Save as Word Document

I am new to Pages and very used to Word which I love, but after reading glowing praise for Pages, I purchased it. Is there any way to use a format painter? Trying to copy just one line on the style sheet changes around the whole para. Trying to save a style as all caps does not save the caps? Is there any more sophisticated info on how to use pages other than the help topics? I am brand new to this forum.
When I try to save as a Word document to make some style changes that Pages seems to be unable to do, or my ignorance, it says that Microsoft does not have the font baghdad, but I am not using it???

Creating and using an ALL CAPS style is easy.
The main thing to know, is that when we apply it to a paragraph, the contents of this one isn’t modified. Only the way it is displayed is changed.

Which styles where you unable to apply ?
Apple products aren't behaving like M…Soft ones.
Happily, they don't allow users to apply styles like bold, italic, bolditalic to fonts which weren't built in these styles by their author. Trying to apply this kind of style in Word would be pure wasted time. As far as I know, Pages will drop these 'faux-styles' during the import process.
I guess that you built your document starting from a template.
Several of them are using fonts in one or several of their pages which aren't in the default document so newbies are unaware of the fact that they are used.
Baghdad is a font delivered with MacOS X but I didn't found any reference to it in the files related to Pages. Which is the template used as a starting point to create your document ? Is is one of those which are delivered with Pages ?

    Easiest way with Acrobat pro, is save the Word document, then convert the document to PDF with Acrobat, rather than doing a "save as" in Word itself to PDF.
    Do you have Acrobat full version or Pro?

    I currently have Abobe Reader X (10.1.2) on Windows 7 and I need to save a Word document currently in A3 as a PDF file to print in A4. For some documents I have no problem printing and all of the text, images, boxes, lines etc. all show up no problem, except for 2 documents where there is a problem. The document fits onto the screen perfectly.

    Reader is unable to create PDF files. You must be using some other product, and therefore should post your question in that product's forums.

    because as I understand it, this is a RoboHelp for Word project.

    at least give RoboHelp HTML a once over. The editing interface is
    very "Word like". You will find that a great many things you
    struggle with Word over disappear in RoboHelp HTML.

    In order to save any type of document on your phone you need to have an app that supports that form of document.
    There are several word processing apps but I prefer Pages.  Buy this app. Once it is on your phone you can tap the Word document in your email to view it then tap the Share icon and Open in Pages.
    If you edit the document and email it you will have the choice to send it as a Pages document, a Word document or a PDF file.

    As long as you are using Mountain Lion (10.8.x) yes, you'll see this:
    You will need 2 copies of Pages, one for your Mac and one for the iPad.

    hello all, hopefully someone can help me because i am very frustrated with pages. I recently bought my 2011 macbook pro for school this fall. I transferred all my data from old macbook to this macbook. I needed a new word processing program, so I decided to download pages. Since the download I cannot save anything as a word document and for my school you need everything to be a .doc document to open on the schools computers. Every time I try and save a .doc document it comes up with an error saying:The document “Untitled” could not be saved as “essay one”. You don’t have permission.  To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info. Being a college student I write 2-3 essays weekly and this is getting ridiculous that I cannot save documents as .doc when it gives me this option. I have went to file get info and went to change my permissions it says my name Danielle: and gives me to options read only and write and read only. It also gives the options of staff and everyone to read only, to write and read, and only for everyone is has the option no access. I really need someone's help!! So if anyone is out there write me back! Thank you!

    The point is, where are you trying to save to?
    It maybe you do not have privileges on your server.
    Have you tried saving elsewhere, such as in your Documents folder, then dragging the file across to wherever it is you want the file?

    Not sure if I understand exactly what you are doing, but I think you are opening the document using a Word as a plug in. This downloads the file and opens it from the desktop. In order to see changes from the portal you need to upload the new version by clicking the edit icon and reloading the file.
