Satellite R20 DVD-Recorder problem (firmware needed)

Hi,
in my Toshiba Satellite R20 (tablet) DVD Recorder (Pioneer) was accidentally flashed with the incorrect firmware by the previous user (I work in the company and this Tablet came to me aleady as used one).
Now when powering on, CD-ROM ERROR appears for a while, then Window boots normally from HDD. In Windows, I can't see the optical drive - first I have to suspend system, and then, after wake up, the DVD Drive is recognised and installed but works only in PIO mode. I have seen that the model number displayed is incorrect (DVR-K16 and should be DVR-K16TBR as it is desrcibed on the drive).
Is there any possibility to obtain the original firmware and to reflash the drive by myself?
regards,
T. Trojan

Hi,
You cant reflash the drive by yourself, this can only an ASP (authorized service provider) but Im not sure, if this possible.
The best way is you contact an ASP and ask them. Here you can search for one:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Find an ASP
In the worst case the drive must be replaced.
Tell me what happened, Im interested in.
Bye

  • DVD recording problem...

Just bought a new DVD recorder for my G4/466: Pioneer DVD-111D.
I try to make DVD copies and at the end of the copy it says:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key= Illegal Request
    Sense Code= 0x24
    INVALID FIELD IN CDB
And when I press enter it says again:
    The drive reported an error:
    Sense Key= Illegal Request
    Sense Code= 0x72, 0x03
Session Fixation Error - incomplete track in session
    WHY???????
I recorded DVD and DVD Double layer and both give the error.
After thi errors, the DVDs don't work.
    Thanks for any help.
    Bye!

I noticed that you appear to be using OS 9.2.2 for your DVD burning. Even with the "hacked" Authoring Support file for Pioneer drives, you can only read DVDs in OS 9.2.2. You can't burn DVDs in OS 9.2.2 because Apple didn't have DVD burning supported under OS 9.2.2, only CD burning and DVD playing.

  • Toshiba DVR620KU VHS/DVD Recorder broken and needs repaired

I have a fairly new Toshiba DVR620Ku VCR/DVD Recorder that was working fine until I ejected a VHS tape.  The tape hung on some white plastic roller and when I tried to extract it the white plastic roller broke off.  Now the VCR will not work.  Any ideas on how I can get it repaired?  I also have another one which is the same exact model which started having trouble with the VCR when ejecting VHS tapes.  Nothing else wrong with it.  These are great machines when they are working.  The easiest to set up and use.  I hate to toss them into the trash if they can be repaired with a minimal of cost.

  • Dvd recording problems!!!!!!

Two problems are really bugging me guys. I made a 15 minute video project through imovie imported it to idvd and it recorded the whole project except for the sound. I just bought a Lacie external burner dvd + & - rw. And it ejects my dvd and says the disc cant be used for burning. Insert recordable dvd media. I am using tdk dvd -rw dvd's. What can I do to get the sound. #2 problem : everytime I make an idvd project using the drop zones when I go to pull the project back up my drop zone clips are always missing. Why?
    Thanks guys

    dvd -rw
#1 RW disks are problematic. Try using "Save as Disk Image" in iDVD, and play that image with the Apple DVD Player. If the image works, then burn it with Disk Utility.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=164927
Also check to make sure the sound track(s) is(are) "checked" in iMovie (far right in the timeline).
my drop zone clips are always missing
iDVD only makes "links" to movies/clips when they are used, it does not import them (unless you archive the project). Are the clips/movies from other external drives? Where were they when you added them in the first place?

  • Satellite M300 - DVD Drive Problem

    Hi
I have a Satellite M300 and when I insert a DVD movie to watch the DVD drive spins and hums but the disk is not read. The drive stays like this and when I try to eject the disk there is no response at all form the computer.
When I try to eject through windows media player it says the drive is busy, but still nothing happens.
The drive continues to spin and hum loudly without reading the disk and the only way to stop the disk spinning and to eject the DVD is to restart the computer and eject during load up before the computer tries to read the disk again.
I am only a novice at notebooks so any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Also the computer was purchased in Australia and I am currently living in Germany
    Please reply in English
    Thanks Daniel

its is a strange problem, it will do it with more so original DVD's, but does happen on occasion with burnt or created disks
with original disks it might happen a few times then on an off chance the disk will be read and works fine, but more so it is not read

  • IMOVIE DVD RECORDING PROBLEM

I use Toast 8 to burn DVDs on my Intel iMAC 24" after editing and saving movies in iMovie HD 6.
When I drag the final edit version of an iMovie project to Toast's video pane for recording, a number of earlier saved versions of the same project also load - which I thought had been automatically 'trashed' by Mac/iMovie once a new edit had been saved? (and I cannot find these versions anywhere on the Mac, they only 'extract' and appear in the Toast pane).
So, I then have to identify the latest one listed in the Toast pane (by date and time), out of maybe four or five, and clear the rest before starting record.
How can I load only the final edit version without earlier versions irritatingly appearing in the pane (as if by magic from nowhere)?
Is this a Mac/iMovie or a Toast problem, or have I just missed out somewhere?

Thanks, but iMovie Help doesn't appear to give this advice (?), in fact it says iMovie projects can be exported direct to iDVD (?). I am using Toast, not iDVD, but why is there a difference here?
Also, as said, occasionally some footage does 'strange' things when converted to QT.
Example: Footage transferred from a visually pulsating image (originated on a 1920s 30 line mechanical TV scanner invented by J L Baird) has an acceptable rippling effect seen in iMovie. When converted to a QT (full quality) file the rippling becomes a rapid strobing flicker, ie something is changed in conversion. DVDs made from each - one from iMovie and from QT conversion - produce the same effects.
Any info on what happens in conversion to QT causing such a problem?

  • Satellite U205 - DVD drive problems

I purchased a Satellite U205-S5057 last year with Vista on it. For the first month, every video file burned just fine. After that, I've downloaded all sorts of codecs and trial versions of DVD burning software just to have it keep burning DVDs.
After all the downloads, naturally, they started to conflict. I ran a system recovery and hoped it would clean out all the conflicts. I put some videos on a CD-rw and transferred them to my notebook to burn. When I clicked on the D:/ it said "D:/ no application". Then I re-installed Realplayer from the internet and now it burns in Realplayer 1 out of every 10 or so tries.
Does anyone know why I have so many problems with my CD/DVD drive? Also, it always says D:/ is a DVD drive even when I put in a CD. Is this right?

    Hi
Did you try to remove the upper and lower filters from the registry entry?
    Not? Ok try this:
First of all remove the CD/DVD drive from the device manager.
Then remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters values completely from the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Finally reboot the machine and restart the system.
The Windows OS should recognize the drive and should reinstall it again.

  • Satellite A60 DVD drive problems

    Hi,
I have a Satellite A60 ( 18mths old now ) - When i 1st got it the DVD writer was D.O.A - so i sent it off and had it replaced.
It has worked fine since then until recently when the DVD drive just wouldnt recognize anything - CD's or DVD's
Tried everything with that unit - but at the end of the day figured the drive had gone.
Purchased another one ( SD-R6252 ) and lo-and-behold the same thing is happening.
Every diagnostic I run says the drive is OK - but there is no disc in it.
I have reinstalled windows from the factory recovery discs -
    Updated the BIOS
Tried to update the drive firmware - but the update said it wasnt necessary.
Tried it with Nero, Windows, InterVideo - Nothing.
As it is now a work machine I cannot afford the 3 months turn around time to send it off and have it looked at ( thats how long it took last time ) and my nearest Toshiba dealer is up at the other end of the country.
Any suggestions for things i can try would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi
If you check other forums you will find a lot of postings with the same content. According to many users you should try with latest firmware update. You can find it HERE

  • Need Help with DVD recorder (HDMI) to record off DVR

I purchased a philips dvd recorder a few years ago and need  help in setting up to record my DVR program recordings. The philips user manual is not very helpful being I'm trying to set-up with just using HDMI cables.  I have a HDTV (Vizio) with a HDMI port; a DVD recorder with HDMI port and my Verizon set-top box have a HDMI port.  How do i get it all to work and be able to record/copy programs from DVR to my DVD recorder?   Do anyone have suggestions on how to set up wiring.  Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

First keep in mind that DVD is not an HD format, so you will not be able to record HD shows in HD; they will be in letterboxed 4:3.
The FiOS STB only has one HDMI (out) port. Therefore, you will need to use some other output from the STB to the DVD recorder. Component, or even composite/RCA, because it's not going to record in HD anyway to DVD, will work just fine. Then you want to set your DVD player to whatever input you used to connect from the STB; i.e. mine uses "Input 1" for my composite connection.
If you turn on your STB and DVD, this will record whatever the STB is outputting to a DVD if you press record on the DVD recorder. This includes all of the program menus and any other on-screen graphics on the STB, and this means you cannot change the channel if you are recording from your STB. You can shut your TV off, but you will not be able to watch another show while recording one to DVD.
Your DVD player might give you an HDCP message at first when the recording starts if it's getting an HD input, but that should go away after a few seconds, at least for my Panasonic DVD recorder with a composite connection.

  • Audigy 2 value. Creative smart recorder has encountered a problem and needs to clo

At last I installed the audigy 2v software but I get this error when I try to open creative smart recorder."Creative smart recorder has encountered a problem and needs to close." My mic functions but my speakers don't. So I have switched to my on board card now. I am using Windows Xp, service pack 2. Everything functioned perfectly until I got the last updates using autoupdate. Any suggestions?

Thanks PeeBee! For some reason WMP burned those songs as write-protected (although at some point in the past I had turned it off). I reburned those songs and they uploaded just fine. Now if only I can figure out this video thing. Thnaks again. - Chris

  • I have a video in .avi format, what format do I need to convert to, to play on my DVD recorder, please can anyone help?

I have a video in .avi format, but what format do I need to convert to, to play on my DVD recorder, please can anyone help?

tylerfrombalantine's post had zero grammar in it, so it's not clear what he's saying. I bought a DVD recorder and the instruction manual lists all the disc formats it can play. Check your DVD recorder manual to see what works with it, then burn a DVD that matches. It should be fine to burn just a standard DVD, since of course any DVD player can play that.
Depending on the program you use, you may not have to convert anything manually. The program might convert your current video format to DVD on fly as it burns the disc.

  • I need help with the Pinnacle Dazzle DVD recording software. Please help :D

I have recently bought a Platinum Pinnacle Dazzle DVD Recorder, this device allows me to record gameplay from my PS3 and put it onto my iMac (Capture Card) I nought the Windows version of the software and I need the iMac compatible one but I don't want to go into the shop and spend another £50 on it when I already have the Hardware. Does anyone use Dazzle too? To record their gameplay.
All I need is a Dazzle DVC100 Driver to help run the hardware. I have it connected and it all works, just need to view it on my iMac now. Any advice?
If all else fails, i'll just have to go and buy an iMac compatible one.
Also, what software would you recommend for editing, I intend on making a Montage (A video clip of my best gameplay on Modern Warfare 2 with some nice editing)
P.S. I'm only new to this, but I am 16, and I have an A in my GCSE ICT, so I know a good bit about computers.

Of course iMovie is basic, it is aimed at the home and casual user who wants to put holidays and the kid's birthday party on to a DVD and send it to Grandma. It certainly comes with more transition effects than I would ever use.
    Why?
Go watch a major, big budget film. Do you see a transition everytime the scene changes?
No. It is 99.9% hard cuts.
Movie making is about telling a story, not bombarding the audience with twirling "effects". They will soon get bored or irritated with that and never watch it again.
Now, if you want something more advanced, start with [Final Cut Express|http://www.apple.com/finalcutexpress> and when you are ready, move up to the [Studio|http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio> version. Both have plenty of transitions and there are thousands of plugins available. I don't use most of those either -the interesting tools are those for color correction, keying and compositing. Those are what makes the finished product look polished.

  • Need driver for Lacie CD/DVD Recorder in iTunes "Mac OS X 10.3.9"

I installed an internal LaCie CD/DVD Recorder (E-IDE/ATAPI) into my Dual 1.42GHz Power PC G4. iTunes refuses to recognize this make or model and won't allow me to burn CDs from iTunes.
This keeps me from being able to burn iTunes-purchased songs, or submitting track listings for compilation discs.
Is there an appropriate driver out there somewhere, or any other course of action I can take? (All I found while searching was LaCie drivers for Mac OSX 10.1.5 (As oppossed to Mac OSX 10.3.9 like I need.)
    Much obliged!

  • Problem rec FCP movie to dvd recorder

Tried to record a FCP3 movie to a dvd recorder but it came up with a warning that "this recording is not allowed". The movie is one I cut on FCP and exported to my mini-dv deck. It transfers fine to VHS, but not to dvd recorder. Any comments appreciated.

The FCP movie is entirely original, edited from 5 hours of mini-DV tapes from my camcorder, and exported to a fresh mini-DV tape. So there's no copyright possiblities.
It's a Sylvania, a friend of mine's, I wanted to burn a couple of DVD's quickly rather than the usual 6 hrs or so on my G4.
It seems odd, don't know why his dvr didn't want to recognize the source tape.
