Scan a range of addresses

Is there an easy way to use a router to ping or scan a subnet to see what IP's are currently active.

you can try to ping the broadcast address of the subnet... the broadcast address is the last address of the subnet. You should receive a answer from the ip's which are in use. But.... not all devices are answering to directed broadcast

  • Number range for Address no

    Dear Friends,
    Could you please tell the settings for Number range for Address no.
    I know some address nos. But i want to know what kind of address nos these are (e.g. whether customer, plant, user, vendor, etc )
    Thanks,
    pinky

    Dear Friend,
    All Addresses in sysem are stored in a Central table - ADRC.
    By all Addresses I mean, Customer, Vendor, Contact Person, etc... & the Numbers to these address are assigned internally by the system sequentially.
    The Number range Object is ADRNR - Address management.
    To check the Number Range assigned to ADRNR - Use T-Code SNUM - enter Object as ADRNR & click on Number Range button.
    Here you can see the Number range assigned & the current Number Range.
    Hope this helps...

  • Scan Date Range SQL

    User requested to find all current terminated employee who was eligible for benefit in 2008.
    We need to fetch data from Oracle Application HR Date Tracked table, PER_ALL_ASSIGNEMNTS_F which employee’s assignment record is stored based on the EFFECTIVE_START and EFFECITVE_END dates.
    It's possible an employee who was eligible for benefit in MAR-MAY but became ineligible in JUN-JULY. (That would be 2 assignment records with different range of effective start and end date).
    We've developed a PL/SQL for scanning the assignment record day by day thru out 2008. See the code below.
    The question is, how can we implement same logic (scanning the assignment record day by day) in PL/SQL into SQL?
    Thanks!
    (seems like this is different forum found in metalink, I'm sorry if I posted twice.)

    I'm glad it helped, but I still don't understand exactly what you need.
    Do you want 366 rows of output?
    If so, then yes, this is a good way to get it.
    If not, there's probably a better way, as Sy suggested.
    Hi Frank
    The assignment record we have is date tracked which means each record is tracked by effective_start and effective_end.
    An employee could have mutiple assignment record within an year.
    User is asking to report any ee who is currently terminated and who was eligible for benefit (a data column in assignment record) anytime in 2008.
    The idea I had came from the PL/SQL logic.
    By using PL/SQL, I can scan the assignment record day by day. That helped to fetch every assignment record where the check_date falls between the effective_start and effective_end.
    Also, reason I asked to use the "CONNECT BY Query" (thanks Frank!) because not all assignment starts and ends between 1/1/2008 and 12/31/2008.
    Some ee could have started prior to 2008 and ended mid 2008 and then started the end of 2008.
    Please let me know if there is a better way to resolve this problem.
    Thanks everyone for all the ideas, I really appreciate it!
    Brian.

  • How to search a maximum in range (determined by a value in another cell)?

    I'm trying to find the maximum and minimum in a range of cells.
    I've determined the start cell and end cell in Table 1 for each search range, but I can't get it to fit in a formula.
    TABLE 1
    1 --- 105
    2 --- 75
    3 --- 20
    4 --- 74
    5 --- 124
    6 --- 100
    7 --- 17
    TABLE 2
    Start row (A) --- End row (B) --- MAX (C) --- MIN (D)
    1 --- 3 --- 105 --- 20
    4 --- 7 --- 124 --- 17
    I can get Numbers to display the cell to start in the range,
    =ADDRESS(A2,2,,,"Table 1")
    results in "$A$1"
    but apparently, you can't include that function in a range
    =MAX(ADDRESS(A2,2,,,"Table 1"):(ADDRESS(A3,2,,,"Log"))
    So how do I get my MAX formula to include the range that the ADDRESS formula outlines?

    in column MAX the formula is:
    =MAX(OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,$A,1,$B+1-$A))
    in column MIN it is:
    =MIN(OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,$A,1,$B+1-$A))
    in both case, OFFSET(Tableau 1 :: $A$1,$A,1,$B+1-$A)
    is a range whose first cell is Tableau 1 :: $A$1+( $A rows) + (1 column) and which contain $B+1-$A cells in the scanned column.
    for the row 2 this means 3+1-1 = 3 cells in the column starting in Tableau 1 :: B2
    for the row 3 this means 7+1-4 = 4 cells in the column starting in Tableau 1 :: B5
    I uses the absolute addressing so that it is easy to relocate the formula from C2 to C3 or even from C2 to D2 (just need to replace MAX by MIN).

  • ARD Client Doesn't Show When Using Scanner and Network Range

    All-
    When I use the Scanner in ARD3 to scan a remote Network Range over the internet, the ARD client that I KNOW EXISTS in that same IP range DOES NOT show up (other ARD clients that I'm not interested in do show up, but not the specific ARD client I need to observe/control).
    If I then call the user at the remote ARD client on the telephone, and have them give me their IP address (using www.whatismyip.com, for example), I can use the Scanner in ARD3 to "find" the ARD client and add it to my All Computers list. Process: change the popup box to read "Network Address" instead of "Network Range" and set the IP address field to the address provided by the user.
    Why doesn't the remote ARD client show up when I scan for it using a Network Range in ARD3? Obviously, I don't want to have to call up each user every time I need to perform maintenance/control a client to get their (dynamic) IP address.
    I could use dynamic DNS, but that's overkill. If I know (from experience) that my ARD clients are in IP ranges X, Y, and Z, then I SHOULD be able to simply scan for them (or so I thought).
    Any help appreceated.

    Updated to ARD3.1 (admin and clients), but that did not solve the issue.
    Let me try to restate the problem:
    The ARD client is out of state/across the country (i.e., different sub-net) using a dynamically assigned IP adddress. I can (for now) connect to that ARD client successfully, and perform all ARD functions (that I've tried so far) becasue I know (for now) that client's IP address (I called and spoke with the user who used www.whatismyip.com to give me their IP address). So what's the problem, you ask?
    Some time in the future, that same ARD client will have a new, dynamically assigned IP address. I'd like to be able to connect to that client without having to call on the telephone and ask the user what IP address they have been assigned now.
    My thinking was that I could make a pretty good guess at their IP address (based on their old IP address, and the way Cable and Telco ISPs allocate/lease IP addresses). For example, if their current dynamic IP address is 999.888.777.45, I could guess that a subsequent dynamically assigned IP address would be in the range 999.888.777.2 to 999.888.777.255. With ARD, I could simply scan that range of network addresses using the Scanner and quickly find the ARD client I want.
    I tried to do just that, and the ARD scanner did not find my client when I scanned the network range that the ARD client was actually in. It showed other ARD clients (that I do not administer, own, or want to hack into), but not the one I do want to observe/control/maintain (and have a legal right to). Somewhat paradoxically, when I used the Scanner to find the same ARD client by specific IP address, there was no problem.
    Why doesn't the ARD Scanner "see" the ARD client when scanning the network range?

  • ARD and changing IP addresses

    I am running ARD on a wifi network at my school to manage new laptop carts and my design lab. I am having the issue where a computer connects and recieves a different IP address from the one saved in ARD, and then the computer registers as Offline or Unavailable. The only fix I see online seems to be manually re-entering the IP, but this can't be the only way.
    I don't understand why you can't just delete all knowledge of a machine in ARD and then just rescan the network and re-enter authentication. It seems insane that you can't rescan for new IPs. I have like 90 computers. This must be an absolute nightmare on large networks.
    I would really appreciate any suggestions!

    Have you tried using Scan Network Range in ARD?
    Alterntively have you consider talking to your Network Administrator about enabling mDNS trafic on the local network?
    How is the wireless setup?

  • Scanning and Comcast internet.

    I'm guessing the reason I can't see my home system from work, and likewise my work systems from home is the same with my Comcast account. Whenever I scan a range I get no results. When I scan an address I get a fast connection and status update. Is this something that all Comcast users face? Is there something I can ask them to do? I need to scan 9 sub nets from my home and with most of my 240+ clients on DHCP I can never find them.

    Is your work system also on Comcast? At the health science center where I work, I have to connect my home computer to the work intranet using VPN; then I can remotely control my home computer from work. Conversely, I use my home computer via VPN to access my office computer and Mac server at work. The LAN Analysts at work set up VPN access for the faculty, staff, and students.

  • RAC 11g SCAN and DNS

    Hi,
    Do I need to consider and resgister SCAN with DNS or just use SCAN as VIP before I install RAC 11G R2 ?

    Hi,
    In case you decide to use the Grid Naming Service (GNS),the GNS daemon will allocate three IP addresses from the range of addresses offered by the DHCP server. The IP addresses are Address records in DNS that resolve to the SCAN name in a round robin fashion
    In /etc/hosts on each node of the cluster – a single IP for the whole cluster. Helps bypass the OUI installer limitation of DNS defined SCAN.

  • Laserjet 4345 mfp won't scan to folder; web interface not showing all admin tabs

    Hi,
    I have a laserjet 4345 mfp which, until a few days ago, was able to scan documents to a network folder. When I try now it gives me the error "the path cannot be found". Here's what I've tried so far:
    - Looked for a way to change the network folder settings or define a new folder. I couldn't find any so I printed the "how to scan to folder" page from the control panel. It tells me to define a new location by clicking the "Other" button on the control panel, but I can't find an Other button, on any screen.
    - Accessed the web interface, which only shows up  with the "Home" and "Networking" tabs - no "Digital Sending", "Settings", or  "Information" tabs, which should be there according to the manual.
    - Thinking it might be a permissions issue, I checked and found that the administrator password was not set. I set the admin password via the web interface, and now when I try to access it prompts for the password I defined, but still gives this incomplete interface. I am also able to access and change all the networking settings, so I don't think insufficient permissions are the issue.
    - Called HP support, they said the problem is permissions and I should cold reset the machine, which I am quite reluctant to do since not only all settings, but the entire address book as well, would need to be re-entered. This aside from the fact that I really don't think permissions are the issue, as decribed above.
    - Verified that I am able to send scans to different email addresses. SMTP gateway test goes through OK. LDAP does not, but this has not prevented scan to folder from working in the past.
    I don't know how the scan-to folder was initially set up because I wasn't supporting this client at the time.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks in advance.

    I have a problem with my scan to folder as well and I have to access the folder from a computer before it will work.  I'm not sure why that works, actually.  You might want to give that a try to see if it fixes the problem.  If it does, I imagine it is some sort of security problem with the folder you are trying to scan to.
    Thanks,

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 Scan to Email Function

    HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 is a great value for all the features it provides. "Scan to Email" was one of the reasons i bought this printer. Even though i can make this fucntion work with my gmail and iCloud emails, i feel very uncomfortable in providing those emails credentials while setting up this funciton.
    1) Does the printer store the user name/password encrypted?
    2) Does EWS encrypt the password while sending it to SMTP service?
    3) Does HP provide SMTP service with HP Connected or HP Support Forum (this forum!) credentials. I will feel more comfortable in using HP's username/password for this service than GMail or Apple
    Your help is much appreciated.

    Hi,
    If I remember correctly, the printer should offer you to save the email address to the adress book while scanning to email, I do not have any acces to the printer correctly to ensure that.
    Additionally to add email addresses to the Email Address Book, complete the following steps:
    1. Open the embedded web server (EWS) by clicking Printer Home Page (EWS from teh HP Officejet Pro 8620 software Or
         by browsing the printer IP from your browser (Click he Ethernet or Wireless icon on the bottom of the screen to see it.)
    2. On the Scan tab, click Email Address Book.
    3. Click New to add a single email address.
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions. The entry is added to the Email Address Book.
    You may add up to 15 email addresses.

  • Issues with McAfee IPS and HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g-m performing port scan

    Trying to run a HP PhotoSmart Premium C309g-m printer wirelessly and connect to a laptop computer with Windows 7 32-bit operating system.  Printer is available for about 3 and a half minutes and then is blocked by McAfee because the printer is trying to perform a UDP port scan.  The IP address of the printer is blocked for 10 minutes and then becomes available again.  After about 3 and a half minutes, the printer IP address is again blocked by McAfee IPS for 10 minutes and the cycle repeats again.  Goes on all day.  Difficult to get any work done.  Anyone have a fix to stop the port scans?  Thanks

    Hello JWB46,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
    I understand when you scan a document, it takes longer and the background is black with horizontal white lines or a greenish background. I will do my best to assist you! First, I need to find out your operating system on your computer? Windows or Mac?
    How is this printer connected? Wireless or USB?
    Please make sure you have followed this entire HP document on Color or Brightness Level of Scanned Image is Not Correct. I would like to test out the hardware within your printer. Try copying a blank document on the scanner glass. Let me know if you have the same results. I will be looking forward to hearing from you. Have a great night!

  • Trouble Printing or Scanning? Try the HP Print and Scan Doctor

    Are you having trouble when you try to print or scan with your Deskjet, Officejet, or Photosmart printer or All-in-One?
    Does your print job get “stuck” and never come out of your printer?
    Are you getting an error message when you try to scan?
    HP suggests that you download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor. While not all types of printing and scanning communication problems are addressed with this software utility, many common problems are resolved. This utility can be used to troubleshoot and in some cases directly fix common connectivity problems experienced with many of HP’s desktop printers and all-in-one devices when used on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, and Win 8 systems (administrator privileges are necessary in order to run the utility).
    If the HP Print and Scan Doctor detects missing or incompatible software parts, the utility will offer to uninstall the current parts so that a subsequent reinstall process will go smoothly.  The uninstall / reinstall process usually resolves printing and scanning connectivity issues with a minimum of further fuss.
    Get it here:  HP Print and Scan Doctor
    Please Give HP Your Feedback!  If you use the HP Print and Scan Doctor, HP would like to hear from you afterward  – there’s a survey link built right into utility and it only takes a minute or two.  Your ideas on how to improve the Print and Scan Doctor help HP design new features and enhancements for all of our customers.  Thanks for taking the time to respond.
    Do you have a networked printer?
    If your printer is network connected rather than connected via USB, you may be experiencing network related connectivity issues.  Any network connectivity issues must be addressed first.  The HP Print and Scan Doctor will also check for and help you resolve network issues that previously required a separate utility (the HP Network Diagnostic Utility).  With the HP Print and Scan Doctor this is no longer necessary!  HP has combined all features of the Print Diagnostic, Scan Diagnostic, and Network Diagnostic utilities into our next generation utility!
    The HP Print and Scan Doctor runs on Windows XP, Vista, Win 7, and Win 8.  You will need administrator privileges in order to run the utility.

  • How do I get list of client IP Addresses using new Airport Utility v6.3?

    I have purchased and Airport Time Capsule 3TB (newest model).  Previous models were still compatible with Airport Utility 5.6 and I could use "manual" mode to get a list of client IP addresses attached to the device.  The new Airport Time Capsule is only compatible with Airport Utility 6.3 and I cannot figure out how to get a list of client IP addresses with this new model. Does anyone know how to do this?

    Try a ping broadcast - for example if your network were 192.168.1.xxx (netmask of 255.255.255.0) try this from a Termnal.app window (located in /Applications/Utilities):
         ping 192.168.1.255
    If you have a different type netmask, you need to put 255's where the 0's are in your netmask.
    Everyone on the local network (the 192.168.1.xxx network) should reply that is up and running unless you have them setup to not respond to pings (the WAN port on your TC should not reply cause it's in a different network) and you have your list of clients on the network. If you setup the TC to dedicate a range of addresses for WiFi clients you can even identify which of them are wired and which are wireless.
    good luck.

  • Bolding Address in Labels w/ Word Automation?

    I have a unique problem. Right now, I'm creating a single label on an label sheet using
    ActiveDoc = oWord.Application.MailingLabel.CreateNewDocumentByID(labelID:=AveryType)
    and then adding 3 paragrpahs of info like a normal word doc using Paragraph.Add, etc. on the first label.
    The problem is that I would like to create a full page of labels, and I know you can use
    address:="The Text"
    for full page of labels of that text, but it's 3 different paragraphs, and the first paragraph is user selectable to be Bold or not. Using Cell selects like a normal word doc after the label sheet is created and doing it won't work because different labels
    have different spacer cells (how many, where, etc.).
    I know inside Word in the Labels dialog you can right click the Address and bold it, etc.
    So how can I do this programmatically? Anyone have any code or ideas?
    Massive thanks!

    Hi Chris,
    Based on the description, you are creating a full page of label and you want to bold the address.
    >>I know inside Word in the Labels dialog you can right click the Address and bold it, etc.<<
    To get the similar code responding to the manual operation, we can use
    Record a macro, and here is the code for your reference:
    Sub Macro1()
    Application.MailingLabel.DefaultPrintBarCode = False
    Application.MailingLabel.CreateNewDocumentByID LabelID:="16907267", _
    Address:="Addrees1", AutoText:="ToolsCreateLabels1", LaserTray:= _
    wdPrinterManualFeed, ExtractAddress:=False, PrintEPostageLabel:=False, _
    Vertical:=False
    End Sub
    And based on the code above, the macro added an building block entry named "ToolsCreateLabels1" for us to bold the address.
    Also we can add the building block entry programmatically, here is the code:
    Sub addBuildingBlock()
    Dim objTemplate As Template
    Dim objBB As BuildingBlock
    With Application.Selection
    .Range.Text = "Address"
    .Range.Bold = True
    .Expand
    End With
    Set objTemplate = Templates("Normal.dotm")
    Set objBB = objTemplate.BuildingBlockEntries _
    .Add(Name:="ToolsCreateLabels6", _
    Type:=wdTypeQuickParts, _
    Category:="General", _
    Range:=Selection.Range)
    End Sub
    Hope it is helpful.
