Scan string for computer user name

Good morning NI Forums,
I need direction on a file path scan. I'm trying to get to the user name on any system, primarily XP or 7. I'd like to compare the user name from the "Get System Directory" VI with a constant user name.This way I can pass that to a case structure and close LabVIEW if the computer is logged into the wrong user (there are network read/write permissions which is why I need to control where the program isrun from). Any suggestions for the format string constant or maybe a better mouse trap?

I recently received an ipad2 and when I tried to sync using separate apple and iTunes passwords, under her computer user name, it appears I over-road her account and synced all her apps with my apps on my iPad. I then set myself up as a new user on our computer and tried to sync. I now get the error that my iPad is synced to another library. How can I start over without erasing all my data on the iPad?

Go back to her login. Unless you deliberately erased apps, they should all be there, both yours and hers! Then, you need to set up each iPad separately. You will notice that they have separate names for that very purpose.
There is no problem with multiple Apple IDs on the same iTunes on the same computer except... Apps are permanently associated with the ID that was originally used to obtain them. If you choose to update an app from inside iTunes and you're logged into the "wrong" ID, you must log out and back in again.
On the bright side, you can configure either or both iPads to sync with apps and music and movies, etc. from either or both IDs. Further, if you choose to update the apps from the iPads themselves, there is no need to log out/in. The device handles that. All you need is the correct password. In my case, I use the same password for both IDs to make things easier.

Itunes keeps asking me for a user name and password when I first open it.

I do not allow apple to access my library or my hard drive because you guys are predators, and I have NO interest in using the app store. Not control-R. Command-R. Shut the computer down. Reboot it. Hold down cmd-R when you hear the chime. Keep it held down and you should see the Lion recovery partition.

How do I change my computer user name after HP installed a new hard drive on my computer. Now it is called TEST?? So on my C drive instead of saying my name it says TEST. Please help???

Hi, Christina:
Go to the control panel and then to user accounts. Select the Change Your Account Name option. Change the account name from Test to Christina.
That should do it for you.

VISA and Scan string for tokens

Hi there,
I am currently developing a piece of software which needs to take in data from an Arduino board via the serial port and parse the input accordingly.
I have the 2 pieces of code working perfectly well separately, but I can not seem to figure out why they are not functioning properly together.
Just now, the input is being retrieved fine and passed into the Scan string for tokens method, but it is not being split on the tokens, it is just outputting the string as a whole.
The input is in the form of 1:0 2:0 3:1 etc. so I am trying to split it on any spaces found. If I attach a string to the Scan strings for tokens it works fine, just not when I am attaching the data from the serial port to it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
In the output which you are getting from the serial port, is there space between 1:0 and 2:0 and 3:1? If there is no space between them, then it wont be able to scan for tokens and will output the whole string. I don't have the hardware here and so don't know what exactly is the output which you are receiving. Try to see in the read buffer indicator whether the tokens are seperated by a space or not.
I have attached your vi after adding a small part in it. If the problem is with the spacing then this will work fine for 1:0 2:0 3:1.

I am trying to do interoperability tests with Apache WSS4J and Aqualogic ESB for X509 certificates.
I wrote the client and server in the Axis and WSS4J framework. It is worknig fine.

I am using X509 certificates for the digital singature only. I am not using SSL in the demo..
Could anyone help me in this regard since i am structup here for the last one week?

i have a question about setting up the OC4J server to
check against a cert revocation list (CRL) when:
1. SSL in standalone OC4J (no oracle http server)Probably not supported.
2. ws-security x.509 token profile (authenticate user by cert)OC4J + WS_SECURITY doesn't support CRL-s, sorry.

Is Scan String for Tokens documented correctly?

I attempted to parse the following string using " as the only delimiter (no operators):
this "is a test" for "you and me"
The first call produced: "this " w/o the quotes.
I expected "is a test" w/o the quotes.
The documentation says the function will return tokens "surrounded by" delimiters. If this is not a bug, I think the documentation should be improved.

Scan string for tokens

Can anyone help me out on how to detect a new line using the scan string for tokens function? I am using the "\n" delimiter but it is not working

"Scan String For Tokens" weird behaviour

I am trying to carry out the simple task of getting a string with
comma delimiters and produce a string_array with the values in between
the commas; this would simplify calling the different parts of the
string.
Example:
INPUT: this,is,an,example
OUTPUT: this|is|an|example (this would be an array of strings)
Using a while loop with the two VI "Scan String For Tokens" and
"Insert to array" should be enough to carry this task. I started
using a FOR loop as the number of tokens I´ll be using is fixed.
However I wanted to make the subVI more general by allowing any
#tokens in the input string and using the token index with a WHILE
loop to do this. The "token index" output from the "Scan String For
Tokens" is said to be use
d in a while loop to process the whole
string.
However,I´m getting -1 as an output even if I´ve got more tokens left
and the while loop therefore exits.
What am I doing wrong?
Should I use -2 as the comparison to decide whether I´m at hte end or
not of the string?

Check the offset for -1, not the token index. (See attached image). If course if this is a multiline string, the you also need /n etc as delimiter.
If the string ends in a delimiter, you need to clip the last array element. I usually use "reshape array" with the output from [n] as input.

You would make address lables with the Contacts app.
If you don't have the user name and password used to set up the machine then you need to purchase the apps for yourself.

Firefox seems to be prompting me w/ potential email address when i have to put in one for a user name, i don't know how to delete those and stop it...thanks for the help

Every time a box pops up in any kind of site where I have to fill in a user name or password, Firefox tries to prompt me w/ old email address and emails. I don't want that to happen and don't want those email shown...how do I delete those and keep that from happening?

You should always pay attention when installing software because often, a software installer includes optional installs, such as this adware. Be very careful what you agree to install. 
Adware gets on your computer after you have installed a freeware software (video recording/streaming, download-managers or PDF creators) that had bundled into their installation this browser hijacker.
You can use the below steps to revert back to adware-less Firefox.
1) Reset Prefs
*Navigate to '''about:config''' in your Address Bar
*Press the "I'll be careful, I promise!" button to proceed
*Search for trovi and reset all prefs that pull up by right clicking > Reset
2) Remove any programs that you don't recognize or remember installing from your Control Panel (Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a Program)
3) Remove any extensions that you don't recognize or remember installing from Firefox.
*Firefox 29 and above:(Press the menu button ([[Image:new fx menu]] > Add-ons > Extensions)
*Firefox 28 and below:[[Image:Firefox Button]]> Add-ons > Extensions)
4) Download ADW Cleaner to wipe out any remnants of the adware.

Time Machine - How do you not migrate computer user name?

I am going to be selling my Mac Pro (MA970LL/A) and getting a Macbook Pro. In the past, I have used a time machine total migration.
I was thinking about doing it again but I do not want the username/computer name to transfer as well. I want this laptop to have a completely new, different name.
Is there a way to do this transfer and still give the computer a new username/computer name?
I appologize if I did not use the correct terminology.
I am refering to this:
Macintosh HD>Users>Name
also appearing in that folder is:
Machintosh HD>Users>Shared ... if that helps.

If the new name is different from the old one, then MA will migrate the old account, automatically keeping the old username.
I'm not sure we are on the same page here, so to reiterate for clarity.
You are getting a new computer.
You want to migrate your old account to the new computer but want to change the account's username.
When you get the new computer to through the setup and when you are asked to configure the intial admin account you need to use the same username of the old account (the one you will be migrating.) When MA starts the migration process it will prompt you to either Cancel or Rename the account you are migrating. You can then assign the username you would like for the migrated account. MA will take care of the process.
After migration you will need to verify the migrated account has admin status. Also configure it for auto-login. Restart the computer. The computer should startup using the migrated account. You may then delete the initial account you made in the Setup Assistant.

Change main computer user name

I purchased a computer that was on display. Someone had gone in and put in a user name I went to change the user name and it changed only for logging in. When I go to download something or save something that name is still there. How can I change it?

Bea, you need to create a new account and then transfer the profile from the old account over to the new one. You just renamed your logon account and that left the folders still referring to the previous account name; among other things.

I just switched to Charter. When going to Mozilla Firefox a box appears saying, Authentication Required and asks for a User name and Password. What do I do?

I switched from CenturyTel to Charter. I can't use Firefox because a box appears asking me for Authentication Required, User Name and Password. When I hit cancel, this message appears:
HTTP 401 - Unauthorized
Authorization is required to access the configuration server.
You must enter the correct username and/or password.
When I called Charter, they told me they recommended using Internet Explorer. I told them I didn't want IE, I preferred Firefox. They recommended I go to your support page, so here I am. :o)

Have you reset the password recently for the email account?
A real simple fix usually is to delete the mail account (settings < mail contacts calendars, tap the affected account and choose delete at the bottom) Then re add the account.
