Saving Flash File

Hi Buddies,
How to save Flash file at runtime so that we can let user
download that modified SWF from the server? Downloading can be
possible via "File References" but how to save a file dynamically?
Please suggest.
Rohit

that would be easiest to do with two different swfs. it can
be easily done with 1 swf, but if you understand how to do it with
2 swfs, you can probably see how to do it with 1 swf.
have 1 swf contain your input textfields. you can save the
data entered by the user (or sender) using php and a server-side
text file.
have 1 swf contain your dynamic textfields. you can read the
data saved on the server-side text file using php and display that
to the user (or card recipient).

  • Saving a flash file from cs3 to cs4 ruins the file!

Last time I used flash for an urgent commission I discovered a very heavy bug, which did cost me half a day of work and nearly the whole commission. What happened:
I saved a flash file originally created with Flash CS4 as CS3 because the Actionscript programmer did not have a newer version. When I reopened the changed file and typed CMD+S it saved the file without warning. This was momentous: when I re-opened the file, only the library contents did show up, the timeline and stage was empty. Trying to publish the movie again resulted in a program crash. Thus I had to rebuilt the whole flashfile from scratch the next day and calm down a very nervous (and important) customer. Since then I always chose "Save as" and change the format to "CS3", and – how about that! – the file stays intact.
So HOW can a software have a glitch like this be on the market? I would suggest to Adobe that the rework the whole code because flash seems to be very poorly coded. I experienced numerous minor bugs in the last years, but this one beats them all. You save a file and ruin it.
If anybody else has experienced this, I would like them to share their experiences. Not just with me – share them with the people responsible for this. Write to Adobe.
    kind regards,
    tomasio

Just save.  It'll open in previous versions.
BUT if you used features that are specific to CS6 (like vector strokes) those may not show up in previous versions.
If you want everything to show, flatten the image and save a copy.
If you want to show the structure of the file - avoid features that are new in CS6 and save as PSD..

    Wow. Okay...
I'll let the real veterans in this forum tackle your issues one after the other. But, I can tell you, all will be well.
My only comment would be re: your computer specs:

To be completely honest, FCPX is a RAM hog. It just is. But, RAM is relatively cheap, and the pay-off is good.
4GB is right on the edge, IMHO. 16G is ideal.
I wish you luck, hang in there, and standby for more help.

  • I can't seem to properly open saved Flash (.swf) files with Shockwave in Firefox.

I have saved .swf flash files on my computer. I can view flash files when part of an internet page, but when I try to open the saved ones on Firefox, it asks me if I want to download them. I have tried to change the settings in the 'options' and 'applications' thing in the 'Tools' part of the menu bar, but while the SWF file(application/x-shockwave-flash) content type is automatically set to use Shockwave in Firefox, I can't find a way to do the same with the SWF file (application/download) content type, which seems to include saved swf files.

Just out of curiosity, try playing the song in a different program . . . maybe Windows Media Player to see if it works. I wonder if it's corrupted....

  • Flash Professional CC crashes when saving, corrupting files

My company upgraded from flash CS5 to Flash Professional CC just recently, and i was hoping for a more stable experience, as Crashes when saving from Flash CS5 happened allmost daily. Seem i was wrong, occasionally when saving Flash CC crashes, and ends up breaking my work files... I ususally manage hundreds of files during a week, so having a stable enviroment is quite important for me. Any suggestions? Other than getting rid of Flash, though this is fast moving up the list...

Yes, I allways have the most recent version.
Guess i just have to work locally again, as i was forced to when using Flash CS5. Its frustrating, as some of the files (non-flash) i produce is  edited by other colleagues on the server. And i need to sync those files back  to my computer, to keep everything up to date... Not to mention i have  to sync the files i produce to two different servers. A project consist of at least 40-80 flash files and each of them accompanied by several files... xml, images, sound, and so on...

  • Help saving .swf files in Flash 8

Okay here is the deal. I downloaded a template for oscommerce
that has a flash header (this flash file is main.swf). I am able to
make the adjustments that are needed in Flash 8 but once I try to
save it as .swf it tells me that I am unable to save it as an older
file. It says that I can try to save as "save as" but everytime I
save as main.swf it tells me the same thing again.
Also is there anything special that needs to be done in my
FTP program to upload flash files correctly?
Thank you for your time guys.
    Mike

Here is the code if it helps.

  • How can I open an old Flash file?

A tech person and I created a show in Flash in 2004 called Black on Black / 13; I'm not sure which version of Flash we used. It was put up in the Gallery of the website of a group I headed called The Lark Ascending, and sometime between then and now it disappeared off that website. I have about half a dozen Flash files of the show, but they will not play in the current Flash player or open in the current version of Flash, both of which I own.
I have the original jpegs and music and intend to recreate this work in another program and post it on Vimeo, but it would be very helpful and time-saving if I could use the original show as a reference as it is a highly complex work, and without the reference, it will take me a VERY long time to re-create it.
Is there any way to get one of those old files to play?  I have older versions of Flash and probably the player from previous Creative Suites?  Should I reinstall them and try them?  Is it a lost cause?
Thanks for whatever, including the awful truth,
    Karla

It sounds important to you, so you should try a few things.
You mention the year 2004; that was when Flash Player 7 was around.  Try downloading Flash Player 7 from the archive page http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html
Make sure to uninstall the current version first with the uninstaller linked on that page.

  • Saving Flash 7 SWF created in Flash 8

I understand from experience that viewing Flash 8 SWF files
on the Flash 7 Player results in text not showing up. The Flash 8
text is obviously superior, but unfortunately, a major contingent
of my viewers are too afraid, too naive, or their systems are too
messed up to upgrade their Flash Players from earlier versions.
Obviously, to solve the problem, I can save the SWF as Flash 7
backward compatible; however, I am more than disappointed with the
results of this solution. The main problems with this approach is
that the text looks week and the bitmap alignment is no longer
perfect when trying to intermingle my flash content with existing
    background content.
Please someone help me with a better solution by providing me
with a list of parameters that need to be in place so that my Flash
7 files created in Flash 8 look more presentable.

    > Peter, as for a list of parameters, I mean precisely
    what options should
    I
    > check off in the Flash 8 export movie dialog box when
    saving Flash 7
    compatible
    > SWF.
There seems to be come confusion here. It's not a matter of
    'checking off'
options, rather of publish settings. In the 'Publish
    Settings' dialogue,
under the 'Flash' tab, 'Version', select 'Flash Player 7'.
    the important
thing is not to use any *features* that depend on Flash
    Player 8 - these
include (but are not limited to!) filters, any of the new
    text rendering
options (custom anti-alias), any of the new Classes (geom,
    filters, display,
    external) etc etc etc.

Again, you are a bit confused I think. Obviously they will be
    different than
if published for FP8 - that wasn't my point. What I said was:
    > > If you are publishing for Flash Player 7, your text
    and bitmaps will
    look
    > > the same as
    > > they would if yo uhad created the content in Flash

So, using Flash 8 to author but publishing for FP7 will look
    the same as
using Flash MX2004 ('Flash 7') to create your content. You
    are saying your
bitmaps shrink "compared to when exported normally in Flash
    8" - I never
    mentioned publishing for Flash 8.
    > Hmmm, the exported Flash 7 text (generated in Flash 8)

Well yes, of course. You said it yourself - you have exported
    for FP7 -
playing it in FP8 won;t magically make it look better! For
    that, you would
    have to *publish* for FP8.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 Crashes When Opening or Saving PNG Files

I'm having an issue where opening or saving PNG files causes my copy of Photoshop CC 2014 to crash.
I've updated to the latest version, restarted my computer and have no plugins installed. I have also re-installed the program from the Creative Cloud application, although I haven't tried a full uninstall/reinstall sequence.
I'm running an x64 version of Windows and have tried both the 64 and 32 bit versions of Photoshop - neither works.
Other file formats don't appear to cause any issue - the problem is specific to PNG files (does Adobe Photoshop depend on any PNG library like LibPNG? Perhaps an older version has been installed by a different application?)
This issue seems to have occured in the past on the Adobe forums, but there is no clear resolution.

Part of the information is missing but your running CC 14.1.2 not CC 2014,  and14.1.2 needs to be updated to 14.2.1. I also can not see the date of you video drivers.  Here is what my CC 2014  and my 14.2.1 looks like

  • How to reveal a .swf server directory behind a host html index file to save a Flash file to HD?

I FIND YOUR FLASH FORMAT EXTREMELY USER-UNFRIENDLY.
I spent two weeks to figure out how to save a complete .swf
    file to my local drive.
Finding 48 files behind a main html doc hosting those .swf's
    took 48 hours.
(Now I can't move my arm anymore due to RSI!)
No application to save a Flash file, seems to be able to do that
    in 1,2,3 convenient steps.
I always get bits and pieces or individual graphics.
I NEVER GET THE ENTIRE MANUAL the way I can browse the Flash
    file in my browser.
I am seriously thinking of never browsing a Flash file again
if there is no solution to download e.g. a manual of my digital
    camera.
I have the right to browse such a file at my convenience either
on or offline! Online it's just impossible due to server
    overload.
Now I only get the desadvantages of the format to deal with
(e.g. tons of spamming advertising) whereas I should be able to
enjoy the benefits. Eventhough I gave the manufacturer the right to
fill up 10 MB on my drive, I never got a file on my PC. And even
when I did, I wouldnt know where to find it...
I hope Adobe would listen to the user more often...
WHY DON'T YOU BUILD SOLUTIONS AS EASY AS A RIGHT MOUSE CLICK
ALLOWING FOR SAVING A FLASH FILE!
That can't be rocket science, is it?
Thank you for paying attention to your customers.

You can add parameters to the flashvars property in the HTML wrapper:

  • My Multiple Saves On A Flash File Gone? [URGENT HELP NEEDED]

    Hey guys,
I am very disappointed with the fact that I've been working on a school project on a Flash file for numerous days, and yesterday, I was close to completetion when I found out that none my saves were updated. Basically, I spent hours working on the project and I saved my Flash file multiple times; however, I just opened my Flash file today and found out that all of the updates that I had made on the file were gone. Is there any way I can still recover the file/updates through cache possible, and what may have gone wrong?
What I have Tried To Solve The Issue:
    - I have done a full scan of the computer but only found the non-updated file.
    - I had dragged the saved file onto my USB the previous day before I turned off the computer, but the Flash file on the USB is the non-updated file as well.
    - Try to find a cache, unsuccessfully.
    - Browsed this forum but found nothing.
    - I even checked my Recycling Bin.
    Other Info:
    - I am using Flash CS3.
    - The folder which contained my Flash file has all of the images that I had edited with PhotoShop CS3, as well as the images that I had downloaded online. It's only the Flash file that is old.
Please help me out on this as soon as possible as it's a school project. My hours worth of time is gone and I really don't want to have to start again while there may be a solution to this out there. Thank you very much.

You best bet is to get your san folks to give you some disk space for a mount point on the last node in the cluster. Once they assign the lun (not raw) have your SAs make it a mounted file system such as /dbbackup.
Run all of your rman backups on your last node on the cluster. The only draw back is, if that node dies, then you will not be able to run backups. but your backups would be safe as they are on the san.
Only way to have a mounted file system on all nodes in your cluser is to have some sort of third party file system cluster ware .. such as veritas or OCFS2 - then all nodes could see it.
I feel the first node in the cluster (the primary node) is the most busy out of the rest .. so thats why the suggestion of running rman on the last node in the cluster.

  • Importing Flash Files

Hello. I'm new to this forum. I tried getting answers on the Adobe Forums with no luck. I'm trying to get my Flash files saved as Quicktime movies so that I can move those to iMovie 8. Basically, I want to be able to put my animated clip into iMovie to go along with the rest of my main video. I've tried exporting my flash file as a quicktime movie file, but the quality is awful. The animation is laggy and I have a lot of static around the images. Could anyone help me, please? I'm also going to post this in the iMovie forum in case this is the wrong area. I have Flash CS4 and iMovie8. Thank you!

Not until you provide us w/which OS version you have before any recommendations can be made.
As far as free ones, check them all out for yourself. Be sure to read the _system requirements._ Some may not work w/your current OS system.

  • Flash files in iWeb - Thanks

While it's been possible to place flash files in iWeb with workarounds in the past it's now easy with the new version. The HTML snippet feature has saved the day, Thanks Apple! I can hardly imagine the net without Flash.
To see an example go here:
    http://web.mac.com/catucker/InsideOutside/Alternatives.html

Like ive said in this topic, i need to know where Altartifact put his files in his iDisk, too.
Ive tried all that i know, location in the Web folder, site folder, "my website" folder... Link with "../", with .//"... xD
theres is my code, any idea ?
    <object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#v ersion=7,0,19,0" width="611" height="511" title="flash_accueil">
    <param name="movie" value="WHEREIS_MY_FILE??" />
    <param name="quality" value="high" />
    <embed src="WHEREIS_MY_FILE??" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="611" height="511"></embed>
    </object>
Maybe there is an error in this... because ive tried to use it with a FTP server, and the ".swf" animation is "not charged"... and its in the main page files folder !
I cant understand... this code was working with iWeb Enhancer... :/

  • Problem with corrupted images in flash file

Hey people, i've been searching around and this is the best place I could find to post th
    is.
I was wondering if there was anyone out there who could help me with some corrupted files.
Apparently its a random error where when saving some images may not save properly, I originally saved the file in CS3 and am now working on it where I only have CS4 and 5 available to me.
The file can open in CS5 but not CS4 for some reason however there are certain scenes containing certain symbols which obviously haven't saved properly and so are missing and "corrupted"
I also copied the original SWFs from testing and the symbols which are corrupted just show up as red shapes in those as well.
I am unable to save the file due to these symbols causing it to crash when saving in any available formats and unable to delete the corrupted files as when I attempt to access them flash crashes as well
I was wondering if there's anyone who would be able to access the file or even anyone willing to attempt to solve the problem as I am on a deadline of a week after christmas and am worried I may not be able to complete it by then with these problems.
Thanks for any help you can give me.
(Also I have no idea how to attach the files if anyone can tell me how it would be great or I could upload them elsewhere and post a link)

Create a URLRequest object with the URL of your image. Pipe
that URLRequest into a new Loader Object. When the Loader Object
finished loading (add an Event.COMPLETE-Listener to the loader for
that), you are free to do whatever you want with that Loader. Maybe
you'll want to draw it in a BitmapData-Object and then go
    on.
