Scheduled Tasks Time Keep Resetting / Changing

I have 77 Macs in 3 labs (iMacs, G4s and G5s) all running OS 10.3.9 and ARD Client 2.2. I have an Admin ARD 2.2 iMac with 64 preset scheduled tasks ranging from log off, shut down, empty trash and send note running as early as 7:50am to as late as 11:00pm through out the week. Now the problem.... every now and then, some 1/3 to 1/2 of my tasks are reset to another time (i.e. this morning, 30 tasks went from whatever they were to now 7:00am). There is no outside access from campus (closed network) and I am the first one in in the mornings. I have taken a screen shot and can email it out. A major bug in ARD???????? Can anyone please assist? Thank you.
Mike

Hi Don Seher1 - I've been having the same problem as many other posters re ARD saved tasks losing timing prefs after quit or shutdown. I read your message and immediately updated Apple Java 2 SE 5.0R3 as indicated. However, this does not appear to have made any change to the problems I'm experiencing with ARD. Do you have any further insights that might help ?
I'm trying to use ARD to perform a daily shutdown of ten computers on an airport extreme network in a museum in a remote part of western australia. All machines are running 10.4.3; ARD is 2.2 on all; all are brand new Macs. The control iMac is running 24/7 which is no good in the long term.
My problem I know - but your message of beating this ridiculous shortcoming in the software was tantalising!

My Iphone 5c shows an incorrect time, i tried a few things including resetting the phone. I have changed the time manually but after an hour or so the time just randomly changes. This is very frustrating and makes the phone useless to use as an alarm clock. I am sure it has to be a software issues but have tried syncing and like i said i have even done a hard reset but all to no avail!...Please help..is driving me mad.

IPhone 5c keeps showing incorrect times.

    Hello LaylaAlHajeri,
It sounds like you the time is acting unexpectedly on your iPhone. I recommend starting by closing all the open apps on your device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If it persists, I would next try the steps in the article named:
iOS: Troubleshooting issues with date and time
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3920
Follow these steps. Test after each step to see if the issue is resolved.
Ensure that the version of iOS on your device is up to date.
If the option to enable date and time automatically is available, turn it on. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time.
Ensure that your time zone is set up correctly. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone.
If the incorrect date, time, or time zone is being set up automatically on the device, please notify your cellular provider. In the meantime, tap General > Date & Time and turn off Set Automatically. Then set the appropriate time and time zone manually.
Note: The option to set automatically might not be available on all carriers in all countries.
    Additional Information
Note: If you find that your device's time is incorrect after you sync with your computer, your computer's time may be incorrect. Verify the computer's time in System Preferences > Date & Time (you may want to select the checkbox to set the computer's date and time automatically).
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

  • E71x date/time keeps resetting

I have a E71x that is not quite 2 years old, and lately I have noticed a problem, or more of an inconvenience.
Every night, I turn the phone off and plug it in to the charger.
Yesterday and today (Fri,Sat) when I turn the phone on, I have to reset the Date and the Time.
Could this be a battery issue (going bad) or more of a hardware issue?
    Thanks,
    Jim

If it happens everytime time then it is more than likely due to a faulty auxilliary battery(internal battery). You can get the auxilliary battery replaced at any Nokia Care Point.
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.

  • Dealing with time-keeping and changing entries

Hi everyone, I'm working on a project for school, and I have to develop a database that works somewhat like eBay. Only instead of auctions users create and place bets.
My question is, how would I go about implementing some sort of function that will allow me to change the status of a table entry once its BetTime (or in the case of eBay, Bid Life) ends?
an example of this would be:
    BetID BetCreationTime BetEndTime Status
    000 12:00 BetCreationTime + 5 hours OPEN
    001 3:00 BetCreationTime + 8 hours OPEN
5 hours after Bet 000 is created (5:00), it must change status to CLOSED. The same goes for bet 001 8 hours after it is created (at 11:00)

Have a play with this Example in SQL and PL/SQL. Note that I do not want to store my STATUS because I need to get it at runtime.
    SQL> CREATE TABLE BET

  • Scheduling a timer task

    Hi,
I have created a Repeattask which extends the timertask. In the run method of this i call the task to be processed.
I have another class where i instantiate the Repeattask and call the run method to be scheduled.I use timer.schedule(task,time).
The problem is that this task takes very long time to complete. So if the time interval is small this task is called again before the original task is finished.
Is there a way to schedule the task again after the original task is completed.
    thanks
    jagath

You should use one of the other two schedule methods in the Timer API:
schedule(TimerTask, long, long) or schedule(TimerTask,Date, long)Both of these methods use fixed-delay timers which don't start until the previous execution finishes.
    See:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/java/util/Timer.html#schedule(java.util.TimerTask,%20long,%20long)

  • IdM Scheduler and Time Change to Daylight Savings Time GMT to BST

This isn't really a 'question' , but just a topic for discussion.
We're not live yet, but will be by the time the clocks go back. So I'm just interest to hear everyone's experiences and any issues with regards to the switching to / from DST
I did some "interesting" (or not) tests last night to see what happens with Pending Values which are due to take effect at the time change threshold of 01:00 GMT when switching to Daylight Savings Time (BST) GMT +0100.
It seems as if the IdM scheduler keeps going according to UTC or GMT. However any values provisioned to target systems or to local tables using the ddm.datetime8601 system variable are in local time according to the runtime server or SQL server's locale settings.
I set up a task to output from a javascript the current system date
using the following in the functions.
    currentTime = new Date();
return currentTime.toString(); // returns Locale Time String
    currentTime = new Date();
return currentTime.toUTCString(); // returns UTC Time String
in the same pass I also output the ddm.datetime8601 system parameter and the ddm.time24 system parameter.
This task was to update a comment on an entry and Scheduled to run at 00:00:00 and was executed at 00:00:06 GMT all times were still in GMT as expected.
    Local Time: Sun Mar 27 00:00:06 GMT-0000 (GMT) 2011, UTC Time: Sun, 27 Mar 2011 00:00:06 GMT, ddm.datetime8601: 2011-03-27T00:00:06, ddm.time24: 00:00:06
This task was scheduled at 01:00:00 in IdM and was exectued at 01:00:08 GMT by the runtime, and you can see the local time is being correctly reported as 02:00:08 BST. Note also the ddmdatetime8061 is also 02:00:08 i.e. BST.
    Local Time: Sun Mar 27 02:00:08 GMT+0100 (BST) 2011, UTC Time: Sun, 27 Mar 2011 01:00:08 GMT, ddm.datetime8601: 2011-03-27T02:00:08, ddm.time24: 02:00:08
In the database the entry values MXI_VALUES ModifyTime field has the GMT / UTC timestamp.
I also set up some pending value objects to be applied at 00:59:59 and 01:30:00 to see if the 01:30:00 would be 'skipped' as the locl clock change would've gone from 00:59:59 to 02:00:00. Well the pending values were correctly applied and expired and no 'lost' transactions happened as a result of the change.
So essentially it seems to me that the IdM runtime and scheduler times are all based on UTC / GMT.
I guess it's only an issue twice a year if you're expecting something to happen at a specific local time 01:00:00 or if you've got a global user base and their account expiry should be in each user's own country's local time. In these cases, it would seem that you'd need to convert the schedule times and pending value times to UTC first before setting them in the database.
Has anyone else had any issues, thoughts, questions or suggestioins on scheduling tasks which span the DST time change when switching to and from Daylight Savings Time.

  • Scheduled Tasks - System Idle Timer

I recently upgraded to Windows 8.1. Unfortunately, my NIC prevents the system from automatically entering Hibernate (if I disable/unplug it the system sleeps properly). To work around this, I thought I would use a Scheduled Task to run shutdown /h after
x minutes of inactivity (probably an hour).
I set my task's trigger to be an hourly check indefinitely.
I set the action to be shutdown /h
I set the conditions to be:
Start the task only if the computer is idle for: 1 hour (checked)
Wait for idle for: Do not wait
The problem I have found is that the task runs if the computer has been idle for only four minutes as per the Task Idle Conditions states (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa383561%28v=vs.85%29.aspx). In my mind I should leave the
computer alone, the hour ticks over and the task is initiated. It should then check to see how long the system has been idle for:
    >= 1 hour? Run the task
< 1 hour? Do nothing until the next hour
What seems to be happening is it is checking for an idle state and running the task, even if the computer has only been idle for the minimum four minutes.
Has anyone else found this issue? Are there any ideas on how I can fix this? My next idea is to write a batch file to sleep for an hour and then hibernate and to have the task cancel the batch process when the system is no longer idle. Seems like it could
    work.
    Thanks in advance.

Hi vdboots. The question is regarding Task Scheduling and the idle timer, not the issues my system has with hibernating automatically.
To answer your query, yes I have disabled all devices from waking the computer. The Microsoft drivers for my NIC for some reason keeps the machine awake. I installed the manufacturer's Windows 7 drivers (of course they didn't release any Windows 8 ones...)
and the machine would sometimes enter hibernation, but mostly would just stay on. The only way I could get the computer to automatically hibernate was to disable the NIC altogether, but that is hardly a solution.
As I said, this question is about why Windows doesn't seem to be waiting for 1 hour idle time before initiating the task. The action of the task is fairly irrelevant, in fact for my testing I just launch cmd and run time /t.

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user, and the one in question is not an administrator, then go to Step 2.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1, if you prefer not to take it, or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • CF9 Scheduled Tasks Sort order changed; how to fix it?

I just notice in my CF9 administrator under "Scheduled Tasks", the tasks now display Alphabetically IN GROUPS BY FREQUENCY rather than the straight alpha by Task Name.  Is this a new "feature" of CF9 and how can I change it back to "normal" sort by Task Name?  We have lots of scheduled tasks and it's really more convenient to see them the old way.  I haven't found any obvious place where I can change the sort order.  Any help is appreciated.

You could experiment with changing /CFIDE/administrator/scheduler/scheduletasks.cfm to be the one CF8 uses instead.  I dunno if it would work, but it should.
Or you could write your own CFAdmin extension to display them however you like.
I don't know there's an "official" way to revert to the old view.
I'm not sure why they bothered changing this.  I think they could have better spent said time on something else... like providing a proper API for managing the tasks, without needing to rely on using the service factory.

  • Certain scheduled tasks do not run anymore after DST change

    Hi everyone,
I noticed a problem on Server 2012 after daylight savings time was set effective last weekend in March. All scheduled tasks that are configured to run weekly on Monday through Friday don't run anymore! Tasks that are configured to run daily are OK. Shall
I really put a wrapper script around the executable to check the weekday myself??? Another solution to work around this bug seems to be to set the start day after DST change day, then the weekly Jobs also run OK again.
    Many Greetings
    Michael

We have experienced the same issues.  Just to put some more information out there (and confirm some points from above):
We run 12 scheduled tasks on 2 servers.
Machines are "Microsoft Windows Server 2012 Standard", ver. 6.2.9200 build 9200, HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8
4 scheduled tasks did fine over the DST switch in March
8 scheduled tasks failed to run
All scheduled tasks that ran were set up with
“Configure For” = “Windows Server 2012”
All scheduled tasks that failed were set up with
    “Configure For” = “Windows Vista™, Windows Server™
    2008”.
All scheduled tasks, both affected and unaffected, were scheduled as Weekly, Mon-Fri.
Changing the "Configure For" field after the tasks failed to run did NOT fix the problem.
Changing the time of a task after the task failed to run did NOT fix the problem
Changing the "Start" date of a task after it failed to run DID fix the problem.
Given that there are not a whole ton more complaints out on the web about this bug, it must be that the bug does not affect every instance of the scheduler on Windows Server 2012.  In other words, it must be only some particular configuration
of Windows Server 2012 that causes this bug, otherwise surely there would be many many more complaints.  Can people who are experiencing this bug check and post configuration info so perhaps we can determine a common factor?  Thanks.

  • Scheduled Program Does NOT Change Times with Guide Changes

When a program is scheduled from the Guide and then the Guide changes the start and end times, the scheduled program times do NOT shift AUTOMATICALLY with the Guide changes. Frequently the Guide program start and end times for a show move a minute, two, or three, sometimes more. The DVR scheduled program times do NOT keep up with these shifted Guide times but stick to the start and end times when scheduled. The DVR will often throw a yellow triangle up on the program indicating a conflict but the only conflict is with the Guide times. The DVR should AUTOMATICALLY shift the start and end times the few minutes and ONLY flag a conflict when the new times for the scheduled program conflict with another scheduled program, NOT with the Guide. This occurs most often on USA, FX, FXX, TBS programs which are frequently 61 or 62 minutes long. It is very frustrating to miss pieces of a recorded program, usually the end, because of these few minute time shifts.

    Hello Venkata,
The components item category is TAE, that means the item category for the header item will be TAQ. Also the pricing will be carried out at the header item level only.
    Now for your query:
The standard item category controls of TAQ will not have any connection between the header & the item level quantities in the delivery. If you change the quantity of the header item in the sales order, the quantity of the compnenets will be automatically adjusted. But this will not happen in the delivery with the normal settings of TAQ.
    Solution:
Go to transaction code VOV7 - select TAQ - double click - In the Bill of Material/Configuration section , there is a field "Create Delivery Group" - select "X - Form delivery group with one delivery date".
Save the settings. Now create a new sales order & then create the delivery & try to change the quantity of the header item, the system will automatically change the quantity of the components. (the system may not change the quantity of the components in the delivery of the old sales order - change it manually)
    With best regards,
    Allabaqsh Patil.

And this is the message that I need to avoid.
This is the last time you can change he drive region code
I'm a music student and I have several instructions DVD in region 1 and 2 but I live in South America and here it's 4.
Have any way to reset this counter to 0 and have 5 more changes or put it the driver in region free mode?
    Thanks in advance
    Gus

    Hi Gustavo,
As someone who has travelled between regions a lot, I feel your pain.
Your only options with the UJ-845 are to get an external DVD drive, based on a drive mechanism that can be made region free, or remove the internal drive and replace it with a Pioneer K05 or K06. Pioneer drives can be made region free, and are compatible with MacOS X.
If you have one of the original G5 iMacs, without an iSight, the upgrade is very easy, and you should still keep any remaining warranty. Instructions are available at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacg517inchOpticalDrive.pdf ( or http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/imacg520inchOpticalDrive.pdf )
If you have one with an iSight, it is very difficult and you should get a professional to do it - Have a look at http://www.kodawarisan.com/imacg5_isight/imacg501i.html for how it comes apart.

    - See if placing the iPod in Recovery mode will allow a restore.
    - If not successful and you can't turn the iPod fully off (that is required to place in recovery mode), then let the battery fully drain. After charging for at least an hour try the reset, restore again

  • Effect of time zone change on scheduled appointment times

I have had a Palm Treo 650 for three years. It had its shortcomings, but the calendar was well-designed. I could be in the Pacific time zone and arrange an appointment in New York for 1:00PM on a certain day. When I arrived in New York, the Treo's time had automatically changed to Eastern time and the appointment time was still 1:00PM on the calendar.
I just bought a BlackBerry 8330 because Verizon's network coverage is far superior to ATT's at places where I spend most of my time. The BB has excellent web access and email, but the calendar has a problem. If I were in the Pacific time zone and set an appointment for New York at 1:00PM and then traveled to New York, the BB's time would change to Eastern, but the appointment time would also be changed to 4:00PM. This can be a trap that can cause me to occasionally miss an important meeting. I can't afford this risk. I'm likely to return the BB and look for another PDA.
*My Question: Is the iPhone's calendar like the Treo's or the BlackBerry's?*

Thank you for the quick replies. It is not totally clear to me, but it sounds as though the iPhone may be the same as the BlackBerry. If so, then I have to set a time AND make sure that, at the time the appointment is entered, the time zone is properly set for the location of the meeting. The Treo's meeting time was independent of the time zone that was in effect when the appointment time was entered. There was no special setting for it, but there is a setting to either keep the desired time zone in effect regardless of where the phone was located or to let the network adjust the time zone whenever a trip was made. It automatically took the network time from wherever it was so the clock was always right and the alarm for an upcoming meeting would go off at the proper time even if the appointment was entered while set for another time zone. The statement "Time Zone Support always shows event dates and times in the time zone selected for calendars" doesn't really say how it affects previously set appointments. It will only become clear when someone who travels a lot says how it works in practice.
