Scale parameter

Hello everyone.
I m trying to create a parameter with 2 or 3 dimension.
Actually just like the scale parameter.
I tried to create it with
PF_ADD_POINT, but it does not work by default with 3 dimension.
How to specify that i want three dimensions? I did not fine any revelant field in paramDef.u.td...
the other problem is that i want to have %, can I specify % in the display parameter of point?
I also wold like to set the precision of my field.
I would like to be able to link my paremeter naturally to a transform scale. Wich succeed with a point parameter when we are in 2D, but fails when you swap to 3D layer...
any ideas?

as far as i know, there's no 3D parameter that looks like what you describe.
many effects that need to define a point in 3D use a point param for the x and y and an additional slider for z.
I totally agree with you that it's a pain in the behind.
having to tie the x and y separately for the z and defining which channel goes where... it's a repeating head ache.
I can think of three solutions for you:
1. create a custom parameter.
you draw the param yourself so you can make it whatever you want.
2. instead of having a parameter that describes a 3D attribute, use a layer selector and read that layer's scale (or position).
you can even have a button on your effect that creates a null object and selects it automatically.
3. use a color param, it can hold 3 or 4 parameters with one keyframe.
in fact, you can use a color param with a custom interface and just draw the data there. the problem with a color param is that it's limited in range. it can't go negative or past 100%.
in my opinion a custom param is the way to go.

  • Trying to connect the scale parameter with a bouncing ball

    hi, to all
    and thanks for reading this is my first post
    I'm looking for a way to link the scale parameter of a ball to achieve a bounce effect.
    Im trying to use the new link behavior -I used the replicator to replicate a ball then I add the edge collision to it -so far so good the balls are acting ok but now i want to add the scale effect to it when the ball is jumping/ touching the ground
    any idea ????
    thanks

    I think it's going to be tough to make that happen - I think it would be easier to simply keyframe it - you can then save the keyframes in a variety of ways:

  • How to put clip into 16:9 timeline then scale footage?

    How do I drop a clip into a 16"9 SD timeline and scale the footage up until its fits the frame, then export to Youtube SD widescreen.

    Assuming you wish to drop a 4:3 clip into the DV widescreen sequence? Select clip on timeline to highlight it, then go to Effects panel and use MOTION effect - the SCALE parameter can be use zoom in, and you might want to use POSITION as well if heads are getting cut off. Can pan-and-scan to keep action centered. Study up on using KEYFRAMES also, since you may need to animate the framing to keep subject in frame.
    When happy with the edit, just export as H.264 using the YouTube SD wide preset

  • FCE4 'Modify Scale to Sequence' - not here .. :(

    pg 801 of the FCE handbook describes a method to scale stills (and videos) 'automatically' to Sequence properties.. it says:
    .. To scale an image within a sequence to exactly fit the sequence dimensions:
    1 Select one or more clips in the sequence. ∏ Tip: You can also place the playhead over a clip in the Timeline without selecting any clips.
    2 Choose Modify > Scale to Sequence.
    Each selected clip’s Scale parameter is set to the appropriate amount so that both horizontal and vertical image dimensions fit within the sequence dimensions. The images are not squeezed or stretched, but they may appear letterboxed or pillarboxed if the aspect ratios of the image and the sequence don’t match.
    Note: The Scale to Sequence command works on video clips as well as still-image clips.
    unfortunately, there's no 'Scale to Sequence'-command in that menu of FC/e 4.0.1 ..

    so.. ? wrong chapter in handbook, FC/p only? ..
    appreciate any insights ..

  • How to zoom without increasing scale window?

    I have about 10 images on the screen, all set in place where I want them to be. Obviously, if i use the scale or position functions under the motion effects tab, i am able to move the images around which effectively can increase the sizes and move the images from side to side etc. So where I am stuck is, that I am now am trying to somehow lock these images that I have on screen, but still being able to zoom or position the images within their current placings without the image windows or borders moving at all. So is this possible to lock or freeze the images, but still be able to play with the scale inside the image windows?

    Nested sequences.
    I assume that you want a picture-in-picture where the image continues to take up, let's say, one quarter or less of the screen, but you want to zoom back up to 100% and yet have the image still take up one quarter or less of the screen. Is that right?
    If you put the image into a sequence that is the size of one quarter of the frame (half of each dimension), you can start with the picture scaled down to fit into the smaller frame, and then zoom back up to 100%,using the position parameter to make sure to have the part of the picture you want to show as the center of the smaller frame. Then just drop that sequence on to the original sequence. You can still resize the nested sequence even smaller if you wish just by using the Scale parameter of the nested sequence
    Like this? I just put the image in a small sequence (960X540) and used the titler to but a frame around it. When I got it into the main sequence I realized I wanted it smaller still, so I just positioned it and scaled it to where I wanted it.

  • Provide scal setting for Graphs in 9i Reports

    I have embedded a Graph in Reports 9i.
    Even afte i provided the Scale parameter as
    Minimum = 0.00
    Maximum = 50,0000
    Increament = 10,0000
    The Y-axis scale is diaplayed as 10k, 20k, 30k
    i want to disply the scale as 10000 ,20000, 30000 How it is pssible ?

    Hi,
    in the FQA-Document for Graphs on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/reports/htdocs/faq/graph_faq_with_style.html) there's the same question (By default the Y-axis scale in my graph reads as 1K, 2K... Can I modify the scale to read 1000, 2000...? ) with the answer.

  • Scale to frame size, does it change clip resolution?

    do you lose resolution on the chip when you do this?  thanks!

    It is a bit more complicated than that.
    If you use the Scale to Fit you lose the pixels you are not seeing. So if you want to scale it up a little larger, like almost back up to the size it was before, you are going above 100% of the "new" image that was scaled down, and therefore you will have less of a quality image.
    If you use the Motion effect's "Scale" parameter, you do not throw away the unused pixels so you can scale it back up to 100% without a loss of quality.
    Therefore, if you plan on panning around the image, like Ken Burns, you want to use the Motion effect.
    If you just want to use it at the new smaller size, then you are no t going to lose much visual quality either way, but keep in mind that there are less pixels and therefore the picture will not be the same. If it was vibrant and exiting at full size, it may not be quite so stunning at a smaller size.

  • How to change solid size automatically to a text field?

    Does anyone know how to make a solid change the scale parameter automatically when the layer above it goes longer / shorter then it? I’m trying to have a text field that can be changed and need the solid underneath it to change the scale parameter when the text goes longer or shorter then the solid. Sounds like an expression…

    I got this working with the following expression:
    xExtra=effect("xExtra")("Slider")
    yExtra=effect("yExtra")("Slider")
    x=thisComp.layer("Text 1").sourceRectAtTime().width + xExtra;
    y=thisComp.layer("Text 1").sourceRectAtTime().height + yExtra;
    [x,y]
    The Problem:
    it resizes from the middle out. I need the text justified left (which it is not, because then it is not lined up and if I drag the shape layer over to line it up as I add text it still goes from the middle out and does not completly cover the whole text) and have this expression change only the length of the box below on the right side and keep the left justified.
    Any Ideas?

  • Multiple formats in same sequence

    I have officially switched from using a Mac to edit wedding videos over the past 8 years to a PC. And I'm switching from Final Cut to CS5. I film weddings with three cameras. One is a T2i (so h264 .mov files), and the other 2 film to mini DV tapes. In the past, I've converted all the footage to ProRes 422 in Compressor and edited in a ProRes sequence. As I understand, I'll now be able to edit the T2i footage natively, but I am unsure how I should go about capturing (or transcoding) the miniDV footage so that it will flow best with the T2i footage. Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks, and I'm looking forward to all the great features Premiere has to offer!

    Are these DV cameras or HDV cameras? If DV, you're not going to have really great results creating HD output from SD source. If it's HDV, you don't want to use a DV sequence, but instead use a relevant HDV preset.
    Ultimately, scaling standard definition to high-definition by any method is not optimal; the results are nowhere close to shooting in HD originally. In addition, it doesn't make much sense to scaled HD video down to SD for editing, only to scale it back up to HD for output. Clarify your source cameras for a better recommendation.
    Premiere has a "scale to fit" option in the preferences; I don't recommend using this, as everything you drop into ANY timeline gets scaled, whether it's larger or smaller. You can scale to fit on an individual basis (right-click a clip), but the better way is to use the Scale parameter on a single clip, save that as a preset, and apply that to other instances of the T2i footage elsewhere in the sequence. Alternatively, you can copy the Motion effect (where Scale is located) and paste it to the other clips.

    When I see the source code of the Darwin kernel (unix_startup.c), it works like it is specified here. But I still cannot I wonder whether the kernel calls srv_setup() and bsd_srv_setup() properly. I would like to find a way (via systemsetup command, modifying com.apple.Boot.plist, applying NVRAM parameter, etc.) so that bsd_srv_setup() would be called with a larger "scale" parameter. Or perhaps is there any way to compile a custom kernel from source and replace the system one?

  • Resizing FLV files in Dreamweaver CS3

    Hello,
    I am adding videos to my websites' "videos main page", and these extra videos are going to be added to the videos currently in the flash player. I have already copied the jpg preview picture files and the flv video files into my website directory. To contain the extra data, I have already added the appropriate number of <li>'s to the index.html file of the videos folder. For each new video I have also added an <img src="...."> line to the images.xml file. The images.xml file has information regarding the id, location etc..of every video in general. It is shown below.
    images.xml file:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <gallery>
         <album id="videos" title="CBET Videos" description="CBET Video Gallery"
         lgPath="video_gallery/album1/videos/">
              <img src="2g_robotics.flv" id="2g_robotics" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/2g_robotics_preview.jpg" caption="2G Robotics"/>
              <img src="clearpath.flv" id="clearpath" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/clearpath_preview.jpg" caption="Clearpath"/>
              <img src="medshare.flv" id="medshare" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/medshare_preview.jpg" caption="Medshare"/>
              <img src="nalion.flv" id="nalion" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/nalion_preview.jpg" caption="Nalion"/>
              <img src="mbetcommercial.flv" id="mbetcommercial" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/mbet_commercial.jpg" caption="MBET Commercial"/>
              <img src="ocecbetcommercial.flv" id="ocecbetcommercial" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/oce_cbet_commercial.jpg" caption="OCE CBET Commercial"/>
              <img src="bostontrip08.flv" id="bostontrip08" vidpreview="video_gallery/album1/videos/boston_trip_08.jpg" caption="Boston Trip 2008"/>
         </album>
    </gallery>
    The only issue that I have, is that the videos themselves display in the player at a much smaller size, than the container size. I bet you could fit a three by three array of videos in my flash player. The first four img src lines are the videos that play at the correct size, and fill the flash player container, whereas the last three img src lines (the ones I added) are the videos that do not display at a correct size.
    Is there any way that I can resize the flv files so that they fill the container within the flash player in Dreamweaver CS3? I primarily assumed that one can simply change the pixel dimensions (width and height) properties of the flv file itself, but apparently this is an issue regarding formatting in Dreamweaver. Online I found that one can specify pixel dimensions in the images.xml file. Does anybody have any ideas? Its probably an easy thing.
    Thanks to everyone for coping with these details, and any help would be appreciated greatly.
    kind regards,
    Mr.V

    Hi
    There are a number of ways you may do this, the first would be to use the scale parameter for the flash player content, but the problem you will find is maintaining the aspect ratio and if your flv's are smaller the degradation in the quality when 'enlarging', see - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14149.html.
    The second way would be to use a combination of actionscript and javascript to proportionally 'enlarge' the flv, again the above problems apply.
    Finally you could change the size of the flash player to fit your 'new' flv using javascript, but this method would in all probability present layout problems for your user, a small change would be o/k, but the size of change you are talking about would not. The design would have to incorporate a fixed size div for the flash player, and resizing the player would leave a large amount of white space.
    It is possible to do this using a liquid layout, but again this would cause problems with page rendering.

  • MainStage 3 Wham pedal off key?

    Hi - so I just upgraded to MainStage 3, and I'm very excited to see "Wham" as a pedal option. It seems to be based on the DigiTech Whammy pedal, which is the ONLY physical pedal I use with MS. However, I'm thinking it might be one half-step off. I use it by setting the range all the way up to 12 or 24 (which should be one and two octaves up on a guitar). Note that once you get to 12, the next setting is 24 (no 13-23). This SHOULD be fine for me because I only use the pedal to go up in full octaves. However, it seems to be one half-step off.
    For example, if the pedal is disengaged and I play an open string - then play the same string on the 12th fret, this is one full octave. Now when I engage the pedal and play the same open string with the Wham range set on 12 it SHOULD be the same note (just an octave higher). However, it is one-half step flat. So it is the same as playing the guitar string on the 11th fret. Therefore, since there is no range setting for 13 - all of my guitar work sounds flat and nasty when switching the Wham on and off (the same for the 24 range setting).
    Perhaps this Wham pedal isn't meant for full octaves and just smaller stretches of notes, but since there IS a setting for 12 &amp; 24, I would think that this is a bug. Has anyone noticed this or a way to fix it? I really hope there is because if I can get it to work right, I can ditch my last physical pedal and use MainStage as my full rig (I don't even use an amp anymore thanks to this amazing software)! Perhaps I can mess with the tuning (like changing it from 440 to something else), but that would be a rather round-about way to fix it, and my tuner would then be off (which is not an option for me). Suggestions?

    I fixed it!!  This must have been a pretty noob mistake, but I realized that I can customize the position of my MIDI foot controller in a way that the max setting of the expression pedal is exactly one octave from the bottom position.
    When in the EDIT mode of MainStage, just click any expression pedal that is mapped to your MIDI controller, and go to "pedal position."  You can then access the "scale parameter" button, which allows you to set the min and max range of the pedal to its corresponding action in MainStage.  I feel kinda dumb that I didn't notice this before, but if you find yourself having trouble with expression pedals - this might really help you out.
    AWESOME - now I can ditch my last physical pedal and now use MainStage as my entire rig!

  • How do you do superimpositions

    I tried doing a superimposition by putting a in-point over the target clip in the timeline and dragging the source clip into the canvas to the superimpose box
    What I get is just the timeline playing the new no source clip, no superimpostion of the two clips.
    Any suggestions as to how to make this effect work??????
    Thanks

    Your post is very unclear.
    You understand that FCP displays the video tracks from the highest number to the lowest number. If something in the higher number track obscures the lower, you won't see the lower. If the material on the higher number track completely fills the screen, that's all you'll see.
    If you want to see what's under the higher track you either have to reduce the size of the image in the higher track or make it translucent/transparent.
    The size of the images can be adjusted by the "scale" parameter found in the "motion" tab of the viewer. Load the clip into the viewer, adjust the scale and location then do your superimposition.
    Otherwise, you can manipulate the clip/image directly by turning on "image + wireframe" mode in the canvas.
    If you are looking to do a composite, David has your answer.

  • Using the brilliant effect with a size oscillate.

    Hi,
    Trying to achieve a Star Trek effect with the Brilliant particle generator. It's the flash at the end of this (http://youtube.com/watch?v=8d10vQHbZQU).
    I'm trying to replicate it with the Brilliant particle and i get something strange. I added an oscillate to the scale parameter, and while it works I get some particles drifting along the y-axis? I'm not sure why it's doing this. I'm applying the oscillate to the whole group. Should I be adding it to just the particle?
    Cheers and Thanks,
    Jose

    Have you taken a look at the Dazzle filter? You may be able to recreate that effect with just the Dazzle filter and some object opacity keying plus adjustments and key framing to Dazzles Amount and Brightness parameters.

  • Can I crop a normal landscape video to become a portrait (tall and narrow) pip in Premiere or Premiere Pro?

    Or import a portrait video as a PIP without Premiere adding black bars on either side i.e. filling in a wide screen format/preset?

    Job answered the second question. Use the Scale parameter of the Motion effect to scale it up to fit. But don't expect to be happy about it. One thing that makes it better is to use two portrait videos side by side to fill in the landscape frame.
    As for the first question, the portrait PiP, use the Crop effect. There are other ways but that is probably the easiest.
