T400 DVD RW recording problem, can only record via win7 explorer

After upgrading the T400 from Vista business to Win7 pro,
all my cd/dvd recording software solutions do not seem to work any more.
Nero, Ultimateburner, cdburnerxp , deepburner +++ all can see the
HL-DT-STDVDram GSA-u20n hx12 drive
but can not burn anything. Finds it to e a Read only Drive ?
However, win7 explorer can burn files etc
without any problem. Never ever had this problem before.
Anyone else had tis problem ?
I've tried to locate an updated driver but have not suceeded yet
All hints and ideas are very welcome.

Have you tried your original Roxio Business Creator software with Windows 7?

You have two basic options. One is to use a commercial screen recording app with access to system audio built into the app and the other is to add a system extension like SoundFlower that allows the QT X screen recorder to access/record the system audio. I use the former so I am not that familiar with SoundFlower but there should be several posts to this forum covering this topic.

Urgent: Can Only Record in Demonstration Mode

When I try to record, I can choose from any of the recording
modes, but it only outputs in demonstration mode (i.e., no text
entry boxes are recorded from keystokes). I noticed that when I
check the settings in the recording window, it will always default
to demonstration mode no matter which mode I choose after hitting
ok. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps consider performing the factory reset. Close
Captivate and open Windows Explorer. Then navigate to the following
folder on your PC:
C:\Documents and Settings\????\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe
Captivate
*NOTE: Replace ???? with your logged in user name.
Once you are there you should see a file named
Captivate_v30.dat. Delete this file and restart Captivate.
Captivate will bake up a fresh one when it restarts.
If you are reluctant to delete the file, just rename it
instead. The goal is to get it where Captivate can't find it. If it
can't find it, it creates a new one.

Can only record 5 second videos

My wife's incredible only records 4-5 second videos can anyone help us. I have tried settings and must not be doing right because my Fascinate I do long ones with no problem. Have incredible on lowest resolution and will only record 5 seconds

Creative X-FI xtrememusic Vista 32Bit Can only record Left chan

I seem to be have a major recording problem, when i select (REC)Line-in the recording output level only shows through the Left speaker (No signal on the right channel), even though the sound is coming through both speakers. I cannot get it to record in stereo, it will only record on the left speaker channel. If i change the REC to misrophone i have major Distortion no matter how much i decrease the input level.
Everything else is fine but i cannot work out what i am doing wrong. I'm getting input on both channels but when recording its only recording through the left channel. Please help us

Soundblaster x-fi xtrememusic sound card
lated vista drivers : Vista Driver 2.5.0004
Inputs used : guitar and microphone.
standard 2 stereo spreaker setup L/R
I've also tried the drivers on the CD and the BETA drivers but i'm still having problem recording in stereo. the input is only showing the left channel when recording.

Try saving the file to your desktop or someplace, then run the installer instead of opening it when you start the download.

New problem - can only connect w/o security

have a wireless router and had no problem getting my macbook to connect. added a desktop and can only connect if i disable the password feature. my question is twofold:
1. why will it not connect when I have to supply a password (the password is correct)
2. if I cannot resolve issue 1, then can I diable SSID broadcast but still not require a password?

Weird Problem - can only see Mac in "Share my Screen"

I've been having a strange problem that I think might have something to do with OpenGL, but I'm not sure. I think it might be because I've gotten some error messages that said that OpenGL wasn't available or working properly.
When I boot my mac, I have a hugely corrupted screen (gray with green stripes) which doesn't change at all. However, I can hear things starting up, and when I use "Share my Screen" from my MacBook, I can see everything, and the computer runs just fine.
I've tried attaching a different monitor; it looks exactly the same, and both monitors run perfectly when attached to other computers.
I tried taking out all the cards and things, wiping everything down, and putting them back. No change.
I tried booting in Safe Mode. It never actually booted. (I left it to try for about 20 hours before I gave up.)
I've tried resetting the PRAM, and that didn't help. (Before that, I had scattered green dots, and a fractured apple logo, with the widget that showed the computer was loading, until the point where the screen should turn blue, when it would freeze. Now I just have green stripes.)
I've tried to reinstall the original system, but when I attempt to boot from the CD, I get a kernal panic. This is true, no matter what CD I attempt to boot from.
I've opened the computer as a Firewire Drive (using an older Macbook) to change the system from there; but you can only install the stystem on the boot drive from the disks I have. While I was running it like this, the Firewire icon showed up just fine on my monitor, white on the gray with green stripes.
I've tried upgrading to Lion (I was using Snow Leopard) and was able to do it, but that didn't solve anything.
I don't appear to have the Lion reboot partition. At least, if I do, I don't know how to find it. The keyboard shortcuts don't do anything as far as I can tell. Since I cannot actually see anything on the screen until the comptuer is fully booted, so it might be there, but invisible.
Unfortunately, I didn't try the old install disks until after the Lion upgrade. Now, if I try to just install from the disk (using Share my Screen, so I can see what I'm doing) I'm told that I can't.
When I run Disk Utility, it says everything is fine.
The computer is due to be replaced in October anyway. Should I just give up and get the new one now? Or can any of you think of anything else that I might be able to try? Everything is totally backed up, so if I need to wipe my disks, that's not a problem.

Hi Robin,
The no boot in Safe Mode is a big clue, generally a serious Hard Drive problem, but can be others.
Are you saying the blotched screen showed up fine in Screen Sharing? If so the problem is downwind of the Video Card/VRAM, & you seem to have eliminated the Cable & Monitor, so I'd quess Logic Board most likely.
On the HDD problem, try Zeroing the drive while it's in Target Mode...
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
   2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
      *Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
   3. Click the Erase tab.
   4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
   5. Select that iMac volume.
   6. Highlight the drive, select Partition Tab, then Format type... MacOS Extended Journalled, select the Security Options button, choose Zero Out Data one pass, Erase... after completion do a new install... after completion hopefully you'll be able to get a good install.

Scanning problem - can only scan 1 page at a time

After a somewhat recent update, I can now only scan 1 single page at a time.
I used to get a message after the first page asking if I was completed or if I had additional pages to scan; now it scans 1 page and goes through the calibrating/saving process - so I end up saving each page individually and then having to combine all the saved pages into a single document!! errrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!
Does anyone have solution for this? Thanking you in advance. - David

It was your item 2 - the 'prompt for scanning more pages' must somehow have gotten 'unselected.'
I spoke with Adobe this morning, went through a long series of loading and unloading instructions in the program language...they couldn't figure it out and are to get back to me.
You solved my problem for me...so simple. That 'prompt for scanning more pages' is in very small print on my screen so it is hardly noticable.
Again, thank you....this has been such a nuisance to me.

Outlook calendar problem - can only select PM

This is probably in the wrong forum so please forgive the error.
When using the outlook client on my new MacBook Air, I only have the option to select PM for scheduling appointments in the calendar. I can't select AM when creating the appointment and if I go into preferences in outlook and click on calendar I get the image attached below when I try and set the option for when my day starts and ends.
It doesn't matter if I use the 24 hour clock or "show AM/PM" in system preferences under "date and time", although I haven't tried changing them and then rebooting the machine.
This is unique to this machine, as the issue doesn't occur on a windows based desktop logged into the same account in outlook, nor on my iPhone.
Any suggestions?

I installed mavericks from a USB and reformatted the hd. I set up a new user account added email, apple ID etc and then downloaded new iPhoto and iMovie. I manually copied documents, music inc itunes library folder and photos from time machine back up. I also copied original apps only using migration assistant to get idvd and garageband back as despite a lot of searching i couldnt find a way to selectively reinstall original apps not purchased from app store. Only third party apps are photoshop elements 9 and office 2011.

I have a 1st generation apple tv that my kids use in their tv room but the remote now will only toggle up and down. Anyone have this problem, can only acess movies and can toggle over to the side for tv shows or other content

Really frustrating. I have tried to pair 2 different remotes to see if that was the problem, but still can't toggle but up or down........ help!!

Have you restarted the AppleTV?
I have several white remotes for ATV1's and a couple have 'sticky' up buttons that require a harder press (one of these was chucked in the sunk a few years ago by my daughter), so I'm not convinced of their longevity as much as I prefer them ergonomically over the new silver ones.
Odd for two to be exhibiting the same issue which which is why I suggest restarting. If you had a low battery you'd probably be getting an onscreen warning icon.

Application And Gaming / Port Forwarding || HELP NEEDED || Can Only Access Via LAN

I have just bought a Wireless Router, Model Number: WGKPC354G-UK. With the intention of setting up a small server. This server will run from my PC (directly wired into router), running a game called "Counter Strike" - I had to download a dedicated-server tool for this and i successfuly installed this and followed the tutorial to set it all up..
So I thought i had done it, but I could only access my server with my internal IP 192.168.1.64 (LAN).
I then found out that i needed to "Port-Forward" I followed a tutorial on www.portforward.com - This showed me how to open the ports, and which ones to open.
I did all this and i still encounter the same problem !
So i then opened all my router ports "DNZ" and it still doesnt work !!!
Any help will be greatly aprreciated !

Keep in mind your ISP could be blocking the ports needed. DMZ almost ALWAYS works and if it doesnt, most likely your ISP blocks the ports.
another test is to make sure you can connect to the game server from another CS machine on the inside of your network. If this works, that means your server is up and running properly and its probably your ISP blocking certain ports needed for the CS Server.
You should also check you have the Windows firewall disabled, and any other software firewall on your server disabled.

I cannot log into yahoo in 3.6 or 4.0, accounts can only be acessed thru explorer

After I upgraded to 4.0 I could no longer log onto Yahoo. It just keeps taking me back to the login page. I reinstalled 3.6 and am having the same problem. I have to access my email account through explorer.

I'm having the same issues, running Firefox 3.6.
After downloading Windows Updates for Vista, Hotmail has stopped working.
I can log on, but can't click on any messages.
None of the buttons work at all in Hotmail; it's completely frozen.
I have to log on using Internet Explorer.
I had the same problems with Firefox 4.0; Norton 360 wouldn't work properly with it, so I deleted it, and went back to Firefox 3.6.

Jetpack 5510l has no wifi signal - can only connect via usb to get Internet.

Bought this device on a Thursday and it worked flawlessly - until Saturday. The device has had a consistent connection to Verizon, but on Saturday the wifi began to 'go out.' The device showed everything was working, but the wifi radio seems to have just turned off (after intermittently failing for a period of a couple hours). We tried several different devices, none showed a working wifi signal coming from the mifi by the end of the day.
What we have done so far:
Rebooted.
Removed battery (after shutting down), restarted.
Used hard-reset button.
Used web intefrace to turn wifi on and off - and on, changed ssid, passphrase, reset again (after each phase we also gave it an hour to see if the signal would return).
Nothing has gotten the wifi from the device back online - it's as if either the radio or wifi antenna is completely broken. We attempt to connect using 3 or 4 different devices - so it is most certainly the mifi. There are no errors from the device - is there a debug / test mode?
Our current workaround is to connect via usb to a Macbook and just share the internet connection - which works great, but makes travel a bit more difficult if a computer has to be connected to allow us to have a wifi signal (not from the mifi).

Taking the Jetpack apart is going to void your warranty. I would not suggest going down that road until your warranty is up. Instead give VZW a call and have them ship you a replacement under the warranty service agreement. You have done a perfect job of isolating the problem to a wifi radio issue. Its easy to recreate and confirm which will make the phone call fairly quick. Unless you got sold on some kind of Best Buy warranty and prefer to go through them, VZW is going to be your best bet at getting a speedy replacement.

TS2634 I can only communicate via my ipad.....apple to apple...i.e. ipad to iphone users etc. Cannot send emails to anyone else..?

That is correct this app sends messages only to other iOS devices or macs running later versions of OSX.

You should be able to email anyone with a valid email address. Who do you have your email account with? Did you set that up on your iPad?
To set up your email account on your iPad use the Settings app.
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendar >Add Account
Be sure all information is entered correctly.

Record Store only reads one record problem

I have a problem where I can read and write a record to a records store, but i can not do this for multiple records as i am trying with below code. Any help is very welcomes thank you, I am very new to J2ME.
I have a J2ME midlet that calls the startRecordStore() method which create a record 1.
It uses a static int records and it increments it every time a new recordstore is created, well I am not entirely sure if i need to do this. Because I want to go through all the records created.

I don't know where you're calling startRecordStore(), but you're creating a new record store for each "records".
Shouldn't you be just opening the record store "StudentStore", and them adding records to that store?
