  • Error while performing SAP Installation in HA Env on Windows Server 2008

    Hello,
I am performing a SAP Installation in HA Environment on Windows Server 2008. I am at the ASCS installation step.
As per the guide before installing ASCS there are some activities to be carried out on Failover Cluster Management.
I have done all the steps except one as per the guide. I am stuck in the Add FileServer Step. In this step the guide says to go to the Dependencies tab and add the cluster disk resource to the dependencies list. It also says to add the Name:Virtual NetworkName to the dependencies list.
Now in my scenario I have 3 shared drives for SAP and I have added each of them in the dependencies list of the new FileServer. The only problem is how do I add the Name:Virtual NetworkName to this list
When I continue without giving the Network name the system issues a warning "This resource requires dependencies on instances of the following resource types or classes:Network Name. Not adding these dependencies will prevent the resource from working properly. Do you want to save the current settings anyway"
If I click on Yes and bring this resource online it fails with this error message
"The action Bring this resource online did not complete. An error occured while attempting to bring the resource 'SAPECC FileServer online'. The cluster resource could not be brought online by resource monitor."
My question is how to add the Name:VirtualNetworkName to the dependencies list of the FileServer.

    Hi,
I have resolved the issue with the help of cluster admin

  • Search help for Web Dynpro using the SAP-search help

    Hi,
I’m trying to create a generic search help for Web Dynpro using the SAP-search help. It should working so, that I construct a Web Dynpro-component, that gets the data of the search help from the SAP-system, interpreted it and creates the ui-elements and the needed context generic.
The mapping between the Input field of the customerview and the right search help is to be made with an xml-file, which contains the information: name of the view, the input field, the search-help-name and the name of the field that will be returned.
The xml-file is reading from a helper-class. That helper-class contains any information, witch need the search help-component as well as the customer-component.
The initialization takes place in the method wdDoModify of the customer. The call of the search help from the customer should be implement with an Action, witch is bound to a Button(create dynamic in the helper-class behind the input field).
In a second foot should be create a plugin for eclipse, witch insert the used files (search help component, helper class, …) in the project. In addition it should create the call in the customer generic.
It would be great if someone can give me a feedback!

    Hi Mike,
The BlanketAgreement.exe is a reference to the executable that will be created when you compile the solution you created in Part II - Part III. I think there is a mistake in the tutorial because it asks you to name the project 'Blanket' which means that by default the executable will be called Blanket.exe and not BlanketAgreement.exe. The tutorial also misses the step asking you to compile the Blanket project before you go on to create an installer. You should compile your Blanket project in Release mode before creating an installer. By compiling the project you'll get a Blanket.exe file in the bin folder of your Blanket project which you then need to add to the installer per the instructions.
SAP do offer development courses in some areas and there is training material here on the SDN and on the SAP partner portal (and maybe the customer portal as well). Try searching this forum for 'training' or 'tutorial' and you should get a few links. There's also a development certification.
Personally I'd recommend you give yourself a little project to work on and just get stuck in
    Kind Regards,

  • SAP installation guiengine:No GUI server connected;waiting for connection

    Hi All,
    I need one help
I am trying to install SAP ECC 6 in Redhat Linux 5 and database oracle
I have installed java 1.4.2_16, I have set the environmental variables also.
But if I start the SAP installation by executing SAPINST , I am facing the below error
guiengine: No GUI server connected; waiting for a connection on host welcome, port 21200 to continue with the installation
I have tried to execute xclock to check it, but its gives the below error
    ERROR: canu2019t open display: welcome:0.0
I found that before setting the below display environmental variable,  xclock worked good, but after setting the below display environmental variable, I am facing this error
    export DISPLAY=hostname:0.0
I searched for this error, some people posted that we have to change the display environmental variable like export DISPLAY=:0, set DISPLAY=:0.0,
I tried it but still facing the same No GUI server connected error.
I hope it will be a problem with display environmental variable and I have no other clues, please help me, Thanks.
    Thanks,
    Senthil.

    Hi,

Please send me with in a Hour if possible.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Pavan

    Hi
From service marketplace try downloading the TREX connectivity document for CRM and TREX 6.0 the steps are more or less the same for connectivty between CRM and TREX you need to  install TREX  in separate box followed by creating the RFC destination between crm and TREX at a time trex can be connected to one RFC destination only example CRM DEV with TREX or CRM QTY with TREX you cannot use TREX with QTY and DEV  at the same time .
you also need to do the customiseing settings for enterprise intelligence in CRM5.0 spro settings and use crmc_saftool transaction code for the further settings you can also use TREXADMIN transaction code for the TREX http server queue server and index server logs to check after establishing the connectivity for useing TREX for CRM ABAP stack is required for TREX for EP you need to use java stack for connectivity  between the systems
please do reward the points if helpful

  • Sap Installation Messed up (GUI not starting)

    Hi there,
I'm not sure if this is the right place to post... anyway I have a problem with my sap installation.
What happened is that I tried to install Adobe LiveCycle Designer using the SAP front end installer.
I left only the Adobe LiveCycle Designer  option checked (Business Explorer and SAP GUI were unchecked): the installation program started to install that software, and then began to uninstall the SAP GUI.  When I realized that I stopped the setup program, but the SAP GUI was obviously messed up.
The problem now is that I can't install the SAP GUI again, because the option doesn't show anymore in the setup program.
The feeling is that something is not consistent between the filesystem and the Windows register.
Does anybody experienced the same problem or has an idea on how to solve it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Hi MosMarco,
I am happy to hear that your problem is solved! But you didn´t need to thank me as you found the solution yourself!
Have a nice day and have fun with the Adobe tool!
P.S.: Please check that the Adobe editor is also actually working, because in the past I had some troubles with installing the wrong version! :-s

  • Installing Current patch set after SAP installation

    Hi,
We are installing SAP ECC6.0 on Solaris x64. We installed the Oracle RDBMS software and missed installing the Oracle Current patch set. We have proceeded with the SAP installation. Can we install the Patches after the SAP installation or do i need to uninstall SAP and do t all over again. Please help asap as i need to complete it..
    Regards
    Dee

    Hello Dee,
    > Can we install the Patches after the SAP installation or do i need to uninstall SAP and do t all over again
Of course you can install the patchset after the SAP installation. The current patchset is the 10.2.0.4.
After applying the current patchset - please install also the "on-top" patches - check sapnote #1137346 for this. Also check sapnote #830576 for setting the corresponding database parameters after the patchset installation.

  • SAP Installation Server & GUI 7.10 Remote Installation

    Hello!
We have installed an SAP Installation Server (8.1.0.104) with SAP GUI 7.10 (Patch 9) and created a package for SAP GUI. On our old installation server there was a "remote installation" button, but here on the new version, we cannot see it. Have there been some significant changes?
    Thanks for helpful answers!

I had basically the same question about remote installing the gui.  Here is a response from OSS about it.
I am sorry but we do not provide a Client Push Installation mechanism.
but only a method to pull a package from an installation server.
    Using for instance
    <SERVER>\<***>\sapsetup /update /silent
    for a pull scenario.
As stated in note 507996, tool like SMS can be used but you you use
    the [nw]Sapsetup option

  • SAPGUI & SAP Installation Server

    Hi experts,
Currently we build a front end package (single installation) then use SMS to push it out to every computer globally. But recently the packages are getting too big to use SMS.
So we consider the SAP Installation Server as our solution on this issue. But still some questions/concerns here need to give your help- who has used the SAP Installation Server already.
    1. Do we need some additional hardware requirements for this installation server? In my simple mind, it's just a software which can be running on Windows server.
    2. Do we need licensing considerations for this - SAP Installation Server?
    3. I have looked over the SAP installation Server guide, seems we don't need to do any maintenance of this. correct?
    4. The last question also it's the important one. .  How does the software delivery for SAPGUI work with SAP Installation Servers that may be decentralized around the globe? We are a global company, so it's impossible that just set up one installation server in headquarters.
Please any experts who has the similar experience give me the answer.
    Best regards,
    Mimi

Good morning, Mimi - We use SMS in combination with the SAP Frontend Installation Server. I will first answer your questions and then explain what we do.
    1. You do not necessarily need a dedicated server strictly for the installation server. You should not install multiple versions of the SAPGui on the same server. For instance, if you have both SAPGui 6.40 and SAPGui 7.10, you would want to use 2 separate servers as the installation servers.
    2. There is no additional licensing needed for a SAPGui installation server.
    3. The only maintenance required is the application of SAP frontend patches as they become available. The patches are applied to the installation server and then you run an update to get the patches from the installation server to the desktop.
    4. It is definitely better that you would not try to have a single installation server for a company with offices around the globe. This will increase your administration somewhat because you will have to manage multiple installation servers (applying patches, etc.). The software distribution mechanism of the installation server is that there are two services, a distribution service and an installation service. These are provided so that a user with non-admin privileges can initiate an update to the SAPGui on their desktop. This is an important consideration, because by default, both SAPGui 6.40 and SAPGui 7.10, when installed on the desktop, have a registry key set that automatically checks when SAPGui is launched to see if the patch level on the desktop is the same as the patch level on the installation server. If not, it initiates an update of the desktop. If the user does not have admin privileges, the update will fail.
The process that we utilize here is that we have one installation server. We duplicate the share where the installation server is installed to all of our SMS servers. We have SMS servers in most of our remote offices, so that when the SAPGui is pushed out, the package is not pushed over the WAN, but instead over the local network in that location, thus making it much faster and reducing the load on the WAN. We then run the SAPSetup command and supply the GUID of the package that we want to push out. We chose not to use the distribution and installation services since we want to be able to make sure that each desktop has the same patch level of the SAPGui. So we used the following scripts to disable the automatic update check:
    6.40:
<i>Engine.Context.Log.Write "Event 'SAPGUI640_NONADMIN_OnEndInstall' has been invoked"
         Engine.Shell.SetRegValue "HKLM\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPSetup\SAPstart\AutoUpdate\SapLgPad.exe", "REG_SZ", "ForceOff"
    Engine.Context.Log.Write "Event 'SAPGUI640_NONADMIN_OnEndInstall' has finished"</i>
    7.10:
<i>NWEngine.Context.Log.Write "Event 'SAPGUI710_SAPGUI710_NONADMIN_OnEndInstall' has been invoked"
    Engine.Shell.SetRegValue "HKLM\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPSetup\SapStart\AutoUpdate\SapLogon.exe\UpdateMode", "REG_SZ", "ForceOff"
    Engine.Shell.SetRegValue "HKLM\SOFTWARE\SAP\SAPSetup\SapStart\AutoUpdate\SapLgPad.exe\UpdateMode", "REG_SZ", "ForceOff"
    NWEngine.Context.Log.Write "Event 'SAPGUI710_SAPGUI710_NONADMIN_OnEndInstall' has finished"</i>
We have found this to be a very manageable setup.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need more information.

  • SAP Installation Order

I would like to solicit your views on which should actually comes first in terms of installation sequence - is it DB Instance then Central Instance or the other way around. Is there a standard order for all setups or it various like for Unix and Windows?
As practice, I usually install Central Instance then followed by DB Instance - did this for Windows and Oracle. With Informix, I had this issue where setup won't proceed because it is trying to locate the database. I have read some materials where for Linux there is an order prescribed along with Windows. With this, I wish to know by practice about your idea on this. Thank you.
    Thanks.

    Hi Ryan,
    Welcome to SDN...
I disagree... Usually you install the DB instance first... at lease this is the case with MSSQL, MAXDB and DB2/DB6...  Oracle is the exception to the rule... and even Oracle usually do part of the installation of the CI then the installation pauses for you to install the DB and then resume the installation... this is because 90% of the SAP installation process is create and populate the DB. So basically and by definition you can't have a funtional CI without a DB.
This procedures are well defined in the installation guides for the OS and DB of your choice.
    Hope this help

  • Sap installation screen shots on UNIX platform

    hi friends,
can any one send or guide me in getting me the SAP INSTALLATION screen shots on UNIX platform..
    pls mail to [email protected]
    regards,
    satish.

"Unix" is a generic term for operating systems based on the initial AT & T operating system. There are many flavors of it - on some of them you can install a SAP system, on others not.
    There is (for SAP)
    AIX
    HP-UX (on PA-RISC and IA64)
    Solaris (on SPARC and x86_64)
    Linux (on x86, x86_64, IA64, Power)
Each one of those has its specialties and special configuration. So without knowing to what "Unix" you are referring, your question can't be answered that easily.
On top of that, using screenshots to install software is a pretty bad idea. I may work for the one who did those but it may not for you if you have a different hardware configuration, more or less memory, different filesystem layout etc. In that case, you will cry for help the first time you see an error message - and since you don't know what the system was trying to do, you can't find a solution for it.
Therefore it's MUCH better to use the (very good) installation guides, they will tell you what you need to do, they will explain everything much more in detail than a "screenshot document" could tell you.
Use the given link to get your guide and try - and if you have problems, ask your questions in the appropriate forum - I'm sure there are people willing to help (including me).

  • Installing SAP HTML Help Library

    Dear All,
I am trying to install SAP library on SAP SolutionManager 7.1 server.
I have followed the steps mentioned in the Online documentation CD ( Read me and online
    documentation PDF fils).
I am trying to install HTMTHelp library.
I have followed the following steps :
    1. Copy the directory Htmlhelp\Helpdata\<language key> with all its subdirectories
from the DVD to the documentation directory on the server.
I installed using SAP Installation Master.
    Later defined the setup variants.
    1 . T.code SR13
2 . select the HtmlHelpFile tab page.
Switched to the change mode and entered the following details :
    Variant = saphelp
    platform = windowsNT
    Area = IWBHELP
    Path =
    <Servername>\c:\sapdcoument\HTMLHelp
    Language = EN
    Default = enable
I have saved the changes and it asked me to create the change request.
When i click on the Help -> Application help or SAP library under the help menu
it is giving me the error " No Documentation available ".
Could some one help me with this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Ishan

    Hello,
First you try to configure and use online sap help in SR13. If you feel it right, you can keep this online help configuration intact otherwise try offline help configuration later. 'Platform' value should be WN32.
Please try to refer the method mentioned by 'Guest'
    Configuring online help
For windows 32bit, please use WN32 instead of Windows NT.
For Solution Manager, you can use path: saphelp_sm71_sp01/helpdata
Overall data for the tab 'tab PlainHtmlHttp' would be -
    Variant: WIN32/saphelp/anything
    Platform: WN32
    Area: IWBHELP
    server names: help.sap.com
    path: saphelp_sm71_sp01/helpdata
    language:EN
    default: put it check marked
    Thanks
