SCCM 2012 Software Metering is not working

SCCM 2012 Software Metering is not working in our environment. Other than software metering, reports work just fine.
I have created a few simple software metering rules with “Acrobat.exe” and “Outlook.exe”. Rules are enabled. Rules were on at least 6 months.
When I go to software metering reports, Month parameter value is empty and I can’t choose any value.
I ran runmetersumm.exe on our server, it did not work as intended. :
Summarizing data up to 0 hours old.
File Usage Summary added -1 rows in 0 seconds.
Monthly Usage Summary added -1 rows in 0 seconds.
I am stumped. Why would it add minus rows?
Any ideas how I can make software metering work on our environment?

Finally figured it out.
mtrmgr.log did not find any rules when I ran executables. So I knew it wasn't working on the server side.
After searching for a while, I found the solution from the link below:

1. Deleted RULECHG.RTA under policypv.box folder
2. Removed and recreated metering rules again.
Everything is working again now.

Scripting: browse for data files in a folder and all subfolders below

Hello,
i'm looking for a command to search for data files (*.dat) in a folder and all subfolders below.
I checked out command DirListGet. This command only search in the declared folder and not in the subfolders below.
Anyone an idea?
I don't want to use a loop-structure for finding subfolders and browse for the data files.

Creating folders for data files on a Mac

On a Mac platform, I am interested in trying to programically create
folders (named by the user) for data files to be placed in. How can
this be done? Currently, if I send a path that includes new folders
that don't exist to the Write to Spreadsheet.vi, I get an error 7 (new
files don't exist). However if I manually create the folders before
executing the VI, the files are written correctly. How can I avoid this
last step. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I thank you in
advance.

Help required to understand the concepts for data files in tablespace

Hi Guys!
Conceptual understanding for data files.
A tablespace is having 2 datafiles.
What once the data files will get full? I know we can create data files but what if there is no space on the server for any additional file to be created?
Do we require to make the oldest file offline and move outside the environment?

ThanksIf the datafiles are full, there is not much that you would get from the "defragmentation" of the datafiles. It would be sort of like this in the start,

Then it will be ,
FFFFFFFUUUUUFFFFFUUUUUU
So what you are going to get is something like this, (if would be done),
FFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU
So that's how the datafile would like. But that won't give you much of the space anyways still. The option to add a storage must be there with you. The file being offline wont take away the space that it has already allocated. And moreover, doing so, would also impact the access to the data that it would be storing within it.

SCCM 2012 software metering show impossible numbers

We have started software metering for AutoCAD. The issue is is for some PC it is showing that the total usage duration is more than total minutes available in the month. i.e.
for a PC it is showing

I want to know how it is possible that the total usage is more than available in a month. i.e. 24*31*60= 44640
due to this the metering is giving more utilization of license than available.

Change default app for DAT files as the su

Hey
I do a lot of work in the terminal and it's sometimes convenient to be "su" permanentely instead of login in and out of the root account. The problem is whenever I try to open a DAT file, it tries to open it with, of all the apps in my Mac, HP Photosmart or something like that -.-
I've done the "cmd+i -> change all" several times now and it only worked for the non-root user...
Does anyone know how to change the deafult app for DAT files as the su (maybe the command line(s) for doing so)??
It's not like it's a life or death thing, it's just that it's a bit annoying having to constantly write "-a Microsoft\ Excel" whenever I want to open such a file (which can be several dozens of times in an afternoon and since the names of the files may change it won't suffice to 'arrow up' to the line previously used =\)

I sometimes need it 'cause of permission issues of the files...
(E.g., Some file is sent to me or I'm logged as su to install something using ports and compile/run programs and the output files generated are only readable/editable as su... As I said, it's not a life/death thing, just wanted to know if anyone knew how to fix it once and for all )

SCUP 2011 would be the way to do it or a package/program. There are commercial software solutions that plugins to configuration Manager like Secunia

I am had created security DL in AD for machine to deploy software and trying to link in SCCM 2007 with collection but could not

Go to properties of you collection and add a new membership rule to add the security group
SCCM use discovery methods to get information from AD. Make sure AD system discovery and AD security group discovery are enabled for the SCCM site. Once you add machines to the security group, you need to wait till the next discovery cycle is completed.
The discovery cycle runs on a schedule set by SCCM administrator.

Software Metering for SQL Server installations

I created a software metering rule for "sqlservr.exe" file. I was able to get information, but this information included SQL Express, which is something I don't need.
So, my question is, how do you guys meter the SQL Server 2xxx installations in your environment?

I may have done a poor job at explaining what kind of report/metering or inventory that I'm trying to get.
Something like this:
SERVER1 MS SQL Server 2008 R2
SERVER2 MS SQL Server 2012
SERVER3 MS SQL Server 2008 SP1

I thought I could achieve this kind of report using metering.

I have checked dba_data_files for autoextend size. it shows me default autoextend size. one of my data file is set to 50mb autoexted. Where can I find actual autoextend size?

SCCM 2012 Software Metering - Status Message ID

I am planning to
configure “Automatic Software Uninstall”
based on software metering rules as outlined in the following blogs.

However, the account
is currently installing software based on AD Software install groups.
If a user does not
use the software the software metering rule will ensure the machine is
populated into the application uninstall collection. However, (problem) the
machine account is still in the Install AD group and therefore, the uninstall
will not occur, (as install deployment takes precedence over uninstall
deployment)
I could configure
the install collection to exclude the uninstall collection, which would allow
the software to uninstall. But, then once the machine automatically gets
removed from the uninstall collection the software will install again as the
machine is still in the AD group.
Solution: Remove the machine account from the
AD install Group.
Question: What the best automated approach to
remove the machine from AD install group. I am thinking along the lines of
using Status Message ID’s based on the metering rule which causes a script to
fire and remove the machine from the AD group.
Would I have to
create a status message Rule for each application? Or is it possible to create
a generic one that can be leveraged for each application / metering rule
combination?
What Status Message ID should I use ?
I would appreciate

Ms access 2007 between query for date

Dear All,
I am using the below query to fetch records from a table between two dates
select * from tablename where Format([VisitDate],"Short Date") >=Format(#01/10/2014#,"Short Date") and Format([VisitDate],"Short Date") <=Format(#31/10/2014#,"Short Date")
I want records between 1st Oct to 31st Oct only, but the above query shows Nov and December data also. Please let me know where I am going wrong.

The Format function returns a string expression, so the comparison is on that basis not on the date value. You do not need to worry about the format at all as the date/time data type in Access is implemented as a 64 bit floating point number.
You can see it in whatever date/time format you wish, but the underlying value is always the same. When you include a date literal in an SQL statement or in VBA code it must be either in US short date format (mm/dd/yyyy), or in an internationally unambiguous
format. The ISO standard format for date notation of YYYY-MM-DD is a good choice. So you query would be:
SELECT *
FROM tablename
WHERE VisitDate >= #2014-10-01#
AND VisitDate < #2014-11-01#;
Note that the range is defined as on or after the start date and before the day following the end date. This ensures that all relevant rows are returned. As there is no such thing in Access as a 'date value', but only a 'date/time value' it is possible
that a 'date' of 31 October 2014 could have a non-zero time of day element unless you have taken steps in the table definition to specifically exclude values with a non-zero time of day. Such date/time values would not fall within a range ending <=
#2014-10-31#, so would not be returned by the query. Defining the end of the range with < #2014-11-01# ensures that such rows are returned.

SCCM 2007 SQL Query for Advertisement Creation Date

I have been asked if I can create a Query to list all advertisements that have been created in a 60 day period and the User that created them.
I have tried a couple of SQL codes but I cant quite get the syntax to work.
Here is what I have so far, but I still don't know if any of it is usable:

I would like to put some of my school document files and architectural drawings onto the Zen Xtra as a Hard Dri've, but do I need to install the CD that came with it before I can actually put files onto it's

Unfortunately, the Zen does not show up as a dri've when you plug it into the computer (it's not just the xtra, the touch doesn't either), I understand the plight that you're going through. You will need to use the intallation disk to install Nomad Explorer because you can do a transfer like that. I shows up as an item in my computer, Once it finds the player there will be a music folder and a data folder, just open the data folder and drag and drop. Hope this hel

I have a school laptop where all my files are but unfortunately I don't have admin rights so I can't intall the software/drivers so I use my home network and cds as well as my flash dri've to move any new files over to my home desktop to transfer to my zen. It works well for a weekly backup, that sort of thing...Sorry but you'll have to use the install disk. As long as your an admin, no prob.
