SAP knowledge base objects

what are SAP knowledge base objects. why do we use them and what are the transactions used for that.

If you have a configurable product in R/3 system and you want to download the configuration in CRM you have to create a KB and its Runtime version. You can download the KB to CRM via MW with the help of the adaptor object SCE. Configration will come to CRM and stores it in IPC so you need to have up and runnign IPC in order to see the configuration of a product in CRM.
Knowledgebase - Related R/3 transactions are CU31/CU34 etc...
How to create a KB:
Use transaction CU31 to create the knowledge base.
- Select a name for the knowledge base object, for example the
material number, and choose ENTER.
- Select a description and set the status to 'Release'.
- Select 'Profile' to go to the knowledge base profile.
- Select a name and a description again.
- Save the knowledge base.
- Use transaction CU34 to create the runtime version.
- Enter the knowledge base and assign a version number, for example 1.
- Fill the 'Status', 'Plant' and 'BOM application' fields.
- Then choose 'Generate & save'.
- Use transaction CU36 to export the knowledge base.
- Fill the 'Knowledge base object' and 'Runtime version' fields with
the data to be exported. Then choose ENTER.
- On the next screen, choose 'Download'
- Choose ENTER to confirm any dialog boxes that may appear.

  • Knowledge Base Version Determination in Sales order in SAP CRM

    Hello everyone
I am facing a problem where recently a Configurable Item's Variant Class was modified.
After this we created a Knowledge Base Object & Run Time Version in ECC.
This has correctly replicated to CRM & can be correctly simulated in the Product Workbench.
However when I place a Sales Order, the IPC is still picking up the older Knowledge Base Object.
So my question is how is the Sales Order Product configurator in CRM determines which Knowledge based object version to be used ?
Note: The latest KBO which the Order should ideally use was created on the same day after abt an hour of the older one.
Just in case the issue has anything to do with the dates.
    Please help.
    Vinit

    Nilesh,
E-Commerce B2B design hinges on an assumption that the Contact Person (alias for the Logged in User)  has multiple Sold-Tos and one should pick the Sold-To for creating the order. That is, the application knows the Contact Person already and forces you to pick a Sold-To first. There is no partner determination per-se. It is hard-wired logic.  The following Business partners are set instead of being determined.
    <li>Contact Person - SU01 user alias etc.
<li>Sold-To - Through Contact person to Sold-To relationship
Remember, in CRM for the E-Commerce B2B to work, the logging in user (SU01 user) must be Internet enabled - aka - must have a Contact Person alias and the Contact person must have at least one Sold-To. And that is what is used in the above logic.
The SAPGUI version gives ways to select and set the partners the way we want by way of the Partner determination procedure . However, these config changes are not automatically reflected in the Web world. You have to make a similar change in the sequence of determining the partner. Like, selecting the Ship-To first and then the Sold-To. That will be custom modification. :..-(
    A solution from10,000 foot level:
Maintain a similar relationship for Contact Person to Ship-To in Business partner. Or more sleek way will be to develop a custom function module to get all the Ship-Tos of the Sold-Tos the Contact Person (SU01 user alias) is related to. - Custom ABAP + configuration work
Change the standard E-Commerce flow to show a list of Ship-Tos as determined in the previous step. - Custom Java + application configuration work
Determine the Sold-To automatically from Ship-To by whatever logic you use now. - ABAP + Java
Set these new partners in the E-Commerce application.- Java
    Create orders and be happy

  • Error while generating Data Objects in sdoe_wb SAP for Basis component

    Dear all,
While generating SAP BASIS Components getting error
After installations of SAP Netweaver Mobile 7.1 SP11 and all the Notes applied for SP11 i have done the Generation for all the SAP BASIS Data Objects
All the Data objects are generated except AGENT_CONFIG, ARCHIVE
When i check the same in smq2 it shows the error in Function module SDOE_GENERATE_MBO for the user FUNC001,in status text it shows "connection closed (no data)"
    kindly help on this issue.
    Regards
    Revanth

    Hi,
well, I guess if you mean you did reset the queue - you deleted all emtries with error. Try to avoid this in the future - you will get unwanted side effects by that. There are only a few errors that make this behaviour necessary.
Usually you should select the entry on the first screen - so you see the status of the queue on the second one. On there you can select the queue and while pressing the green tick, you can restart it. If it is a timeout - this restart usually helps.
Wondering why you have an issue with basis objects - did you run through the complete setup guide up to this point?
    Regard,
    Oliver

  • Generating Proxies for SAP Basis Objects?

    All,
Is it possible to generate proxies for your interfaces under SAP Basis Component?
    1. I checked in SPROXY on my R3 and the SAP Basis Component is not displayed  here. What I also noticed is that none of the SWCV's containing Pre Delivered Integration Content is displayed in SPROXY.
Is it necessary that the options , <b>All Objects are Modifiable and Original Objects</b> be selected for Proxies to be generated on the SAP Shipped SWCV's?
    2. As a work around ( one which did not work ) I created a Depenedency in the SLD for my SWCV on the SAP BASIS Swcv and I am now able to see the BASIS Objects in the IR under my Custom SWCV .
But even then in SPROXY , (basis Objects )message interfaces are not displayed.
Has anyone tried something of this sort? Is there some setting we need to do to enable proxy generation for SAP Delivered Components?
    Regards
    Bhavesh
PS: I am able to see my custom SWCV in SPROXY and trigger proxy calls Successfully.
I can generate a Custom Messge interface using the Message Type of the SAP Basis Component and create the Proxy to this Message interface . But, I just want to know if anyone has had success with the above concepts

    ><i>but they are already generated... do you see that ?</i>
I did notice it. But didnt dig deep enough . Will give this a real close look tom morning .
<i>>>>>Does this imply, that we cannot generae proxies on SAP Basis Components?
    indeed</i>
That answered my Question  Thanks for the info.
I guess I will have to create a message Interface will the Message Type from the BASIS Component and use this Message Interface.
The only issue I am now wondering with this approach would be, what if the Message Type structure changes during some SP upgrade? Due to some new feature being added?
    Any experiences to share michal?
Thanks a bunch for all those inputs.
    Regards
    Bhavesh

  • CDMC UCIA : Information on knowledge base scenario

    Hi all,
I want to use the scenario CDMC UCIA with knowledge base.
In note "Note 1321095 - CDMC UCIA : Information on knowledge base scenario" it says that I need:
"extract the list into the    excel file and send the to service provider or partner that    creates the knowledge base content to get the complete object    details of the particular objects."
What exactly I need to send to service provider?
Can I do it myself and not use a service provider?
I only did it with a reference system. is anyone has experience with knowledge base scenario? is it the same?
    Best regards,
    Lior Grinberg

    Hello Lior,
You can do by yourself, but you have to install a sap system with the same version of the target system of the upgrade.
According to the SAP Note 1321095 you have to:
    Log on to knowledgebase system.
    - Start the transaction: CNVCDMC_EXTRACT_KB.
(Execution time: approximately 4 hours, might vary depending
on the number of customer objects).
    - Make sure to follow the below steps to change the format of the
Excel file received via- email before uploading it, using the
    transaction CNVCDMC_EXTRACT_KB.
    - Open a new Excel file by going to Windows -> Start.
    - Now go to the Menu bar -> File -> Open and open the Excel file
that you have received via- email from the customer.
    - Now you can see the 'Text Import Wizard' popup on the screen.
Change the parameter 'Start import at row' in the popup to 6
and click on the 'Finish button' and finally save this
    document.
    - Upload the excel file obtained by following the above steps and
fill the Knowledgebase name and the end release
    Best Regards,
    Jader Coelho.

  • Base object costing

i need an overview of base object costing and base object planning in product costing with an scenario where it is exactly used

    HI,
I guess, you are referring to 'Base Planning Object' in simulation costing.
Base planning object allows you to enter a quantity structure manually, so you can costs without accessing BOMs, routings etc., With this you can cost new products (without material master). It is like a master record (with your own name) for which can create a cost estimate. It is excel like sheet where you can enter you costs. You still refer to a Costing variant here which is not the normal cost variant, though.
So, this functionality is used in simulation costing, especially for new products for which you don't have the master data defined in SAP.
Check this [link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/cf/6fe5bc414f11d182b10000e829fbfe/frameset.htm] for more details.

  • L1 support knowledge base

    Hi,
What kind of SAP knowledge needs to be possessed by personnel providing SAP L1 support?
    Regards
    Deepthi

    Hi,
Apart from the points discussed above you can have an idea about the below points.
    1. Your company should have the module wise FAQs of the applications that the users use on a day to day basis. This FAQs should cover many of the common error and their solutions. As an L1 person you should guide the user to such FAQs. If this kind of FAQs are not there, you should co-ordinate with the concerned teams to get this up and available for the users.
    2. Users may face issues with login like password problem, authorisation problem to access a particular tcode etc. Some times L1 team might themselves be given authority to handle this or need to co-ordinate with basis etc.
    3. Some users may face issues in downloading a certain reports (custom and/or standard). You should guide them here.
    4. Some users may face issues that a certain report is running long today, than previous days. In this case you can co-ordinate with basis team to get some clue.
    5. In case if its beyond your reach to solve the issue, you should escalate the issue to the next level and keep the users updated about the progress of the issue.
    Regards
    Vimal

  • Difference between SAP SCM BASIS 5.0 & SNC 7.0 SWC

    Hi Guys,
Is 'SNC 7.0' SWC mandatorily required for SAP SNC 7.0 system.
Can't we still use the 'SAP SCM BASIS 5.0' SWC for an upgraded ICH 5.0 to SNC 7.0.
If yes (SNC 7.0 is required), then are there any strucural changes in the intefaces like RON_IN... from 5.0 to 7.0?
If No, then just implementing the BADI's will resolve the upgrade?
    - $andeep

    1. In Infosets now you can include Infocubes as well.
    2. The Remodeling transaction helps you add new key figure and characteristics and handles historical data as well without much hassle. This is only for info cube.
    3. The BI accelerator (for now only for infocubes) helps in reducing query run time by almost a factor of 10 - 100. This BI accl is a separate box and would cost more. Vendors for these would be HP or IBM.
    4. The monitoring has been imprvoed with a new portal based cockpit. Which means you would need to have an EP guy in ur project for implementing the portal !
    5. Search functionality hass improved!! You can search any object. Not like 3.5
    6. Transformations are in and routines are passe! Yess, you can always revert to the old transactions too

How do I clean up my new FIOS connection? I just cahnged ISP Fios and they reqquired a router of thier own in front of my AirPort Extreme. Since then I have blinking yellow light on the AirPort and AirPort utility keeps promting for an edit. Suggests canging from NAT to "Bridge mode". Obviuosly U have some internet or this post would not go anywhere, my knowledge base is not enought to feel comfortable with changing the settings. Correctly editing can be tricky, so how do I make necessary changes?

How do I clean up my new FIOS connection?
The FIOS router needs to be in Bridge Mode to prevent the Double NAT error from occurring when two routers are both fighting with each other for control of the network.
Unfortunately, the likely problem from the FIOS side is that FIOS support will either tell you that their router cannot be configured to operate in Bridge Mode, or if it can, they will not tell you how to do it.
But, it could not hurt to check with FIOS to see if anything might have changed recently in this regard, so your first call would be to FIOS support.
If you cannot change the FIOS router to Bridge Mode, the alternate plan would be to change the AirPort Extreme to Bridge Mode. If you are using the Guest Network feature on the AirPort Extreme at this time, that feature will not work correctly when the AirPort is set up in Bridge Mode.
