Scheduled Packages in Data Manager run nearly immediately

We're running SAP BPC 10 NW and EPM 10 SP16 on BW / SQL.
When I try to schedule packages to run, they are running about a minute after the time I create the schedule, not one minute after the time I have scheduled the job to run.  In either case, they are not running as scheduled.  Does anyone have an idea of why the package is not waiting until the time I have scheduled the package to run?  The two packages I tested with are Light Optimize and Archive Data.

For clarity, you have an SSIS package in production, in the DM file folders, that you are copying over to a file location in the TEST environment. Then you are adding the package via the DM interface.  The saving the view.  Then trying to execute the package?
-If you edit the package via the DM interface, does everything look correct, regarding settings for the package?
-Does the package have more SSIS tasks than just standard BPC tasks?  Do they need to be modified for the new servers.
- WHat does the package do?  Is it supposed to run logic?  B/c it may need the logic statements to be validated and saved?
Please Let us know.

  • Passing multiple parameter to SSIS package via data manager

    Hi
We are trying to pass parameters from data manager to SSIS package. We are trying to give option of selecting members from Dimension using SelectInput while modifying script.
But we are not able to catch the values in SSIS package.
    Code in Data manager package:
    (ON)
    (SELECTINPUT,%VER%,,"Select Account",%ACCOUNT_DIM%)
    (Execute sp_ver_copy,SqlStatementSource,exec dbo.sp_ver_copy2 '%VER%')
We also tried with writing GLOBAL(VER,%VER%) instead of -- (Execute sp_ver_copy,SqlStatementSource,exec dbo.sp_ver_copy2 '%VER%')
    But that also dosent work.
We need to use the parameters passed, in SQL code that we have written in OLE DB source, under data flow task.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks Roberto for reply.
Please find the screenprint as per your suggestion. Also I have mentioned the code in above question. We are using the stored procedure to write the value into a table , passed from front end. We are able to write the value passed from front end into a table. So it means that system is passing the value.
But when I try to bring same value into the data task flow , system is throwing a error. The description of error is also mentioned below.
    Kindly advise.
    Error Description in DM package:
Description = Executing the query "exec dbo.sp_ver_copy2 'Account'" failed with the following error: "An error occurred while extracting the result into a variable of type (DBTYPE_STR)". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

    Hi Praveen,
In case if u find that the package is not getting aborted, there is another way to kill the process.
    1) connect to the SQL Server using SQL Server Management Studio
    2) Right Click on the name of the server->Activity monitor
    3) Open the section Processes and then filter the column DataBase for the appropriate DB and in the the column Commands, select not blank
    4) Now you should have in the list all the running processes on that database. Among these you have to find the right one to kill. Keep in mind the session ID associated to the process. To be sure that this is the right process to kill right click the process row->Details, to make sure you are looking at the the right process.
NOTE : This is critical step and u need to make sure that u don't kill any other processes.
    5) Close the previous windows the right click again on the process row identified by the session id previously noted->click kill process.
    6) Process the cube from Analysis Services.

  • Clear Data Manager Package Error "The data file is empty."

    Hi,
When I run the Clear data package in Data Manager, I receive the error "The data file is empty." I selected a very specific set of dimension values (none are calculated) and am on BPC 7.5 SP3. I subsequently turned on debugging to troubleshoot, but do not see any obvious issues leading the the error message. The log file with debugging turned on is below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

You can greatly improve your chance of receiving a helpful answer to your question if you state the version (MS or NW) and the release (5.1, 7.0, 7.5) of BPC which you are using.
Also notice the sticky [note|Please do not post BPC, SSM or FI/CO questions here!; at the top of this forum whereby we announced new dedicated forums for BPC which are the proper place to post your questions regarding BPC in the future to be able to reach the right audience for your question.

  • How to write custom messages to Data Manager package log from within SSIS?

Just wonder in BPC 7.0/7.5 MS how do you write custom messages to Data Manager package log from within SSIS?  I mean I want to log output of specific custom tasks (non-BPC) in SSIS control flow to the resultant BPC package log created when running SSIS package in Data Manager.  Can this be done in a Script Task or some other way?  Not much documentation out there on this.
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi Brian
In order to achieve what you want, it can get tricky in your package, ultimately It would depend on the task, for example if you had an execute SQL task, you could use a RAISEERROR command in your SQL statement and BPC would return the error message that you specified.
If you had other tasks, then it would be a bit more tricky, you would have to have custom messages based on event handlers.
Please see below links for examples :
    [Custom messages for logging|http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345174.aspx]
[Custom Logging Using Event Handlers |http://consultingblogs.emc.com/jamiethomson/archive/2005/06/11/SSIS_3A00_-Custom-Logging-Using-Event-Handlers.aspx]
    Hope this helps

  • URGENT: Data Manager - Package Failures

We are seeing scheduled load/import packages failing with the following note in the Package Log:
"The output file name is empty."
What is the significance of this message? And how can we fix it?
This is occurring in our production environment and without scheduled packages we are currently running our packages manually.
    Your help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Garvi

    Check your reject list.
The Import process converts records in the import file using the rules defined in the selected Transformation (and associated Conversion files) file.  Temporary files are created in the Private Publications directory for the user initiating the import.  One temporary file is created to hold the records post-conversion.  The other holds the records that pass dimension validation, this file will be the file that is used as the input file for the actual import (dump load).  If this file is empty, you will get the error you are seeing.
If your initial input file is not empty, then you should have received an error indicating that rejects were generated.  The log file for the run should provide the temporary file names that were used.

  • How to set a variable value on the BPC Data Manager

    Hello BPC Experts,
I'm creating a BPC10 NW version demo environment for our prospect customer.
I made a data manager to import  BW data into BPC model from BW cube.
I need to import just one month data into BPC from the BW cube that has more than one month data.
When I run the data package manually, I can select a member of the time dimension prompt and I can import specific month data I want.
But, in a case where the program (data manager) runs by JOB monthly,
I can't select a member of the time dimension prompt manually.
So I want to know how to set a  variable value to the time dimension prompt from a system date etc. automatically.
Are there any way to set a variable value to the time dimension prompt on the data manager automatically from a system date?
Or, do you have any other solution to import just one month data into BPC from the BW cube that has more than one month data  by the data manager running on JOB ?
(without selecting a member of the time dimension prompt of the data package manually)
    Thanks in advance,
    Keisuke

    Hi Gersh
Sorry for my late reply and thanks for your helpful information.
I tried the second way of your information and I could configure it.
And I 'll try first way of your information.

  • Clear Data package - "The data file is empty." Error

    Hi,
When I run the Clear package in Data Manager, I get the error "The data file is empty". We are running BPC 7.5 SP3. There are no calculated members selected. Any suggestions?
    Thanks.
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
If i'm not mistaken when we run the clear data package, BPC inserts -ve values for the combination of dimensions selected.
For ex if you have selected time as 2010.DEC it would reverse out all these values by inserting negative values which would then total up to zero.
So i still think it could be a problem with the Transformation file.
P.S. Maybe you can try using the Clear from Fact table package.
    Santosh

  • Error when Trying to Copy or Import Data via Data Manager

    Hello Experts,
I was trying to do an Import using the package in Data Manager and i Got this error:
[Admin-ProcessPartition]Errors in the OLAP storage engine: The attribute key cannot be found when processing: Table: 'dbo_tblFactAppname', Column: 'ACCOUNT', Value: '7061020702'. The attribute is 'AccountNom_ID1'
Also, I tried to do some Optimize in the Application and then a Copy from a Package and I still got this error.
    Thanks for your help,
    Rodrigo

    Hi Rodrigo,
For every application, BPC creates 3 tables in the SQL.
    1. FactWB<application> : writeback table - the data is stored whenever we send any data from the input schedules. This table is used for real term storage (the most current data sent to the system).
    2. Fact2<application> :  When we load data through DM packages, it gets stored in this table. Also called short term storage.
    3. Fact<application> : Main data storage. All data eventually resides over here. Also termed long term storage.
    Hope this helps.

  • SSIS Environmental Variables not working in BPC 7.5(MS) Data Manager

    Hi,
We have an SSIS 2008 package that is retrieving variable values from Environmental Variables.  The package runs successfully when executed from DTExec, but fails when executing from a BPC 7.5(MS) Data Manager package.  Looking through logs we've been able to pinpoint the issue.  The issue is that the SSIS package is unable to retrieve variable values from Environmental Variables when running from Data Manager packages.  We tried using XML Configuration files to store variable values, but this did not work either when running the SSIS package from Data Manager.  Has anyone seen this before?  If so, what was the solution to resolving the issue?
    Thanks,
    Glenn Van Der Werff

    Hi Glenn,
Can you set package variables in Data Manager script as a workaround?
For example, here is how we set connection string:
    GLOBAL(DRILL_CN_STRING,Data Source=%SQLSERVER%;Initial Catalog=%DRILL_DB%;Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Application Name=SSIS-BPC_Incremental_Oracle;Auto Translate=False;)
DRILL_CN_STRING is a variable in our package and %<Parameter Name>% are parameters for that connection string.
Regarding Env Variables and XML... there could be security related and/or Package ProtectionLevel issue when BPC system account.
    Hope that helps,

  • Execute script logic using data manager

    Hi all,
Could anyone explain me how to run a script logic using the data manager?
The only way I get it working is adding the script logic into the defaul.lgl file and running the default formulas package via data manager.
How can I run an specific script logic without using the default.lgf file?
    Thanks and regards,
    Ana

    HI Ana,
You will have to create a SSIS package that will run the logic for you. A good example of this is the ICELIM package that comes standard with AppShell. The easiest is way for me is to copy the package and renaming it to what you want to call it in the following folder: C:\BPC\Data\Webfolders\<AppSet>\<Application>\DataManager\PackageFiles\System Files
You will then have to organize the package list and add the package and modify the advanced properties of the package and point it to the correct logic file. I always use the lgf file rather than the lgx file, but it is up to you.
Lemme know if you need more info.

    Andries

  • Work status Data Manager

    Hello!
We can run a package from Data Manager on periods that have the status of "Locked"
We have a package with the following script:
    'DEBUG(ON)
PROMPT(SELECTINPUT,,,"Please select category, entity and time for restatement","%CATEGORY_DIM%%TIME_DIM%%CURRENCY_DIM%")
    TASK(Execute formulas,USER,%USER%)
    TASK(Execute formulas,APPSET,%APPSET%)
    TASK(Execute formulas,APP,%APP%)
    TASK(Execute formulas,SELECTION,%SELECTIONFILE%)
    TASK(Execute formulas,LOGICFILE,%APPPATH%\..\AdminApp\%APP%\FXCONSOL_Restatement.lgx)
    TASK(Execute formulas,RUNMODE,1)
    TASK(Execute formulas,LOGICMODE,1)
    TASK(Execute formulas,CHECKLCK,1)
The logic used are as follows:
    *INCLUDE SYSTEM_CONSTANTS.LGL
    //Kr omflyttning av obeskattade reserver
    *INCLUDE ObeskRes.lgf
// Kr berkningar av elimineringar och konsolidering
    *RUN_STORED_PROCEDURE = SPRUNCONSO('%APP%', [%KATEGORI_SET%], [%GRUPP_SET%],'%SCOPETABLE%','%LOGTABLE%')
    *COMMIT
    *INCLUDE Calculations_H2.LGF
If we use this package in Data Manager for a period which has the status of "Locked" the package will run. Should not this be stopped because we have the status of "Locked" on the period and the script says that it will check Work Status

    Hi Daniel,
'Normal' logic should listen to the 'locked' settings. Please double check the workstatus settings to see if DM=locked is correct for the 'locked' workstatus.
    BUT:
The businessrules stored procedures do not listen to these settings. Most SP calls have there own locking methods.
For example the SPRUNCONVERSION call is as follow:
    *RUN_STORED_PROCEDURE=SPRUNCONVERSION(u2018APPLICATIONu2019,u2019CATEGORY_SET%u2019,
    u2019%CURRENCY_SET%u2019,u2019GLOBALu2019,u2019%SCOPETABLE%u2019,u2019%LOGTABLE%u2019,impact,destination,
    ratedimension,maxstatus)
The maxstatus setting here is the maximum status which allows change of data.
The one exception here is SPRUNCONSO which can not be prevented from running and storing data.
    Normally this is good behaviour;
SPRUNCONSO doesn't change LC data and shouldn't therefore not calculate other numbers than the previous run.
The behaviour of other sp's could/must sometimes be different then normal datamanager packages; for example when the status is submitted, users should not be able to upload/clear data, but should be able to run conversion and consolidations, that is why the sp's have there own locking section in the call itself.

  • Scheduling a data Manager Package

    Hi,
Please le t me know how to schedule the Data manager package from BPC Client.
I tried th option in Data Manager Package "Schedule" but is not repeating the job. It just run once and stop.
    Anurodh

    Hello,
Please check the schedule for the InfoProvider you are using. You can check this within transaction code RSA1. There may not be a schedule that was created to load data. Please verify that this is or not the case. Thanks.

  • SSIS Package Fails Immediately in Data Manager

    Hey all!
I have an SSIS Package that works perfectly in my Production system.  I'm currently trying to test the exact same package in my Test System.  The only change I've made to the package was to change the server name to point to our Test Server.
Now, within SSIS, this Test package runs completely fine.  However, when I try to run the exact same package through the Data Manager.  The package Errors out immediately.  Of course, BPC gives no error message at all to help troubleshoot.
Does anyone have any idea why this package would work on our Production system, but not our Test Server?  Any hints on what to look for would be extremely welcome!
    Thanks much!
    Sean

For clarity, you have an SSIS package in production, in the DM file folders, that you are copying over to a file location in the TEST environment. Then you are adding the package via the DM interface.  The saving the view.  Then trying to execute the package?
-If you edit the package via the DM interface, does everything look correct, regarding settings for the package?
-Does the package have more SSIS tasks than just standard BPC tasks?  Do they need to be modified for the new servers.
    - WHat does the package do?  Is it supposed to run logic?  B/c it may need the logic statements to be validated and saved?
    Please Let us know.
