close to a landline, so that would be a great stretch.
Anyway, the next time I used the Mobile Web was Nov 2, the friday after the storm, around Berlin, NJ. I reached the My Verizon page with the balance info, but can't go anywhere beyond that. No matter what option I use, it returns to the home screen as though I pressed "End" . I tried it for about a 20-mile stretch, with the same result. I can still text and make calls with the phone though.
The next day (Saturday) I tried to call Customer Service, but it must have gone on vacation, because I was stuck on hold for 30 minutes with messages pointing to the website. Three days later (Tuesday) I finally got a rep, who told me to 1) dial *228 to reprogram the phone and when that didn't work, 2) take the battery out the phone for 30 seconds. Then she consulted tech support and told me that the phone needed an upgrade and that I had to take it to a Verizon Store for the procedure. No problem; I run into at least 5 of them within a 30 mile radius. Imagine my surprise when she told me the nearest place in my area was Williamstown, NJ, and eternity out of my way. So dumb me takes it to a Verizon store in the area and she flat out told me that I needed a new phone (after giving me the "water damage" excuse).
So is it worth the effort to trek to the corporate store? I had the phone for little over a year, but after some research found out that the phone was manufactured around 2007-8 (feature phone era, I guess)

I hope you and your family have been able to stay safe through the storm dlclayton. Having a reliable phone is important, so I'm glad you're at least able to get those important calls out. If your phone does have liquid damage though, a software update may not be able to resolve the trouble you're having. If liquid has made it's way to the innards of your phone, it can have an effect on the phone's performance in lots of different ways. Sometimes effecting just voice or volume, other times effecting data or speeds, etc.
For the fastest assistance, you can reach our Prepaid Customer Service at 888-294-6804. When prompted, enter the prepaid phone number. Then press 4, 5, 4 and then enter your pass code for your account.  If you do not know the pass code enter in four zeros.  Then the system will transfer you to a Prepaid representative.

  • How long does it take for a store to process an online order for store pick up

    Hello,
I placed an order for a Macbook Pro on November 11, 2014. Scheduled an in store pick up where Best Buy estimated pick up date is November 14. I didn't receive the email or text to pick up the item, so I decided to call 1-800-best-buy to see if I can get the new estimated pick up date. I was told by the representative the laptop is actually already at the store, and waiting for me to pick it up. I called the store to make sure, and was told that I can pick it tomorrow morning. I called in today was placed on hold for around 15 minutes. Decided to call 1-800-best-buy again, and found out that it will take another 3-5 days before I get my laptop. I asked the representative to change the pick to another store that has the laptop available right now. It was change since around 10 am in the morning. I called the store to make sure that they got my order, the Manager told me that once the truck deliver more laptop. I will be able to get mine, and I should call in the afternoon to check on the availablity. I called around 5 pm to check, and was told that even if there is a laptop. I would still need to wait until best buy process my order. Called 1-800-best-buy again, and was told that Apple usually take 3-4 for hours to verify the information. Right now, my order status is still "Preparing Order".
My Questions: How long will it take for Best Buy to finish Preparing Order?
Why does it show on the website that if I order by 8 PM I wil be able to pick up the laptop today. Meanwhile, the store pick up was transfered since 10 am this morning, and at 10 PM tonight still nothing.
If I cancel my order, will I get all of my reward zone certificates back?

    Hello sourlime,
Welcome to the forum. I'm not a big online shopper, but when I do order something, I expect it to be an easy, painless transaction. It sounds like you had some troubles with your order not being available on the estimated pick up date, and I sincerely apologize for any frustration you encountered.
Using the e-mail you registered on the forum, I was able to locate your order, and was glad to see you were finally able to pick it up. I do appreciate you taking the time to visit the forum, and I assure you I will be documenting your comments for review. If there is anything else you need assistance with, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Once again, I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and thank you for posting here on the forum.

  • The service provided by the Samsung SCH-LC11 Mi-Fi device, and/or the 4G LTE service, is unusable.

I got the Samsung SCH-LC11 Mi-Fi device and 4G LTE service from Verizon about one week ago here in the Chicago area.
(Note: the first thing I did was update to the latest firmware (EF07) per the Samsung website.)
I am using it with my AT&T iPhone 4 with "Cellular Data" on the phone turned off completely.
I ran all the speed tests, 10 megabit up/down, wow, great.
Unfortunately, there are at least two major problems with it:
    1)  I noticed almost immediately that push emails stopped coming to my iPhone after a few minutes.
After looking into this in more detail I realized the following:
       a)  The modem inside the Mi-Fi device is being assigned a 10-Net / "carrier-grade NAT" IP address, not a real Internet IP address.  Fine, I don't really care as long as it works.  I am not trying to use a VPN, or do VoIP, or run some webcam somewhere.  In other words I'm not a "revenue leak" in Verizon "parlance" (I worked at Motorola during the OBEX fiasco days), but it's nice to know I'm being treated as such right off the bat.
       b)  The "carrier grade NAT" appears to have a TCP timeout of no more than two minutes.  I verified this by opening a telnet session to somewhere and not typing something for two minutes.  After the two minutes I typed another character, but it never got echoed back and the connection was dropped.  After waiting only a minute and a half, it lagged a little but sprang back to life.
       c)  Problem is, push email relies on having an open TCP connection that is idle the vast majority of time.  When an email comes in, the Exchange ActiveSync server sends a message back out to the device (over the existing connection) saying the mailbox has changed.  Unfortunately, after two minutes of idle, the "carrier grade NAT" has dropped the translation entry a long time ago, so the connection is dead.
So I emailed support about this.  (the ticket is "WFM87599752").
In the first round they told me to go look in the device's settings @ http://192.168.1.1.  Yeah, did that already.
In round two, they blamed the dormancy timer.  That's obviously not it, since the modem is layer two and knows nothing about TCP at all.  Just to be sure though, I performed the test again, but this time I had a DOS window pinging Yahoo repeatedly so the modem wouldn't become dormant.  Problem still happened.  I saved the Wireshark PCAP here so anyone can see:  http://home.comcast.net/~abcbwtxyz/two_minutes.pcap  Frame #339 is where I try to type again, never to hear back.
    2)  The other problem is that as soon as a second person connects to the Mi-fi device over Wi-fi, the first person gets dropped almost immediately, and can't even reconnect again afterward.  I mean, really?  Made this video to illustrate:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iadz4DGXFRM
So, can someone help?  I know I'm not the only one having these problems; I sent the support alias the following links just as examples, there are many more:
    http://himself.wordpress.com/2011/04/30/verizon-wireless-issuing-private-ip-addresses-to-3g-customers-class-a-nat-joy-and-gross-ineptitude-verizon-wireless-3g-fraudulent-enticement/
    http://www.broadbandreports.com/forum/remark,26067018
    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-tech-support/101185-droid-x-verizon-3g-assigning-10-nat-ips.html
    -Chris

So just to follow up on this.  I called to cancel today.  The CSR wanted me to talk to tech support about my problems and talk me out of cancelling so I said fine.  Summary of conversation:
    1)  Immediate acknowledgment that the two minute timeout of idle connections is by design, and no dispute that it breaks push email.
    2)  Disagreement with the claim that a second person logging on kicks off the first, even though I offered proof.  Dismissed my point that other people have seen the same exact thing, saying that if you look up problems other people are having on the Internet, people say anything and everything.
Anyway, I continued with the cancellation; to their credit, they waived the activation fee and credited me for "time served", so I won't owe anything.  I did appreciate that.

  • IPad Store Pick-Up Availability on BestBuy.com

I can understand not having the new iPad available for shipping, but why not the option to buy it online and pick it up at the Best Buy store?  This would eliminate the hassle of having to call the store and being put on hold or having to drive to the store to find out that it is sold out after the store associate told you by phone that they have some available.  I guess that would make too much sense for a company who primarily sells technological products.
The option to buy the new iPad on bestbuy.com and pick it up in store was available at product launch.  Why was this option taken away?

    Hello Mooplaid,
Thank you for renewing your My Best Buy Gamers Club Unlocked account!  I'm glad to hear you are still interested in the expanded benefits.
I have reviewed your account based on the information you provided when signing up for the forum, and it appears that we do show your account as Unlocked, so I am not sure what could be causing the difference when you are attempting to place the order.  It is possible if you are using different login information you may have had an older My Best Buy account associated with it, which could also explain a difference in points.
As the game is coming out tomorrow, if you are not able to place the order on your own at this time, I would recommend you reach out to our sales team by phone at 1-888-BESTBUY, as they should be able to assist you in submitting the order using your My Best Buy credentials.
    Thanks,

  • Samsung SCH-LC11 4G MIFI mobile hotspot - First Impressions #2

Yesterday, I received two Samsung 4G MIFIs to add to our corporate plan.  These are also to serve as test units for evaluation for a possible upgrade of our 14 other 3G data lines (PCMCIA). Here are my first thoughts and impressions regarding this device.  I apologize in advance for the length of the post and some of the more simple descriptions that might not need to be included.  I've found that sometimes these minor steps become helpful to others with troubleshooting issues.  I've found that they sometimes end up as "AH HA!" moments.
Out of the box:  As soon as I opened the box, I was impressed by the size and styling of the adapter.  Having not used or even seen one in person, it was a bit smaller than I was expecting.  It's certainly small enough to fit into a shirt or pants pocket. For those that have not seen one, it's approximately half the height of a pack of cigarettes lying down.
Initial Setup:  In general, this couldn't have been much simpler.  After following the basic instructions (install battery, power on, connect and login), it was ready go.  No activation phone number to call like I'm used to.  *Reading other posts, it looks like these adapters don't always come pre-configured like mine was.  It already had the SIM card installed and was ready to go.  This must be a friendly service my local distributor does.
I love the fact that this unit does not need VZAccess Manager to run.  Simply plugging the USB cable into a laptop will start charging the battery without putting it into a "single user" mode like other adaptors do.  This simplifies things for IT administrators, as you don't have to explain multiple scenarios for how to use the device.  Plus there are fewer options for the end user to mess things up.
Advanced Setup: This is where things start getting fun.  My first task was to change the SSID and security key.  I navigate over to the Network->WIFI tab. It took me a minute to figure out the whole profile thing, but when I went to make my changes on the "Manual Configuration" side, something still seemed out of place.  I had drop down menus that didn't have any text in its fields.
                      Blank Field
This lead to a bit more confusion as to how the profiles worked.  I decided to change things up and switch from IE 8.0.7601 to FireFox 4.0.  Using FireFox, everything looked in place.  I proceeded to configure the settings and then selected "apply".  Apparently this wasn't the option I needed as all my settings reverted back.  It looks like you need to select "Update Profile" first before applying the active profile.  Great, now we are up and running!
Note: Both of my devices are running AP/Modem firmware: EC04
Speed Test:  Curious to see how these new devices performed, I ran a number of speed tests while connected.  My area has yet to be 4G enabled, so I wasn't expecting much in terms of an improvement with the 3G.  On average I was getting 1mbps down and 500kbps up.  This is actually slower than our current 3G cards that average 1.5mbps down and 768kbps up.  Hopefully we get the 4G service sooner rather than later.
Deal Breaker:  VPN.  For my company, we use Windows VPN access.  I spent a little time trying to connect to the VPN with this adaptor.  For some reason I could not get past the authentication.  I tried from multiple machines, using different OSes, still no luck.  I contemplated making some changes on the server side, but decided against it as all other VPN connections (including 3G adaptors) were fine.  That led me to these forums in search of an answer.  More specifically, the current post on the exact same issue I was seeing.
    http://community.vzw.com/t5/4G-Discussion/Samsung-SCH-LC11-Blocks-Microsoft-VPN/td-p/489618
I will do some additional testing, including some changes on the VPN server, but might have to send these back.
Summary:  They look like great little devices, but in my opinion, are currently not quite suited towards some business environments.  This could perhaps change with a firmware update or two.

Sorry to take so long to reply....  I now have a support community set up at http://www.netsubnet.com, or you can touch the support button on the SETUP tab inside of HotSpotSam.
Yes, that's the second request for signal strength, so it's on the planned feature list.  I'm currently working on integrating the real artwork so that it's easier to see the current status - and the app looks a lot better too.
Next up is putting the status messages into a real log so if there's a problem or you just want to see what the app has been doing, you can scroll through it.
Also, I'll be putting the most common questions into an in-app help screen.
Then I'll work with the artist on the best way to show the signal bars on the main screen.  The RSSI number on the INFO tab is the Received Signal Strength Indication (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Received_signal_strength_indication) ie "Signal Strength" so the info is out there just need to display it.
I'd also like to add an option to beep on low battery.
There have been thousands of downloads so I guess people find it useful!  It would be nice if more people would rate and review, too.
    Thanks for your suggestions.

  • Samsung SCH-LC11 edit settings file

Does anyone know how to edit the settings file on a Samsung SCH-LC11.  Specifically I want to allow it to still operate as a hotspot while charging.
I've seen a post on Cnet for a different Samsung hotspot for this.  When I export the settings file on the SCH-LC11 it is not readable in notepad.  What program do I need to read the file?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Mark

        Hello jmarkh,
The LC11 hotspot can be used while charging. Simply, turn it on and connect your wi-fi enabled devices. Once connected, you can plug the hotspot to the charge and the charger to a wall socket. Voila! If you have any additional questions then don't hesitate to reply to this message. ^AH

  • Advertised lens not available for delivery or store pick up, Why?

Nikon - AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 Lens for Nikon F-Mount Digital SLR Cameras $199
This lens is NOT AVAILABLE for home delivery at $199. Why is BB offering it for store pick-up? I spent hours trying to find a store to ship it to and I couldnt find a single location, why?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Unfortunately its not available at pretty much every online/brick and mortar store now. The few that have it jacked the prices up big time (seen one selling it for over $400).
Nikon (and most other camera companies) was affected big time by the past disaster in Japan. Sendai (where the tsunami hit hardest) is where Nikon makes pro bodies and pro lenses (possibly the glass elements for all their lenses even ones assembled in Taiwan and china) last I heard still is having issues with rolling blackouts. Nikon also makes lenses in batches. They dont have a line for each lens. They'll make so many of this model, then so many of the next and so on.
You think getting the 35 1.8 is hard, try waiting for a 600mm F4. I waited 7 months for mine to come in.

  • Order phone on BB RZ mobile site for in-store pick up and receive $50 Phone Freedom GC???

The BB RZ Mobile site is offering 5000 RZ points (4500 bonus points, plus 500 everyday points) for a purchasing and activating any smartphone. My question is if I order through the RZ mobile site and choose in-store pick up will I still get the $50 GC from the Phone Freedom promotion I registered for earlier in the year?

I am sure you will those are two seperate promotions. I got my bouns points and phone freedom GC card, I then used the GC towards the purchase of the phone.
