Schedule a report with passing range parameters

I have wrote a program to run the crystal report in BO server and email to the user. The program can pass the parameter to the crystal report and generate different result/ report. It works well with string parameters, int parameter and date parameter. But when I pass the date range parameters, the CR in BO always displays error "Information is needed before this report can be processed. ", and in the CR history, the Parameters field is "No Parameter"
For single parameters, I will use the setValue() of IReportParameterSingleValue to set the param value
IReportParameterSingleValue v = prompt.getCurrentValues().addSingleValue();
v.setValue(paramValueArray);
but I dunno how to set the date range value. Anyone ve ideas on this?

Hi,
I am new to this environment. I would like to try and schedule a report monthly with dates (that will change from month to month). ie first and last day of previous month. Is there an easy way of achieving this automatically?

Needed to do the same thing, with lots of different date ranges - month to date, year to date, last month, last week, fiscal year, etc. Came up with a solution that takes a bit to set-up but then is re-usable and flexible. I'll do my best to try and explain. 1) Within the universe, created a "CurrentDate" derived table that calculates various points in time (yesterday, first of the week, last of the week, first of last month, last of last month, etc.). Because the product would not let me use an unlinked table in calculations, I used a common table as the "from" in the SQL and included a common identifier so I could link the derived table to an existing table in the universe - I selected a small one with only a few records. I am thinking to put a text property or button below the report and is it possible to attach the report values with current prompt selection and the request is attached to the in delivery content section which means user need not pick up the delivery content only he has to schedule current report only by clicking the link or button? Can I have script for that.
To make it simple If I am the user I would like to see following:
1. I go to dashboard page and select the prompt and get the report result.
2. I have link or button below to schedule.
3. I press the button I go to delivers section.
4. I have current report attached to the delivery content with default selection or current selection.
5. I modify other parameters and schedule.

Schedule a report with parameter

Hope this isn't a silly question - I'm very much a new boy to Business Objects.
I have a report that the user wants to have run weekly. However, the report prints weekly data forecasts for the current week and for a number of weeks to come - probably 12. The only way I've found to limit the query is using an actual date prompt when running the report to restrict the query range.
I could probably schedule individual occurences, but this would be quite an overhead. Is there a way to schedule the report and pass in a parameter of (today + 12 weeks) or something similar?

There are a couple of approaches that you can take, but both require some assistance from your universe designer. For the first approach, your universe designer can create date-based objects like "today" or "start of this week". These objects would be based on database functions (like sysdate for Oracle or getdate() for SQL Server) that return the date of "today" and perform other operations on that value to turn it into various date ranges. You can then make conditions on these objects.
Another approach is to create what I (and others) call a "Magic date" which is used in prompts. When the report is run interactively you can enter any date you want. When the report is scheduled, the "magic date" value is entered instead. By using this technique you can have one report that runs both interactively and in batch. The magic date is converted to today's date when the report is run, so as each week expires and a new week starts the report will run for that new week automatically. Yet the report can still be run interactively by entering any other date.

Enhancing Customer Reports with Commands and Parameters

I am implementing the mentioned tutorial. I have succesfully deployed the AccessStatisticApplication PAR on portal. While scheduling the report from Content Management -> Reports -> Running Reports, it is giving error "Can't find bundle for base name com.sap.netweaver.km.stats.reports.DocumentAccessReport, locale en_US". Has anyone faced the problem, can anyone please help to remove this runtime error.

True, the application property service is apparently not to be used for a real-life scenario
You can definitely use the application property service in production scenarios - it's used by other components in a standard KM install, i.e. out-of-the-box.
in our case it forced the server down with deadlocks. 
This should definitely not happen! Did you get SAP support to take a look at this? Was it the most popular documents report that caused this, or some other custom code? There should be no such problem with this service, since it's been around for quite some time and in production use.

Even if the code sample is not to be used for real-life scenarios it could at least make use of something else than the application property service which isnt't optimal for this use.

The application property service is good for a lot of scenarios, so it is realistic to use in in real-life scenarios. The only time I have seen this approach (storing the number of hits on documents in the database) fail is in very high-load scenarios.

BI: Virtual Provider for ECC Report with same selection parameters

Dear all,
I have attached screen shot of ECC report selection screen with contain Material, Plant and Dates. As report is bit complex and I need to use just ITAB (internal table) of it for further use in BEx Query and for Dashboard purposes.
Problem: I need to call this report by creating Virtual Provider in BI so that I get data from ECC at runtime as it is shares report so I can't able to save any data in transparent table as report calculated opening balances at runtime.
It is possible for me by using function module i can get itab by submit return and then create Data Source for it ?
As i make copy of FM ZZRSAX_BIW_GET_SIMPLE i cannot use submit there due to OPEN CURSOR mechanism there.
Kindly anyone suggest how it is possible to call report with same selection parameters for creation of virtual provider.

Problem scheduling webi reports with XI3.1 pending forever

Hello,
I've got a problem scheduling webi reports with XI3.1 scheduler.
After confiming scheduling job (loggin in with "administrator" user), status remains "pending" forever(using Infoview or CMC).
I tried different job recurrence a modalities (attachment formats, destination user etc).
I also try to add (-javaArgs "Xmx900m,Xincgc,server") wich is the SAP solution found on its portal but it does not work.
I use BO XI 3.1 in Windows 2003 server, after the install I reduced the maximum memory of Java in the tomcat 5.5.2 server from 1024 to 512 because the server never started with the initial size.
Please I need Help.

Scheduled WebIntelligence reports remain stuck in 'pending' status after installing Microsoft windows patches of April 2009. Restarting the Adaptive Job Server, Central Management Server or Server Intelligence Agent has no effect.
The Event Viewer logs show the following entry: Unable to start the sub-process (Job Server Child). Cause : Couldn't get IJob interface or writing IAudit: Pipe exception. Reason: jobserverchild (WebIJavaSchedulingService ReplicationSchedulingService, 0, Timeout waiting for Child [4716] to register ([120]seconds).
Reproducing the Issue
Install Business Objects Enterprise XI 3.x on a French Windows 2003 SP2 32bits server
Install the following Microsoft windows update patches of April 2009:

With Microsoft windows patches of April 2009, the maximum Heap Size for java processes has been reduced to under 1000MB.
Resolution
Apply the following steps to fix the issue:
Launch the Central Management Console
Select Servers
Right click on <server_name>.Adaptive Job Server and select Properties
Add the switch -javaArgs "Xmx900m,Xincgc,server" in the command line of the server
Click on Save and Close
Restart the <server_name>.Adaptive Job Server

How to schedule a report with dynamic parameters

We need to schedule a Webi report with dynamic parameters then email the different result to different email groups. Is it possible to do this in scheduler? Please advise. Thanks.

there are 2 schedulers
1st CMS
the reports which does not have any input parameters, only then t can be scheduled in CMS
2nd in Infoview
if report has input parameters and if you want to schedule it, then you may need to schedule the report from Infoview
To have a email notification
configure the SMTP server in report JOB Server

Batch Scheduling of reports with parameters

I've been searching the doc and have come up empty so far on this -- how do I take a Discoverer workbook/sheet that accepts a customer account parameter and set it up as a scheduled report?
The trick here is that I want to schedule 100s of these things so that reports are generated for a large number of customer accounts, but not all customer accounts (there are many thousands of customer accounts).

Yah! this looks good. Other way would be to use the Schedule command line parameter itself. For example you can have a form application taking the user parameter for individual user plus they can enter the schedule parameters also or you can hardcode them . Then you send this request to Report server which run the jobs at schedule time.
FYI, in report 9i there is a new feature called event triggers also. You can run a report with any event trigger from the database. This may be useful for the solution you have suggested, suppose you wish to run the report as soon as user updates data in database, this even t triggers can be used.

Scheduling WEBI Objects with date as parameters in InfoView

Hi,
We want to know if it is possible to schedule a WEBI Report in InfoVIew passing as parameters the actual day of execution. For example, if we scheduled a report that will run every day, we will want that every instance generated containing the data of the execution date, but when we tried to schedule this execution inside the InfoView the only options that we have is to select one date or a list of dates that will be equal for every execution of the report.
Any ideas?

For oracle you can use hard coded 'sysdate' or 'todays date' as a default text in the prompt and then at the back-end you have to decode it and and write the query that will return the todays system date.
Here is the format not the exact code:
Table.Date = decode(@prompt(.....),'sysdate',query that will fetch the todays date)
OR
Table.Date = @prompt(.....)

Run Report with Pass Number and Varchar Lexical Parameter values

Due to an urgent change required to a report I would most appreciate it if you can please advise me if it is possible to get this report working by either passing in multiple lexical parameters or one signle lexical parameter when calling the SRW.RUN_REPORT command with the following methods:
Firstly: When calling report with a run_no and spr_cd passed in through one lexical:
cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
CP_L_PARAM=RUN_NO=TO_NUMBER(28) AND SPR_CD=SUPP1
Both with a TO_NUMBER and without, whereby I attempt to do a SUBSTR within the query of the called report to derive the RUN_NO Oracle Reports fails to accept the SUBSTR.
Secondly: I am now trying to call the with passing two lexical parameters into the report as follows:
cmd_line: REPORT=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.rdf BACKGROUND=YES BATCH=NO DESFORMAT=PDF DESTYPE=FILE DESNAME=D:\DEV\REMITTANCE.pdf
CP_L_RUN_NO=||TO_CHAR(lv_run_no)|| CP_L_SPR_CD=||lv_spr_cd;
NOTE: The above is an output of the actual command line and not what is passed into the command line, thus the quotes are missing. Please also note that the report is running fine with the only a hard coded RUN_NO value PASSED without the SPR_CD.
Unfortunately this is also causing issues as the RUN_NO is a number and as you know you can only pass in strings.
Your urgent help is required on this matter please as our client is expecting a solution this afternoon.

Unable to Schedule the Report with a user with Author Role.

I tried to Schedule the Report using weblogic user(which has admin role) it worked perfectly. But when i try to login using User(which has author role) and when i try to schedule a report i am getting the following error. It is clustered Environment.

The fix to this issue is to apply patch for the following unpublished bug.

The patch is available on MOS and can be applied to all platforms.

Scheduling WEBI reports with API

Is it possible to schedule a WEBI report with an external API?
Explanation: our customers can view their data on our internet site. We want to show a list of reports where they can subscribe. For example: report X with parameter Y each monday morning in Excel format to mailadress Z.
This subscribtion is stored in our Oracle database. The database sends an API to the BO enterprise server. BO schedules and sends the report to the customer.
