Scanning Letterhead is a problem

I scan documents - most are black print on white paper.  Everything works great.  Then I scan in my letterhead which is just 20 wt paper, kind of gray with a burgundy color in the header.
When I scan in color it makes the PDF look dirty but the color header looks good.  When I scan in Black & While it looks OK but for some reason it creates a dark edge along the left side of the PDF.  This does not happen when I scan from while paper.
My scanner is a Fijitsu fi-6130.
I would appreciate any suggestions on cleaning up the color or back & white issues I am having.
Thanks

>> Have you tried any other application to scan the same document with the same scanner? If yes, is the output same as that from Acrobat? If you haven't tried it with any other application can you please try with TWACKER? Please follow the below to test with TWACKER:
1. Download TWACKER (Twack_32.msi) from http://www.twain.org/downloads.shtm
2. Install it.
3. Go to <Program files>\TWAIN Working Group\Twacker 32 and invoke Twack_32.exe.
4. Go to File menu > Select Source.
5. Select the TWAIN driver (not the WIA driver) for HP M1212nf and Click OK.
6. Now, invoke File > Acquire menu.
7. What happens? Do this work?

  • Any way to keep faxing/scanning after "Print-head problem"??

We've got a "Print-head has problem" message.  Ordered new print-head (before seeing another poster's message saying "I did that twice and it didn't help!) but it won't arrive for several days. Meanwhile we'd love to still be able to use this alleged "all in one" to scan and fax.
Problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way to escape from the "print-head problem" message--none of the "cancel" or fax buttons will work.  Cycling the power just recovers the same message again, and otherwise locked up.
I'm hoping some old hand at HP may actually read this and know the magic fix.
So the question:  Is there any way to keep using the 7780's fax and/or scan functions after getting a "print-head has problem" message?
BTW, we've had several problems with the 7780 in the 3 years we've had it.  Had to send one back, and the auto-feeder has been hit-and-miss.  But we've been able to work thru the problems with HP support--though certainly at a high cost in our time.  Then with the problems getting a new Windoze-7 computer to work with it (certainly not entirely HP's fault but your customers could have used some better planning for the thing), we're starting to look at other manufacturers.
If any HP managers or execs ever read these boards, you might keep in mind that a reputation, once lost, is extremely hard to recover.
In any event, any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Hey Kappy, While my network is the only one in my preferred list, it's not the only one that the airport "sees". When I click on the wireless signal strength icon in the upper right part of the menu, when connected to my network, it says at the top of the pop up list "Airport: Scanning". It then lists about 10 wireless networks that are in range.
What I want it to do is stop "scanning" for other networks and simply lock on to my network once connection has been established. Is there a way to do this do you know? Thanks, Dan

this is exactly the kind of response i expected, almost begged support to please not do this to me and yet there it is another meaningless, non helpful, standard template response to restart my apple tv.
this does NOT work which is why i am contacting you. i have tried all suggestions about unplugging and restarting and nothing works.
i live in an apartment and logon to the provided wifi wireless. so i do not have access to a router. however, management says they have talked with their provider and have been assured that the required ports are available.
remember all the jokes about how bad windows was because the solution was always to re boot. funny huh? how is apple any different.
i have been to the local apple care store and they are clueless, too.
should we just end it here and you admit that i will not be getting any support from apple on this one? i got the ipad because my kids were such big fans. it is difficult for me to share their enthusiasm.
at this point i am just curious about how you say you cannot support your own product so i can complete my file on this contact.
thanks...sorry it was you who got this problem..

  • Scanning letterheads, changing for word

My boss wants me to scan a letterhead and set it up so i can send it to his salesmen so they can just type on it in Word.
I scanned the letter, have the pdf and it looks good. I tried exporting it to a word.doc but now the whole page is just the image and it can't be typed on.
How can i flatten the image right onto the document? I would just photoshop the top and bottom into separate parts but if I can just make it work by keeping it all together then i'd rather do that.
If you can help me finish what I started, or if you have a better method, either solution will be fine.
I've attached both the pdf of the scan and the doc that i exported.
I'm going to lunch now, and if the answer is here when I get back, then I owe you 200 internets.

Don't they have an electronic version of the letterhead that you can start with, rather than a scan. A scan makes for sorry letterheads in documents. As for use, you would put the letterhead in the first-page header of the WORD template. In the case of the letterhead we have, it goes down the left side of the paper also and then there is a footer that indicates standard legal stuff. To be able to type on the page, you put the header in with "exact" line spacing and the graphic set to be below the line. The the graphic will appear, but it will not disallow other typing. This trick has been around in word processors for years and is effective for what you need.If the graphic will only be above the text, then the exact line spacing is not needed.
I would have scanned to a TIFF if you plan to use the scan, not to a PDF. Then crop the TIFF as needed in a graphics package. Trying to extract the graphic from a PDF is an extra wasted step, just to get a graphic. I recommend a TIFF format (or maybe a PNG) and not a JPeg that often creates problems for folks.
Again, I would see if you can get the original letterhead in electronic form and skip the scanner version. The original might be in vector format and end up giving a much better quality for the need. Scans sometimes have problems preserving the colors. In our case, the specific colors are designated by our graphics folks and they provide templates and the graphics. In fact, the templates are available for document files and PPT presentations. They are easy to port to other applications also.

  • LASERJET 100 MFP M175MW scanning legal size document problem

I am on a Macbook Pro, running OS X 10.8.5. I am also using the HP Scan software 4.0.
I am having problems scanning a Legal Size document. It always cuts off the bottom portion, acting like it was only us letter size.
After loading a document onto my scanner/printer:
I open the HP Scan software,
           Select the Scan Button
Change the Crop to US Legal in the dropdown area.
            Continue
Then when I look at the image scanned in, it is not complete.
Is there something else I need to do to make this work, maybe a setting on the actual scanner/printer.
I have tried to read all support documentation possible and I cannot get this to work. I even updated all my operating systems upgrades, but I am not running Maverick yet.
I would be thankful for any help at all.
    Thanks!

    @MAMAC4
To my knowledge the only way you can scan legal is from the ADF, have you tried that? If you are trying to scan legal sizs docs from the flatbed than you will experience the cut off that you are stating in your post.
Please try to re-scan the document using your ADF feeder and see if this will solve your issue.
    Thank you.

  • Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Scan-To-Network-Folder Problem On New Dell Optiplex 3020

I hope that I am posting this issue to the correct board.
I recently purchased a Dell Optiplex 3020 64-bit desktop running Windows 7 Pro. My home network now has the old HP printer and my original 2003 vintage Sony Vaio XP Home 32-bit on wired connections. There is also an HP Notebook 64-bit running Windows 7 Home, using a WiFi connection. I replaced a Linux clone (which had connected ok to the printer) with the new Dell on the same wired connection.
With the other 2 PCs, I was able to set up Scan To Network Folder using the original HP software with no problems. I used a current setup file from the HP site to set up the Dell. The file is: "OJP 8500vA909_Full_14 HP Webpack". The Dell prints fine, but when I try to set up the network scan folders on the Dell the setup stalls and I get a request for an SSL certificate. I don't know if this is being generated by the OS or by the HP setup file that I downloaded. I can't figure out how to get the network folders to work on the new Dell, and I know next to nothing about SSL.
To be clear, the old Sony is a 32-bit Windows Home Edition, the HP notebook is Windows 7 Home 64-bit, and the new Dell is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Sometime soon, the Sony will be retired and the OS environment will become much simpler.
While I'm at it, I probably should update the printer firmware. However, my guess is that I should wait to do that until the old 32-bit Sony goes out to pasture.
TIA for any advice and suggestions.

    Hi Alla-guy,
As far as I know, you have posted your issue to the correct board, now let us see what we can do to get it resolved
I will answer your easier question first, in regards to the firmware. You can update the firmware whenever you are ready! You don't need to wait for the other computer to reach it's end, as the firmware is just within the hardware of the printer and shouldn't affect anything software wise on the computer, so go ahead and update the firmware when you have a few minutes!
As for the setting up to scan to a network folder, it is odd that it's asking for SSL, do you know if you're the administrator on the new computer?
I realize the instructions in this Set up and Use Direct Digital Filing for Windows document are for setup, but still have a look and make sure that is how things were going for yourself. Also, it may be a good idea to check any firewalls or anti-virus that you have and temporarily disable any firewalls or programs that could be blocking things over the network.
Let me know how this goes for you!

  • Acrobat 8.1.2:scanning to pdf produce problem of appearance of black strip on right side of pdf doc

I am using licensed Acrobat 8.1.2 Professional at notebook with XP Pro. I have trouble creating a PDF from scaner by using Acrobat 8.1.2, because of appearance of black strip on the right side on each page of pdf doc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Oleg

I hope this isn't a dumb question, but is it coming from the scanner? We have to watch two things when scanning on our Canon 5020s.
#1 Make sure the sidebars are as tight as possible, including making sure the stack of paper is very clean and straight and tight.
#2 There is a setting in our scanner called Margin. It corrects for things like manufacture defect. If we leave that setting alone, we get a small black edge. We have it set to -2 to decrease the scanning area. This fixes that problem.

  • TS1398 'could not scan for wireless networks' problem

I keep getting 'could not scan for wireless networks' whenever I try to connect. I have turned wi-fi off/on, restarted my network, iPod touch, and the home modem. What are some other options for fixing this problem?

    Try:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • Scan letterhead into pages as a business form

Is it possible to scan my business letterhead into pages as a blank form or create a template of it? I want to be able to type right onto my letterhead, instead of typing onto a blank form and then printing onto my letterhead

You can scan your letterhead and place it on a Pages document as a background (just paste it in and send it to back). Or you can create a template that has the image on it. Do be aware that if you use a scan, you are essentially putting a large image on the page, which will greatly increase the file size (and will be at the resolution of the scan). You might have better results re-creating the letterhead from scratch in Pages, using the original high-quality (or better yet, vector) graphics.

  • Envy 4500 returns test page instead of scanned picture. No problem with text documents

Scanning pictures returns printer test page instead of jpeg as expected.

Hello @TEC23 , and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing scan issues.  I would like to help!
I would recommend checking to ensure there is no past alignments sheets on the scan glass from the setup, and perform a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Are scan lines an ongoing problem with Radeon 9700?

  • Not in Internet Explorer, but only in Firefox, I get redirected to sites that I have not selected. MS Tech Support just spent an hour running scans, concluding that the problem was not in IE. They said to contact Firefox.

Before getting off, we ran identical searches, one in IE, one in Firefox. IE got me to Bank of America without redirecting, Firefox redirected me to a wrong site, (bank related, but wrong).

Please see [[Searches are redirected to another site]].

  • PDF Letterhead Text LINE SPACING PROBLEM

I recently upgraded from Pro 8 to X Pro on my Windows XP desktop. With Pro * I used the typewriter fucntion to place text onto my pdf letterhead. I have my letterhead in pdf format on my hardrive. I saved this texted letterhead without a problem, i.e., with the font, paragraphs, and line spacing eaxtly as it was when I creared it. With X Pro, after having placed text in my letterhead using the Typewriter function, my attempt to save the texted in letter head results in a pdf document which does not respect the line spacing I used w=hen creating it. Why am I have this line spacing problem?

    Thank you Michael,
I am simply trying to continue using X Pro the way I used Pro 8. In Pro 8 I
used the Typewriter function to input text to the letter head stored in my
hard drive. Perhaps this is a functionality I lost as a result of the
upgrade to X Pro -- I hope not??
