SAPROUTER VPN installation
Hello Experts,
I have been requested to setup new SAProuter with VPN 7.10 in our client SAP environment.
Kindly anyone provide pre-requests documents for this installation and configuration.
Appreciate your early help on good step by step documents for saprouter with vpn installation.
Thanks,
Venkat
Hello, here is a guide line:
1. Choose a connection type and apply for your connection.
2. Provide SAP with the data it needs to set up the connection between your SAProuter system and the SAP support server using the Remote Connection Data Sheet (SAP Note 0028976).
3. Configure your network components (e.g. SAProuter).
4. Once a remote connection is established, enter the required logical connections between your R/3 systems and SAP. You will find a description of this procedure in SAP Note 31515.
Not as detailed as you requested but feel free to ask for more details.
We need to know exactly what kind of connection is to be set up.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Steve.

Hi gurus,
I connect to a customer SAP server using saprouter and all works fine. What is the purpose of using also a VPN connection? Is it a matter of security? I'm not a network expert ...
Thanks
GuidoHi,
SAProuter & VPN are two different things.
SAProuter is the tool provided by SAP to access the SAP servers securely. You can configure the it as SNC-Secure Network Connection.
[http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/EN/4f/992d65446d11d189700000e8322d00/content.htm]
A virtual private network (VPN) is a private network that makes use of a public network (such as the Internet), while maintaining security and privacy through encryption and security procedures.
VPN's give companies an alternative to leasing an expensive, dedicated private connection from one office to another. Many businesses are using VPN on their servers to allow their employees to connect to their server from home.
If you are using VPN then there is no need to use the SAprouter.
Hope this helps you to understand.
Thanks,

Web Pages and file download corruption Cisco VPN
We have a problem our users are having. Clients are having problems using Cisco 5.06 VPN along with Internet Explorer. Quite often web pages hang or load incorrectly or unformatted. Also links to documents or downloads are downloaded unusable (i.e. a PDF file that is corrupt). If you refresh the page or retry the download it will work eventually. None of these problems exist while they are directly on the corporate network. (Win7 32-bit OS)
Our standard corporate VPN installation package uses Cisco VPN 5.0.06.0160 which installs version 3.22.4.17992 of DNE (Deterministic Network Enhancer), It also installs the DNE Update version 4.9.1.1837. This combination works correctly in our standard corporate build. The problem exists in two of non-standard builds on a couple different hardware models.
If I uninstall the DNE update and the VPN client and just install the VPN client by itself without the DNE Update (which leaves the client at 3.22.4.17992 for DNE) the problem goes away and the web pages load correctly and the files download properly.
I have tried the latest DNE, and updates to the NIC driver without success. Any suggestions or logic to why the newer versions of DNE will not work. The hardware we are using are high end HP and Dell Mobile workstations that are only about a year old. We have a problem our users are having. This will cause DLM (Dynamic Line Management) to kick in and lower your speeds because it will interpret the restarts as a fault. It is normal for the speeds to fluctuate during the training period. If things do not improve after the ten day training period post back for more advice.

BM VPN causing dial-up connections to disappear - Air Card
I'm having an issue with BM VPN. I have an end user on an XP laptop who needs to connect via BM VPN using his Verizon Wireless Broadband Air Card. The Broadband Cards are always listed under Dial-Up Connections in Network Connections, but after installing BM VPN, the dial-up connections are no longer there and if I try to manually create a connection, it is greyed out. Also, to no avail, the following services in XP are not turned on and for the life of me I cannot get them to start:
Remote Accesss Auto Connection Manager
Remote Accesss Connection Manager
From what I've read, these services must be on in order to create a new dial-up connection. The Broadband card refuses to connect due to the fact that a dial-up connection cannot be created. The Broadband card and software were installed and working before BM VPN was installed. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling BM VPN, but that didn't fix the problem.
Also, if I look under the Novell Client properties, Location Profiles Tab, VPN, Properties, Properties again, and finally the VPN Dial-Up tab, there is a message that says "A VPN dial-up initialization has occurred. Microsoft Dial-Up Networking is not installed." I don't know if this means anything or is related to the problem, but I thought I'd relay this information as well. I looked for ways to reinstall the Microsoft Dial-Up Networking, but all articles refer to Windows 95 or 98 installations. I've also reinstalled Windows XP SP3 successfully, but it didn't fix the problem.
Has anyone else ever ran into a problem like this and can help me? I'm so lost and desperate for help. Thanks.I'm not sure how to recover on the system that is currently broken -
though I suspect some form of remove/reinstall MS components should get
you back running again.
When you install the VPN client, and you select the dial-up option, it
basically tries to integrate the MS dial up networking system into VPN
menus. I don't think it really invents anything new there. If there
is something non-standard on the dial-up entries, it may be that the
VPN installation doesn't handle it properly. I don't know, because
I've not installed that component or used it in years.
What I would recommend is to not install the dial-up component on with
the VPN client. Just leave it off, make a usual dial-up connection,
and then launch the VPN client. The VPN dial-up component just
tries to manage all of that so you do it with less button clicks.

What's going on with VPN?
I am having problems setting up VPN for Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit, home workstation computer, not networked.
I am also having general non-specific problems with Internet connectivity, according to network engineers.
I having a WiFi Mac and a hard-wired cable connect PC sharing the same modem at home.
The two machines are not 'networked', but standalone workstations. Relevant?
Specifically, I get script errors when I try to setup any 3rd party VPN service.
I can ignore error and VPN sets up.
But then the number of non-specific problems increase.
All of the 3rd party vendors, AND MY ISP ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT... blame Windows.
LOL! Maybe more specifically, there's something Windows and I should be doing, that we are not doing.
I noticed that my Ethernet Network has not selected Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol.
What happens if I install this "Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol"?
Is this why VPN is grumpy?
I found these two interesting links, but they don't point me in any specific direction.
( Direction? I am lost. That is why I am posting here? )
http://batcmd.com/windows/8/services/ndisimplatform/
http://www.ehow.com/list_6774290_multiplexing-protocols.html
Also, every time I click Diagnose (hiding behind Properties popup in above capture), I get errors after installing Windows. Microsoft Research did something here, and the errors are gone in this particular Windows installation, but I still can't install
VPN without errors.
Very simply, the batcmd files runs as follows:
@echo off
sc config NdisImPlatform start= demand
exit
Anecdote MNAMP is for Network Teaming and Binding. Provides a platform for network adapter load balancing and fall-over.
Query MNAMP may resolve some permissions issue that causes VPN installers to display 'SCRIPT ERROR' during install. Considered that script error displays without Windows popup error and may be related to "waiting for Windows Firewall to
respond". At same time Windows Event viewer shows Error (reasoned with ISP engineer just now, possible Windows 8.1 Pro permissions bug, with implications far beyond VPN installer hangs)
Service Control Manager
The TAP-Windows Adapter V9 service failed to start due to the following error:
The service could not be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled device associated with it.

VPN Client Won't Uninstall \ Install
I have a new WinXP SP3 machine I am building and attempting to load the 4.6.00.0049 VPN client required by my office, but it hung up and stopped during the install (I killed the install after 1 hour stuck at 27% complete) and now it is in an endless cycle where I get a message like 'a previous version was detected, click OK and then the previous version will be removed'. I do so and reboot as instructed, but every time I try to re-install I get the same message. I have removed very trace of the Cisco stuff I can find in the registry, program files, etc. but still no go. Any ideas as to how to start fresh?
Best regards,
Dennis McMahonThanks for the information Andrew. I have got it installed now successfully but with a few more twists. On your suggestion I downloaded and run CCClean.exe, fixing a lot of registry issues then tried to re-install the VPN client, but alas the same 'previous version detected \ reboot' looping still occurred. I had already did a search for anything in the registry like 'Cisco' and 'Deterministic Network Enhancer' and removed them.
What I did next was to find the CVPNDRA.sys and CVirtA.sys drivers in the C:\Windows\System\Drivers folder that I had run across references to in the registry, then deleted those for the first time. I next went to the services and stopped the Cisco VPN installer service that was running and to the registry and deleted the installer service from the ControlSets so it wouldn't start up again on reboot. After reboot, went back to registry to make sure things were gone, but somehow the HKLM\Software\Cisco Systems node was back so I deleted it. Next step to cross fingers and try re-installing the client - and Voila it worked! I did disconnect from any network and disable all firewalls and virus services first, which allowed it to get past hanging on the install of the deterministic network enhancer which started this mess.
I hope at some point this helps someone else.
Cheers,

SAPROUTTAB Permissions Table location
I am a third part software developer without a local SAP installation and has to connect to the SAP test database facility. The scenario is SAPROUTER -> VPN -> SAPROUTER -> SAP.
We are in the very early stages and have just setup our VPN, got connection details from SAP etc. I am now attempting to setup the SAPROUTER on our side. However, each time we try and start SAPROUTER in a command window to see if settings are ok we get the following message:
"saprouttab table not found!".
Firstly, what filetype should be given to the SAPROUTTAB, is it a normal .TXT file?
Secondly, I created a C:\usr\sap\saprouter folder and the SAPROUTRTAB file resides in this folder.
I know this may sound absolutely stupid but I am stuck!There is no exact rule how to find a structure filled in.
I located the place from where this value is coming for FBL3N,the internal table it_pos defined in RFITEM_DEF.
If you can trace how this internal table filled you can identity how ebeln is populated.
Put a break point in program RFITEMGL following FM and check the value of internal table it_pos.
call function 'FI_ITEMS_DISPLAY'
exporting
caller_repid = c_repid_gl
acctype = c_koart_gl
x_opvw = x_gl_opvw
x_change = x_change
i_u_save = gd_alvsave
is_u_variant = gs_variant
it_u_fieldcat = gt_fieldcat[]
it_kontab = it_accts[]
it_slbtab = it_comps[]
it_t001 = it_h_t001[]
it_skat = it_h_skat[]
it_skb1 = it_h_skb1[]
x_grid = x_grid
x_inet = pa_inet
tables
it_items = it_pos.
About locating values how it filled,
Several ways exist to do this.
(1) F1 & F9 gives the field name then search where used list in se11.
(2) Using SQL trace u can i identify how a structure filled in but its a complex process.
Hope this helps,
Thanks,

JPS-01520 Error while running on Jdev 11.1.1.4
Hello,
I recently installed JDeveloper 11.1.1.4 (PS3) to start looking around in it.
To get a better understanding of WebCenter and the new Portal set up off applications I followed an tutorial that I found on the homepage:
Tutorial for Oracle WebCenter Developers : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17904_01/webcenter.1111/e10273/toc.htm
However, when I run either the default application (Generated by JDeveloper) or the sample application (that comes with the tutorial), I get the following error when I try to login:

Diid anyone else experience this error and was able to fix it?
Or can anyone help me to fix this error?
I already tried cleaning my JDeveloper Home dir (I deleted the whole system11.1.1.4.37.59.23 dir).
If I try to login to the console with the weblogic user I can login and I can browse through the console.
Any help would be appreciated!

Permissions bug, according to ISP engineer.
@echo off
sc config NdisImPlatform start= demand

2014 WEB DESIGN... HTML5/CSS3... DOM not developmentHi,
I think Microsoft Network Adapter Multiplexor Protocol is nothing to do with your issue. It was not installed by default. If it is not designated as “necessary” in vendor user Guide. I don’t think it will affect VPN connection.
Regarding to third party software/service problem, it is actually out of our support scope and our help might be limited.
We suggest you contact your program vendor to check if they have guidance for this.
The normal way to fix this would be to run services.msc, or to go into Administrative Tools and run "Services". You will not be able to do that if the "Application Information" service is disabled. Instead, reboot your computer into Safe
Mode with Networking. Then run services.msc and look for services that are designated as "Disabled" in the Startup Type column. Change these "Disabled" services to "Automatic". Make sure the "Application Information"
service is set to a Startup Type of "Automatic". When you are done enabling your services, click Ok at the bottom of the tool and reboot your computer back into normal mode.
If you are facing Access Denied Error when using SC command.
You may first try to enable the default administrator on your computer and later try to run the command in elevated command prompt and verify if you are able to run the command successfully.
To enable the default Administrator account, perform the steps below:
1. Click Start and type CMD in the Start search box
2. Right click on CMD in the list and click on "Run as administrator"
3. Type the following command: net user administrator /active:yes
Restart the computer and you should see an "Administrator" account.
Access Administrator account and follow the steps 1 and 2 and try to run the command.
If you need to do that for certain purpose such as running VPN when startup computer. You could provide us more details so we might find some workaround for you.
Thanks for your understanding.

D. Wu

Anyconnect is not able to run with windows routing & remote access service
I am unable to connect with the new Anyconnect VPN installation when it tries to connect, it raises an alert that says, "The Windows Routing and Remote Access service is not compatible with the VPN client. The VPN client cannot operate when this service is running."
I have a Dell system laptop, OS is XP SP2 with all the latest Windows updates up to SP2. My internet connection is DSL modem. Internet hardware is an
external adapter connected to my USB port. The adapter is controlled by the Routing and Remote Access service mentioned in the alert message.
Can anyone help me how we can solve this issue. I appreciate the help and currently some of the users can not connect to my network who works from home.
Thanks
ChandruI believe that Chandru's concern is in his statement that his DSL modem is controlled by the RAS service.
I agree with Andrew that Chandru probably does not need the RAS enabled. I have used several Dell laptop running XP and connected to DSL just fine without needing RAS. If there is some aspect of how the laptop is configured that results in needing RAS for the modem then perhaps Chandru can clarify this for us.

Best Practice - Leopard Server and a Windows Server/Application
Our family owns an accounting practice in Northern California. We all use MacBook Pros running Leopard as our client machines.
Our customers all use QuickBooks for Windows for their accounting software. We currently host and store our customer's QuickBooks company files on a Windows 2003 SBS Server. Our staff connects to the Windows Server to launch QuickBooks and perform our accounting services. We do not use any of the features of the Windows Server besides the ability to log in with multiple user sessions to launch QuickBooks from both internal and remote office locations.
Since we all use MacBook Pros, we'd like to use Leopard Server and implement mail, calendaring, wikis, etc. My dilemma is figuring out if this is technically possible because we need to continue to log into a Windows PC, Server, etc with multiple staff's sessions to perform our accounting services with QuickBooks for Windows.
Can someone suggest a way we can do this? I'm not very technical since I am an accountant! We're hoping this can be done somehow!
Thanks for any suggestion and assistance!
JohnWe also have Quickbooks as our legacy Windows app.
Quickbooks files for several companies are stored on our Mac OS X Server, which is accessed by a Windows 2003 Server.
I considered using Parallels or VMware, but the administrative overhead seam excessive. (One installation of Windows is too many). Windows Terminal Services seamed the best fit. Additional client access licenses were required from Microsoft as Windows Server only comes with two administrative RDP licenses.
Our staff and staff from accounting and tax consulting firms connect to Quickbooks on the Windows server via RDP. Internally, we have a couple of diskless thin clients, and iMacs with RDP software installed. Externally, both Windows and Mac OS X clients connect to our 10.5 server IPSec VPN, and then to the Windows server, again via RDP.
Performance is acceptable, as here in Australia we now have ADSL service with 1-2Mbps upstream. On my 23" display (Mac OS X 10.5), situated 1200miles away, a RDP connection at 1280x1024 works seamlessly.
On the Mac Server side, we have recently upgraded to Leopard Server, and thus haven't implmented all the fabulous new features such as calendar sharing and wikis, but we are using network spotlight, and of course the Mail server. Additionally, we have a Fujitsu SnapScan which scans documents that are then automatically OCR'd, and made available by network spotlight. All very cool.
Further work to be undertaken;
- Have the Windows server logins authenticate with our Mac OS X Open Directory. Currently account credentials are duplicated.
- Implement public key cryptography for the VPN, so that we can revoke individual client VPN installations
- Implement two factor authentication (probably CryptoCard)
- Batten down the permissions on the Windows server. The default Quickbooks installation required an unacceptable level of user rights. -
Hello,
I have a client that has been experiencing abends on their NetWare 6.5sp6 server that is running BM3.8sp4 since we implemented client-to-sitre vpn capability with NMAS authentication. Since the abends began we have applied TCP681K.ZIP with no real cahnge in the status. Below is a copy of the most recent abend log. Any help would be much appreciated as it appears to be a TCP versioning issue, but I cannot seem to find the right combination of TCP nlm's.
Thank you,
Aaron DiBari

And the IR1 patch after BM38SP5 is important. (Last BM 3.8 patch).
Also, try the proxy.cfg from my web site tip #63 (URL below) while you
are patching. Won't affect VPN, but you might as well get proxy working
well while you are at it.
BM38SP5 has a number of VPN-related bug fixes.
But I'm not seeing the link between your C2S VPN installation and abends
in proxy.

OK, at this point bm38sp5, ir1, nwlib6j.exe, and wsock6o.exe have been installed, and the abends continue. I am attaching an potion of the latest abend log file. Any ideas why this server is abending like this? The load is realtively low on this server. Thank you in advance for any and all help with this issue.

We have two saprouters - one local, another in DMZ:
SolMan->Local saprouter>DMZ saprouter-VPN--> SAP saprouter
As VAR partner the input in systems of the customer is necessary for us (via SolMan and action "Customer Connection via SAP Service Backbone"). But for our SolMan in parametres OLSAPROUTER and OLSAPROUTERPORT it is possible to specify only one saprouter.
There is a problem decision?
Many thanks

New SAProuter with VPN to setup
Hello Gurus,
I have been requested to setup new SAProuter 7.00 in our SAP environment through VPN to be created.
Existing environment is as below :
SAP systems : R/3 4.6C
SAProuter release : v34
SAProuter host configuration : Windows 2003 (US) Entreprise Edition
SAProuter runs through router ISDN line 128KBits connected to our LAN...
As I already checked 'SAProuter 7.00 - Documentation' from http://service.sap.com/patches, I would like to know the 'step-by-step' procedure to proceed :
1. Can I setup new SAProuter even if we currently use existing SAProuter?
2. If NO, what is the procedure for testing my new SAProuter when installed?
3. Plus, can I 'upgrade' existing SAPRouter release to 7.00 then 'only' modify the network configuration? (note that I am checking documentation 'Remote Connectivity for mySAP.com Solutions over the Internet' from march 2001 to find solution : where finding newest release of this documentation?)
Thanks in advance for your insight!
Rgds,
zulainHello Hari,
As mentionned previously, we started a survey to change our SAProuter acrhitecture to SAProuter 7.0 version.
As we overviewed all prerequisites, I do require confirmation on the 2 following points :
1. As saprouter program will be installed on host which already exists
and is located in DMZ, the existing Windows operating system version is
W2003 Server Standard Edition in french version.
Thus, we would like SAP support to confirm that SAProuter program can
be installed and will run correctly on Windows 2003 Standard Edition in
french version as SAP note 690432 'Windows 2003 Support' mentions that
SAP supports such an hardware configuration if Windows Multilanguage
User Interface (MUI) kit is installed and that W2003 Standard Edition
is supported for 'test or small systems only' (only saprouter program
will run on this host)
2. One of the requirements of saprouter installation is to provide
public @IP to SAP.
As we get such an IP adress, we require SAP support to confirm that
this IP adress will work properly as below :
Saprouter will be installed on host which is located in DMZ (SAP
requirement) what does mean 'between our 2 firewalls'
Thus, connection from sap will be translated by first firewall which
will redirect to public adress provided
Question : Must the host on which saprouter will run have one and only
one IP adress?
As mentionned previously, host already exists and has already an IP
adress : then, public @IP provided will have to be translated by
firewall. Will such a configuration work fine?
Thanks in advance for your support.
Rgds,
Zulain
