SAP WM Cutover

It is intended to implement SAP WM module at my company.
For the cut-over activities, is it possible to create a warehouse on the existing storage location with material stock?
i intend to adopt the following procedure
- issue the existing stock of all materials to a cost center
- send the transport for WM onto the PRD server
- extend WM views on the target materials
- create the storage bins for material placement in the system
- reverse the material issue document to bring the stock back
- place it in the relevant storage bin
Experts, I would like to inquire if the above mentioned procedure is ok?

It is one of the possible solutions for cutover.
You will need to create settings in WM/IM interface for movement type - reversal of post to cost center in order to tell WM what to do with the materials being received in warehouse by that movement type.
Also, your storage location must be put under warehouse number (assign SLoc to WhNum) after cost center issue and before the cost center issue reversal.
So the answer is yes, but you will only need to change one thing in your approach, you need to deploy WM settings on production server (release requests with all the WM settings) AFTER you post the mat.doc. for cost center.
Although it is possible to do what you want, it is a practice to use a new storage location for WM. But your solution is perfectly valid if you want to keep your SLoc.
Also, most of the time we can use movement types 561 and 562 for the inital stock upload, or move the stock to a new fictional SLoc and then after deploying WM settings on PROD we just post Sloc to Sloc - movement type 311. So basically any approach that suits you best is OK to go with.
Hope this helps.

  • SAP WM cutover open orders

While doing cutover activity what should be the status of the Open production order, open purchase order &  open deliveries for sales.
We are using fixed bin for production staging  so release production order etc it will not create transfer requirement.
So as per my understanding if I have open production order or purchase order then no issues.
Also I should not have any open delivery while migrating to wm.
    Kindly confirm your views.

what do you mean by "as I am using fixed bin in production staging"
Does this mean that you are not going to take into consideration the BOM quantity required from production order / process order ? or are you going to transfer a fixed quantity every time to the line side irrespective of the qty required by process order / production order

please give us details of ...
where you are on the upgrade
landscape you are trying to upgrade
    nature of systems ....
    cutover depends on :
    1. criticality of systems and their availability
    2. Nature of upgrade - if you are upgrading your sandbox - then cutover is just a formality
    3. Ensuring that no data loss happens...
Please be more specific - also search the forums on the same ..... this has been discussed a lot many times...
since you have not given details - I expect that you will be adding more details to your post and am not locking your post....

  • Plano de Cutover/Credenciamento

    Ola colegas,

    Att.
    Henrique.

  • CUTOVER PR PO

1.In our legacy system we donot have any Acct.Assingment field. in PR/PO ,how we should take care will uploading of cutover data
    2. Which PR should i take whether all approved ,or pendings also
    3.what about PO
    rEGARDS
    SAM

    Hi,
1.In legassy system if there are no consumption PO's you can upload the PR/PO's in SAP as stock one's only.
2.It depends on the company requirement. If company wants the history records of PR's and PO's in SAP from perticular date onwards then you need to load all the PR's and PO's from that date.Or if the company wants only PR's or PO's which are open only then you have to load the PR's or PO's for open quantities (even partial quantities) only.
3.In case of PO's if want the total history of the PO's that you are loading (i.e.GR's done against the PO's and invoices verified against the PO's) then you need to load the PO's for the total quantities. And up load the GR's and invoices against the PO's.

  • SAP Support for Classic G/L in ECC 6.0 and above

    Hello,
Running an SAP upgrade project from 4.6C to ECC 6.0 (EHP6). The customer is running the existing release since the past 8 years with FI/CO, MM,SD,PM and HCM modules.
We are exploring the possibilities and repercussions of moving on to new G/L from the legacy classic G/L. Please have a look at the mentioned points for replies accordingly.
    1. As far as I understand, if need to seamlessly transit in the ECC 6.0 with New G/L in a way that the old transactional data, and all balances are retained with historical records, then we need to purchase the SAP New G/L Migration Services, and this would be lead and done by SAP. There is no alternate way of doing it solely by our ownself, Is this correct ?. If we engage SAP for this migration exercise and consulting then does it ensure that all historical data and balances are moved intact in the new G/L environment and from an end user perspective all transactional done to date before moving in ECC 6.0 are retained.
    2. I guess we still need to review the integration impact of the new G/L for all other modules, is there a substantial rework to be done or with minimal effort, new account assignments and related configuration can be altered .
    3. If we don't opt for SAP G/L Migration service but still want to activate and use the new G/L and profit center accounting, then as far as myself and my team assess, we need to decide a cutover date and gather the balances/open items from the legacy G/L and upload them to the new G/L in ECC 6.0, just as it would be the case for a fresh new implementation for a customer coming from non-SAP environment. If this is correct then :
The customer will lose all historical, detailed transactional data with respect to the legacy G/L and relevant originating entries. In such case for any business reporting requirement, the customer has to keep a separate PRD server alive in a dormant state for fetching the data before the transition in ECC 6.0 environment. Is this the correct understanding and the only possible approach, can there be a better way of ensuring the availability of historical data.
In such a case of doing a cutover data migration from old G/L to new G/L, do we have to upload the rest of the master/transactional data for all other modules as well, enacting a situation that all of them started as fresh new modules in ECC.6.0,  or the legacy master / transactional data for all other modules can be kept intact for historical purposes. (examples, all vendors and PO / sales order and customer master / employee master and all payroll historical records for past 8 years).
    4. Any indication or official SAP note, that for how long SAP intends to support the legacy G/L in the upcoming ECC versions. It is necessary to know in case the customer currently opts for still continuing with the classic G/L in ECC 6.0 , but we have a lurking danger that SAP would stop the support and availability of legacy classic G/L in the near future. So to a have a long term sustainable benefit, we might deliberate with the customer to take a bitter sip now , and move on to the new G/L with all its bells/whistles and the nuisances it might bring in terms of historical transaction data unavailability.
I hope i was able to make my scenario clearly understandable for having some valuable input from the forum members.
Thanks a lot for reading and replying.

    Hi Syed,
From Technical basis perspective there is not much work in newGL migration apart from application and database tuning.
Time taken for migrating to newGL will depend upon number of open items available in the system at the time of migration.
Most of your queries are functional and suggestion would be to move this thread to ERP Financials.

  • Moving SAP Content Server/MaxDB 7.6 to a Windows 2008 R2 Server

    Hi All.
We are in the process of upgrading our server where the SAP content server is located.  We are going from SAP CS 6.30/MaxDB 7.6 to a Windows 2008 R2 server where we want to install SAP CS 6.40/MaxDB 7.8.  I have been following the latest manual from SAP for upgrading to MaxDb 7.8  (2010-10-05) from MaxDb 7.6 using the in-place method.
To date we have installed MaxDB 7.6 on the server.  We restored our latest backup and performed the index checks as spelled out in the manual.  I have the database in ADMIN mode and went to run the MaxDb 7.8 install for the 64 bit window version.  THe install GUI comes up, but the Update selection is grayed out.  This tells me that the install program can not detect our existing database.  I did make sure I was running the install as Admim so I do not think that is the issue.
This is the second time I have tried this upgrade.  The first time I did a comand line upgrade by runing the .bat file DBUPDATE.bat. We have a 110 Gbyte database and this upgrade ran in about 15 minutes, and of course when I went to openthe database it was toast.  Do not want to make the same mistake again.
One other point, since we did a restore of the database, then the index check, we did not run a backup as the manual suggested as we felt it was not necessary.  Does the system require a backup before upgrade and that is why it does not see the database?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I beleive we have resolved the issue with upgrading the database, but now we are having a problem with Datbase Studio 7.8.  Before the upgrade we used Data Manager 7.6.  After the upgrade we installed Database Studio 7.8 and when we go to start it up, we are getting the Problems opening perspective 'com.sap.sdb.tools.ut.perspectives.mainPerspective'. I followed the instruction in another post Problems opening perspective in Database Studio, but we still are getting the error.
Can anybody offer any assistance as we are getting close to the weekend when we want to do the cutover and we are not even done with our first pass at upgrading the SAP content server.
    Thanks
    John

  • Vendor cutover / open items upload

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I am going to upload vendor open items / cutover data on the server before GOLIVE. I just need to know whether the open items are to be uploaded :
inclusive of the TDS i.e the Gross amount
    OR
It has to be without the TDS amount and the TDS amount is uploaded seperately.
    Regards
    Nikit

    Dear Chintan,
Thanks a lot for your prompt reply. But tell me one thing, that if I upload the balances w/o the TDS amount what posting keys are to be used. If i use keys 31 for vendor and 40 for GL upload account and upload through F-02, then the system takes the TDS rates from the vendor master and calculates TDS on it and post to the TDS payable GL accounts.
so for example if the original entry is
    Expense a/c dr...100
    to vendor a/c .......90
    to tds pbl /ac.........10
and I upload only with the net vendor amount of 90 the system will again post
    GL upload a/c dr.......90
    to vendor a/c ...........81
    to TDS pbl /ac..........9.
So this will be double calculation of TDS.
So could you kindly let me know what is the proper procedure to upload and with what t.code and posting keys?
    Regards
    Nikit

  • Cutover Strategy

    Hello all,
Can any body explain me about cutover strategy,
the scenario is my client is paying full advance payment against PO  and but recived half material so PO is open . How we can expalin to client to prepare cutover plan startegy to prepare cutover data.
    Suggest.

    Hi ,
Cutover strategy in SAP implementation or any other implementation is client specific . It depends on organisation data load strategies .
as example , in simple words for MDM it means that after cutover - all data will be used of MDM and not legacy systems . for central master data scnerio ; Data before cutover date will be maintained in all systems and after cutover date , it will be maintained in MDM only .
Hope this clarfies your Query .

    Hi all,
Basically we have 2 companies which will be merged to one. what would be
the data cutover activities (MM perspective) during merger?
May I know more details (particularly transaction details) on
    Inventory upload,
    physical inventories and value adjustments,
other open items/ balances in financial accounting,
    Open PO and PR
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
There are lot of issues that you need to take care of:
    1. is there any relation bwteeen the two company codes before merger. have they done any transactions between them? If yes, what wewould be the accounting treatment for the same. Would it be transferred at cost or Cost+Price (Transfer Price)
    2. If you are in India, there would be effects of taxation like excise and vat calculations
    3. One of the most important issue, is that of the new fiscal year. What strategy would you follow for the merged entity? In Sap, changing a fiscal year is a critical issue. Request you to refer SAP Help for the same. There are notes available for the same
    4. What would be the strategy for Asset valuations? Are there different asset valuation procedures followed in the two company codes?
    Thanks & regards

  • Precutover issue in sap sd

    Hi freinds,
Can any one help me out, As we are about to go for implemetnation, as an sap SD consultant what would be by role during cutover and precutover strategy.
    Thanks

    Hi Naren,
I am taking about the standard process of SAP.
Just try entry with Outcome as A while defining substitute reason and then process the order.
It will show both the old and new material with item category as TAX and TAPS respectively.
TAX for non- stock item- means as of now the material is not available.
TAPS- the new material which has replaced the old material.
Now, if you will see the configuration of item category TAX and TAPS in IDES, it would be more clearer as I mentioned in the first update.
The only issue is - I am facing a problem in billing.
Now if you re-consider my post, I guess it would be more clearer.
However, the issue is that in billing its not showing the right price.
    Please suggest.
    Configuration -
    Item category- TAX- Old material.
    Billing relevance- A
    Stats- X
    Pricing- NO
    Item Category- TAPS- New materail
    Billing Relevance- A
    Stats- NO
    Pricing- Yes
Because I want both the material in billing, so billing relevance is A.
And I want the price of new material so for TAPS pricing - Yes.
But every time I am trying system is taking the price of TAX. Not sure why?
If I make it as vice- verse, thinking lets take the price of new material, now the system is taking the price of old .
