  • Migration from 10g to 11i using sapinst - system copy

    Hi ,
We are planning to migrate from our current platform to new platform.
    Current Platform :  windows 2003,oracle 10g , ecc6.0
    Target :  Windows 2008 R2 , oracle 11g , ecc6.0
The process we are going to follow is system copy (Import/Export)
what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
What about the kernel and Export ?
Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.
    Thanks,
    Neel

    Hello,
    >> what are the Prerequisites for the for the same.
    Read the system copy guide
    >> Do we have to need Sap netwever 7.0 sr3 atleast to carry out import / export.
No, all versions are valid. Read the system copy guide according to your NW version.
    >> Is it compatible to move from 10g to 11g using sapinst system copy.
Yes, absolutely. On target system you install 11g software.

Please help us to what username and password we can give....i am from oracle backgroud so i am a newbie in maxdb.
    Source System

    OS Redhat 5.4
    SAPSID   WIA
    Target system
    ECC 6.0
    OS Redhat   5.4
    SAPSID    WID
Now i am going to Create Quality Server for my landscape using homogenoues system copy ....option in target machine...  and I have taken database backup (offline backup) also...
But during system copy it is asking for Database recovery . For recovery i am using DATABASE MANAGER TOOL  (DBMGUI 7.6 maxdb) but it is asking for IP ,DBname username and password.
I have given the IP and DB Name but  dont know the username  and password for the target Machine SAPSID
Because at the time of system copy it asked for database recovery before creating the database users phase .
I checked with xuser list from command line it is showing no values.
Tried with the username and password given at OS level and the password for Source system but no luck.
    So what to do.....

    Hi,
    thanks for your reply.
I am sahil garg and amkum82 user  we both are working on the same issue.

We have are following the 129352 note for homogenous system copy.
          2. Target system:
                b) Restore:
Before the restore, you must initialize the target instance. This initialization formats the log area. Data volumes are only formatted if they are not configured as raw devices and are not available in the configured size.

  • Error while importing data using SAPINST system copy method

    Dear Friends,
I am in process of doing system copy from production to Quality.
    OS: Linux

We have completed export from production. I have uninstalled quality system before importing, uninstall of quality system was succesful. Know while importing the exported data by using sapinst method, i am getting error in phase define parameter. Where it is showing error as below.

    Hi ,
This is probably due to shutdown of the system not correctly.
you will have to re-create control file.

  • PI 7.0 system copy - wrong J2ee cluster ids

I have performed a system copy of PI however the cluster ids numbers are from the source. where do I change this to update the correct IDs.
Do I update the instance properties file (if so which one) or do I use the configtool to change these.
    Thanks
    Mikie

    Hi,
You need to check if the Exchange Profile parameters are pointing to the correct host name, port etc. If it is incorrect in the copied system, correct them with correct values going thro the parameters list. If you have any other Dev, Quality system in the landscape you can refer to them, if required.
To Open the Exchange Profile: In the SAP XI Home Page -> click Administration Link or use the link: http://<XI Server Host>:<J2EE port>/rep/support/admin/index.html. Then select the Exchange Profile list in the Left side of the page.
    Hope this will be helpful.

  • Login to the SAP System and opening a new modus takes too long

    Hello friends
I have a problem on my SAP ECC 6.0 system. When some users (but not all users) try to login (via SAPGUI) or open new modi this takes within 5 minutes to happen. I have allready excluded local hardware problems on the client PCs (You can logon on the same computer with another user without having that delay).
In Sapgui the Option "Extras - Settings - Do not display picture"  is already set.
Could anyone give me a hint please in which direction I could search for the solution? This would be very helpful.
    Thanks a lot in advance!

  • System copy sapinst method no java engine found

    Hi all,
I have completed my system copy of R3 ECC 6.0 and BI7 system to another machines for testing purpose using sapinst method.
Basically i have used installation master DVD and went for option Additional software life cycle _ system copy -- Source system - Based on abap + java -- Export
and then along with DDLs from  SMIGR_CREATE_DDL program i have prepared Export and performed Import at target machine with
installation master DVD and went for option Additional software life cycle _ system copy -- Target system - Based on abap + java -- Import
    Give different hostname this time.
all phases successfully completed in both machines and i am able to login to both systems successfully.
But unfortunately i dont find j2ee_process table in MMC ( as i have in source system ) , but everything is green
in MMC and smicm transaction shows no HTTP port entry but again green signal.
Is there anything else to carry out to get j2ee_engine working at target system.
also http://host:port/nwa for target system not working ,
Can anybody throw some light on this issue , initially i was struglling for getting this import successfully done but now j2ee_process table is an issue for me.
    Best Regards,
    AjitR

Since it is Test machine , i tried with option
Additional software life cycle tasks --> java Add in for ABAP --> central system -->
    central service instance java addin
and provided required inputs for screens and task completed .
Now i can see j2ee process table under MMC .
Is this normal scenario we should do after system copy through SAPINST ?
If i have performed sapinst system copy for ABAP + java system then why it was not included in first import success ?

  • How to perform system copy using standard sap method (sapinst)

    Hi guys
pls tel how to perform system copy using standard sap method (sapinst) and to perform enterprise portal RESTORSTION.
    thanks
    kamal

    Hi Kamal,
I have done a system copy of the production portal to a sandpit system before. The system copy export import method works very well, and is easy. For my portal, the whole procedure took me less than 6 hours.
    1. Go to this page: System Copy and Migration
    2. See the videos "Demo: How to Perform a System Copy Export" and "Demo: How to Perform a System Copy Import".
This should give you the basic idea.
I did a systemcopy using sapinst. If I remember right, this is the steps I performed:
    1. On target host, Installed a new Central services.
    2. On source host: Ran sapinst system copy export for Central Instance and Database instance. This created two export files (depending on your database size).
    3. Used the export files created in previous step to run the import step in target host.
    4. Some post processing steps, like configuring sso, creating systems in system landscapes, configuring WD JCos etc.
Let me know if you need more help.
    Cheers
    Rishi

    Thank you,
    Mariana

    Dear Christian,
yes, I solved this LOAD_SYSTAB problem.
    This is what I did:
    1. check XCMDOUT.LOG
    2. However in my case, I did not see any clue there, so I read this link about LOAD_SYSTAB http://maxdb.sap.com/doc/7_7/45/11cbd6459d7201e10000000a155369/content.htm
    I tried it manually, and it worked: dbmcli u2013d <DB_ID> u2013u DBMUser,password1 load_systab u2013u superdba,password2
From there, I know that I entered the wrong SYSADM User (superdba) password, this password was in my case the same one a SAPinst Master Password.
    According to https://websmp130.sap-ag.de/sap(bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=25591
a new installation of MaxDB database, by default, the credential for SYSADM is: "superdba, admin"
    So, accordingly, the solution is:
change the SYSADM for the <DB_ID> in DBMGUI: D7D - Configuration - Database User area, exactly as the SAPinst Master Passwort.
    Hope this helps.

    Mariana

  • ECC 6 with EHP system copy

    Hi,
    Just a little question :
We Are on a Windows MSSQL environnement
did a fresh upgrade of our landscape ECC6 old SP -> EHP4 stack 5
made a copy of our system -> update on this copy
now I'd like to do 2 things
1 copy of the updated system on a blank computer with different SID (did not have QUAL and I'd like to create one by copying )
    2 refresh the original system
    For point 1
I thought about doing a basic Sapinst system copy, but everytime I did this before I was using a Installation MasterDVD containing kernel and system description file (xml)
How could I do that ?
What should be the process ?
for point 2 I have in mind to :
    stop the instance
    detach the DB
replace the old kernel files with  the up to date kernel (copy /usr )
attach a copy of the up to date db
Will it work? What should be the process ?

    Hello Edouard,
copy of the updated system on a blank computer with different SID
It is better to use SAPINST to do a system copy as your SID changes. The SAPINST will take care of the SID updation in SAP as well as in MS SQL DB.
I did this before I was using a Installation MasterDVD containing kernel and system description file (xml)
If u have the latest kernel downloaded from SAP SMP, you can use that kernel itself by mapping the path in the section SAP Syetem > Unpack Archives in the SAPINST. This will extract the new kernel into the kernel directory and thus avoiding one more manual activity to upgrade the kernel.
    stop the instance
    detach the DB
replace the old kernel files with the up to date kernel (copy /usr )
attach a copy of the up to date db
If u r following the afore mentioned steps, this may become unnecessary.
Hope this will definitely help you.
Good Luck. I hope to here from u whether this helped u or not.

  • System Copy ERP6 using detach/attach MS SQL 2005

    Guys,
I am doing system copy from production to QAS system.
I have installed fresh ERP6 system (SR2) on the target system. Then detached the database and attached production database. Then while running sapinst (system copy) I have selected use existing system. After this I have got following error
"User tables belonging to the dbo schema were found in the database QAS
You can only install an SAP system in a database with no user objects belonnging to the system schema dbo.
If there already exists an SAP system in the databse(MCOD), or you Install a Java add-in, you might have to convert the existing system to its own schema,Or contact your SAP support."
I dont know what I am doing wrong?
Can you please tell me the steps involved before running sapinst (system copy)
    Thanks
    Santosh

    Hi,
    1. First find out the user created tabels in QAS system with Db schema owner.
    2. Then you can detach the db and then attache db.
    3. then you can start sapinst.
    4. here you have to give same schema id or different according your request.
    5. Finally you also look into the followinfg site.
http://service.sap.com/systemcopy--> homogeneous systemcopy for MS SQL server.

I have this dev system ECC 6.0 (SAP_SID and DB_SID: D01) ABAPJava system and enterprise portal 7.0 (SAP_SID and DB_SID: P01) on the same host (hostname: host1). Now I need to do a system copy of the D01 ABAPJava system to build new system D02 on the same host - host1. Its Oracle 10g/Solaris 10.
My understanding is, after all preparations, to run sapinst with the 'database-independent procedure' to export ABAP+Java at the same time, which creates the Migration Export CD image. Does anyone know of any issues with system copies on the same host? I think I dont need to install Oracle software as its already there, right? I need to get the oracle and sap directories created for the new system D02, please correct me.
    Thanks
    Ali

    Hi,
My understand was have the same installation of ABAP+JAVA ( UR CASE) which will install oracle and everything else auto...and lauch sapinst >> system copy >> then export to anyfolder, move that folder to target system. In target system, launch sapinst >> system copy>> and import.
    Thanks,

  • Obsolete Entries in SM04 After System Copy

In my QAS system when performing  SM04  --> GoTo --> Terminals, I see many entries from my production servers.  I can tell from the Logon Date that it stems from when I did my system copy to QAS.  I am assuming there is some table that needs to be cleared.  Does anyone happen to know what it is so I can add it to my checklist?

    Hi Mary,
Please check below wiki it tell same about your issue.

  • Update integration directory and repository content after PI system copy

We are on PI 7.1, We are trying to figure out the best way to update the contents in sld, integration directory and repository after system copy. currently we delete everything in sld, ID and IR then reimport all the content to get everything in-sync. Is there an easier way to do it, ex. just update the system in sld and the matching contents in IB and IR?
    Thanks,
    Jane Zhou

    Hi Jane
This completely depends on the nature of the system copy and your SLD architecture and operational requirements
Will the source system remain available or operational ?
Is the target SLD proposing to use satellite systems already defined in the source SLD ?
When doing a system copy the following should be considered
    1) If you create an import line from a previous SLD via export or sync
        - that SLD has to continue to be available for further updates or sync
    2) If you create a system copy, any target specific configuration like hostname, port, SID
may needed to be adapted in target landscape
    3) Further considerations are needed if 1 satellite will point to 2 SLDs at the same time both for operational use
Its very easy to take a back-up or full or partial import from one SLD and put it into another or indeed sync between SLDs
however the key is to ensure the target SLD content is consistent and useable in the same way as the source SLD
    Hope this helps
