Scorecard Component! :)

Hi SAP Experts,
I had a question regarding to using scorecard component in Xcelsius 2008. I am currently doing a project on F1 races. Therefore, I need the data of the driver's positions and their qualifying positions and i would compare between them using the scorecard.
This is what i had included in it:
Driver:Alfonso
Position:1
Qualifying Position:2
Difference:Down
The driver state the driver name, their position is based on their race time and their qualifying position is based on their Q1,Q2,Q3 race, and the difference is either "Up,Down,same" which is to see whether this driver had higher or lower position after their qualifying races for their actual race. Therefore, i would like to check whether i am able to allow icon of arrow up & arrow down for string values such as "Up" / "Down" / "Same" when i enable the alerts.
This is due to that i only notice that values are only limited to values before we can add a icon to it.
Any experts would kindly answer or advice me?

I've used the following workaround in a similar case:
Have an extra collumn (not displayed in the scorecard component), which via some IF functions has a number for a specific string.
E.g.
Up | 1
Same | 0
Down | -1
(Alternativelly, you could use the result of the (QPos - RacePos) check and use that)
Then, enable alerts for the Difference column but use the extra column for the "Alert Values" and with the appropriate custom range for the alerts you should be fine.

Scorecard Component Header Gridlines - Can they be changed?

Is there a way to change the color of (or turn off) the gridlines between the headers in a scorecard component? I've found how to do it in the body of the scorecard, but just not the header. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Scorecard component formatting

I am using Xcelsius Engage with SP 3. When using the Scorecard component, only the first row of data in the chart uses the formatting that is specified on the Appearance > Text > Label section of the components properties. I have used a List View component and the formatting for the same set of data carries through all of the rows. I am looking to replicate that in the scorecard component.
Specifically, I have percentages that I only want to show whole numbers for. The number .38356 will be show as 38% in the first row, but .38356 on the second row in the same column.

I know it's a late reply. May be people might get benefitted in the future. I was browsing through to find solutions and read this post. Here is the solution for it.
Issue:
Initially you would've clicked on 'Labels' and then applied a common formatting (this applies the same formatting to all the columns). Later you would've changed the format of one or two columns that specifically needed different formatting. This way, only the first row is applied with the required formatting.
Solution:
- Go to Appearance --> Text
- Click on each of the Label columns and apply the formatting individually for each column.
E.g: Out of 10 columns, if you need to apply 'Percentage' for first and fourth columns and 'Numeric' for the rest of the columns, you need to select column 1 and apply 'Percentage', column 2 and apply 'Numeric', column 3 and apply 'Numeric', column 4 and apply 'Percentage', so on...

Pros & Cons of Spredsheet component & Scorecard

I have to design one dashboard where requirement is like i have to show the data as a spredsheet report. There one column contain Remarks of meeting which goes neerly above 160 character. if i use the scorecard component its not possible for me to wrap the text and show it in that scorecard if i use spredsheet components and data goes beyound the canvas the scroll appear for entire dashboard and not only for spreadsheet copmonents as it appears in scorecard components. Infact some allignments is also not supported by spredsheet components.

Here are the steps to display multi-line text:
1. Use the List View component. Unfortunately, this won't work for either Scorecards or Spreadsheets. They're all pretty much the same, anyways.
2. Suppose your long text is in $A$1. Then define:
B1 =MID(A1,1,FIND(" ",A1,80)) &"
"&MID(A1,FIND(" ",A1,80)+1,LEN(A1))
where for the
part you actually type: &" [ALT+ENTER] "&
B1 will now be a multi-line component. Display it in a List View and it will show up on 2 lines.
The idea is that:
[Alt+Enter] is a 'new line' character
FIND(" ",A1,80) will find the first space after the 80th character and wrap there. You can change that to whatever you want.

Problem with Scorecard and Numeric Format

Hi,
I need some help with the Scorecard component. i'm using Xcelsius 2008 SP 3.3, and MS Office 2007. Everything is working great until i set the format of labels to numeric with negative value being red. Then, if the value is negative, my alert indicator will also turn red regardless of the color i set on Alerts tab.
For instance,
Name        M1
AAA        -1
BBB        2
CCC        3
Alert by value, low values are good, automatic color
GREEN: minimum to 0
RED: 0 to maximum
So, AAA indicates GREEN. After i set numeric format of column M1 so that negative value will display in red, AAA will indicate RED instead. Additionally, even if i set alert values to a different column in the spreadsheet, the result is the same.
Is this behavior by design? Is there any work around? (My boss really wants them red.) :P
Currently, I'm in the process of downloading fix pack 3.4 with the hope that it might fix this. i'll let you know if it's does.

Have you tried conditional formatting in Excel ? That is an option worth exploring.

Score card component - Dashboards

Hi,
I have a requirement in my dashboards where in i need to create a Scorecard component and following are the detailed requirements.i am using the SAP Dashboards 4.0 tool.
1) There will be a drop down box which will display some employee names in it.
2) When the user selects a employee value from the drodown then the score card below the Drop down display the associated projects information
and The first column of the scorecard component will display the respective Project names.
3) And for each project there will be an associated .pdf document saved in share point location.
4) So the user wnats to see this pdf document after he clicks a project name from First column of the score card component.
So i would like to know the detailed step by step approach how can i link each one of the pdf document to the respective project in the score card component.
what i mean if i have multiple projects under one Employee how to link one PDF document for one project.
Here employee to Projects is a 1 to Many relation ship. and Project name in score card to pdf document in sharepoint is a 1 to 1 relation ship.
I hope you understand the requirement clearly.
Any body knows how to implement this requirement please let me know your inputs at the earliest.

Here are the steps you can follow
step 1
add scorecard and map them to data
Step 2:
add series and select Position in 'Insert Type' and bind to a cell
Step 3:
Go to behaviour and say rows are selectable and select 'No Selection (none)'
step 4:
Add URL button and assign url to it for your project
step 5:
Go to Behavior and map trigger cell to E1 where we are capturing selections from scorecard
Same for third URL button but specify when value becomes as 3 as its our 3rd row
Step 6: now hide the url button
and set it back and hide this url button in the back of scorecard

Alert Icons in Scorecard

I am using scorecard component in my dashboard , I would like to use custom alert icons in my scorecard component . Is there is any way that i can edit property sheet of score card component . Please let me know where can i found MXML code for each component .

In the scorecard component's propertysheet go to Alerts tab. In that check Enable Auto colors. On the right hand side click the first icon. A popup will come, there you can your custom icon sets by clicking create new icon sets. However the shapes are limited. and I think you can't create new shapes.

Using Bex query through Query Browser - add result set to Cell range?

Hi all,
I have up to now used Xcelsius on NW with BICS connection towards BEx queries.
When I use this connection via Data Manager in Xcelsius, I'm able to use the Cross-table functionality to insert my entire dataset into a cell Range.
But now I have an requirement to save my Dashboards on the BO server, so I need to go through Query Browser to extract data from SAP BW to my Dashboard.
When inserting the query in the Query browser and I want to assign the data to Excel ranges, it seems like I need to do this for each individual Infoobject and Key Figure. Since I have many Key Figures (30-50), this is a lenghty process.
Is there a way to insert the entire dataset from Query into a cell range (both rows and columns), or do I need to do this for each Key Figure as indicated in the screen shot above?
--> I know that the Query Browser flattens my cross-table from the Query, but still, it should be possible to avoid to input all my Key Figures (30-50) individually to corresponding cells in my Excel part of the Dashboard.

Hi Oddmar,
If you want to display the data retrieved from the query you could map the data using the Query data.
Pull scorecard component (for example) and in properties if you see the Display data click on the dropdown and select Query data.

Filtering Multiple Columns at once....

Hi All,
I was wondering if anybody had a smart way of filtering multiple columns. I know you can use excel formulas (index, v and h lookup etc), to achieve this but i need to improve performance and would like to reduce the formulas in my design
Example
                    A                B            C             D                E        F
                Income     Budget     Profit       Profit
1 Area 1    100           50            10            5
2 Area 2    150           25             3             1
On the canvas I will have combox with the values Income and Profit and a scorecard component looking at columns E and F
When a user selects Income, data in A and B moves to E and F
When a suer selects Porfit, data in C and D mooves to E and F
Any suggestions would be appreciated.....

Try using Filtered Rows as insertion type... and also try using list box instead of combo box if you have space as we should always try to apply WYSIWYG principle and combo box is not very good

Dynamic Alerts per single cell in a dashboard

Hi,
I am trying to create a dashboard in which the main requirement is to show alerts per cell in a table(either in a spreadsheet table or scorecard component).
I have used the spreadsheet table to display data and used rectangle components on top of each cell of the spreadsheet to display alerts based on dynamic visibility.
This kind of solves the problem of single cell alerts, but here another issue is, if the data for a given selection in the header navigation has only 5 columns as opposed to 10 columns for a different selection, the width of the spreadsheet cell is not dynamically picking up as the user wants the no. of output columns to be evenly distributed in the component than re-sizing the component of the canvas.
I am trying to use Scorecard alerts, but i don't know how to create dynamic range.
Here is the condition of my alerts...
From database per data row, i will have either R or G(the logic is pre-calculated )
If the query retrieves R per row for that fact value, then show that fact value as number and display the alert in RED
Similarly for G, display GREEN color.
Can someone help how to accomplish this?

Have you mapped the alerter values correctly ? Can you provide a full screenshot of the alerter configuration screen ?

Query as a Web Service and In List

Hi,
Here is my scenario (Xcelsius 2008 Enterprise SP2):
- List builder object which returns multiple values
I want to use those values to filter a Query as a Web Service data connection (to BW based universe). How is that possible?
My web service contains a Filter defined as <Dimension> In List <Prompt>
I have tried the following:
1) Selected multiple rows in the Input Values/Read From section of the connection
2) Tried to concatenate the individual values using ; and , and then passing the concatenated values to the Read From section of the connection (as one cell)
1) works fine as long as I just select one value, but when I select multiple values, only the first one is used to filter the QaaWS
2) Does not work
Any ideas/suggestion on how to solve this?

I tried this feature of BI Services through WebI Rich Client. But I am having problem with sending values for Prompts using Xceslius. Below is the procedure I followed in developing a report and using BI web service to connect to Xcelsius.
1) Build a report in Web Intelligence rich client along with Query filters (Inlist, Optional Prompts).
2) Activate BI Service and publish the block after exporting the file.
3) Use the WSDL URL to connect to Xcelsius from Data Connection (Add as Query As Web Service and Import it).
4) Method: Get_ReportBlock_<Block name>,
    set input values <Enter_value_s_for_prompt>
        i) Valueofprompt (bind to single values, hard coded)
       ii) Index (leave blank, not binded)
5) set <refresh> as 1 (or true) and <getfromlatestdocumentinstance> as 0 (false)
6) Bind the output values to excel and pull a scorecard component to view the data.
7) Preview the dashboard and now I get this error
                Cannot Access external Data: String index out of range: -1
When I remove both the values inserted in step 5, I get complete data (prompt is not applied). I also have a doubt whether I can pass multiple values for the prompt without using + sign to duplicate the Prompt.
From some of the previous posts I came to know about Value formatting compatibility issue between BI Services and Xcelsius. Which is addressed with two fix packs
1) XI 3.1 SP2.5 (available since last March) for WebIntelligence Rich Client & BI Services, and
2) Xcelsius 2008 SP3.1 (available since last April).
Are these the up to date Fix packs available and will they solve my problem?
Where can I download them from (SAP Market place)? or from our SAP service consultant?

How can you drop a middle column in a list control

dear all, i am trying to use a list control to display a number of columns, only i do not wish to display all of them, more specifically, some of the middle columns. can this be done with the list control, or must i re-arrange the source data. is there a better control that can enable me to drop middle columns.

You can change the way you are picking up the data from Excel sheet. You can assign those two colunms to two consecutive columns and use that section for list components.
Or
You can use the Scorecard Component. Select the data without header, go to appearence hide the unwanted column from there.
If you dont want to show the column during preview, go to the Layout under Appearence section changew the column width (Custom Column Width)

having the same problem. You can have a workaround by adding a second scorecard component behind the first one
then you select only the last 3 rows as data and set the selected on the 3rd row.
Place the first scorecard over the second one and let only the lastrow of the second one be visible.
It is not a very beautiful solution but it works for me.
I hope SAP will fix this issue in the next fix pack !

Need help on Scorecard

Hi All,
I have to design one dashboard of combination of diff Score card and Graphs. it's look like 6 tabs and per selection three scorecard and three graph for diff data.
selection is look like ;
Radio button 1: Current month / YTD / Annual Forecast
Radio Button 2 : Sales View / Margin View
in this scenario for one tab & Current month and Sales View then three score card and three graph.same for financial view.
so total scorecard are 18 and 18 graphs for one tab.that is i can achieve by dynamic visibility.
but in this way total components are going to 250 plus so that it become more complex for maintenance purpose.
My qns is it possible i will create one table based on the vlookup or some excel function which is same for all scorecard (number of rows and columns are same in all tables ) and based on the selection like first tab then current month then sale view : scorecard will show sales view data and if i select margin view then scorecard show margin view data for current month based on the selection in the same scorecard.
if this will work then i can create only three scorecard and three graph only.

Hi Amit,
I feel you should be able to re-use the components between each tab. Instead of tab we should go for labelled menus.
But to copy data to table you should consider using the SourceData component. vlookup or too much overload of excel functions will terribly slow down the dashboard if the data is too much.

PS: Your report must be on Page 98 , so it is able to reference the item P98_NAV_IMAGE. List being a Shared Component it may not be able reference that Item.
