Scale Flash Movie Down in IFRAME?

Hello! Is there a way to scale a flash movie down in size (I don't have the flash assets) when accessing the movie via an iframe?
NOTE: The flash movie must be displayed in an iframe. Is there any way to scale it to a specific size? I am using the following code (with generic URL posted here).
<div align="center">
  <div id="contentbanner" style="height:90px; padding-top:0px;">
            <IFRAME style="margin-bottom:6px;" SRC="http://ad.domainname.com/adi/N582/B3910244;sz=728x90;ord=[timestamp]?" WIDTH=728 HEIGHT=90 MARGINWIDTH=0 MARGINHEIGHT=0 HSPACE=0 VSPACE=0 FRAMEBORDER=0 SCROLLING=no BORDERCOLOR='#000000'>
            <SCRIPT language='JavaScript1.1' SRC="http://ad.domainname.com/adj/N582/B3910244;abr=!ie;sz=728x90;ord=[timestamp]?">
            </SCRIPT>
            <NOSCRIPT>
            <A HREF="http://ad.domainname.net/jump/N582/B3910244;abr=!ie4;abr=!ie5;sz=728x90;ord=[timestamp]?">

            </NOSCRIPT>
            </IFRAME>
  </div>
</div>
Thanks for your help.

You might try changing the size of ad  (728x90)  to whatever is required.

  • Want Flash movie to scale with table cell. NOT WORKING!

    Greetings;
    I have authored a Flash movie and it is working fine. When I
    use the html page output by Flash it scales fine but when I cut and
    paste this code into a table cell the movie will not scale (in
    Firefox) and not showup at all in IE 7.
    Help appreciated. Here is the html page output by Flash:
    http://www.howardbakerphotography.com/gallery/bakerGallery.html
    (Scaling fine)
    Here is the content placed inside a simple table cell:
    http://www.howardbakerphotography.com/gallery/index3.php
    (Only shows up small not scaling)
    Help appreciated.
    Rip

    Found the solution myself! It appears the problem was in the
    document type I was declaring:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0
    Transitional//EN" "
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="
    http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    *The above was preventing my Flash from scaling when placed
    in a table cell. When I changed it to:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
    Transitional//EN" >
    It worked fine.
    I'd be curious to know a little more about this problem if
    anyone else has some insight ...
    Is this document type I've gone to now an older one and going
    to eventually go away?

  • CS4 Mac - File Dialog Moves Flash Window Down

    I have Flash CS4 10.0.1.545 Mac with OS X 10.5.6:
    I have the standard Workspace and when I select Import to import an image, the open file dialog in OS X slides down from the top of the stage and the entire Flash window that is holding my timeline and stage moves down about 100 pixels. I then import, then I click the top of the window to move it back up and it snaps back instantly as soon as I click on it before I drag it up.
    Anyone else getting this on the Mac?

    The only way to avoid this is to resize the dialog so that it's so short it doesn't go down past the Dock. Since this dialog spawns at the top of the stage, putting the timeline at the bottom instead of the top helps.

  • Automatic scale of Flash movie to fit different screen/browser sizes

    Hi guys,
    I am a mid level Flash user. I have a online portfolio site which I have had running for around 4 years.
    The site at the moment is in its 4th incarnation as I keep growing tired of the layout and design and keep striving to improve it visually. The previous designs have always been at the standard 800x600px or slightly bigger. So when viewed on the majority of different screen sizes and browsers the site was always fully visible at 100%.
    For the latest redesign I've opted for a much larger site size of 1024x768px. This is obviously alot clearer for the user and looks great when viewed on a 19" monitor and above. I for example have a 27" iMac so the site in my opinion looks great.
    The problem I have is when the site is viewed on a smaller screen 17" and below, laptops etc. Due to the size of my Flash site if I view it on a laptop screen the side and bottom scroll bars obviously appear on the browser. I want to know if there is anyway that I can publish the Flash site so that whenever the site is viewed on whatever sized screen or browser it is always seen at 100% without scrollbars.
    I have played about with the publish settings but can't seem to find a way to do this. I have also downloaded SWFFit (Flash Fit) but i'm not sure whether this will do the trick?
    My site can be viewed at:
    www.nineteeneightyone.co.uk
    Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

    I was a little confused when you mentioned wanting to "scale" the site and then you mentioned that "the site was always fully visible at 100%".
    Now I understand that when you say 100%, you simply meant that all of the site was visible at the same time... no scrolling needed.
    "whenever the site is viewed on whatever sized screen or browser it is always seen at 100% without scrollbars".
    By this I assume you mean that the site is fully visible? not that you want to view the site at !00%... correct?
    Typically when discussing Flash scaling, 100% mean 100% of the browser window, and has nothing to do with how much of the site is visible inside that window.
    When looking at Flash scaling, there are a number of things to consider, width, height, aspect ratio, and the use/no use of scrollbars.
    Using a size of 1024 X 768 is a good example of a size that will require scrollbars or downscaling in order to display in a Web browser on a  1024 X 768 monitor. A 1024 X 768 will only display about 1000px or less in width and of course with the Web browser address bars etc, a height of 600 or so would be more realistic. So by default, the size requires both horizontal and vert scroll bars when viewed on a 1024 X 768 monitor.
    So what would be required to display the entire site without scrollbars? Well in this case, since only 600 px in height are available, the height has to be downscaled about 78% of the original height... so to maintain the same aspect ratio (the ratio of width to height), then the width was also be downscaled to about 78% or original or about 800 px wide... OK that's fine, but because the monitor is about 1000px wide, there will now be about 100 px unused space on the right and the left.
    By default, Flash likes to maintain that aspect ratio, so that round things stay round and square things stay square. It just means that as you increase or decrease width or height, the corresponding dimension will also change.. decrease height.. and width decreases also.
    Here is an old post that illustrates Flash scaling and how aspect ratio can be maintained or distorted:
    Here are examples of different scaling parameters available in the Publish settings. You can also add these parameters directly in the html (<param name="scale" value="noscale"). All the examples replace the actual Flash dimensions with 100% for both width and height (width="100%" height="100%"). These examples use the old <object> and <embed> to illustrate the different ways to scale Flash. Once you understand how it works I’d recommend that you use swfobject to place the Flash in your final project.
    View the source code for each page to see the full code.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/exact_fit.html
    "exactFit" scales the file to fit exactly within the confines of the screen, irregardless if the movie becomes consequently distorted. The original aspect ratio is not maintained. So round things are not round and squares are not square.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/noScale.html
    "noScale" is the default setting, and causes the movie to be displayed at the originally designed dimensions.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/no_border.html
    "noBorder" causes the movie to be scaled to what ever dimensions are needed to have no border surrounding the movie within the player, which consequently could result in some of the movie being cut off from view. In other words, the movie will maintain the original aspect ratio and will fill the screen completely. But if the movie has to be streched wider to fill both sides of the screen, it will also stretch taller, but then some of the top and the bottom of the movie may be cut off from view.
    http://www.cidigitalmedia.com/tutorials/scale/show_all.html
    "showAll" scales the movie to the size of the screen (which could cause pixelation if the file contains raster information), the difference between showAll and exactFit is that showAll mantains initial movie size proportions. Because it maintains the original aspect ratio, there can be space to the sides or the top and bottom. But everything always shows and they are not distorted. But notice the photo in the center, it becomes pixilated at larger screen resolutions.
    The trickiest part of trying to go full screen is that it’s difficult to make the Flash wider without making it taller also, that is, to maintain the correct proportions or aspect ratio of everything on the stage. These methods are just simple scaling accomplished with html. There are also methods to dynamically scale the stage and it’s elements using Actionscript… but that’s a much more complex undertaking.

  • AP with Flash movie displays up or down 8 pixels

    I've finally got my website up, with a flash movie (swf) of a
    slideshow. It looks incorrect in DW (CS4), the movie is too low,
    but displays correctly in Firefox and Safari (mac) - except in
    Explorer (on a pc), where it displays too low: exactly like it
    shows in DW. The background is a PS work, including a 'frame' to
    play the movie within. Problem...
    http://cinzophoto.com
    Thanks for any help. I can't find anything in the code doing
    this.
    Laurence

    OK,  and Thanks again
    //add the listener for each button
    nav_button[i].addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, menuClick);
         addChild(nav_button[i]);
    //menuClick Code
    function menuClick(e:MouseEvent):void
    e.target.removeEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, menuClick);
    this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, resetButton);  //removes children from the navGroup movie clip
    this.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, menuOut, false, 0, true); //retracts the drop down list
    setButtonIndex(e.target.name);
    addLinks(e.target.name);  // adds drop down links to the navGroup movie clip
    TweenLite.to(navGroup, .4, {y:navGroup.height,onComplete:showMe()});  //shows the drop down link list movie clips
    //relate the above line to the target name
    lastTarget = e.target.name;
    Note: the displacement happens whenever I add a child to the stage, either the navGroup or the mask clip (dmask). The mask clip
    is a rectangle with a fill.

  • Spry Drop down menu disappearing behind flash mov

    Hi Can someone help? I have a spry drop down menu that appears fine in IE but in firefox it disappears behind my flash movie! it appears fine if there is just a image. Any ideas?

    This is the wrong part of the forum for this type of problem, and it may be better if you post this type of question (or most questions), to the dreamweaver section.
    That said check your position: absolute: statments in your css, as this is often the cause.

  • Is there a better way to position a flash movie than ap div?

    I'm creating a new website(not yet active) and have a great flash movie for the home page.  I've place it in an ap div and of course it moves to a different position in different browsers. • Problem: Flash movie plays on desktop, but not on website

    Hi, I'm new to Flash but have successfully created a Flash Movie that works using Firefox and Safari on my (iMac) desktop, but not after I upload to my website.
    I started with an flv video, imported it into an fla document along with a playback skin then published it creating an html file and two swf files. I've checked the html file, and it looks fine. The flv file is only 17MB and I've uploaded all 5 files to my site on:
    http://www.cantata.co.uk/temp2/minorswing.html
    but all I seem to get is the control skin's "sending data" pole turning.The movie never arrives. I can get much bigger mpeg and wmv movies up on my screen very quickly.
    Can anyone suggest what the problem may be? I'm running Snow Leopard on my Mac (OX 10.6.6). I've tried using different videos but nothing seems to work.
    Here's the relevant html generated by Flash

    Thanks - I don't know what as2 is. I'm using Flash CS5. When I import the flv movie file, I'm asked to choose a skin and then a window comes up to tell me that the address of the flv file with respect to the other files will be minorswing.flv by which I take it to mean that all the files need to be in the same level of folder (directory). All five are in the same folder on my Mac and in the same folder on my website. I can't see how I can influence the program in choosing a different structure or outputting different html in the Publish Settings or elsewhere.
    I would have expected the relative structure of the files to be maintained between my desktop, where I can play the movie in my browsers, and the website, where I can't. I was surprised there was no "src" param name in the html, and I did try inserting one, but it made no difference, so I assumed the default for the html is to be in the same folder as the html and that the minorswing.swf file would contain information on the whereabouts of the flv file and the skin swf file.
    Is there a way of reading or editing the swf files to include an absolute url?

  • Embedding a Flash movie on a secure page

    Hi,
    I've used the Dreamweaver CS3 wizard to embed a Flash movie
    in an ASP page and it works fine.
    However, when I move the page on a SSL connection the Flash
    movie won't display. If I change all the
    http:// references to https:// in the scripts
    (like I saw on an old post) I only get a white box instead of the
    movie.
    Please see the attached bit of code.
    The old post I read was referring to an old version of Flash
    but I doubt that it would make a difference?
    Thanks.

    Has the Scripts folder been uploaded and pathed properly?

    to 12 seconds long (both real time - and slow motion) shot
    on DVC-Pro 720x486 - exported as uncompressed QT movies - in
    a current supported Codec.
    I would like to deliver them on the internet - both as QT,
    and Flash movies.
    For the Flash development, my first questions -
    2 Questions:
    1). Is it possible to deliver an internet Flash Movie at a
    640x480 size?
    I see tons of references to creating 320x240 sizes - but
    what about the larger, physical size?
    2) Is it possible to allow a way for my audience to download,
    save & keep the Flash movies - to watch later?
    If so, how are the way's you folks would do it? (3rd
    question).
    Thank you for any help, time or direction that you may offer.
    Kindest regards & Christmas greetings,

    Thank you rafiqelmansy for helping,
    and Happy New Year to you as well!
    Ok, I think I understand about file size and bandwidth.
    These movies will be offered on line - to paying subscribers.
    Each movie teaches a paticular dance move (with 2 different
    camera views
    one real time, the other view in slow motion) . . plus there
    is no Audio .
    Only text titles, description & break down.
    So the content is for training (monkey see, monkey do), and
    needs to be as large as possible - preferably 640x480 . . . .
    The clients know that it's not going to be tiny file sizes -
    and because each
    dance movie is only (average) 8 seconds long - it should
    still boil down
    to an acceptable, downloadable size . . . .
    At least that's what I was hoping for. Thank you for letting
    me know that
    Flash will at least give me the options.
    Of course I'll be doing all kinds of compression level
    testing - but I didn't
    want to start in a 640 direction - until I could find out
    first - if that physical size was even supported.
    In reference to question 2, you wrote:
    "2) yes, you just need to upload the version that the users
    need to download and link to it from Flash using."
    It looked like maybe you got cut off - or that you wanted me
    to go to your
    web site (using attached link) . . . I searched your site on
    the tutorials -
    very nice (I know physical size of Flash content &
    player, and will use your tutorial for that end of delivery) . . .
    But I didn't see any reference on:
    How to offer your customers the ability to download,
    save/keep, and watch the movie(s) later . . . . (but maybe I missed
    it).
    Do I offer it with a link to a Compressed "Stuff it" flash
    player file.
    Is there just a simpler way?
    And then, what happens when the customer actually double
    clicks the
    file that's on their computer . . . . . does it engage the
    browser, then the flash plug in - then
    begin playing it ?
    I'm just not sure how it should be done - so that it will
    really work.
    Could you please help me on this a little more?
    Thanks again,
    Luke Wonderly

  • Browser scrollbar for Flash movie?

    The webpage for my Flash movie does not have scrollbars. On
    most of the frames (I did each site page as a named frame in a
    single timeline) it doesn't matter, but there is one frame where
    the content stretches the full 900 px tall and you can not scroll
    down.
    I'm afraid I also have complicated things because the client
    said he wanted everything, the whole site, 10% bigger... so I set
    the movie width and height as 110% in the HTML. (Suggestions on
    this are appreciated, too!)
    I'm worried that if I somehow add scrollbars, it will want to
    add a horizontal scrollbar to the bottom too.
    I was wondering if I could add a Flash scrollbar (if it
    worked with scrolling mice, that would be bonus) just on that page,
    and have it appear exactly at the right edge of the browser window
    and smartly sense how tall to be. Would I have to load it as a
    separate movie? Any suggestions are ever so much appreciated!

    Nevermind... I found out his Flash Player was WIN 9,0,47,0
    while everyone else is WIN 9,0,124,0 . He upgraded & it is
    working.

  • Flash Movie Tween Displays Off Canvas in Flex

    I have a SWF which plays a tween of a sliding door moving downwards.  I am loading it using SWFLoader and then extracting the content as a MovieClip and playing it.  The intention is that it will occupy the top half of the screen in the Flex app so the size of the SWFLoader has been set accordingly.  I have tried to constrain it in various types of containers but no matter what I do the door slides down into bottom half of my Flex app (obscuring other stuff) even though the flash movie has a size which corresponds to the top half of the window only and plays that way as a standalone movie.
    Any ideas on this?  Surely there must be some way to say "use the following rectangle of the screen and no more".

    Okay.  So I figured it out.  Seems that you have to set clipAndEnableScrolling="true" on the container. Cheers.

    If you try any in IE8, they stop half way and do not give a smooth stream.  I am wondering if I have to stream differently and not via the progressive download stream as I have??!

  • Passing a parameter between flash movies

    I have a flash movie for drop down menus that is called by all flash/movie banner sections of my site. The banner movies use FlashVars to set the heading and an image. The trouble is that the flash menus also were set to use a flashvar to dictate the context of the menus and leave one top level menu highlighted to show the content to the user.
    I have not been able to get both of them to use the Flashvars functionality. The html page calls the banner movie directly and it can therefore access the Flashvars. The menu swf however - which is not called from the html page but instead is called from within the banner movie - cannot access the flashvars variables. That leaves me with two choices:
    1. Either use a different method for passing the context variable to the menu movie.
    2. HTML code calls the banner movie. I can continue using flashvars and get the context variable by reading it from within the banner movie - and then somehow pass the value down to the menu movie if that is possible.
    Far greater AS coders than me frequent this site and I'm hoping one of you can suggest how to get this done...
    Thanks yet again,
    Sam

    right, in the banner swf you've got something like:
    // use this to set a default value just in case
    var contextValue= 0;
    // now set it to the flashVar
    contextValue= root.loaderInfo.parameters.contextFlashvar;
    then pass the var you create into the menuswf -- see the red bit below:
    // create loader and ask it to load something
    var myLoader:Loader = new Loader();
    myLoader.load(new URLRequest("swfFolder/mySwf.swf"));
    //add listeners to the loader
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, handleComplete);
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, handleProgress);
    myLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, handleError);
    function handleComplete(event:Event){
         // give the loaded swf a reference -- name of the loaded file means nothing to flash file
         var westview_menus = myLoader.content as MovieClip;
       // now use that reference to set vars
         westview_menus.context = contextValue;
         addChild(westview_menus);
    function handleProgress(event:ProgressEvent):void{
        //progress handler stuff
    function handleError(event:IOErrorEvent):void{
        // error handler
