SB Live! 5.1 : pblm with the

I bought a SB Li've!5. with the legal installation CD (the silver one).
The card functioned properly for several years (Win XP). Two weeks ago, appeared a big problem (output signal is very misshaped). After some tries, I decided to uninstall/reinstall the soundcard drivers.
After the software removal, I launch the CD to reinstall the drivers, and it asks "do you want to modify, repair or uninstall ?". I repeat: the software uninstallation is done and the computer restarted. Normally, it cannot modify anything, because when I start my computer this one says "a new material has been detected", etc... so the card is properly plugged, and the driver is not installed. Am I right ? OK. So I think the SETUP.EXE should install the driver and not question about modify or repair... well...
The problem is : whatever I choose "modify" or "repair", the next message is : "SETUP couldn't find the CD", thought I launched the setup from the legal CD (not a copy, not a crack, not found on the web) !!!!
Any reinstallation is possible... However the CD worked fine at least one time, when I installed the card for the first time, several years ago (and I don't remember this problem...). Why doesn't it want to reinstall a second time ?
Help would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Well. I am stupid, but now I am happy .
But in fact, it didn't worked quite as you described...
I said you that I have reinstalled Creative Wave Studio. Before reinstallation of the drivers, I prepared to uninstall WStudio, in order to reinstall drivers and then, reinstall WStudio after. So, I went to "Add/Remove programs" window, uninstalled WStudio with the appropriate link, well ok... and I noticed that in the list remained "Sound Blaster Li've! 5. series" or something like that. So, I clicked in order to uninstall that, too. Uninstall performed, then asked me to reboot. I did. And after the reboot, this option still remained in the Add/Remove programs list! I clicked once more "remove", vrooom vrommm, reboot and... still remained the "SB Li've series" in the Add/Remove programs list!!!
I went angry ! Then I severely decided to take the ax and the shotgun, plus A-bomb, and explored the registry where I ruthlessly removed in the uninstall information a key named "{92EC.....}" (I did not remember its exact name but it was the one who was labelled "Sound Blaster Li've! 5. series" as same as in the Add/Remove programs list).
Then I self-executed the SB CD again and...
IT WORKED !
It didn't asked me "Repair, Modify or Delete" and started to proceed with the right installation process. I could then normally reinstall the drivers and the WStudio. All of this worked fine. With a pulsating heart, I opened an audio file: the sound is correct. Whaouh! It's my lucky day, isn't it's It seems now that all my problem are just a bad memory... I hope! I didn't tested the LINE IN plug but I hope it will be correct too.
Well, the distorted output signal was in fact a driver problem. I am relieved! I was afraid it was a mechanic, physic problem in the card. It is not.
I am still a stupid boy, yes. But I am happy again ! I will instantly make a snapshot of my system and store it in a safe-deposit!!!
I would like to thank you very very very very much. You wonderfull !!! If you come to South of France, email me, I will offer you a drink !

Hi. I have a standard video camera + PCI 1408. I can nicely show the current image, using LL Ring examples. I want a boolean switch so I can switch from watching the live video to the video recorded N seconds ago. My initial hope was to use LL Ring, with
lots of buffers, and copy/extract either latest buffers or a buffer several acquisitions ago. However, this seems to add no delay at all. Suggestions please? Thanks Patrick

What I start with is the sequence acquisition. I change it from one time to continuous, and simplify it a little bit.
I have included an example that shows how to set up a buffer and display delayed video.
One thing you have to do is open MAX and change the maximum number of buffers for IMAQ to something larger than 50. I usually select around 2000 buffers so that I never run out.

Issues with device iPad apparently being registered to us store (now living in Belgium) when trying to upgrade apps which have fixes pending. How do I get these fixes Some apps I have bought while living in us and some while living in euorope (uk and Belgium)

I've seen this issue posted before and not seen a solution. When you change store country it breaks all ties to the previous store.

New iphone 4s speaker keeps cutting out on calls and have to put it on external speaker, this is happening to others I have called today with the same phone. Is there a fix?

My wife has a new 4s and quite often her phone speaker cuts out during a call and she has to put it on speakerphone. Telus tech support tells me this is a known issue yet there doesn't seem to be an update to the phone available in itunes yet. So far today we have talked to two other people who live in our area with the same phone and same issue. One went so far as to buy a jawbone for $150 to work around it not knowing it was a software issue. Is this a software fix or do we need to do a hardware swap? Is there a fix out or on the way?

My gf was having the same issues and also with a big echo every time I called her either from my 4S or even fron a land line as per other comments here. They told he to take it into the Apple store and they reset the software and now it's working fine.....so far.
Now today my bluetooth earpiece has decided to stop working for some unknown reason and then the last person that called me said my phone keep cutting out. I don't know whether that was because I had to turn off my bluetooth to answer the phone or what.
I suspect Apple will be sending out an update to fix some of these reported issues but in the meantime the local Apple store seems to be the only option. Just hoping I don't have to take that option as that would require a huge inconvenience for me as neither of the two stores in the Vanvouver area are remotely close to me.

Want to invoke a UI map with the help of Service script

I am creating UI for MWM MCP- handheld devices and I want to create HTML UI , let's say "First" with button "next" ,which onclicking invokes or opens another UI say "Child". Now when I close this "Child UI", again the "First " UI must open or the control should be passed to it.
I could have done this with BPA script invokeMap but handleld devices don't support BPA scipts and invokeMap can be used only with BPA scripts.
So I thought of using Service srcipt but my concern is how to invoke UI using service script?

Hi everyone,
I found the solution.
Live can be simple, with the smart printers of today.
You have just to create the card in landscape mode en put the paper in porttrait mode into the printer.
The HP Officejet 6500A Plus is so smart that he rotate the print direction so the text is printed correctly on the business card.
So don't do it as I did before, creating in portrait, it won't work that way.
Anyway, this solution works fine for me, hopefully it helps many other users.

I'll just live with the terrible battery life on my iPhone 5....

IMHO, each new iPhone has worse battery life than the one before. I've come to expect this. They claim the battery is better, but in real life use, this is simply not the case. I've given up trying to figure it out, I'll bring it into the apple store tomorrow, maybe they'll even swap out the phone for me, but I doubt it will make a difference. The battery is plain awful, but I'm never far away from a charger, whether it's in my car or office. I've grown used to it at this point. Nor am I going to do one of the 10,000 suggestions I keep seeing on here and other forums. Restore as new? No thanks, it's just the way I want it, I don't want to spend 6 hours loading everything again. Turn off location services and apps? What's the point of offering a feature if you can't just leave it on and use it? I have everything (well, almost everything) on. Wifi, brightness all the way up, location services, it's all on. Why? I like using them. That's why I bought the phone in the first place!
So, the bottom line is: I'll live with it. I'll live with having to charge it a few times a day, I'll live with the fact that it'll never be perfect. I will go to the genius bar just for the heck of it, there are issues with iCloud not backing up, and wifi not as strong as the 4S, and sometimes the usage and standby times are identical, so perhaps mine is defective, but I doubt it'll make much difference. Sure, 6.1, or 6.0.1 will be released soon to address these issues, as I'm convinced this is mostly a software issue, but at this point I'm done trying to figure this out.

Speifically:
Battery life seems short

Try turning iPhone off and then on again.
Connect iPhone to iTunes and restore iPhone.
If the screen shows a low-battery image, the battery is low on power and needs to charge for up to ten minutes before you can use it.
When charging iPhone, make sure to leave it charging until it is fully charged. You'll know the battery is fully charged when the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen looks like this .
Note: When charging using a computer, don't connect iPhone to a keyboard. Also, the computer must be turned on and not in sleep or standby mode. If iPhone is connected to a computer that's not turned on or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPhone battery may drain.

How to connect to Xbox Live with the Actiontek GT704-WGB wireless router

If the title got you here, then you are probably a Verizon DSL customer who is trying to connect your Xbox to Xbox Live with the Actiontek GT704-WGB wireless router and are getting nothing but errors saying, "your NAT is set too high", or, "Your MTU setting is too low", etc. Well, after many calls to Xbox support, Actiontek support, and Verizon support, I finally came up with the solution myself.
All that is needed is a little techie know-how about router settings and you'll do just fine! However, if you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself (and it is really really easy to do!) then you can call Verizon support and have a tech support rep remotely conntect to your PC and make the changes for you: however, you have to speak with someone in advanced tech support and to do that you have to agree to a 1 year support contract to the tune of $14.95 per month in order for them to do it! Scam??? You be the judge!
So, here are the steps to take to get it working and by the way, YOU CAN NOT GET THE XBOX TO CONNECT TO THIS ROUTER WIRELESSLY!! YOU MUST CONNECT YOUR XBOX TO THE ROUTER WITH AN ETHERNET CABLE IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK!!! If you don't heed this warning, you will unfortunatly go through all the steps below, only to find that you get the same errors but, ethernet is faster than wireless so it's better!....right?.....right? (hears crickets chirping)....right? Oh well, I tried! Also, you must have your Xbox on in order to change the router settings (which you'll see why later) Anyway, here's the steps:
1) On your PC, open a browser window and type in the address bar: 192.168.1.1 and press enter.
2) You will then see the interface on which you will make changes to the router's settings. If at any time you are prompted for a username and password (which should happen right after you press enter) the defaults are: username: admin password: password. If you have changed these, enter what you changed them to.
3)Click on the icon on the top labelled "Advanced Setup"
4)In the left section, click "WAN IP Address"
5)At the warning screen, click "yes"
6)Scroll down until you see "MTU setting" and enter 1370. NOTElease don't be tempted to either enter 1500 or leaving it at 1500 (which is the default) because you might know that 1500 is the maximum at which this can be set which is TOO HIGH AND WILL NOT WORK! Trust me and enter 1370 and then click on "apply"
7)Click on the top icon labelled "Security"
8)In the left column, click on "applications". This is where we are going to open the 3 ports that Xbox Live uses to communicate with your Xbox.
9)In the drop down box labelled "PC Name" select "Xbox 360". This is why you had to have your console on and connected cuz if you didn't, it would not show up on the drop down list!
10)Under "category" click on the bubble next to "user"
11)Click on "New" which is one of the blue buttons near the bottom.
12)As for the rule name, I entered "Xbox" but you can put whatever you want but I'd use that so you know it's the ports you opened for the console.
13)For protocol, select TCP. (Yes you will also open the same ports for UDP but for some reason if you select TCP.UDP instead of doing them seperatly it doesn't work.....I dunno why!?
14)For all 3 "Port start", "Port End", and "Port Map Start" put the # 80.
15)Click "apply"
16)Now, select UDP and put the same port # 80 and again click "apply"
17)Repeat steps 13 through 16 except with the numbers 3074 and 53, clicking apply after each one. What you should have now on the bottom are a list of all the ports you opened, one TCP and one UDP for each number totalling 6 entries.
18)Click "back" to return to the Applications screen.
19)If you have to, select Xbox 360 for PC name, and click the bubble next to "user" and you'll now see the entry called "Xbox" or whatever you called it.
20)Click that entry to highlight it and then click the blue "add" button to the left and then click "apply" at the bottom.
21)Close the browser screen and turn off your PC and Xbox and any other hardware connected to the router.
22)Turn the router off and unplug it and wait about 5 minutes. It can take this long for any residual current in the router to dissapate and for the NAT table to clear itself.
23)Turn on the router and wait for the internet light to come on green meaning the router has booted and has an internet connection.
24)Turn on the Xbox AND ONLY THE XBOX!
25)There is no need to go into network setting as when the Xbox is connected by ethernet, it automatically configures and connects intself. You can, however go into network settings and perform a connection test but this to is not necessary.
You now should be able to connect to Xbox Live! If not, you've done something wrong and must either go through all the steps again or let Verizon do it for you (for a fee that is).

I followed jtktlw's instructions to the letter. Problem was I had already enabled UPnP before doing so. Afterward I disabled UPnP and rebooted....no change. I reset the MTU to 1500...boom, it works. Seems for me all I needed was to open the right ports to get it to work.

I have some suggestion one leave it as is and use a blending mode of multiply to give it a color background like this
leave it as is make it a grayscale tiff import int Illustrator and color it it in Illustrator like this
Or trace over it with the brush tool aand then give it a color ground.
Or do the original over and do a cleaner job with no tone or a minimum of tone. Then Live trace.

Stop with the silly and pointless fonts.
A simple search of the forums for the actual error would have revealed the resolution.
Temporarily disable all security software on the computer.
