Scanning on a network copier/scanner
I can print to our Canon 5050 copier/scanner. But when I try to scan using Acrbat XI Pro the Canon is not a choice. It is on out network. Is there a way to scan from the canon using Acrobat XI Pro?
The requisite drivers that Acrobat needs are not available.
Many Canon network printer/scanner models have a built in create PDF feature.
Typically the Canon device can email the PDF to you (after you enter your email as required - see the user manual).
Or, the scanned image output file or created PDF can be placed in a designated, network accessed folder (again, see the user manual).
But, back to your question -- I'm saying "no" -- but, again, do a close read of the user manual.
Be well...

HP 4500 printer/copier/scanner - copier & scanner not working
I have an HP Envy 4500 printer/copier/scanner. When I attempt to copy or scan anything, the printer initially sounds like it is going to work, but the screen just reads "copying" and nothing happens. I then hit cancel and the screen reads "cancelling" and nothing happens. I have to turn off the printer and restart to print normally. How do I restore the copy & scanning functions???
Hi @bonniegirl
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I'm sorry to hear you've had issues using the scanner on your Envy 4500, but I will absolutely do my best to help out
I will suggest first that you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power to function properly. Once that is done though, if you're still unable to copy I will suggest that you update the firmware on the printer, if an update is available. If your printer is connected to your wireless network, please follow this Getting the Latest Firmware and Printer Updates document to get the firmware updated. If you're connected to a computer via a USB cable, then please update via the following link: HP Envy 4500 series firmware update to improve printer performance.
If it doesn't allow you to update the firmware that usually indicates that everything is already up to date.
If the firmware also doesn't seem to change how the scanner functions, let me know and I will look into a reset for your Envy 4500.
Hope to hear back from you soon!

How do a scan a file from my scanner and make it a PDF. . . . I do not see this choice in the Adobe program?
In the past I would simply place a copy of the document on my scanner, then selected create PDF from scanner. However, there is now no create PDF from scanner alternative, option or choice. The only option available is selected file to convert to PDF. what am I to do?That would have been a function of your scanning software. Adobe Reader is only used to view the pdf that your scanning software created.

HP8500A all-in-one can no longer scan thru wireless network but prints fine.
HP8500A all-in-one can no longer scan thru wireless network but prints fine. Have used this device several times over past 2 years on different wireless networks (at home) but usually at some point I lose wireless scan function but maintain wireless Printing. I used to be able to reload the software and resolve the issue but now in this "new network" cannot get wireless scanning to work. Setup software; original software (CD) and current download as well as "Print/Scan Dr" hangs-up at "network check" for hours. Compaq laptop, Dell Laptop, Cell phones and Roku work fine thru network. Scanner works fine with USB to Laptops.
Which model Epsons are they?
I'm assuming you're using Yosemite (OS X 10.10), and that the problem developed when you upgraded from a previous OS.
(Your profile says 10.6.7 BTW).
Maybe the scanning function is not compatible with Yosemite.
You could try a few things:
reset your wifi system:
power down everything: modem, router, computer, printer/scanners.
wait a minute.
power them all up again, in that order: modem, router, computer, printers. Let each power up completely before going on to the next.
try a factor reset on your printer/scanner (if there is such a function). You'll have to check your manual for how. If you do that you'll have to enter the wifi password in your printer/scanner, assuming you have security on your network.
uninstall any printer manufacturer "utilities" that are on your Mac, and try Image Capture again.
If it is a compatible software issue, you could try VueScan, but I've never needed to use it. -
I just purchased and installed a Canon Pixma MG5220 printer/copier/scanner to my PC desktop with Windows XP. It works fine. It has been successfully installed on my network and I am able to use it with my laptop running VISTA. However, I am trying to connect it to my MacBook Pro OS 10.6.8 and I am not having much luck. I can see it as one of the printer choices when attempting to print; however, I get the following message:
NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
I have been searching for answers, but nothing seems to work yet. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks.Let me understand:
- you have purchased named canon, which is conencted to your PC running windows xp
- downloaded driver for win xp, and canon works fine
- canon is connected to that PC via USB
- that Canon is also activated as network printer, by allowing print sharing in windows; how did you set that option?
- now, you are in Mac OS x 10.6.8, downloaded Canon driver for Mac OS X, installed it, detected printer on the network, printer was installed; was it detected as attached to that PC running win XP? or not?
or you set canon by being connected to your mac directly via USB?
Now, there are some questions you should answer as some details are missing, and your initial text is not clear. Can you print if Canon is connected directly to your mac? did you try that? if not, do it before answering. -
Is it possible to scan over a network
Is it possible to scan over a network using Airport Express? I ahve a brother mfc210c.
My brother color laser (MFC9840CDW) is great for scanning over my ethernet network and I've read that it supports wireless, but haven't bothered to turn that function on. Of course it's a network printer, and Brother does provide scanner software for Leopard for my printer. I can also scan from the printer to any machine on the network.
Basically, if you get a machine that's designed to work, then yes, you can scan over a network.
In your case, USB is not a two way connection for a printer from just about any USB Print Server. A lot of times the USB print servers will not even let you read the ink levels. Brother will not waste the time creating network scanning software for a non-network scanner.

File Shares for Copier/Scanner
Hello All,
I'm running Novell Netware 6.5 - SP8 and I'm trying to setup a copier/scanner to work. Here's the thing, if I setup a File Share on one of my Windows Server, then I can connect it to the copier for my users to scan to. What I'd like to do is something similar using my Netware Server instead (because I'd like my users to scan to their home directories).
On the copier, I setup the user to scan to "\\192.168.100.3\JeffScans" - where "JeffScans" is the file share name that I've setup in Windows - I'd like to do this via Netware.
Any help or guidance would be helpful - thanks in advance!!Jstonend,

Does the scanner support NCP Shares? If not, you need to configure and
load CIFS to make the NW server look like a Windows one.

My iPhone 4s won't allow me to scan for any networks and won't even pull up wifi networks near by. How do I fix this?
Settings > General > Network > Reset Network Settings.
If that does not resolve the issue...
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Has any of this been tried? -

Deskjet F4140 won't scan on wireless network
I have a deskjet F4140 connected to my home wireless network using a DLink DP301U wireless router. All computers on the network find the printer OK and print properly, but we are unable to scan anything into any of the computers from the F4140. What research I've done tells me that the DP301U just does not have that capability. None of the routers I have found that list the All-in-One units that they will support show the F4140 as an approved unit. Can anyone tell me what wireless router will work with the F4140 and allow it to scan to the network as well as print? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
John D
Phoenix, AZThanks for the reply Doc. I've been finding that out with my own research. The few that claim to support the scanning functions also do not list my printer as one that will work with them. I have however discovered that there are at least a couple of wireless All-In-One printers that sell in about the same price range as any of the routers that claim to be able to do the job. Given the somewhat limited options, my wife seems to think she can live with having to hook her laptop direct to the printer when she needs to scan something, so for now I guess we will just live with the print only function. If it gets to be too big a hassle, we'll just replace the printer. The F4140 is not exactly a top of the line unit anyway, and we might just end up with something better in the process. Thanks again for your help.

believe me I've tried EVERTHING and my iPad still 'can't scan for wireless networks'. it happened all of a sudden and is really really frustrating. I really don't want to have to drive 40 minutes to the nearest 'genius bar'. I'm about ready to break this thing over my knee. I've even tried the frig trick. it worked for about 30 seconds. and then? nothing. any non sarcastic suggestions?

shared contact book from a networked pc

From what I can find most are having the opposite outcome that the outlook contacts are not showing up.Hi Sean,
As per the description, I understand that a shared contact book cannot show in Windows Fax and Scan. There is not so much we can do on Office side, I'd suggest you check on Windows client side.
This is the forum to discuss questions and feedback for Microsoft Office client. I would suggest you to post in the forum of

I have a scanned doc that I copied onto a word doc. the scanned document text was crooked. I want to straighten the text. How do I do that
If it is an image you could simply click on the image in word and then use the green dot that appears above the image to simply drag and rotate the image around. Alternatively, import it into iPhoto and use the rotation capabilities in that, click edit and then quick fixes and rotate. (Then export back into word).
