SCEP Definition Updates not updating

Hi!
Our topology consists in one Head Quarter Office Server and 6 Branch Office Servers.
All systems are updated, except for the systems on one Branch Office.
I have checked step by step the blog http://blogs.msdn.com/b/scstr/archive/2012/05/31/how-to-scep-amp-settings-amp-automatic-deploymnet-rule.aspx
Its everything fine, but the systems persist not updated on that branch office.
When I checked the Content Status of FEP Definition Update Deployment Package, it has a status of "In Progress".
The target server does have enought disk space to receive the content, once I created a prestaged content file and it has about 600MB.
I removed that content location and then distributed again. How can I follow the logs of that distribution?
Any suggestion on checking this problem out?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
What's the content status of the update package? In progress?
1.You could try to increase the number of Maximum threads per package in
Software distribution component properties under
Sites ->choose your site -> Configure site components -> Software Distribution.

http://silentcrash.com/2013/08/packages-content-status-stuck-on-in-progress-in-sccm-2012/
2.You could also try to cancel the package distribution, then prestage the content.

  • SCEP definitions do not update on Secondary site server

Issue:  Win 2008R2 server - Secondary site server - SCEP is installed, but it cannot find/download/install any virus definitions.  When attempting to hit "update" within the SCEP console, it returns no results.  When attempting to
check online for Win Updates via control panel, no virus def updates are found (but 11 different updates are found for .NET and other things).
The error that is thrown in the Windows Updates log when attempting to update through the SCEP console is Error: 0x80248014. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2832355/en-us  Although this
applies to Windows 8, I still checked the settings per the article.  My settings check out okay.
No error is thrown when attempting to check for updates via Windows Update in the control panel.  It finds 11 available updates (none of which are SCEP related), and displays them properly.
This server has the CCM2012 client installed, and the Anti-Malware policy has been successfully applied.  We have a separate Anti-Malware policy that is applied only to our SCCM site servers.  The policy indicates that all virus defs are to be
obtained from Microsoft online Update.  Our primary site server does not display this problem.  It is updating automatically with no issues.
It is possible to manually download and apply the latest virus definitions by visiting the MS virus defs site and running the manual update installer.  I have only done this to ensure that the virus defs are somewhat current.
Steps taken:  I have removed SCEP and re-installed it.  I have also attempted the Windows Update "Fix-it" found here.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058
Error 0x80248014 persists when attempting an update through the SCEP console, and no SCEP related updates are found by Microsoft online Update.
Any suggestions on what I might try next?

    Thank you for the reply.
Well, the issue with this secondary site server isn't 100% fixed, but your line of questions pushed me in a direction that allowed me to put a Band-Aid on it.  That said, it is updating the virus defs - although not exactly as it should be.  But,
this is good enough for me now.
To answer some of your questions that seem relevant.  This is a fairly new SCCM setup. Our implementation of SCCM currently is not configured to handle any Software Updates yet.  We still rely on a separate WSUS server in our environment for all
WinUpdates (including SCEP/FEP).  With that in mind, the Anti-Malware policy that is applied to both SCCM servers use the following 2 locations in order for obtaining SCEP updates:
    1) MS online Updates  2)WSUS
As mentioned previously, the secondary site never detected updates via SCEP console or WinUpdates via Control Panel.  But this did not explain why it could not retrieve from WSUS.
A quick look at our WSUS setup shows that auto-approval is configured for all of our workstations, but not our servers.  I corrected this within WSUS - Forced GPUpdate on the site server - ran wuauclt /detectnow on the site server - Now, the virus defs
were found and could be installed.  (I'll have to wait a little while to see if it continues to update automatically as it should)
So, as I mentioned above - the big problem of not updating at all is corrected, however the issue still remains "why are no updates found from MS Updates online?"
At this point - I don't know, but as long as it updates in some fashion, I'm good with that.

  • SCEP standalone client not updating

    Hi All
I have standalone SCEP installed clients which do not reboot, however I have noticed that the clients are not updating their definitions they have been sitting there 5 days now and no updates applied.
The policy is to look at a UNC path followed by Microsoft but the client does not. The Definition Update Policy is also set to check for definitions everyone 4 hours, my understanding was if it cannot find definitions at the UNC path then it should go to
Microsoft to receive the updates.  I have also set it to force a definition update if the computer is offline for more than two consecutive scheduled updates.
    Any ideas please ?

How did you deploy policy for them?
Are you sure policies been applied to these endpoints?
Try change priority to first check Microsoft Update website and then UNC and see whether it makes any different or not?

  • SCCM 2012 :::WSUS Getcookie error blocking SCEP definition Scan and updates

Please  advise me what could be reasons for this issue and how to resolve it.   because of this  client is  not able to scan and  retreive updates against SUP and SCEP Defintion is not getting updated. a few set of servers are facing
this issue. Another set of servers( sccm client is working fine against same SUPs.

That does not cause any issues IMHO. There should be another error later in the log. Also examine U*.log in %windir%\ccm\logs)

  • HT5037 iPhoto Updater not updating

OK, so after migrating my apps & files from my old G5 to my brand new Mac Mini (OS 10.8.2), iPhoto won't recognize my old files and says I need the updater. So I get the updater, install it, and iPhoto still won't recognize my old files, again tells me I need the updater. I mean, I never used iPhoto before, always Photoshop except for one time I needed to quickly print a 4x6 and used iPhoto; of course, my brother-in-law now wants more copies and I can't get the new iPhoto to open (updater!) and I can't find the file on my HDs. ???

You have to run the updater, not just install it. So, Applications/Utilities and double click on it...

  • Software updates not updating

I haven't been able to run any software updates since before Christmas! I clearly have a very long list of updates and every time I try to update, my macbook will restart but will not update anything! I'm stuck on Max OS X 6.8! HELP!

What are you trying to update? Write out the list. 10.6.8 is the highest you get in Snow Leopard. To go to the next OS either 10.7 or 10.8 you need to purchase the upgrades.

  • Software update not updating Airport Utility

So I'm trying to solve itunes/airport express problems after an itunes update, and every time I access the airport utility it tells me there's a new version available (5.5.1), and to click update. So I click update and update wants to give me safari and mobilme, but there's no airport utility update in the window. ***?

PebmarshSteve has an iMac G5 & 10.5.x is as far as he can go, but you can go to 10.6.x cheaper than 1.5.x.
Tiger/10.4.11 isn't likely to ever see another update.
Though I'd suggest you max your RAM out.
    Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...
    General requirements
    * Mac computer with an Intel processor
    * 1GB of memory (I say 2GB at least)
    * 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)
    * DVD drive for installation
    * Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.
    * Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.
Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...

  • Ipod updater not updating

I have a 20 gb ipod that's about a year old. I updated iTunes to the very newest version, then updated my iPod software, and my computer went through the motions of updating the software but as far as I know nothing has been updated on my iPod. A warning box appears every time I open iTunes claiming that I can't add music purchased from the store to my iPod until the iPod isi updated, but now when I try to return to re-download the software update it doesn't allow me to do so. I tried it from the website and I wasn't able to complete the process to update the software; when I went to system preferences to check the status of the software I had apparently updated earlier, it declared it null. How can I fix this?

I'm having a similar problem. I downloaded the updater and got the new iTunes software but not any new software updated on my iPod. When I sync my iPod (15GB v. 2.2 model about 1.3 years old) I get an error message about songs not being transferred due to my iPod software being too "old".
I noticed that my audiobooks genre is empty on the iPod meaning that they didn't transfer at all... some other songs that I purchased on iTunes didn't transfer either (Van Halen for instance).
The most irritating thing is that before I updated the software, everything worked just fine.
What do I do in order to get the new software to load onto my iPod?
One thing which may be of importance with this (though it's a guess at best) is that I bought this iPod before I switched to a Mac from a PC. I first used the iPod with a PC and then in order to not lose all the songs I bought on iTunes, etc. I downloaded iPodrip software in order to move songs from my iPod to my new Mac (because it was not going to let me link to another computer for "piracy" reasons I suppose).
When I look on my iPod under the About menu choice it says the format is for Windows, but I don't use it on that computer anymore.
    Please advise...
    Thanks a lot in advance...!

  • Updater not updating

    Hello
My updating is not working, either through Version Cue (4.0.1) or though the Help>Updates... menu.  I do have all the applications selected in Adobe Updater Preferences, but none of the applications themselves are updating.  They are all stuck at x.0.  I did update PS to 11.0.1 through a download, but I dread updating all my "suitemates" that way.  I do have auto check deselected as I prefer to check manually, and I am running 10.6.2.
Any idea why this would be happening?
    Thanks,
    Dave

    Hello,

  • Front Row Update not updating?

I downloaded/installed latest update: 2.1.7. The problem is, when I check the version number in the Finder, FR shows up as 1.0! I've applied the update installer 3 times - still 1.0.
Info says- Created: Wednesday , Oct 10, 2007 Modified: Monday, Dec 15, 2008! So, did the update take or not???

Even though this is closed, this is for others who see this thread.
I like Douglas McLaughlin's explanation here: Re: Front Row 1.0 or 2.1.6?? which basically says the version in the Applications folder is just a Launcher for the real one in the System folder. It was needed so folks without a Remote could launch Front Row.
    Thanks Doug.

  • Automatic Update not updating

When I installed Flash Player 11.2.202.228, I selected the "Install updates automatically" option, fully expecting that this would install updates automatically.
Today, I decided to check the status of my plugins on the Mozilla Plugin Check site. "Potentially vulnerable plugins: Shockwave Flash: Outdated version". Looking at the download page, I find that the latest version is 11.2.202.233, while I still have 228 installed.
OK, maybe the browser needs to be restarted to pick up the updates. Nope - restarting Firefox makes no difference.
Maybe I need to manually run the automatic update service? Nope - it starts and stops immediately without downloading any updates.
Maybe I need to hack the registry to force an update? Nope - deleting the HKLM\Software\SysWOW64\Macromedia\FlashPlayer\LastUpdateCheck entry and running the automatic update service just recreates the entry with a new value. No new version of Flash.
So what's the point in yet another Adobe automatic update service that doesn't update anything, let alone automatically???

OK, I'm finally up to date. I had to manually run the updater three times: the first time, it updated the ActiveX files; the second time, it updated the plugin files, but uninstalled the plugin from Firefox; the third time, it reinstalled the plugin.
