I have some configuration issues somewhere and haven't been able to track down the culprit. I get the
    Server Error in '/owa' Application
runtime error after I log into the remote website and click on email. Activesync is working fine, email though a client works fine. If I just go straight to remote.landisoffice.com/owa I am prompted for credentials, when I enter them, I get a webpage cannot
be found error in IE. I get the same result when I try to browse from the exchange server. are there iis logs that might help me track down the cause? I've found several threads on this error, but none seem to be the same issue. I am running rollup 7 for sp3
    already.
I've also noticed that if I go to http://remote.landisoffice.com/owa I get the page not found, but if I go to https://remote.landisoffice.com/owa I get the above mentioned error page.

    Hi Rodge,
    Please use
SBS BPA and Exchange BPA, then check if find some relevant issues.
    Meanwhile, please run
Test-OwaConnectivity |FL command in the EMS. Any find?
    Please also navigate to:
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET File and check if find owa directory. If find, please change it to owa.old, then restart IIS and monitor the result.

  • Macbook Pro 10.7 Outlook 2011 Exchange 2010 sync

Macbook Pro 10.7 Outlook 2011 Exchange 2010 sync
    Asked by: tppltd
I have a customer that uses our hosted solution Server 2008 Exchange 2010 for email access and web dav file share. They have 8 Macbooks connected to the system and they all use Outlook 2011. One user has an issue where he's reading and deleting emails within Outlook on his mac but it isnt updating Exchange which in turn means his iphone isnt clearing down the read and deleted emails. If i log on to the owa mailbox i can see that the emails havent been read or deleted. We have this issue for one user with the newest MacBook. It first occurred 4 months ago and i ended up removing the account and resyncing the whole lot which took a few hours due to the size of the mailbox.  I've right clicked the folders and told it to resync but it remains the same. Does anyone have any help they can provide please? thanks
The user doesnt want to rebuild the outlook account.  Am i missing somthing obvious

I suggest you post your question on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac software as it's their stuff you have questions about:

When all our users upgraded from iOS 7 to iOS 8 on their iPhones, they couldn't sync with our SBS 2011 Standard Exchange server anymore. Worked fine before upgrade.
SBS 2011 has done all its Windows Updates.
vpn-connection connects and works fine, but Exchange 2010 won't answer.

    Hi Delbekk,
Would you please let me confirm whether it was Exchange Server SP3 on the SBS 2011? Did you install necessary
Update Rollups for the Exchange Server?
In addition, please open Event Viewer and check if relevant events were logged in Application log on the Exchange

Please also check if error message was logged in the Exchange ActiveSync log.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.

    Hi,
Here are some suggestions, please try these to check result.
Please check to see if you are using a 3rd party disk defragmenter. If you are using this type of software, stop all the 3rd party defragmentation services temporarily.
Please check to see if the CatalogData folder is being scanned by file-level antivirus OR on-demand antivirus. If it is, reconfigure both file-level and on-demand antivirus, so it is not scanning the CatalogData folder.
Please turn up logging to expert for MSExchange Search Indexer\Configuration and MSExchange Search Indexer\General.
Please rebuild search catalog and check if event 110 is logged in the application log. Event 110 means the full crawl is completed successfully.

  • SBS 2011; Exchange ActiveSync problems in the middle of a migration

    Hi
We're in the middle of a migration from SBS 2003 to SBS 2011 and are stuck in the lengthy process of moving users' mailboxes.
At this point, I have about 20 percent of the users' email on the SBS 2011 box, and the rest still on the SBS 2003 box.
Right now I have to quickly deal with an issue that's cropped up with Exchange ActiveSync:
I ran the Connectivity Analyzer for a user (this one's box had been migrated) and got the error below. By the looks of the error, I don't think it matters where the mailbox happens to reside ...
The SBS 2011 box has been set up using a migration install and the procedures listed in the MS migration docs.
At the rate we're going, it's still going to take a while to migrate these mailboxes. (The fact that they began tonight was actually an accident.) If mobile users can't get their mail, I'm going to have a big mess on my hands ...
What do I need to do to get this running properly for all users?
    Thanks
    CL

    Hi --
Neither of the Exchange servers is publicly listed as the mail handler for this domain. Mail is preprocessed by a cloud spam filtering service before coming down. So I expect no changes in MX records -- not even a change in the spam filter's delivery IP
address, since that points to my firewall. I'll forward SMTP traffic to the new server when the time comes.
I was told by MS that moving the mailboxes would not disrupt anything as long as both SBS boxes were up and running. And despite what the Connectivity Analyzer showed, people in this office have been receiving email on their mobile phones all day. I've had
a few sporadic reports of people supposedly not getting email on their smartphones, but I can't see how anything I did (basically just move mailboxes at this point) could allow some people's phones to get mail while others' can't, when everyone was getting
    mail yesterday.
I also have an odd report from someone who claims that his mobile phone is processing email just fine, but his MacBook running Entourage suddenly can't connect.
Oh well ... The day is over (at least for the workers). Hopefully by the time the workers return on Monday, I'll be back to having just one SBS box on the network.
The mailboxes are being moved A LOT faster than any of the documents I read warned me they would. One document said that a 75 GB database could take close to 48 hours to transfer. And this server's Exchange database was 67 GB ... But last night's
"accident" (I thought I was only prepping a new database when in fact the machine was actively moving email into it) resulted in about 40% of the mailboxes being completely moved by 8 a.m.. And since 5 p.m., when I restarted the move requests,
the machine has completed the moves of about 20% more mailboxes. So I expect this part to be over probably by early morning. (The ones that remain are the really big ones -- still, after I spent a week doing mailbox housekeeping.)
I was also warned about the lengthy conversion requirements for the public folders. I transferred those last weekend. The whole process was over with in less than four hours. Go figure ...
(The public folder transfer did have an annoying side effect -- I kept receiving warning after warning via email from the SBS 2003 box about a high number of items in Exchange's send queues ...)
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2010 "event id 403/401 The physical consistency check" Backups does not work...Critical!!

    Hi,
    At this moment our backups does not work. We have two error on the event viewer;
    Exchange 2010 sp3 version 14.03.0158.001
We have only one server Exchange 2010 with two databases for users...
    Event id 401;
Instance 1: The physical consistency check has completed, but one or more errors were detected. The consistency check has terminated with error code of -106 (0xffffff96).
    Event id 403;
Instance 1: The physical consistency check successfully validated 629126 out of 1110272 pages of database '\\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy33\exchangedb\global\global.edb'. Because some database pages were either not validated or failed validation,
the consistency check has been considered unsuccessful.

    Hi Javier,
From your error description, I recommend you do the following steps for troubleshooting:
    1. Please run CHKDSK and restart server.
    2. Run a Database level Mailbox repair request.

  • Exchange 2010 Mailboxes - Can't search delegate's subfolders without full access permission?

Has anyone run into this situation?  Might be straightforward but I'm not running into a solution..
I have two users on an Exchange 2010 server, accessing through Outlook 2010.  One is a delegate of the other's mailbox, and has owner permissions to see all the mail, subfolders, send on their behalf, etc...but when they go to search for an email
(control-shift-F, then click on browse, find a folder that has subfolders...and select it), they don't have access to "include subfolders".  It's grayed out.
If I go to the main mailbox and grant full mailbox permissions to the other user, they CAN search and "include subfolders" isn't grayed out, all works properly...but obviously is a bit overkill permission-wise.
...question is, what permission would be allowing a delegate to send on behalf, delete, read, list, etc. another person's email, but not letting the search be more than one folder level deep?
    Thanks in advanace
    Pete

    Hi,
First please try to tick “Enable indexing of online delegate mailboxes”
     via the steps below:
    1.Please run gpedit.msc from a command prompt.
    2. Expand Computer Configuration ->Administrator templates->windows components->click “Search”
    3. Double Click on “Enable indexing of online delegate mailboxes” option
    4. Select “Enabled” and click “ok” to close “Local Group Policy Editor”
    5. After that please run “gpupdate /force”
    6. Restart Microsoft Outlook
Also please add the following registry key to the user computer to enable index in delegate mailboxes.
    Key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\policies\microsoft\windows\windows search
    DWORD: EnableIndexingDelegateMailboxes
    Value: 1
Note: Indexing the contents of delegate mailbox folder. Using this method we can search through the delegate mailbox folders but we have to specify the folder in which one wants to search an
    Outlook items.
After that, please rebuild the indexing with

    Hi,
Please firstly confirm if the Autodiscover service, OAB service, Free/Busy information, OOF feature, OWA and ECP can work well for Exchange users or not.
If there are some issues when using these services or features for client users, please do the following points in IIS manager:
    1. Go to control panel and checked if there are any third party application or message logging application.
    2. Please recycle Autodiscover, MSExchangeServicesAppPool.
    3. Try to install the below hotfixes:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2801728
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2637518
If Autodiscover, EWS and other features are working fine but we still get above error messages reported for the Autodiscover, EWS PID's, please make sure that SystemLogging is turned OFF in Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant tool (EXTRA) on the
    Exchange servers:
    1. Launch Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant tool by clicking Start > run > type EXTRA > Select a task > Trace control > Set manual trace tags.
    2. Under Components to Trace, uncheck SystemLogging.
    3. Click Start tracing > Stop the tracing once the tracing has started.
(Please note: Even if we are not running EXTRA but still enabling the SystemLogging component will turn on MessageLogging)
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Exchange 2010 cross mailbox database search

    Hi there,
I have a customer who has an interesting scenario. They have an exchange 2010 server with 3 mailbox databases. They want to do a search for a text string across all databases which is reasonably straight forward but they also want to take that search back
in time and do a search across the databases as they were at points in time in the past (1 year and 2 years ago). They have backups to recover and we are thinking that we can recover the databases at the points in time required but we're unsure whether the
    search works across recovered databases.
Does anyone have any thoughts on this or advise on how this might be achieved?
    Thanks,
    Rich

Assuming you're aware of the concepts surrounding Microsoft's recommendation to use Exchange Native Data Protection, and you're needing to search beyond what is currently protected.  Otherwise, just use that.
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876874(v=exchg.150).aspx#ENDP
So here's the issue with your request:  Exchange Search uses the indexes, which would either need to be restored or re-built after a restore.  so you'd need to do your search, and repeatedly mount restored databases, probably in an isolated environment
since i'd assume you'll want to reattach restored mailboxes to existing users, ensuring the index is in good shape and re-do your search.  Sounds like a huge PITA.  Does your backup software offer the functionality you're looking for?  Microsoft's
DPM software only offers per-mailbox restores, but perhaps you've got something more sophisticated.
This is all complicated, which is why Microsoft recommends to use NDP.

  • Exchange 2010 and iphone calendar sync issues

    Hey,
I know this question has been asked plenty of times before and just need a straight resolution. We have just migrated our environment to Exchange 2010 and the major issue is that when an event is created in Outlook 2011 it is not always showing up on their iphone and also vis versa. Is their a resolution to this problem so I can implement it in an emergency change. Thank you for all your help!

Here let me explain the scenario again any user who logs in to exchange from outlook working fine password not expired and he has iphone active sync working no issues , now while all devices are working when he starts his ipad after a week or so when he
opens his email on ipad it prompts the password on ipad and same time on iPhone , he does not want to enter the password and wants a technical justification , I told the user something to do with Exchange 2010 sp2 and ios 7 ,but that is invalid justification
. if you have any other valid justification please let me know. or a solution to this issue. user wants to login without any password prompt while the password is saved in device and not expired , is there any feature in Exchange 2010 sp2 that would recognize
how many days device has not logged it and would force to enter the password.

  • Microsoft Exchange 2010 / Office Pro 2013 - Contact Issues

    Good Morning Everyone.
We are running MS Exchange 2010 and have recently upgraded all our clients to MS Office 2013 Pro from Office 2007.
We've had problems with people being able to access previously accessible share folders etc. but we've managed to resolve them. What we are having problems with are peoples personal contacts....
Within Outlook If we click "New Email", then we click "To", choose address book and select "Contacts" (Personal contacts) we receive the error:
"The Address list cannot be displayed. The contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from
the outlook address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help"
The unusual thing is, if we go to the people tabs at the bottom (Mail, Calender, People etc") Then we can access the address book without issue?
Any help would be appreciated, this problem is on every single client...
    Regards
    Steve Skingle

    Hi,
Please make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book in Outlook. We can check this by right-clicking on the personal contact folder, select
Properties, then Outlook Address Book tab.
Check if the “Show this folder as an email Address Book” option is ticked. If not, tick it and restart Outlook to check the result.
Please let me know the result.

  • SBS 11 - Exchange 2010 and SSL certificates - Event ID 12014

I've recently upgraded my Exchange '10 to SP3 on our SBS11 server and I've noticed an event ID 12014:
Microsoft Exchange could not find a certificate that contains the domain name
mail.mydomain.com in the personal store on the local computer. Therefore, it is unable to support the STARTTLS SMTP verb for the connector Windows SBS Internet Send
SERVERNAME with a FQDN parameter of mail.mydomain.com. If the connector's FQDN is not specified, the computer's FQDN is used. Verify the connector configuration and the installed certificates to make sure that there is a certificate
with a domain name for that FQDN. If this certificate exists, run Enable-ExchangeCertificate -Services SMTP to make sure that the Microsoft Exchange Transport service has access to the certificate key.
I currently have a third-party cert installed on this server with SMTP, POP, IMAP, and IIS services attached to it. The cert is for
    remote.mydomain.com
I do not have a cert installed (self-signed or otherwise) for mail.mydomain.com
My send connector HELO/ELHO is mail.mydomain.com
My receive connector  HELO/ELHO is SERVERNAME.mydomain.local
My MX record at NS is pointing to mail.mydomain.com
My question is should I change both my send and receive connectors to
    remote.mydomain.com?
Would I then change my MX record with NS to point to
remote.mydomain.com? Any potential errors with doing this?
Should I buy another third-party cert for mail.mydomain.com and install that cert for mail services? (Although it seems SBS hates using more than one third-party cert).
What's my best option here and what is best practice?
    Thanks in advance!

I'm using SBS 2008 but it should be the same

  • URGENT: SBS 2011 Exchange log files filling up drive in minutes!

I need some help with ideas as to why Exchange is generating hundreds of log files every minute.
The server had 0MB free on the C: drive, and come to find out, there were over 119,000 log files in the Exchange server folder (dated within the last 7 days).  These files are named like E00001D046C.log.  Oddly, the Exchange database store
is not growing in size as you'd expect.  Frantically searching for a way to free up space, I turned on circular logging and remounted the store (after freeing up enough space for it to mount!).  Almost instantly, the 119,000+ log files disappeared,
but now there are about 40 or so that are constantly being created/written/deleted, over and over and over.
This is a small 5 person office with a 4GB database store.  The 119,000 log files were taking up over 121GB.  It's nice to have that space back, but something is in a loop, constantly creating log files as fast as the system can write them.
I checked the queues...nothing.  Where else can I look to see what might be causing this?
    Thanks for the help.
ps.  Windows server backup failed about the time this problem started, stating the backup drive is out of space.  It's a 2TB drive, backing up 120GB of data.  Isn't it supposed to delete old backups to make room for new?
