Save enhancement utilities

I used to have a utility that gave extra options in the save dialogue box that also placed a thumb nail image of a PDF in the finder window. Apple implemented Thumb nails in the finder and I stoped using it.
However one of the great things it did was allow an option of naming and filing the Pic file created by a screen dump (command + shift + 4), Apple just dumps it on the desktop call Pic1, Pic2 in sequence a totally useless result if you do a lot of screen-dumps and forget to go back and rename them.
Does anyone know of a current enhancement utility that has this as a feature?
Regards
the_macworks

There are a number of utilities that enhance Save and Open dialogs. The best is Default Folder X. As for changing the location of screen dumps or the type of image file used these can be modified using one of the many system mod utilities like MacPilot or Onyx or Secrets - VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Keep in mind that such modifications may break with future versions of OS X.

  • Follow up to MRSS planning board how to populate

Thanks for teh reply Varun. It was correct as I did not knwo that the create/save populate teh planning board data via the BADi.
However 3 of the 4 added fields TPLNR, ABCKZ,  and ILARTa re being populated in the Order Change (IW32) transaction but the field called Remaining Work field OFMNW_2 is not. It is generally calculated when teh actual work in teh IW41 confirmation is changed to less than planned. I.E. if the planned work was 8 and the operator puts 4 in actual work, then the IW41 screen shows remeaining work field filled in with the difference (4).
How can I populate this field via the BADi implementation PUSH_TO_MRS method.  I tried to link the user exit for confirmation save (Enhancement CONFPM05, user exit EXIT_SAPLCORF_005 INCLUDE ZXCOFU05) to then invoke the instance of the class method call in the user exit after saving the remaing work field in an EXPORT to MEMORY ID:
Here is the code in the user exit that then fires off the BADI implementaion method PUSH_TO_MRS

    Hi Stephen...
I think you are going wrong...
From you post I understand that:
    1) You have implemented the user exit EXIT_SAPLCORF_005.
Note: This is called when you enter the confirmation in IW41.
    2) Your understanding here is right that you need to integrate this information into MRS and you can do it from the above user exit.
    3) But you are wrong -- if you call the BADI here.
Note: BADI methods will not work if you call them arbitrarily anywhere !! They work only when called in a specified program flow.
The given BADI is called during the forward integration -- meaning when the order is saved. After the BADI is called MRS save is called and the data is saved in MRS.
Calling the BADI method alone has not effect.
I suggest that you read more information about BADIs and User Exits.
    Regards
    Varun.

  • S video in, no colour picture on Qosmio G10

Only getting a B&W picture on G10 when connected from STB to monitor in port with switched scart to S video lead .
Have set monitor in to sVideo in Tosh picture enhancement utilities & TV to PAL (as in UK).
In G Force Device settings advanced TV type is set to PAL - B.
Getting all channels v clearly but only in B&W.
In Qosmio player mode ( ie without XP & MCE) the picture is in perfect colour so it must be a XP/MCE problem. Any ideas?

Have finally found the solution which I pass on in the hope that it might help others.
The Qosmio was set up correctly.
I dont know why colour was received in player mode but to get colour in MCE the digital STB had to have the TV out configured to Y/C. This is apparently the same as S video. Voila.

I have an ipad 2, ios7 will not download. I keep getting an error message that just tells me ios wont install, however it does not tell me why. Any suggestions? Thanks

I find the Air easier to work with if I need a keyboard if, for no other reason, that's more compact to carry around than the iPad and a keyboard, even one that is part of an iPad case.  I also often have to access data from one application when using another, and iOS is not at its best when having to do rapid application switching (Command-Tab switching is a lot faster than the double press home, scroll the icons at the bottom and swap).
As well, for editing I find the lack of sandboxing on OSX allows for efficiency enhancing utilities across applications, something you don't get in iOS.  I understand the reason for that, but while more secure it also creates issues of its own in terms of usability in a number of situations.
I prefer the iPad for totally single application focused situations where little or no input is required.  I use my iPad to hold copies of manuals when I'm doing a full day continuing education presentation for CPAs.  A MacBook Aire can't really fill in very easily for that usage.
I see them each as tools appropriate for different jobs.

  • Stylesheet (linkcolours) NOT available in Safari Prefs??

    Hello!!
Hopefully I'm not asking a question that goes WAY beyond my computer knowledge. If I am, feel FREE to give me an easy answer!!
Anyway, I received bought a new Powerbook and have been transferring data from my iMac desktop...data files, some settings and prefs, settings, etc.
I noticed that in Safari's Preferences under the "Advanced" section, my desktop computer has a style sheet...a SINGLE style sheet...in the pulldown menu entitled "linkcolours.css." My new Powerbook, however, has NO SUCH sytlesheet option and, I believe, has NO sytle sheet option to choose AT ALL!
My question is two...or threefold...what is a style sheet and it's purpose?? What does the linkcolours.css file do? And, lastly, why do I have this stylesheet option available with my older iMac but NOT on my new Powerbook?? I do not EVER remember caring or changing or needing to select a style sheet on my old desktop.
    Thanks!
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
Without seeing the contents of the file it's impossible to say what it does, but from the name of the file it sounds like it simply changes the colours of the links that appears on sites you browse.
More info on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) can be found here.
Do you use any Safari enhancer utilities on the iMac? It's possible one of those may have set the stylesheet file.
The default for Safari is to have no files in it's list, so your new PowerBook is showing the correct thing

  • I have an iPad 2, shall I get a macbook air 11'' ?

    Hello,
    I need some advice.
I bought the 1st generation Macbook Air 13'' when it first came out in 2006 - It's been running GREAT until this year the internal battery died and started to expand inside, now causing an air bubble in the center of my keyboard and slowly starting to affect the motherboard (audio no longer working).. it's pretty much useless to me now and fixing it doesn't make any sense.
I decided to buy the iPad2 when it came out last year and since then I haven't found the need to use my Macbook Air (I also have my work ThinkPad so whenever I need a laptop I use that one) - I've become so reliant on my iPad that I no longer need a laptop for personal use.
However, I've been considering buying the new generation Macbook Air 11'' just because I love the computer - I'm not entirely able to justify this purchase but I absolutely want it. Can anyone who owns both tell me WHEN/WHY I'd need my macbook air and not my iPad? In what situations do you find yourself needing your laptop as opposed to your iPad?
Also, I'm waiting for the iPhone 5 to come out in June or August and will hopefully buy it then.
    Any advise? thanks!

  • Windowsserver.log filling u p

I noticed tonight that my harddrive on my Powerbook G4 (the 1.33 Ghz in my sig) was filling up. I found that my windowserver.log (inside /private/var/log/) was growing up rapidly. In Console, I can see the line:
Nov 14 03:02:40 [4356] (ipc/rcv) invalid name: CGXRunOneServerPass: mach_msg (gServiceSet) failed (last RPC: LaunchAppRequestWithAuditInfo)
over and over and over. Console eventually crashes trying to show all the lines. They are all the same, spaced seconds apart.
Deleting the .log will help, but within an hour, the .log file will eat all my remaing 10GB free up.
What can I do to stop the filling of this log file?
    iSMH

    iSMH
This indicates that some programme/application/utility is "keeping" the window server busy continually. Do you have any haxies ("enhancement" utilities that alter the appearance and/or behaviour of X) installed? In System Preferences > Accounts > Login Items, are there any items that may be responsible? Could you please post the Login Items for your set up and also the start up items inside /Library/Startup Items?

  • How do you uninstall programs?

This is my first time using a Mac, so I'm still learning how everything works. It took me a while to discover you had to drag programs to the "Applications" folder to install them.
How would I uninstall a program? Is it a simple matter of dragging the program to the "Trash", or is it more involved like it is on Windows?

For a few applications, to completely eradicate them you can do spotlight searches to find helper applications associated with the app you're trying to fully delete. For instance, if you want to get rid of Photoshop, there are a few of updater programs and internet plugin files that are associated with photoshop that you'll have to search for (or find some other way) and uninstall. Luckily, most apps bundle the helper programs in them (such as iTunes and the iTunesHelper app) so if you delete the main application, all the others go with it. I love that OS X can have very complex applications all wrapped up in one package instead of requiring uninstallers. However, for system enhancing utilities (preference panes, etc) the apps have to bury plugins and extensions in the system folders, but as folks mentioned these usually come with uninstallers.

  • DB2 OS commands

Please can any one send SAP BASIS DB2  OS  Commands?
    Thanks,
    Praveen

    hi praveen,
DATABASE 2 Universal Database Server for z/OS Version 8 is the twelfth and largest release of DB2 for MVS. It brings new synergy with the zSeries hardware and is the first major subsystem to exploit the z/OS 64-bit virtual addressing capabilities. DB2 V8 offers data support, application development, and query functionality enhancements for e-business, while building upon the traditional characteristics of availability, exceptional scalability, and performance for the enterprise of choice.
DB2 Version 8 has been re-engineered for e-business, with many fundamental changes in architecture and structure. Key improvements enhance scalability, application porting, security, and continuous availability. Management for very large databases is made much easier, while 64-bit virtual storage support makes management simpler and improves scalability and availability. This new version breaks through many old limitations in the definition of DB2 objects, including SQL improvements, schema evolution, longer names for tables and columns, longer SQL statements, enhanced Java and Unicode support, enhanced utilities, and many more advantages
SAP provides an excellent DBA tools (for Oracle DB) which is called BRTOOLS. BRTOOLS is a compilation tools range from BRBACKUP (tools to maintain backup database), BRARCHIVE (tools to maintain archive files backup), BRCONNECT (tools to maintain checking database, updating database statistics, etc), BRRESTORE (tools to maintain database restoration), and some specific and useful tool.
When SAP Basis running one or more tools from BRTOOLS, it will create a job log to provide SAP Basis some information about BRTOOLS activities whether it succeed, succeed with warning, or failed. We can access those log from SAP R/3 through SAPGUI.
SAP provides DB14 tcode for SAP Basis to access those database logs. Through this article, I’ll show you how to monitored your database logs.
First, type DB14 on your SAPGUI screen. You’ll have this screen :
To check your BRCONNECT logs, just click BRCONNECT button.
You’ll see some logs. The one which coloured grey is BRCONNECT job that had run well or successfully. The other one which coloured yellow is BRCONNECT job that had run but ended with warning. If your BRCONNECT job hadn’t run well then it will show you red coloured log. To see what’s really happened, justdouble click one of i logs.
For more detailed information, click Detail Log button.
For BRBACKUP job log, you can click BRBACKUP button.
For more information about BRBACKUP activities, double click on one of its log.
To get more detailed information, click on Detail Log button.
For BRARCHIVE log activities, click on BRARCHIVE button.
For detailed information, just double click on one of its lines and you’ll get this screen.
For detailed information, you have to click Detail Log button.
SAP through Going Live Check event will check this log to make sure that your SAP production system is ready to go live. They will mention and warn you if something wrong with your backup configuration. So, make sure that you’ll have this log check every day to make your system has high availability and minimize your SAP production downtime.
Checking SAP R/3 Database via BRTOOLS
BRTOOLS is a database tool developed by SAP to help SAP Basis manage his Oracle based SAP R/3 database. In the last tutorial, I had shown you how to check your database through DB13 tcode. DB13 is database independent tcode to manage your database whether you’re using MS SQL, Oracle, DB2, or SAPDB.
Here, I am going to demonstrate how to use BRTOOLS to check your Oracle 9i database. You need to logon to your SAP R/3 server using ORA[SID] user.
Type BRTOOLS on your console and then you’ll have this screen. For your information, I’am using UNIX OS. It might be different when you’re using Windows OS.
Choose number 6 option by typing 6 and then press ENTER.
To check your database choose number 1 option and then press ENTER.
In this screen, you might need to input some information about your database such as your SAP Database profile, your database user and password, database owner, and something you might not want to be checked. For this moment, I am using default properties and press ENTER.
This screen show you BRTOOLS confirmation. Just type C and then press ENTER to proceed to the next step.
    Press ENTER to proceed.
Now, you’ll see that database check process is running. Wait until it finished.
Type S to stop and exit from BRTOOLS menu. Now you had learn how to check your SAP R/3 database by using DB13 tcode and BRTOOLS command. In the next tutorial, I’ll show you another tips and trick that might be useful and helpful. Stay there and always connected.
    Checking SAP R/3 Database
Most Basis jobs are related with database server. Whether you’re using Microsoft SQL server from Microsoft, Oracle Database from Oracle, DB2 Universal Database from IBM or SAPDB from MySQL AB, all your job are facing with them closely.
SAP are design its database very complex and beatiful. SAP also develop database tools to accompany you as Basis in order free you from complicated and frustated database specific related jobs such as rebuilding index, checking tablespace, checking whole database, updating your database statistic, monitoring your database growth, etc.
I just going to explain about BRTOOLS for Oracle because I only have Oracle database right now. BRTOOLS has numerous tools inside it.
To check your Oracle database, you can go to your SAP screen. Go to DB13 tcode.
    Double click on current date.
    Choose Check Database.
If you want to run check database command now, just choose Start Immedietly. But if you wan to run it later, just schedule it on appropriate time.
    Checking SAP R/3 tablespaces
SAP R/3 are ERP software using large database. Usually commercial databases such Oracle, DB2, Informix is used as its database server. Mine using Oracle 9.2.0.6.
SAP tcode DB02 is use to check database size, tablespaces size, current statistic, checking freespace statistic, analyze detailed tablespace, checking missing indexes, and space critical objects. Actually, we can do more than that.
SAP R/3 installation created 6 tablespaces by default. Here are name of their tablespaces :
    PSAPTEMP
    PSAPUNDO
    PSAP[SID]
    PSAP[SID]620
    PSAP[SID]UDR
    SYSTEM
I am using SAP R/3 Enterprises 4.7 ext 200 version. It may be different if you are using old or new ones.
SAP R/3 data is saved on PSAP[SID] tablespace. So, we need to managed this tablespace carefully.
    When you type DB02,
Press Space Statistic button to find out tablespace size and its growth. Tablespace’s growth can be seen daily, weekly, or monthly.
To check tablespace current size, just click Current Size button.
Click on PSAP[SID] tablespace and then, click Freespace Analysis.
If your PSAP[SID] tablespace size is reaching 95% level, you should consider increasing its size. You can use BRTOOLS to increase tablespace size. We’ll talk about BRTOOLS later
    regards
    karthik
if the above info helps you pls reward me points

  • Deleting old web addresses

When I type in a web address in the Google box I get a list of EVERY web address I ever used that starts with the same letter. I understand how this can be helpful but is there any way to turn off that function? It can get really annoying at times. I wouldn't mind if I could keep the addresses I want and delete the ones that I no longer use. Where are all these addresses stored? I don't want to have to go to the trouble of using private browsing and reseting Safari every time I turn on the computer. Thanks!

It sounds like you two are talking about two different things ... partly due to Dylanmusic saying "web addresses" when apparently actually meaning to refer to Google searches (I think).
I think Dylanmusic wants to get rid of the autofilled search strings in the Google search field.
QuickTimeKirk is explaining how to keep the address field from autofilling web site addresses.
Dylanmusic, you can get rid of all autofill entries for a given web site, such as Google, or none. You can't selectively delete them. (That is, you can't without third-party programs. I don't know if there are any Safari enhancing utilities that might enable this. If someone knows about an add-on program with that capability I'm sure they'll chime in.)
Is that what you're looking for? Your first post is a little confusing, since you refer to "web addresses" in the "Google box." Are you referring to search entries in the Google search box, or are you referring to web addresses in the address field?

  • Equium A100-147 PSAABE - Win7 TVAP error

Hello all, hope someone can help.
My A100-147 was supplied with XP as an OS. I've just done a clean install of Win7 Professional 32bit. All necessary system drivers were installed from disk during the installation with the exception of the Flash Media, as there was no Win 7 driver listed for it [here|http://www.toshiba.co.uk/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK&mode=allMachi nes&action=search&teddProduct=695&selShortMod=476]
    I installed a Vista 32 bit driver 2.0.0.6-IEC (fmd-20070709130655) which works fine.
All good so far but my problem is I can't adjust the screen brightness and the Function buttons (Fn + F6 etc) don't work. I thought the Toshiba Value Added Package 1.2.40 would sort this but I get an error when I try to install it. Setup TVAP error. 0x8146045B I've also tried the older TVAP 1.2.28 but it also creates errors.
So any advice on how to get my Fn buttons working would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

Thanks Dr & Tom, some things to chew on alright!
I've seen but not tried to install the new version 6.0 bios, once upon a long ago I killed a desktop motherboard updating the bios so Its always been a last ditch option since then.
Regarding installing in the correct order.
The laptop came supplied with XP MCE and 1Gb RAM. Some years ago I replaced the HHD for a bigger/slightly faster unit and installed 2Gb RAM. I then carried out a fresh install of XP PRO SP3 and discovered as you suggest the system is fussy about which order thins are installed. It took me a couple of OS installs to figure it out and it ended up something like:
    OS
    Intel drivers
    Common module (Tosh power saver)
    Other utilities as required.
I built a new desktop to replace my aging XP unit at Christmas and installed Win7. I really like it and was considering buying a laptop with Win7 so I can use the Homegroup for file transfers etc. Then I thought I'd try installing Win7 on the A100 just to see how it runs and tbh it runs better than I ever thought it would. As its basically used for surfing and emailing its all the laptop I need, with Win7 on it its like a new machine ... well if only I could get the function buttons to work that is ... lol
Back to resolving the issue, I'm limited in the order I install drivers, the Win7 disk installed LAN WAN Graphics and sound drivers during installation, not much I can do about that!
I could try the bios update but for the reasons above I'm nervous about it, any horror stories or hints about carrying this out. Try that and then retry the VAPs or the Vista options. I forsee system restore taking a hammering!
    Any more suggestions welcome.
    Thanks
