Save EXCEL document to ACCESS DB field

I have a need to store an EXCEL spreadsheet in a field of an ACCESS db table.  It needs to perform the same as the ACCESS cmdInsertObject command so the spreadsheet can be opened from inside of an ACCESS application.  The spreadsheet is a test evaluation from a Labview application.  The ACCESS application is distributed to multiple users.
I am running Labview 7.1 with the current MS Report Generation toolkit and connectivity toolkit.  I successully read/write to the database, including binary data objects, and read/write to EXCEL.  Embedding the EXCEL doc has me stuck.
Thank in advance for any help.
Russ

Hi Russ,
I'm still not sure how you would be able to do this with applications
created with something other than LabVIEW. Since the LabVIEW DB Toolkit
makes use of  ADO (ActiveX Data Objects) to communicate with
Access through it's OLE DB interface, we have the same ActiveX API
available as you would in for example Visual Basic (VB). All we need to
know is the steps necessary to do this in VB - then you can implement
the same calls with the Property Node and Invoke Node in LAbVIEW.
If you can't do this yourself, please send me the part of a VB (or
similar) application that specifies that the type of the field is of the
*.xls format. Please don't send a complete program - just the actual
calls that specify the field type, thanks.

  • Unable to save Word documents when accessing them directly from the site because the document never converts from a read-only even though the User chooses to enable editing

Issue has only popped up recently and cannot reproduce in a Test environment.  Unaware of any SharePoint changes, so hoping someone can point me in the correct direction.
Previously Word document did not have to be physically checked out, but rather the editing of the doc also checked out the doc in a document library. This is the way we want it to remain –
no manual check-out process. Now if a doc is edited without being checked-out, there is an issue with the process as the application thinks the doc is read-only (message received when trying to save the doc) even if enable editing is selected. The
following message appears when you try to save the document:
This message can appear if you have been editing a file that was opened as read-only. A file opened as read-only will have (Read-Only) appended to the file name as it appears in the title bar of Word. You can still save the document, but you must
save it by using a different file name. If you use Windows Explorer to change the read-only properties of the file, while the file is open in Word, it will not enable Word to save the file. Word must open a non-read-only version of the file in order to save
it by using its original file name. If you have not made any changes to the file, you can close it, and then use the following steps to make the file writeable. 1. Click the File tab, and then click Open. 2. Browse to the file and right-click it. 3. Click
Properties, and then clear the Read-Only check box. 4. Reopen the file. If you have made changes to a read-only file, you can save it, and then use the following steps to give the modified file the original file name. 1. Click the File tab, and then click
Save As. 2. Enter a different file name, and then click Save. 3. NOTE: Adding "Rev1", or "Mod1" to the original file name may help you to remember it later. 4. Click the File tab, and then click Close. 5. Open Windows Explorer. 6. Browse
to the original read-only file. 7. Rename the read-only file. 8. Browse to the new file. 9. Rename the new file to the name of the original file. Do not delete the read-only file until after you have determined you no longer need it.
Previously, when check-out was optional, a file was checked out automatically when someone opened it for editing, unless it was already checked out. The editing commands notified the User that the file is being/was checked out.  The real issue is the
word doc can no longer be saved as the application still believes the doc is read-only.

    Hi,
According to your description, you give the domain admin full control over files on the old file server, but you cannot move the files to the new file server. After pull the files from the old to the new file server, the domain admin can only read the files
    on the new file server.
How did you move the files from the old file server to the new file server? Did you setup replication between the two file server or use robocopy?
Please check the files permissions on the new file server to see if the permissions are changed, then share the folder on the new file server to everyone to see the result.

Just adding to what CSound has said.
Pages and Numbers will change Word and Excel documents when they open and close them.
Sometimes the change is subtle and sometimes not. With the latest versions of Pages and Numbers, more likely not.
So don't think you are going to work with MsOffice files without problems. You will always have something not right and in some cases really annoyingly not right. Like having all the text from Pages appear bold in MsWord, or page breaks in the wrong place or some objects and graphics not appearing in one or the other.
If working between different Operating Systems and MsOffice files, I also recommend LibreOffice. It opens and saves nearly all file formats. Unfortunately not .pages or numbers. Yet. The folks at LibreOffice are busy adding to it all the time, and making sure it works in all Operating systems, Mac, Windows and Linux and they are promising iOS as well soon.

it seems my subscription had expired so I signed up again.. It was still having trouble so I repeated the sign up process again.. Then it worked perfectly.. Unfortunately, I think I just subscribed twice and need to cancel one of them. Ugh. Such a pain when I'm trying to get this project completed. I'll be canceling at least one of the subscriptions in the morning. Adobe is not my favorite company right now. None of this was intuitive. And trying to get help was an absolute waste of an hour.

  • How can I Hide(not Disable) the Save As and Exit options in the File menu of Excel Documents in SharePoint 2013?

    Hi,
I want to hide(not disable) the "Save As" and "Exit" options in the File Menu of Excel Documents in SharePoint 2013.When I make changes in the excelribbon.css file of xlviewer.aspx, all the options under File menu are getting hidden but
I want to hide only these two options while retaining the others.
Kindly suggest me a method to achieve this.
Looking forward to your reply at the earliest.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sanjana

    Hi Sanjana,
To hide the “Save As” and “Exit” options in xlviewer.aspx page in SharePoint, I recommend to use the code below(however it is not recommended):
    <style>
    div.cui-menusection li.cui-menusection-items:nth-child(2)
    display:none !important;
    div#m_excelWebRenderer_ewaCtl_menuJewelSaveAs{
    display:none !important;
    div#m_excelWebRenderer_ewaCtl_msJewelSecondary{
    display:none !important;
    </style>
As “:nth-child()” selector is supported in IE 9 and later versions, please use IE 9 or later versions’ IE browser.

  • Excel Documents "save as" / Shared Documents

If you create a shared folder, MCM create a folder with MCM user as suffix - like "[user]. In Excel is "[" not an allowed character. If you save an Excel Document directly with “save as” in a MCM shared Folder, so appears an error from Excel.
How can I adjust this in MCM?

    Hi,
This seems to be an issue with MS Office.
    See this: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/d2ea4aca-8022-401a-9c45-00a136730078/creating-excel-file-from-windows-start-and-saving-it-under-a-folder-with-name-having-square-?forum=exceldev
Right now the alternative is that you can create the document in the targetted folder directly first and then start editing there.

  • Form Wizard, Excel Sourced Documents, Dozens of Extra Fields

I have a series of PDF documents which I generate on a weekly basis from MS Excel reports.
    It looks something like this:
    Description
    Jan Sales
    Feb Sales
    Mar Sales
    Apr Sales
    May Sales
    Order 1
    Order 2
    Order 3
    Order 4
    Vendor 1
    Widget 1
    2
    5
    5
    4
    Widget 2
    4
    7
    2
    8
    7
    Vendor 2
    Widget A
    2
    9
    3
    8
    2
When I run this through Form Wizard, I get a form field in every blank cell.  I'd really like form fields limited to the Order 1 column.  Is there anything I can do to trick the Form Wizard to limit its attention to this area?  Perhaps by modifying the underlying Excel form before printing to Acrobat?
    Edit:
Maybe I should mention that it's the fact that I have 200 pages/week that motivates me to look for a reduction in the Form Wizard initial field generation.  It takes me a little over 2 minutes a page to delete out the 100+ extra fields per page.  Eliminating the better part of a day's repetitive labor is kind of a big deal.

Here are some ideas you can try. You can delete fields with JavaScript, so you could set up a script that loops through the fields and deletes them based on some criteria, such as the position on the page or the field name that Acrobat automatically generates. You can set up the script so it's activated from a custom toolbar button or menu item, or as part of a batch sequence (custom action). If you'd like specific help with the code, it would help if you could post a sample document that has the fields added.
An alternative that you can use if the layout of the document will remain unchanged is to add the fields using a script, perhaps taking advantage of tempates. So instead of running the Form Wizard to add the fields, you create a script to add the fields exactly where you want and with the field names and any other properties you want.

  • Accessing excel documents fom KM

    Hi all
I have a problem accessing excel documents in Hebrew from the KM.
If the document's name length is more then 23 characters (in Hebrew),I get a "This page cannot be displayed" error.
It happens only if I work with Excel 2002 (XP) version.
Excel 2003 works fine, but I cannot upgrade my ~1500 workstations now.
Last year we had almost the same problem - like this:
    <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?forumID=42&threadID=45589&messageID=459760#459760">https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?forumID=42&threadID=45589&messageID=459760#459760</a>
The problem was solved by Microsoft fix :
    KB Article Number(s): 918692
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Alexander

    Hi Alexander,
you could use the GUID instead of the displayname, it is unique, fixed in length and does not depend on language settings.
I guess you will have to write a custom property handler for that, but maybe this can be done through configuration only ...
That could be a workaround for your problem ...

  • When converting certain Excel documents a user interaction is required to save the document.

I am using a WebService to open an excel document and save it as PDF.  The webService will then return the PDF to my software.  The problem being that some Excel documents have formulas in them that automatically change the document when it is
opened.  When my webservice closes the workbook, a prompt is displayed requiring a user to click save in order for the Excel service to stop and my webService to gather the PDF and return it to my software.  During my testing I never get this
prompt, even if I use one of the "affected" PDF's.  When I run this live we ALWAYS get this prompt.  What am I doing wrong?
I have installed the registry key that is supposed to get rid of the save dialog boxes, didn't help.
I have changed the save settings in MS Excel, didn't help.
I have changed the DCOM settings for the Excel application to different users and interactive user, didn't help.
I have edited the application pool identity to see if that was the reason, didn't help.
I have been all over this to no avail.  Do any of you have any ideas I didn't think of?  Thank you.

What does the registry key you installed ?
If you want to get rid of the save dialog box, you can try to use the VBA code.
    Private Sub Workbook_BeforeClose(Cancel As Boolean)
Me.Close savechanges:=True    "close and save changes, don't ask".
    Me.Close savechanges:=False    "close and don't save changes, don't ask".
    End Sub

I have a windows pc. I want to access my business excel documents. Can I do that on an ipad?
Can I upload them to icloud from a windows pc and then access them on the ipad?

You would have to do this via Purchasing Numbers from the App Store. Have iCloud Setup, and go to icloud.com > Sign In > iWork > Upload the Excel File. As long as the extension is ".doc" or ".docx" the iPad will be able to read it/edit it.

  • I can not access my excel documents why?

I have saved Excel documents on my Mac, however I can no longer open them why?  Word and Powerpoint are working fine.  What do I need to do?

Hi.  Nothing has changed, we have not updated any software  When I try to open the Excel document which is saved I get the microsoft error reporting message wayting that microsoft excel has enocuntered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If I then try and click on Excel itself either from the dock or from the tool bar it will not open, a message comes up saying Excel saved changes to the file before the application qit unexpectedly.  Do you want to open the last saved version of this file?  It make no difference if you click cancel or open.
Therefore I am unable to create a simple spreadsheet as excel just will not open.
Word and Powerpoint I said earlier were fine, however this is only if you open from the tool bar.  From the dock nothing happens.
    Any ideas?
Oh I can in finder quick look at the document and all details are there, I just cant open it.
    Thanks

  • I can't save *new* documents back to SharePoint

I can’t save *new* documents back to SharePoint. We have a SharePoint 2013 development environment, running on Windows Server 2012 and a Windows 7 Client Computer with Office 2010.
Every time I click „new document“, SharePoint opens the corresponding template file in the client application (Word, Excel,…) So far, so good. When i select „Save“, the client application brings up a local save path on the client computer, not the SharePoint
    document library.
I did some research and tried many approaches, but none of them worked.
I installed the Desktop Experience Feature on the Windows Server 2012, added the server address to trusted sites, gave the user farm-administrator rights (to make sure it is no security problem) and switched the authentication mode for the web application.
Does anyone know this problem and found a solution?

    Hi,
For troubleshooting your issue, you can try to add a registry value to your local registry (on a machine with Office Applications installed through which you are accessing SharePoint sites):
Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Multi-String Value.
Type AuthForwardServerList, and then press ENTER.
On the Edit menu, click Modify.
In the Value data box, type the URL of the server that hosts the Web share, and then click OK.
Note You can also type a list of URLs in the Value data box. For more information, see the "Sample URL list" section in this article.
    Exit Registry Editor.
