  • I can't save documents in Pages.

I can't save documents in Pages. I get a "file does not exist" error message. I've tried changing the file name, length, and location. To no avail. This is only sporadic.

    Hey fruhulda,
I have a similar problem although I'm running OSX 10.9.5.  I'v just started to completely remove pages and attempt a reinstall.  I did the search for the plist file.  There was only one file with the com.apple.iwork.pages name but it did not have the .plist extension, even when I checked the info page.  Is this the same file?
I'm not sure I want to update to Yosemite yet, but it looks like I may have to in order to continue to work with my pages documents, unless the reinstall works.

  • Is it possible to save documents in pages as .docx?

Hi have just installed the app "pages" on my ipad. In combination with WebDav nav I can change Word documents on my ipad and synchronize to my laptop.
On my laptop I use Microsoft Office 2010, documents are saved as .docx. Is it possible to save documents in pages with extension .docx (I can only see .doc opttion for Word).
    Kind regards,
    Saskia

The answer is not "no". The best answer is probably DropBox. You install DropBox on your phone and on your computer. You save/copy the documents you want to keep in DropBox and on your phone you can open them. Better still, DropBox for iPhone and iPad permits you to "start" the file, which makes a copy and keeps it directly on your device (instead of downloading each time).
You can put PDFs, Microsoft Word Docs, Excel Spreadsheets, iWork documents, images, movies, HTML, plain text, etc. and view them on your phone and take them with you. Not only that, but you can also access them from any computer using a web browser (in case you lose your phone). I do this with my travel docs all the time,
The other answer is that the iBooks app permits you to load PDFs into it through iTunes. Take your PDF and drag it into the the iTunes window to add it to the Books library in iTunes. Then, connect your iPad, select which books you want to sync (in this case, the "Books" are your PDF documents), and sync. Ta-da -- your files in iBooks. It should be noted that DropBox permits you to copy PDF documents into iBooks too (and images into the Photos app).

  • Do i have to have "pages" to save documents from my pc into icloud?

do i have to have "pages" in order to save documents from my windows pc useing icloud?

    Hi Poeman,
Seems you've take a wrong turn in the hallway and opened the door to the Pages (Mac) community. Pages comes in two species, Pages '09 for Mac OS X, and Pages for iOS, the operating system on iPhone iPod and iPad. There's no Windows version, and to the best of my (limited) knowledge, no Windows application that can open or save documents in Pages format.
Your best place to get an answer to your question is probably the iCloud on my PC community. The link will take you there.

  • Pages, Numbers and Keynotes doesn't allow me to save documents

I created a new document in pages, numbers or keynote and, when trying to save it to my documents folder, it shows me "Couldn't auto-save document".
I've tried with different folders with the same results.
There's no problem when saving to iCloud.
I had installed iWork'09 and moved it to another folder.
Versions are: Pages 5.2.2, Numbers 3.2.2 with OSX 10.9.5 Mavericks in a iMac 27-inch late 2009

Are you running any anti-virus, anti-malware on your Mac? If so, disable this a/v software.
If not, I would suggest the following:
Boot into Recovery (hold command+R at the chime)
Run Disk Utility (verify/repair permissions, and verify drive) on your boot drive
    Reboot normally
Boot into safe mode ( you can do this during the above reboot)
At boot chime, press and hold shift key until horizontal progress bar appears
At login prompt, press and hold shift key, after your password, but before clicking right arrow to log in.Press and hold shift key until your Desktop appears
    Reboot normally
Re-evaluate if Pages auto-save failure dialog gone.

  • Can you save a document in Pages and then upload it to a website?

In other words, can I create a word document in Pages on the iPad and save it somewhere (?) and then go to a site and use its upload feature, ie Browse for a document, and then send it to the site.
(Right now, the "Choose File" button on the site I want to use is grayed out on my iPod Touch)

I have the same need as vudean. I don't understand the security issue. If I type a document using Pages or whatever, why can't I upload the document to a web site? I think Apple should make the standard web "file upload control" available to iPad users.
I understand that there should be some limitations, but it should be possible to upload standard user files. I can upload them to Dropbox, so I don't se the big difference.
Does Apple read this? If not, where can I propose this feature to them?

  • Pages 5.0 will not save documents created in Pages 09

I have hundreds of important documents I created and saved in Pages 09.  I got a new Mac Mini running Mavericks 10.9.5 with the new Pages 5.0.  The new Pages will not save my Pages 09 documents.  Pages 09 will not save them either.  Help!

    1. Is it possible you installed from a demo installer and your 30 day trial period is up, when it goes into Read Only mode?
    2. Where and what was your purchased disk?
    3. Where are you saving to?
    4. Have you tried saving somewhere else eg an external hard drive and see what happens then?
    5. The auto-saving issue with Pages 5.2.2 could be problems with iCloud and online access.

  • Can't save a word document in pages

hello all, hopefully someone can help me because i am very frustrated with pages. I recently bought my 2011 macbook pro for school this fall. I transferred all my data from old macbook to this macbook. I needed a new word processing program, so I decided to download pages. Since the download I cannot save anything as a word document and for my school you need everything to be a .doc document to open on the schools computers. Every time I try and save a .doc document it comes up with an error saying:The document “Untitled” could not be saved as “essay one”. You don’t have permission.  To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info. Being a college student I write 2-3 essays weekly and this is getting ridiculous that I cannot save documents as .doc when it gives me this option. I have went to file get info and went to change my permissions it says my name Danielle: and gives me to options read only and write and read only. It also gives the options of staff and everyone to read only, to write and read, and only for everyone is has the option no access. I really need someone's help!! So if anyone is out there write me back! Thank you!

The point is, where are you trying to save to?
It maybe you do not have privileges on your server.
Have you tried saving elsewhere, such as in your Documents folder, then dragging the file across to wherever it is you want the file?

  • HT202879 i am unable to save documents in keynote or pages. The file "untitled.key.tef" could not be opened keeps coming up.

i am unable to save documents in keynote 09 or pages. The file "untitled.key.tef" could not be opened keeps coming up. Can anyone tell me what is happening?

How did you originally make these documents?

  • How to edit and save a document in Pages

How do I edit and save a document in Pages with MacBook Air

    1) Do you want to edit a .doc(x) and then save it as a .doc(x) again? You'll need to be a bit more specific
    2) Pages is an analogy to MS Word, so editing would be just as simple as typing. Go to 'Help' in the menu bar in Pages and then select 'Pages Help' to enter How-to's and Tutorials from Apple on using Pages.

How do I save a document in Pages (iCloud, iPad)

After you have finished editing your document, tap the Documents button (top-left), this will save your document and it will begin uploading to the cloud automatically (provided iCloud is setup properly).

  • How do I save documents from the new Pages into a Word Document

How do I save documents from the new Pages into a Word Document?

Thank you so much - so simple!  I had been using the 'share' option (worked in old Pages) and only had icloud or email as options.  I have to attach word documents to emails to send to work. I don't want to use icloud because it's too public and I don't trust it.  Also, you have to be able to access the internet and I need word documents on my USB stick for work where there's no internet.
I love my Mac but I do wish Apple would remember those of us living in less-than-perfect computer-land.
    Thanks again

  • How do I save documents from iCloud into pages on my ipad?

HOw do I save documents from iCloud into pages using an ipad?

Where are you expecting to see "iCloud document?" Pages stores copies of your documents in iCloud but the documents appear in the Pages app. When you edit the document changes are automatically saved to iCloud. You do not go to iCloud to look for documents to open or copy.

  • How do I save an older document to pages '09 so I can open it in the versions of pages?

How do I save an older document to pages '09 so I can open it in the versions of pages?

Best is to Export to Word .doc files, just about all of the many versions of Pages can open those.

  • Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of clicking the button save I clicked the delete button at the end. Is there any way to recover it?

Hi, I would like to know how can I recover a document from pages that I didn't save anytime and instead of saving the doc I clicked the delete button. Is there any way to recover it?

Regardless of application, the first step that I take is to save and name the current document — even if it has no content yet. With Pages, this good habit enables autosave. As you add content, your document revision history is restorable via the File Revert To menu. The delete key has the same document foreboding as only teaching a pet raven to speak "Nevermore."

  • How do i save my document on pages so that i can open it on other computers

How do I sav emy document on pages so that i can open it on other computers?

Well, that was the short answer, then I rethought your question.
Will the “other computers,” be Mac, or a mixture of Mac, Windows PC, and possibly Linux?
What application on the other computers will be accessing the Pages content created on your MacBook Pro?
Using the File export options I originally mentioned, you could save the files to iCloud. Then on the other computer, you use the web browser to sign into your iCloud account. When you click the iWork icon, the files that you saved from your MBP will be there. You can then right-click on the file you want and a download option exists.
