Save report vi saves all excel workbook pages to HTML

Hello,
I am using the Save Report to File VI to save an Excel workbook, and then to save the open Excel file to HTML. However, it is saving all the pages of the workbook in such a way that the web browser can access all the sheets of the workbook. I only want the active sheet saved. How do I do this?

I'm honestly not sure how to get which page is "active". I imagine there is a property you can find (either via ActiveX, Properties Nodes or some other means) which will tell you an index that is active then you can customize your report around that. Could you attach what you have now and maybe I can look for a way to do it?

Microsoft Excel Workbook data-only, export missing Page Headers

We are currently utilizing 'Page Headers' rather than 'Report Headers' as a means to add header information to each page of the report. We recently upgraded to BI 4.1 sp2 with Crystal Reports 2013. All the export options for 'Microsoft Excel (97-2003)****' function such that when exported, the 'Page Header' we have on Page 1 is re-created at the top of the extract. Subsequent page headers are not created in the 'xls' version.
When we attempt to export the same report using the 'Microsoft Excel Workbook data-only' it does not contain the 'Page Headers'.
For Example:
Microsoft Excel (97-2003) data-only output:
Report Header 1
Page Header 1
Column 1, Column 2
data, data
data, data
Microsoft Excel (97-2003) data-only output:
Report Header 1
Column 1, Column 2
data, data
data, data
We are utilizing the Crystal Reports Java SDK to generate these extracts, and were curious if there is a programmatic way around this issue, or a way to place the 'Page Header' back in on export. A setting in Crystal, an API call, other?

hi Nick,
when you choose the excel data only option, check on Custom for the Excel Format, press the Options button, and there is an option to show Page Headers and Footers.

Dispose Report closes all Excel spreadsheets

With Report generation toolkit, I am creating an excel spreadsheet. I create a "New Report", do stuff and "Dispose Report". When I "Dispose Report", it closes ALL excel spreadsheets that are open, including ones that are not part of the LabVIEW application, with no warning. Is this correct? How do I avoid this annoying behavior?

As Zvezdana mentioned the 1.0 version of the Report Generation Toolkit does work this way. Since that behavior isn't very desirable it has been changed in the 1.1 version of the toolkit which released in March. The new version only closes the report for the particular reference being disposed. You also have the option of not closing the report when you dispose the reference.

Importing Data into MS Project Professional 2013 from Excel workbook, can it be done?

Hi all, I am trying to get data in from several large work plans done in Excel, into MS Project 2013 Pro. I am familiar with the Import Wizard, but in this case, there is nothing to map from the Excel files it seems. Does that mean that I have to edit the
Excel files and make sure there is a column called Name to key from? Or do I do something else so I don't have to cut and paste or retype all of this? Well, as always, thx (and thank the heavens u are here).

I think it would help you if you exported a Microsoft Project 2013 file to an Excel workbook so that you can see exactly WHAT data your own Excel workbook should contain. Please try this:
Open an existing Microsoft Project 2013 file.
Click File > Export > Save Project as File > Microsoft Excel Workbook and then click the Save As button on the Export page.
In the Save As dialog, navigate to the folder where you want to save the Excel workbook file, and then click the Save button.
In the Export Wizard dialog, click the Next button.
On the Data page of the Export Wizard, select the Project Excel Template option, and then click the Finish button.
If you see a warning message about a missing filter, simply click the OK button, as this is a bug that will not affect the exported data.
Now, open the resulting workbook in Microsoft Excel. Pay special attention to the data shown on the Task_Table worksheet. Notice in row 1 how every column has a heading that describes the data. Notice that the column containing the Task
Name information is not called Task Name; it is simply called Name.
What you will need to do is to configure your own Excel workbook to look like what you see in the Excel workbook that you just exported. Then try importing your Excel workbook data using the Import Wizard, and let us know if you have follow up questions.

Well, I followed this procedure and the results are problematic. First, there is always errors on import, and no matter what's selected, the import works but with problems...
Multiple import errors of the same type, clicking Yes, No, Cancel produces the same results:
Then, unpredictable results on import, most of the time it looks like this:
The crossed out text is problematic. I have no idea why it does that, or how to fix. Well, thx for your help!

Refresh Data in an Excel Workbook from another Excel file

I have an Excel file that I need to use as a data source for a report that is generated from another Excel Workbook that I am using PowerPivot and PowerPivot with.
I make the connections and everything works fine, but the schedule to refresh doesn't work. I found the below, and another Excel file isn't listed as a data source that is can automatically refresh from. Doesn't that seem like an obvious miss?
Report data in an Excel workbook can come from many external data sources. You can schedule automatic data refreshes for these external sources:

*       Basic authentication
*       Anonymous authentication

*       ProjectOnline feeds

A workbook accesses external data through an embedded connection string or URL you specify when you import the original data into the workbook. Data refresh reuses the original connection information stored in the workbook.
A workbook can have only one data refresh schedule. Typically, if you create the workbook you define the schedule.

Hi Rajan,
If you open the query using BEX analyser the query will open in excel. By clicking any cell in the displayed report you can open the query designer from "business explorer" menu tools edit query the "query designer" will open.

Unable to save report output in excel format.

Hi all,
I am facing a problem on 10gR2 Application Server, When I try to run a report from portal, Report shows o/p in the excel but when I try to save the O/P by using File -> save as , it shows only 4 types of files like htm, html, txt.
I have used desformat=delimiteddata and minetype=application/excel.
When I run same report using simple url it allows me to save in excel.
Plz suggests some way to save the o/p in excel.

If you have the Financial Report open there are two options:
- in the bottom right hand corner of the report click the link: "Export In Query ready Mode"
(this opens the report so you can use it as an Excel retrieve)
- from the Hyperion menu, select File>Export>Excel
(this exports the headers as objects and the data grid, so you can manipulate in Excel).

Can I programmatically force saving an XLTM template to save as an XLSM file in Excel 2010 without defaulting all Excel file types?

I created an Excel template which includes VB and macros as an EXCEL.XLTM template file (I used a template file to keep users from overwriting the sample template file), but I have noticed that when users save the template, Excel 2010 defaults to saving
the new file as a XLSX file (removing all the macros).
I know you can set Excel 2010 to always save as a certain format, but I really would prefer not forcing all Excel files to be macro enabled for the user
Is there a way to default the Save type to XLSM for this template only? Like some code that I could put in that when the users saves, it saves as a macro enabled XLSM type only for this template file?
My users aren't exactly Excel savvy, so I wanted to make it as simple as possible for them.

In my option, you could achieve this by adding Application.GetSaveAsFilename Method to the workbook BeforeSave event. Some key code like below:

But there is a limitation of this workaround, in this workaround, the save as will only support the macro enabled type, other save as types like "xlsx" will be ignored.

How to use active X controls to read/write protect an excel or word document created by created by Save Report to File VI

Hi all,
I'm trying to creat a word and excel documents using Save Report to File VI. When wiring a password to this last VI, the document created are only protected against writing but not reading. How can I use active X controls to password protect these documents against reading?

There is no predefined functionality available in LabVIEW. So you have to implement this on your own.
It seems to me that you own the Office Report Generation Toolkit. You can use the Excel Get ActiveX References.vi from the Excel Specific >> Advanced palette to get access to the "generic" ActiveX Excel references. Starting from this point, you can use property and invoke nodes to get to the setting you are going to modify.
Please refer to this link for information on Excel password protection. I have not searched for the object giving you access to those settings though....

I'm running a machine with Windows 7, Office 2010, and Acrobat XI. When I save a specific PDF as an Excel workbook, all of the data in the original PDF is sorted correctly in four columns. When the same task is performed on this file on another user's machine, all of the data is sorted into one column. The user has the same versions of Windows, Office, and Acrobat. I've attempted the "Repair installation" option but the problem persists. Any suggestions? Thanks again for helping,

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured out how to get the desired results by using tagging. For anyone who may reference this post in the future, I went to "Customize" in the top right corner of Adobe, then selected "Create new tool set...", looked under "accessiblity and found the "tag" option. Hit ok, tag is added to the toolbar. Then I highlighted the dataset in the PDF that was relevant to the output format, then clicked "tag", saved as spreadsheet. Sorry I can't provide more details on how tagging works or if there's a more elegant solution available, but I'm sure one's out there.

- open iTunes in your computer
- select your phone on the left

- drag your spreadsheet into the box on the right
- press sync
2) Internet access from both device needed

- select iWork
- click on the 'numbers' tab
- drag your spreadsheet into it
- it will automactily load up on all your iOS devices.

Error when trying to save changes to excel workbook in LabVIEW 5.1

After making changes to an existing excel workbook I try to use the workbook invoke close and I receive error "Error 1004 occurred at Exception occured in Microsoft Excel, Close method of Workbook class failed". How can I save the changes to workbook without receiving this error.

Be sure you close all references before closing the workbook, except workbook and application, and check where the error is born wiring the error cluster. Sometimes errors are carried from a earlier step, avoiding correct execution.

I publish a 41mb InDesign newsletter monthly into interactive pdf. It always becomes a file size of 4mb, 10% of original, when I save to pdf. This month my newsletter is 41mb and it drops to 11mb, 25% of original. I have re-sized all pictures, deleted pages separately, have gotten the file size down to 16mb and it drops to 7mb, 45% of original.
I have gone back and saved Feb and March and it saves to 10% of original, as it did before, and I use the same mechanism to save now.
I have gone to Acrobat Pro and optimized down to 8.8mb, but the quality is not acceptable.
What other variable is there that I haven't discovered?

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!
