Scheduling  a part of process chain

Hi!
I have a process chain that is a combination of local chains.
The main chain is running daily, but now I want to run the latest local chain weekly only.
Any hints how to get it working by this way?

If you are on BI 7.0 and say if you want to run your local chain on a friday only then :-
You can use a decision maker process type (process type is called as "Decision between multiple alternatives") and use a formulae with boolean return like
"DATE_WEEKDAY1( Current Date ) = 5" inside this decison maker process to check whether the current day was a friday
based on the output you would have multiple options i.e. to link the flow to your local chain in case of option 1 (value true being rturned by the boolean formulae) or option 2 (Value false being returned by the bollean formulae"

    Hello Experts,
We have BW 7.4 on HANA database(rev 74). We are working on mixed scenario approach.
We have few of the stored procedure in HANA. We want to schedule it.
Is there any way to schedule it via BW process chain or any similar thing?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rakesh,
there is already a nice blog post which describes one way to integrate your stored procedures in a process chain: How to schedule SAP HANA procedures by using SAP BW Process Chains
As Lars said. If you do not need the process chain integration you can use the XS Jobs: Scheduling XS Jobs - SAP HANA Developer Guide for SAP HANA Studio - SAP Library

  • How to run a query as part of process chain on regular basis ?

    Friends,
    I'm in BW3.5
I would like to execute a particular query as part of a process chain on regular basis. Could you please let me know how could this be done ??
The intention is to cache the query memory each time the respective cube is loaded.
    Thanks
    Venkat

    Hi,
You have to create a broadcast setting and mention the distribution type as export to cache.
Set other attributes of the broadcast setting as required.
Then in the process chain use the process type trigger event data change for broadcasting and mention the infoprovider name which has been loaded by the process chain.
The broadcast setting is scheduled to execute on the data chage event of its base infoprovider.
So when the process chain runs this event process, an event is fired which executes the broadcast setting, which will load the cache..

  • Error related to scheduling of dependencies in process chain

    Hi gurus,
2 process chain is dependent on the 1 process chain, unfortunately i was scheduled the 2 pc before the end of 1 pc.
after a while i was realiased that 1 pc was still running, immediately i killed the job related to 2 pc(that job is  DELETE INDEXES )
finally i was rescheduled the 2 process chain after the completion of 1 process chain.
    1 & 2 are finished successfully.
    thx
    mahi  &naren
because of this ,is there any problem to database (production server )

    Mahesh,
every body will cancel jobs. It won't problem. may be you are thinking in that process is DELETE INDEXES point of view, this won't be problem. create the indexes again. after the load check DB02 for missing indexes.
check the data consistency for the load(no duplicate recrods).
    All the best.

    Below is the procedure..
1.Double click on the job BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER
    2.Then goto "STEP"
    3. In "STEP"---goto 'GOTO' tab in the MENU....select "maiatain variants"
Then it will take to SE38 screen---Click the DISPLAY
It will give the Chain name and all the details.

  • Two buttons "Activate" and "Activate and Schedul" in Process Chain

What are the functionalities of the two picture buttons "Activate" and "Activate and Schedule" in process chain. In which case the "Activate" button should be used and in which case, the "Activate and Schedule" button should be used? If we click the Start variant of a process chain, then click "Change Selections" button which bring up the window "Start Time" where the buttons "Immediate", "Date/Time", "After job", and "After event" are listed at the top. If we modify at any of the above buttons, then after save this modification, we will have to click "Activate and Schedule" button to make it work, right?
Thanks a lot and everyone's idea is greatly appreciated!

    Hi Kevin,
Simply activating ur PC wont trigger ur PC. U have to use the other option Activate and Schedule then only the process chain trigger as per the scheduled option.
U can give the Date/Time option and if it is a periodic job then u can specify the periodicity, later save all the things and when u come back to RSPC screen then click the 'Activate and Schedule' Button which looks like a clock.
When u do this then ur process chain will be in released status.
When ever if u activate ur chain will be with the Green color it means that its in Active status. But if u choose the second button then only ur chain will gets trigger..

  • Scheduling DTPs without Process Chains

    Hello all,
Just the same way as scheduling an InfoPackage for later execution, can DTPs also be scheduled manually for later and recurring execution without using Process Chains.  I wagely remember that I figured out a way sometime back, but cannot remember it now.  It could be thru a function module OR ABAP program OR something else.  Any help will be appreciated.
    Regards
    Sankar

You can't schedule DTP manually except process chain.

    This step says:
    4. Schedule Process Chains.
Please schedule the technical content process chains (0TCT*) in transaction RSPC. "INIT" process chains need to be scheduled once and "DELTA" process chains should be scheduled periodically.
But when I open RSPC I can't find anything with (0TCT*).
    Can anyone help me?

  • Scheduling BW Process Chains options

    Hi All,
I wonder if it is possible to schedule Process Chains via SCPS in the "Meta Chain or API" option (and not in the "Direct Scheduling" option, that seem used basically).
It appears that the "Direct Scheduling" method need the Process chains to be activated after each transport, and then all the chains' jobs would be related to the account user that made the activation operation.
I don't see anything that could be related to that kind of option among all the parameters of the RUN_BW_CHAIN.
Can someone  help me on this ?
Thanks in advance for your help !
    Regards,
    Yi Jiang

    Hi Yi,
No you should be able to use it immediately (assuming you have the flag for "meta chain or api" scheduling already set).
There will be a RSI_RUN_BW_CHAIN or SAP_ProcessChainRun (depending on your version) that allows you to run the process chain.
You may want to import the process chains first, to populate the drop downs, but this is optional.
    Regards,
    Anton.

  • Modifiying, Transporting and Scheduling Process Chain

    Hello ALL,
i have to create a new process chain for a delta Load and put this process chain in a big existing Meta Chain, after i have to transport to Quality System.
if i control the difference between Dev and Quality system to have an idea i see that the Infopackages in Dev have the execution tab: Load Data Immediately without job: BI_BTCH
in Quality some Infopackages have execution tab: run successively in batch with job like this:
    BI_BTCH LX6CW08S1ICM04I4O06KOPL
can you tell me please in detail how should i complete this activity:
    - wich type of control should i do before creating and modifiying process chain in DEV and Quality
    - how should i do to control in Quality the scheduling of a process chain
    - if i modify a process chain in DEV and after i will transport in Quality what will be the affect in Scheduling, the scheduling will be the same without problem or i have to schedule again
    - in generale how can i schedule a process chain, wich transaction and how in detail
Thanks a lot for your help
    Bilal

    Hi Bilal,
    1) EVENT: When you want to have a process chain 'A' to be started after completion of a process chain 'B' or any process in process chain 'B' we can use this event.  These two chains can also be from different BI systems.  Like Chain 'A' could be from one production system and Chain 'B' could be from different production system.  As soon as the chain A finished an event will be triggered and this event will trigger the chain B.  The start time of chain B might differ because it depends on the completion of chain A. To schedule a process chain using an event, Go to Tcode: RSPC look for your chain. Switch to change mode. Right click on the start variant and select maintain variant. Click on "change selections. click on "after event," give the event name in the slot and select the periodic job.
    2) RUN JOB PERIODICALLY: When you want to have the chain run for more than once periodically we select this option.  Suppose, chain B has to run after completion of chain A periodically we have to use this option.  If you do not check this option, your chain B will run only once when the event is triggered after completion of Chain A.  From the next time onwards, it not run even the event is triggered.
    3) JOB: For every process when it runs a job will be created assainging it to a work process in the system.  Similarly, when the chain starts a job will be created containing the log of the run.  Also, in the scheduling options of a process chain, you can have your process chain started after completion of a particular job in the system (ex: an attribute change).  For this, Go to Tcode: RSPC look for your chain. Switch to change mode. Right click on the start variant and select maintain variant. Click on "change selections. click on "after job" give the job name in the slot and save the settings.
    4) SCHEDULING PROCESS CHAIN: Means to make settings to a process chain so that it will run on a periodic basis at a certain time.  If you want to start a chain immediately, you will choose the option immediately and trigger it.  It will run for only once.  But, if you want to have your chain run everyday at 7:00 am in the morning, you have to schedule it using the scheduling options as below:
In Tcode: RSPC look for your chain. Switch to change mode. Right click on the start variant and select maintain variant. Click on "change selections." Click on Date/Time button. Give the start date and time in the Scheduled Start slots. (Ex: 09-04-2009, 7:00, to have the chain run at 7:00 everyday starting from tomorrow). Tick the check box Periodic job in the bottom and click on "periodic values" button and select the option as daily and save it. Then click on "Restrictions" button to specify the factory calander. The Tcode for calander is SCAL, where you can see all the factory calanders in the system and you can choose that suits your requirement. Save the changes and navigate back to process chain maintaince screen and click on "Schedule" button.
Now your chain is automated for trigger

  • Scheduling of a process chain in two meta process chains

    Hi,
    ( Meta process chains - X, Z
      X - runs at 2 a.m. daily
      Z - runs after every two hours daily from 9 a.m. to 10.30 p.m
    Process chain - Y is to be included in X & Z)
There is a Meta process chain X which is scheduled for 2 a.m. daily. This meta process chain contains another
    process chain Y.
I want to schedule another Meta process chain Z which executes after every two hours daily. Now I want to include process chain Y in Z, with the condition that if system time is 11 a.m. or later than it only then it should be scheduled.
Since this process chain  is contained in Meta process chain X, its start variant
has Immediate Start selected. I don't want to change this start variant.
Is there any option or event through which this can be achieved?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Manisha

You need a program to trigger event (using function module BP_EVENT_RAISE). You can include this program and variant only in the process chain as a ABAP process type.
The program will have a condition based on the time (you can use parameters to make it dynamic), when ever the specified time condition will be satisfied, it will trigger the event.
So whenever you will execute the process chain X, everytime ABAP process type will also be executed. But the event will be raised only at a specific time, so is it process chain Y. Therefore it will not affect process chain X execution.

  • Process chain problem...., its urgent

    Hi all
in my process chain we are loading 4 loads into ODS. After 3 loads, 4th load didn't take place. its not yet started even 3rd one successfully ran. its not showing error also. what can i do. after 4th one ODS activation process is there.
Please advice me. will i go for manual loading. if i do manual, what abt activation after 4th load. will i do activation also manual or else it will trigger automatically as part of process chain........../
    Advice me frnds..., its urgent
    Regards
    swetha

    Hi Swetha,
Sometimes, it doesn't help to just set a request to green status in order to run the process chain from that step on to the end.
You need to set the failed request/step to green in the database as well as you need to raise the event that will force the process chain to run to the end from the next request/step on.
Therefore you need to open the messages of a failed step by right clicking on it and selecting 'display messages'.
In the opened popup click on the tab 'Chain'.
In a parallel session goto transaction se16 for table rspcprocesslog and display the entries with the following selections:
    1. copy the variant from the popup to the variante of table rspcprocesslog
    2. copy the instance from the popup to the instance of table rspcprocesslog
    3. copy the start date from the popup to the batchdate of table rspcprocesslog
Press F8 to display the entries of table rspcprocesslog.
Now open another session and goto transaction se37. Enter RSPC_PROCESS_FINISH as the name of the function module and run the fm in test mode.
Now copy the entries of table rspcprocesslog to the input parameters of the function module like described as follows:
    1. rspcprocesslog-log_id -> i_logid
    2. rspcprocesslog-type -> i_type
    3. rspcprocesslog-variante -> i_variant
    4. rspcprocesslog-instance -> i_instance
    5. enter 'G' for parameter i_state (sets the status to green).
Now press F8 to run the fm.
Now the actual process will be set to green and the following process in the chain will be started and the chain can run to the end.
Of course you can also set the state of a specific step in the chain to any other possible value like 'R' = ended with errors, 'F' = finished, 'X' = cancelled ....
Check out the value help on field rspcprocesslog-state in transaction se16 for the possible values.
Try this solution with your 3rd ODS..hope this will solve your problem for this instance. This is just a workaround.
Before next scheduel of the process chain..remove the link between 3rd ODS and 4th ODS and then reconnect once again and activate the process chain and schedule it as per your schedule cycle. From next upload onwards everything works fine.
Assign points if it is helpful.

  • How to reset an failed asynchron abap-process in a process-chain?

    Hi specialists,
I've got a process-chain which triggers (as one of its steps) an abap-program.
The program should run asychroniously, so the process-chain waits until the programm reports its ending.
When the abap-program fails/crashes/dumps, then the endings is never reported and the process-chain gets stuck.
If I try to re-run that process-chain, it fails again with the message "Variant XYZ still executing from previous run".
What I already found so far is the following note:
The process chain management will not know if your program terminates!
Thus if you re-start the chain, this will also terminate, because the old run would not have finished yet. To avoid this, you need to manually set the process in the chain log view in the process monitor to terminate before you start again.
My problem: I cannot find any possibility to set the process to "terminate" in the chain's log view.
Could you please gimme a hint where I can find that option?
    Best regards,
      Marco

    Hi,
You can remove the process chain from scheduling before staring the process chain again.
Also can edit the entries in RSPROCESSLOG table before running the process chain.
Alternatively you can create a custom ABAP process type which handles the success as well as fail cases.
Refer : [How To- Trigger subsequent processes in a Process Chain based on the Success or Failure of ABAP program|/people/balaji.venugopal/blog/2009/04/07/how-to-trigger-subsequent-processes-in-a-process-chain-based-on-the-success-or-failure-of-abap-program]
