Satellite A200 won't run CD's

I've been using an A200 since 2007. It perfectly runs all types of DVD's but recognizes all types of CD's as blank.
I'm unable to write CD's as well.
The writing process completes smoothly and the CD is then ejected. But when i insert the CD into a any other computer it's blank.

> The writing process completes smoothly and the CD is then ejected. But when i insert the CD into a any other computer it's blank.
As I understand your issue, the Satellite A200 recognizes all disk properly and can burn the CD as well but the OTHER computer recognize the CD as blank.
Is it right?
Well, I would recommend using another brand of CD disks!
Try and test different CDs from different manufacturers.

  • Satellite A200 won't use external battery

    Hi to all.
I have Satellite A200-PSAE6E, and I bought universal external battery. But external battery can't produce enough current for my laptop when internal battery is not full. When internal battery is full, external keeps it full and run laptop, but when internal battery isn't full and I plug in external battery, in a few seconds laptop shows that it is plugged in, and battery is charging, but after that few seconds, it shows only that laptop is plugged in, and battery doesn't charging.
Problem is that when laptop is plugged in and battery doesn't charging it use internal battery (like when it isn't plugged in), and when it empty internal battery it turn off, and there still shows that it is plugged in. Can I set that when laptop is plugged in, but doesn't charging it will use external power?
I am sure that is only software solution.

    >This is universal external laptop battery. This battery produce 19V, and I don't see why Toshiba must recommend using this external battery?
Of course this is important because there is no guarantee that not supported and not recommended 3rd party options would be compatible with your notebook.
    >I just need information if I can set that when laptop is plugged in but not charging, then laptop will use external power for its work, not for both (work and charging).
As far as I know this cannot be set. If the AC adaptor is connected to the notebook then the battery will charge automatically

  • Satellite C650 won't run while charging

I recently had to replace my charger, I purchased exact same one from a reputable store, however even though it charges, my laptop won't run unless it is at 100%. I then bought a new battery & another new charger but the problem is still there. So basically I can only use my laptop with battery only or wait till it's a 100% charged?
    Can anyone please help?

    >It starts with battery removed but it won't load any pages
What does this mean exactly? What pages did you mean?
If you power up the unit, can you see the Toshiba splash screen at the beginning and does Windows boot properly?
Did you notice this issue BEFORE you have replaced the AC adaptor?
Why did you replace the AC adaptor?
From my point of view this issue has nothing to do with AC adaptor or battery
It could be an motherboard related issue

  • Satellite A200 won't shut down when power supply is connected

The Satellite A200 just shuts down, if the power cable is disconnected before shutting down. Otherwise the notebook shuts down and restarts immediately (max 5 seconds between shut down and restart).
Does anybody got the same strange problem?

    Hi Thomas
You should definitely contact the ASP in your country. Maybe its something wrong with the power supply electronic on the notebooks motherboard.
As John said the replacement should be done for free because the A200 is a new series and the warranty should be valid.
    Good luck

  • Satellite A200 won't boot from recovery disk

I need to reinstall the notebook but every time I boot from CD it won't.
I tried every boot disk ( xp pro, xp home, Toshiba recovery disk ) at house but none of it works.
The recovery disk boots (windows is loading) but after loading my laptop restarts.

    > Try to run Recocery CD under Windows and then choose reinstall option from cd menu
Something like that is not possible using the Toshiba Recovery disk
    > tried every boot disk ( xp pro, xp home, Toshiba recovery disk ) at house but none of it works.
In my opinion your CD/DVD drive can not read the inserted medias and therefore its not possible to restore the operating system.
I think the CD/DVD drive should be checked by an notebook technician and if necessary it should be replaced.

  • Satellite A200 - Won't boot up with connected main power

my lapop is 2 years old. Whist trying to boot up it restarts at least 2 times and I am running Windows 7.
My old battery only lasts about 20 mins so i bought a new one and the first time I charged it up it gave me an hours worth of battery time but on the second recharge it has only provided 20 mins.
It still doesnt boot up whilst the power is connected do you think my motherboard is malfunctioning=

    Hi
The warranty is also depending on the country where you purchased the notebook and if you have a warranty extension or not. So its not easy to say if your notebook is still under warranty or not.
But let me give you a word of advice: You should give an ASP a call! The technicians can check the warranty for your notebook and tell you how much the repair would be cost.
On the Toshiba website you can find a list of authorized service providers.

  • Re: Satellite A200 unable to connect phone - No Bluetooth

Some years back I bought a Satellite A200 (PSAF6A-OWOOIN) running Vista, which my daughter has since upgraded to windows 7.
Previously the notebook had Bluetooth connectivity to my mobile phone (not that I ever used it),
however (now that I do need it) I can no longer connect, or even find any bluetooth software.
I have searched for a suitable download, but the only one I could find, would not run/start due to an incompatibility ????
I real need to be able to connect my phone to my computer, as we have video that we wish to forward to the police on disk.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
First of all it would be really interesting to know if BT is enabled on this notebook.
Can you see a small BT icon in the taskbar?
What happens if you would use the key combination FN + F8?
This key combination toggles between the Wlan and BT and enables/disables the connectivity.
In case you cannot enable the BT or the icon does not appear in the taskbar, visit this Toshiba BT portal https://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/bluetooth/ and download and install the latest Toshiba BT stack for the Win 7

  • Slow start - Satellite A200-1KZ PSAE3

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A200-1KZ PSAE3 running Windows Vista Home Premium.
I have a clean install, so I have no third-apps running in my energy system.
    I have the SKAA140a.rom (v 1.40).
    I have installed the Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family (GM965) v1.5.6
I have installed the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver vVista_R172a.zip
The system take more than 2 minutes to start, any ideas?
    Any idea why?
    Thanks in advance!

I want to add that the start process is like this:
BIOS screen (where the Intel logo appears)
    Progress bar, pass 7,5 times.
Windows Vista Logo, the whole song
"Starting", is less than a second
Then my desktop, where the "Live Messenger" appears first
Then Power, Network and Sound control
But, the Network appears as "Not connected" (red cross) until the NOD32 is on.
I've tried uninstalling the NOD32 and is the same thing.
NOD32 doesn't seems to be the problem.
Could be something about the network card?
My computer uses a Realtek card with the standard Windows Vista drivers. The name of the card is "NIC de Fast Ethernet PCI-E de la familia Realtek RTL8101 (NDIS 6.0)".
Oh, I can add that if for example I install something that need a restart and have to do something before the Desktop appears and takes 20 seconds for example, the system start just right away. No delay.
    Ideas?
    TIA!

  • Satellite A200 28H : F6 floppy won't work while installing XP

    Hi,
I'm trying to install Windows XP pro on my new laptop (Satellite A200 28H), and since it needs SATA driver, I have downloaded the appropriate driver for my laptop (Satellite A200 28H), put them on a floppy to use with a USB floppy drive (which works fine), pressed "F6" when appropriate and all... But it just won't work. I have had a computer technician background for a few years, so even thouh this is no longer my job and I might be a bit rusty, I think I still know at least a bit what I'm doing... Well, apparently I'm more out of picture than I thought !
I have tried several things, and here is what I get :
    * If I do not use the floppy at all, Windows XP will not find the hard disk. That was expected, no problem here, save for the fact it is utterly useless to me :)
    * If I force the driver on the floppy, despite Windows telling me it already has a driver it can use, then within 10 seconds I get a BSOD with the 0x7B stop message (boot device not found or unreachable).
    * If I use the floppy, but do not force the driver and instead listen to Windows ("oh, you already have a driver ? Ok, then, use it and nevermind that floppy"), I can actually finish the installation process. Windows will copy all the files it needs on the drive, it will even reboot properly after that and go on installing itself. But when the installation is over, the computer will reboot, I will see the loading screen for a second, and then, BSOD stop 0x7B again.
I'm pretty sure I have downloaded the proper driver for my computer. Actually, I also tried a couple of wrong drivers too, just to be sure (ie I should use Intel Matrix for ICH8M, but I also tried the one for ICH7M to be sure), I tried with drivers downloaded from the Toshiba website, from the Intel website, and from whatnot-other-website-for-newbies-or-powerusers, and I always have the same behaviour as described above.
I have tried partitioning / formating during the installation, and I also have tried leaving the file system untouched. If I do the latter, the only difference is that I am offered 2 possible OS to boot from, both being Windows XP, and both failing miserably.
It's probably interesting to mention that, if I use the recovery DVD and start fresh and clean with Vista, I have no problem whatsoever, save for the gazillion process loaded at startup, the already half-used RAM and the hundred or so useless applications I don't give a darn about... And the fact that some applications I need to work just can't be installed on Vista.
If anyone has any idea about how to fix it, I'd be most grateful !

    Hi
The procedure including the SATA drivers into the Win XP using the external USB floppy drive is very easy.
First of all you have to download the Storage Manger and have to put it on the floppy.
During the Win XP Setup procedure you have to press F6 button to include it from the external floppy drive and follow the further instruction on the screen.
    _Note;_
Very important is that your Win XP CD would contains the SP2!!!
Without the SP2 a BSOD could appears and could break up the installation!!!
Dont format or dont create any partitions after the SATA driver installation. This can erase the installed and included SATA driver from the HDD.
Last but not least some external FDD drives are not supported. I read that some users had some problems with an external FDD drives they tested another drive and it worked finally
Check the recommended points maybe it could be useful
    Bye

  • Satellite A200-19I is pretty loud - cooler is running permanently

    Hi,
I have since a week a Toshiba Notebook, the Satellite A200-19i. The Notebook is very loud in my opinion. One cooler is running permanently and the other one running sometimes. Or is this noisy thing not a cooler?
Please help me and sorry for my bad english. I am from Germany.
    Thanks,
    Arne

    Hello Arne
In the world of mobile computing it is not easy to design absolutely quite notebook especially if the hardware components are faster and more powerful. Heat is common problem by mobile computing and most important thing is hardware protection. I know that notebooks are sometimes very loud, especially if the cooling fan is dirty.
I have the same notebook series. It is Satellite A200-1CR. I use it for every day work and till now I am pretty satisfied. Vista runs well and using usual applications like Word, Excel, IE, Skype and WinDVD I didnt noticed loud running cooling fan. Maybe I should check it with CPU intensive applications.
Dear Arne I do not know how much experiences you have with notebooks but in my opinion you are too sensitive. You can check some other notebook models from different manufacturers but I am really skeptic you will find noiseless notebook.
    Bye and good luck!

  • Satellite A200 - eblib.dll is not designed to run on windows

My Satellite A200 laptop started giving me warnings saying *eblib.*dll is not designed to run on windows or contains an error.
The file was deleted with combofix from c:\programdata\xp.
    Do I need this file?
I checked with antivirus both McAfee and Alvira plus several spyware programs and the laptop appears to be clean.
I had the same problem with odbc32.dll. Replaced it with a copy from another vista laptop with success.
    Is this file needed?
The only info I found says it is from Compal Electronics but doesn't say what it does or what component uses it.
Would someone send me a clean copy of this file, PLEASE!
    Help
    Thank-you

Do NOT use CCleaner! I work in an ASP and the number of machines that have had to be rebuilt because of this (plus it opens the backdoor to ther nasties).
odbc32.dll is needed, don't get rid of it and as for eblib.dll, it doesn't appear to be harmful, and could be left over from an install process. If your AV isn't reporting it as a threat, then just leave it. If you want to get rid of it, rename it first, reboot and make sure that everything works, then delete it. If something stops working, rename it back, reboot and all is well.
Don't just delete a file or use a freeware cleaner, they wreck registries and systems.

  • Shaking image on external monitor when Satellite A200 is running on AC

    Hello
I have this problem which is driving me crazy .... I bought an external monitor for my Toshiba Satellite A200-1s9 laptop but the problem with it is that the image, on the external monitor, is shaking. I tried another monitor, the same, another cable, same problem; the only way how to stop it is to unplug the AC from the laptop.
I also tried to move the monitor further from the laptop but nothing.
I can making stop shaking so hard only if I switch to the AC profile from FULL POWER to Save power ... but even with this the image is still shaking a bit.
So basically there is a magnetic field around there, probably in the laptop, which is making my image shaking like crazy ... does anybody know how to stop it?
    tx

    Hi,
    hmmm...
I don't think that this has to do something with magnetic fields.
Cause it is related to the power consumption of the computer, it seems that there is a problem with the AC-Adaptor.
If it has to deliver much 'juice', it's condensators to keep the voltage absolutely stable are perhaps too weak.
Such instabilities ( which have the 50 Hz frequency of the power supply ) can disturb the signal to the monitor.
A solution for that ? ..if you know how to solder some fat condensators somehow in between...
    Or:
    It's a grounding problem
I never heard from such problems with LCD-Monitors (VGA out??). Mostly this is the case when you you use analog video out,
leading to no color on the TV.
Do you have an annoying buzzing when you connect audio out to an amplifier ? That would be a sign for that.
I had such a problem and solved it by plugging my laptop on AC on another circuit in the house than my audio devices
    So experiment with that.
First: disconnect all other stuff ( printer, sticks, antennas, everything ) These are nasty problems with lots of possible interferences.
    Let me know!

  • Does Satellite A200-1GB(PSAE6E) supports 4GB of RAM

I have a toshiba Satellite A200-1GB and I want to put 4GB of RAM on it.
It came with 2GB of pc2-5300 RAM.
Does it supports pc2-6400 RAM modules?
    Regards

I called Toshiba about this after I bought a Satellite A205 with 2GB factory installed. The salesman where I bought it told me that if I boosted the RAM to 4GB it would run Photoshop even with Vista. yeah right. Vista soaks almost up a full GB just sunning its self. I literally bought this unit on the way to the airport leaving for China with the extra 2x2GB chips in a bag. Needless to say after I installed the 4GB it won't start.
The Toshiba guys tell me that it is limited not by the OS but by the Motherboard.
Has anyone tried changing the BIOS chip?
When I asked why they would put such a limitation on the box they thought I was strange to want 4GB of RAM. Telling me that it isn't really considered the way to go for PSing. I guess they have never heard of Gamming. Or maybe they think someone would want to go bouncing around the 3rd world with a $3000 box to be lost.

  • Satellite A200 - need help with USB boot

    Hi to all,
I have a startup problem with my Satellite A200.
I am booting from my USB key. It is bootable Linux to install the tutorial is this:
Insert the USB key or drive you want to boot from.
    Restart the computer.
During startup, when prompted, press the appropriate button to display the "Boot Options". Usually it is F2, F8 or F12 (be displayed on the splash screen).
In the boot menu, select the drive to boot from.
The computer will now boot from the USB key or the first disc to change the boot priority back to boot from the hard drive. Perform the procedure again, but to choose the hard drive in step 4 the computer will now boot from the first hard disk.
My problem just part shift to the right that when it restarts with the USB key plugged remain frozen and Toshiba screen is displayed but it does not load anything.
F2 I want to access the BIOS it makes me please wait but nothing happen. I'm nothing like 1hr wait for F12 boot selections except that all boot are marked exceptions to the FDD one on which I want to boot.
So I find myself facing an impasse because for Toshiba loads must be connected to nothing which is silly because I want to boot on my key.
    If someone has a solution...

    Here is my menu (f12):

I even tried to run as my key with each entry in cases where but after a few seconds it gives me windows vista: (

  • Memory expansion for Satellite A200-23W

Wonder if i can upgrade the memory (now 2 x 2GB in 667) with two others in 800 mhz..

    Hello
You can upgrade the RAM with 800 MHz modules but as far as I know this will not improve the speed and the RAM will only run at 667 MHz.
The reason for this is that the chipset doesnt support 800 MHz.
The Satellite A200-23W supports up to 4GB so any upgrades are not necessary.
