SCCM client re-assign

Hi,
We have two primary SCCM 2007 sites managing over 7K clients. for one of primary server performance issue, we want all clients to be managed by single primary site.
By moving boundaries from ABC to XYZ site, do you think that client will assign to XYZ site automatically? or we have to manually assign clients from ABC to XYZ site?
Note:
- Client push not enabled.
- Active directory schema extended.
Thanks in advance....!

No they won't. Client's never automatically reassign themselves to a different primary site.
Are the sites in the same hierarchy? If so, then you can send a script to them to assign them:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc146558.aspx
If they are not in the same hierarchy, your only supported choice is to deploy the agent again:

  • SCCM Client on Site Server from Different Site within Same Domain

Our desktop team has a site to manage desktops.
We have a site to manage servers.
Do you see any issue with the Server site managing the Desktop teams servers as their clients?
In other words, desktop wants us to patch and manage their SCCM servers with our site. Placing the SCCM client on their servers pointing to our site.
    Thanks for any gotchas!

Are you talking about different (standalone primary ConfigMgr) sites (e.g. site abc is used for managing desktops and xyz for servers)? And now you want to assign the ConfigMgr clients (on servers used in site xyz) to site abc? This does work, but I am not
    sure if it is supported.

    Any idea

  • SCCM client is connecting to the wrong SCCM site

We have a domain controller say TEST1, on which we have 4 SCCM servers. The SCCM’s have the following site codes
    PR1, PR1, PR3 and PR4
We had a Group Policy for client installation created for site ‘PR1’, under ‘Group Policy Management' console in Active directory.
On all sites we have enabled ‘Client Push Installation’. All discovered same computers from TEST1 domain controller.
Now from any SCCM (say ‘PR2’) if we try to push client, the SCCM client machine points to the site code ‘PR1’ only.
Now we have removed the Group Policy and ran ‘gpupdate’.
In Active Directory we don’t see the site information of ‘PR1’ any more.
In the ‘PR1’ site we have removed the overlapping boundaries. We still see the problem.
We want to get the clients of PR2 site connect to the same, and install client successfully. Any help on this would be really
    helpful.

    Hi,
The GPO writes the value of the site name the client should use and the values are not removed when you remove the GPO, so you need to clear the registry from those keys to be able to assign it PR2.

  • How to install sccm client on bulk collections using push installation

Unfortunately I did something and received the following description:-
How to know/reproduce the following scenario by installing sccm client on bulk collections in SCCM 2012R2?
"User ***** requested that the CCRs will be generated for collection “All Windows Client Systems (P0100015), The SMS Provider did not generate CCRs for all the system resources in this collection.
Possible cause: some system resources are not assigned to the current site, and you chose to insta
Il clients only on system resources that are
    assigned to current site.
Another possible cause: Some system resources do not have Microsoft Windows NT operating system
    or above installed.
    Message ID: 30110"

Ok. Some of your clients are not covered under any site assignment boundary, hence you are getting that error. Would recommend you to select "Install the client from a specified site" and select the Primary site. If your boundary groups for content
are configured fine then the client will be installed from the appropriate site for each machine you are pushing the client to.

I have tried everything. Repairing WMI, uninstalling, reinstalling SCCM client. Recreating WMI repository completely. Unjoining and rejoining to the domain.
Everything I read online suggests a problem with WMI, but I've repaired/rebuilt time after time without success.
    What should i Do now.

  • SCCM Client Deployment Query

    Hi,
Customer has already deployed the SCCM 2012 Sp1. They have multiple domains and network segments spread across various geographical locations. Some of the endpoints (having windows OS) at various geographic location has same IP address assigned. The SCCM
is not able to push the clients to these endpoints.
We thought of assigning the additional unique IP address to the endpoint device and install agent manually.
How would things work in case of SCCM client having multiple IP address?
Can we hardcode the IP address to SCCM client in SCCM database?
Is there any alternate solution for managing these clients?
    Regards,
    Milind Dhuri.

Customer do not want to change the IP address.
Alternatively thought of managing these client using IBCM with limited feature functionality.
Any thoughts on the same or any other alternatives ?
how will using IBCM help in this situation?
Having the same IP address on the network, will cause problems. It will get worse if you use proceed DPs on any segment with duplicate subnets.

  • New SCCM clients don't communicate with SCCM servers

    Hi,
I've got an infrastructure of 4 SCCM 2012 R2 servers, 1 Primary in US, 3 secondary in Europe, Asia and US again.
As I discovered, European clients visible in SCCM console as "active" in Client Activity are discussing with the SCCM. All inactives or new clients are detected but don't receive any policies or can't be remoted by SCCM (RDP is working).
I checked the log files, the boundaries, the certificates, the sites, MPs, client settings, DNS and I don't see any problems.
We don't have firewall between sites and there is a GPO disabling the firewall on clients, so I don't believe it could be that issue.
I tried to Telnet the SCCM server from a "blank" client on port 10123 and it's reachable.
as far as I can see, other sites are fine, but still waiting feedback from local IT colleagues.
    what else could I try?
    thanks for helping.

This typically means the client's are NOT falling within the boundaries of you site. AKA, the IP range not added to CM12, DHCP scopes changed, AD subnet changed, etc.
I disagree. Boundaries do not come into play in that scenario. The client (once assigned to a site! And that can also be done manually without any boundaries) will happily retrieve policies even without any boundaries defined.
I agree that once they are assigned to a site they don't need any boundaries but are the clients assigned? Are they using auto assigned them?  If you are using auto assigned and the boundaries are wrong then they will only see the two items.
So the question is are they assigned to the site? (Just because they show up within the console do not mean that they are assigned)
IMO the problem sound like they are using auto assignment, hence the question about boundaries.

  • Trouble with SCCM Client Push

I am having issues with pushing the SCCM client. I am able to push the client just fine as it installs OK but it will not assign the site code. When I try to manually enter the site code I get the "Failed to Update Site Assignment" error. However,
when I log off of my domain admin account and log on as the local administrator I can manually enter the site code and it accepts it. My domain account is added as a local administrator..
The old Network Admin who setup most of SCCM in not with us anymore so I am in charge of figuring out where he left off at and getting everything working. From what I can put together we have extended AD and the System Management folder is populated. I have
ran a query in AD to ensure we do not have any over lapping boundaries. As far as I know we installed SCCM 2012 fresh and did not upgrade from 2007. I have checked our GPO and have not found any that are trying to push the site code.
I have copy and pasted a couple logs below that may help troubleshoot. I have googled for days now how to fix the issues I see in the logs but haven't found anything. Please Help!!

I had the same Problem with the client version thing. I had to do following Steps to fix it:
    1. If you made an Extension in the Active Directory for your SCCM Installation just open ADSIedit go To CN System=>CN System Management remove the Object CN=SMS-MP..... (don't worry it will be recreated by
the sccm server hourly. if not check rights on the object (the sccm computer object need to have rights to write into the System Management Object)
    2. Just wait until next morning! The Server should updated all Version Numbers by itself!
    MCP, MCDST, MCTS x 6, MCITP x 3

  • Sccm client push installation problem

in my company 22000 users and install sccm 2012(1 primary site in main dc  and 4 site system server in branch  )
i enable automatic site-wide client push installation . only sccm client installed in 11000 computers during 7 month and  increment installation it very slowly 2-10 per month
how i install  svvm client in another computers automaticly
    please help me

Yes. You can also manually create boundaries. Each client must fall under a boundary (eg IP Subnet, IP Range, AD site). You need to check that all are covered. Boundaries have to be added to boundary groups which are configured for site assignment.

  • Site Code for SCCM Clients installed from Secondary Site Server

    Hello,
We have started the implementation of SCCM 2012 R2 at our network. We have setup a Primary site (JFO) server & pushed out the installation of SCCM clients to the local subnet. Things went fine.
We have installed a Secondary site (ATC) at a remote network. We have tested client installation in the installation wizard we specify to install the client from the Secondary server. When SCCM client installed from the Secondary server, the site
code that appears on the client in the control panel->Configuration Manager client settings is the site code of the primary site and not the secondary site.
    Is this behavior is normal

Ultimately, secondary sites do *not* manage clients and so will never be assigned to the secondary site. However, do note that resources in the console that represent systems that do not have the client agent may show the site code of the secondary site
if they fall within a boundary group associated with that secondary site. This is done so that client push can be initiated from the correct site. More gory details at http://blog.configmgrftw.com/secondary-sites-and-boundary-groups/

  • Sccm client v4 wont install and install client v5 - SCCM 2012 R2

Hi, I am coming to the end of a SCCM 2012 R2 client deployment. I have come across 2 machines (so far)that have the SCCM 2007 (v4) client installed, and although the task is set to uninstall from the server the v5 client will not installed. iI have been
    using this an as template:
    http://eskonr.com/2010/11/sccm-client-installation-troubleshooting-steps-check-list/
I have ran the install seperatelty from the server (boxed ticked - Uninstall existing Config Manager client) - No Install
The ccmsetup folder is created - c$\Windows\ccmsetup, but only has 3 files, no logs folder
Other machines on site has the v5 client
Checked ping from client to server and vice versa (no firewall enabled)
    Boundaries/Schema/DNS - ok
    Checked all local event logs.
i know you can run the local uninstall command, but as the network is vast i would like to fix to come from the server, rather than having to do this on the client.
Any tips would be great going forward.
    SCCM 2012 R2 - Windows 7 Enterprise SP1

    Hi,
I ensured the account used for the install was in the local admins group.
From the ccm.log on the server, i got these erros, been googling but nothing yet:
    ---> ERROR: Unable to start service "ccmsetup" on machine "LCD12121", error = 1075.    SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER    22/10/2014 12:01:43    1460 (0x05B4)
    ---> Failed to install CCM Client Bootstrap component on client (1075)    SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER    22/10/2014 12:01:43    1460 (0x05B4)
    Execute query exec [sp_CP_SetLastErrorCode] 2097153910, 1075    SMS_CLIENT_CONFIG_MANAGER    22/10/2014 12:01:43    1460 (0x05B4)
Also, is there a way to run a report on which machines dont have the sccm client/install issues?
    Thanks

  • PKI SCCM Client Certificate Template not viewable by Windows 7 and Server 2008 workgroup machines.

    Hello everyone,
I’m having issues with workgroup computers, not domain systems when I request a certificate.
It’s extremely weird. It has something to do with Windows 7 and Windows 2008 machines. In 2003 server I can request a certificate manually with certutil and it see the certificate template. I copy over the exact command
on windows 7 and it can’t see the certificate template.
    I have the following configuration:
    CA Enterprise
I have created the SCCM Client Certificate
I have created the SCCM Web Server Certificate
I have created the SCCM Distribution Point Certificate
    GPO is configured
SCCM 2012 R2 CU2 configured to do HTTP and HTTPS
    Installed SCCM Client Certificate
    Installed SCCM Web Server Certificate
    Installed Distribution Point Certificate
Deployed to a domain computer good on PKI
    Workgroup Computers:
I’m having issues with deploying certificates
    Windows 7 –
    (ERROR) not successful
    Windows Server 2008 R2 –
    (ERROR) not successful
    Windows Server 2003 - successful
    Windows XP – successful
How I’m getting the certs for the clients is by utilizing the following scripts from this URL.
    http://www.ithierarchy.com/ITH/node/48
I did find a couple of errors in the code, but if it’s working on my Server 2003, then it should work on the others. Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 seem to have the same issue. The error I’m getting is the following:
Command line requesting the cert ---- CertReq –new –f testcomputer.home.pvt.inf c:\client\testcomputer.home.pvt.req
    Error --- Template not found.
    SCCMClientCertificate (this is my template)

Just to give an update on what’s happening with this. I found out this format is unsupported by MS with Windows Vista and newer OS’s.
Instead you must utilize two other additional roles on the CA to have this work. The caviate is, I’m down to the testing and it’s not working as in the document. I have MS Support
working with me to resolve this issue since it was written by MSFT.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2010/05/25/enabling-cep-and-ces-for-enrolling-non-domain-joined-computers-for-certificates.aspx
and use this doc for similar workgroup computers for rolling out certs. This was written for RT devices, however, it should work once I get to that point.

  • SCCM Task Sequence no longer installs SCCM Client

    I am using SCCM 2007 R3 with SP2 and MDT 2010
My task sequences were all working fine until one of the other SCCM admins "Synced all sites" by transferring the site settings of one site to all the other sites.  How this broke OSD I don't know.
At this point the best I can tell is that the SCCM client is not being installed in the Task Sequence and so when it reboots to the installed OS there is no longer any communication and the task sequence fails with an error of "Windows could not configure
one or more system components. To install Windows, restart the computer and then restart the installation.
I have run out of ideas to fix it so I am asking for the collective knowledge of the Interwebs for help.

Please post the contents of C:\Windows\ccmsetup\logs\ccmsetup.log in order for us to help you further
