SCPI Message App For Agilent VNA

Last year I got a new Agilent 5071C VNA. This analyzer is an incredible instrument. Unfortunately the NI driver only communicates with the VNA's main features. Many lesser features that enhance testing are left out of the driver. My only alternative is to programmatically use the analyzers complete features are to use SCPI commands. I have a Labview .vi that works great and achieves all that is needed. I assign a SCPI message into a string variable and all is done without having to work in Labview. Unfortunately I'm no Labview guy and feel exposed should a problem arise.
I would like to convert this .vi or replace it with something that can be supported in LabWindows/CVI.
SCPI messages allow me to almost completely removed all DLL's in my project. My question, is there an already developed DLL that will allow me to pass strings (SCPI Commands) which was written in CVI? A DLL that I can use with TestStand 3.5 or later. If so, point me to the link.

Hi,
I recently received an Iphone from a friend of mine so we could text while she's abroad without spending tons of money. But the Iphone is a bit outdated and the ios (4.2.1) can as a result not be updated. This means that i cannot download apps such as whatsapp or viber because they require newer ios updates. I was was wondering if you guys know a messaging app that would work on both old an new ios software.

Not if you use iMessages. iMessages will get sent through the Internet connection just like a whatsapp or vidber message would be.
Have your friend set up an email address for iMessage so you can use it from your iPhone.

Integrated Messaging App for Windows

Does anyone in the community know if Verizon is working on bringing an integrated messaging app to Windows Phone, or Windows 8? I think the service is wonderful, and have been waiting years to have a product like this. So many times I want to send a URL from my computer to a friend's phone.

I don't know about Integrated Messaging being available on Windows 8... but from your computer (or even any phone) you can use these to send an email and it will arrive as a text message on the recipient's phone.

Is there any way to receive Google Talk messages in the iPhone Messages (meaning the text messaging app)?

I want to know if there's any way to receive incoming Google Talk messages in the iPhone Messages app? What I mean by this is the app your receive text messages in. The reason I ask is because in the new "Messages" app for the Mac, you can include your Google Talk account.

If I recall correctly, it's possible to send a Google Talk message out as an SMS (though there are apparently limits on how many in a given time period in order to prevent spam). That would be the only way as far as I know. Messages on the Mac seems to have folded some of iChat's features into it, so it works a bit differently.

In my messages App, AIM is logged in fine but Google Chat won't connect.

In my Messages app, for the Google chat it just keeps attempting to connect and then times out before repeating the process over and over.
If I go to my actual Gmail tab in my broswer, it logs in to Google Chat just fine, so I know it's possible to connect.
This problem only happens when I travel (I'm a comedian). I have no issues on my home network, but I've seen this when connecting in some hotels, airports, and coffee shops (not all).
Any idea why I can't connect to Google Chat in Messages, but can in my browser?

HI,
A Browser Login to Google is going to using port 443 to manage the secure bit about the Login process.
For much of the lifetime of iChat the regular posters in the iChat Forums were recommending changing to port 443 for AIM Logins and in iChat 6 it did actually become the default Login port.
Jabber Logins (and GoogleTalk is a Jabber server) happen on either port 5222 when they don't use SSL and port 5223 when they do.
Google do so the default port is 5223.
In a router the first 1024 ports are open (Allows Web Browsing, mostly port 80, Mail (loads of different ports but 25, 110 m 567, 589, 995 and some common ones) FTP on port 21 and 22, to name some).
Obviously port 5223 is above the 1024 threshold
This can mean in some places this port will not be open.
In some cases you will be able to convince the Hotel or Cafe to open the required ports
At home you have probably got UPnP set to Enabled in your router. (This allows the apps to "tell" the router which ports to open.)
However whilst travelling you may want to log in to GoogleTalk on port 443 (GoogleTalk will accept this)
You have to Disable (Untick the "Enable this account" box) the account to be able to change the port.
It still works with SSL.

Messages app crashes... safari occasionally - iPad Air

Purchased since day one and since the second update my iPad Air keeps crashing when I use the messages app for iMessages. Even when I try to delete messages it acts unstable. What boggles me is that my safari is ok and I don't see anyone else having the Messages app problem on here.
I know nothing about code and such and only the very basic. Any suggestions? I've rebooted, re-installed (new), closed apps, etc. etc....

If I understand correctly your Messages and Settings apps are becoming unresponsive when you have iMessage enabled, and you keep needing to restart and/or reset your iPad. I would quit both of the apps first:
iOS: Force an app to close
Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

My iPhone 4S hangs (gets stuck or unresponsive) when deleting photos from the camera roll or use Messages app

I am now on my third replacement phone from Apple because of this issue. My iPhone 4S frequently hangs (gets stuck), without response, when I click on the trash icon to delete a photo, for about 20-30 seconds before becoming responsive again. I notice that this problem of freezing happens also when I use my Messages app for texts. There is no crash that occurs because the app responds after hanging for some time, therefore does not create a crash report to be sent to Apple. I never had this problem on my iPhone 4, and truly regret upgrading to the new device. I bought this phone for the faster processor, however I ended up with a device that is much slower and unresponsive. At the instruction of the multiple geniuses at the Apple store, I've restored the phone numerous times and set it up as a new device to no avail, and have lost app data every time. I've had three different phones now, and the genius cannot resolve my issue. they've even done what's called a DFU mode restore to restore the device firmware, yet no fix. Is anyone having similar issues? I'm starting to think its a software issue, although the apple store kept replacing my phone with a "remanufactured phone" even though I was within the 30 day return period. When I asked to get a new phone from the box, they told me it couldn't be done since I had my device replaced with a repair model already.

I suffer same. AppleCare can't seem to solve the problem. I did a restore from backup. Then I did a restore as new phone (virgin). Then I did a restore as a new device and then backed up from a stored backup (which does not replace media). To no avail. Some days it works fine, and on others it's extremely bothersome. The major symptoms:
1. It can take 5+ seconds to delete a photo.
2. It can take 10+ seconds for the camera app to activate. In many instances, the moment is long gone.
3. Switching from camera to video can take 5+ seconds.
4. Saving a photo that's been optimized in iOS 5 can take 30 seconds. Absurd.
Note that Photos and Camera aren't the only affected applications. What'sApp can have the same issues on occasion. Voice Memos don't respond like they should, either. I suspect that there's some behind-the-scenes operations with network feed to which iOS gives its full attention (contrary to the UX getting full attention is is historically the case). This makes the user interface painfully slow at times — and, as most of us here would agree — painfully annoying. This might have to do with changes designed around iCloud, but I'm not even (yet) using it.
The bottom line is that what used to be a quick, pretty good phone camera is now totally lackluster and unreliable for fast shots. Sometimes I think Apple spends too much time worrying about form and not enough about function.

Using Verizon Messages app on iPad mini: Accessing Verizon contact list

I am a dumbphone Verizon user. I have an extensive contact list in my phone. I use the Verizon Backup Assistant to make sure I don't lose it. I frequently use the browser version of Verizon Messages as some of the smartphones send me text messages containing graphics I cannot see on the dumbphone. This has been working great for me. My dumbphone Contacts pull up nicely. I assume this is pulling from the Backup Assistant database (Verizon Cloud?).
Enter the tablet. I now have an iPad mini. I've installed the Verizon Messages app. The Integrated Messaging is working as expected and I can access messages from all three devices (dumbphone, tablet, PC). However, with the iPad app I am unable to see my Contacts. Is there some form of syncing that I need to initiate between Verizon Messages on the iPad and Verizon Backup Assistant? Does anyone have tips in this area?
I do not sync any contacts to the iPad Contacts. I have so many different contact lists (Gmail, three personal email accounts, two work email accounts, dumbphone contacts, ...) that I just wouldn't know where to begin. Plus I like having them segregated because there are SO many different people in these lists. I just want to access my dumbphone contacts with the iPad Verizon Messages app.

Lets get those text tones customized to just how you want them! It's going to be easy to get them just how you want them. Please open your Phone app, then select a contact from your All Contacts list. Tap Edit at the top right corner, then scroll down to customize the Text Tone. I apologize, but this is available in the native Message app for the iPhone only. Verizon Messages does not support this feature in iPhones at this time.

Verizon Message+ App

My contact pictures show up in Contacts as well as the Android Messaging app, but not in Verizon's Message+ app. I would love to use the Message+ app for my messaging, but it's really annoying without the contact pictures not showing up. Is there a solution for this? I've checked around and several forum users are having the same issue but not getting solutions.
I have a few pictures showing up - those that are linked to my Google account. Any of my G+, Facebook, or Twitter contacts that are in my messaging do not have their contact pictures displayed.

i appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us. I understand the importance of having the best options available. Currently the Verizon Messaging app does not have the option to sync other mediums photos with the contact photo. It only will use photos that were previously stored for that specific contact. Messages App - 'Accept' button is missing with incoming audio chats

10.9.1 didn't solve a problem I have since 10.9.
If somebody calls me within Messages App for an audio chat, the 'Accept' Button is missing.

Yes. Messages is iChat under the hood.
Lion had iChat 6. Mountain Lion gets Messages 7.x.x and Mavericks Messages 8
There are separate .plist that have iMessages in the name for the account stuff like there are iChat ones for the AIM, Jabber and Yahoo accounts.
(it is similar to the Contacts app still using a .plist for the Address Book).
If your settings are not that different from the defaults then you will not notice anything.
For instance I use Arial Black and a green background (custom choice) in Preferences > Viewing. (the default is Helvetica)
Also in the General section I have the item about gathering all buddy lists unticked so that they are separate.
I also use the Show Status item to display the Menu Bar icon.
In Messages the Chats are all in the main window listed down the left with the highlighted on shown in the right hand pane.
You can double click any of the listed ones and a separate chat will open (the main window can then be closed/hidden) but there is no way to start a new chat in it's own window.
If you create a new Mac User account (System Preferences > Users and Groups) and then login in to that account and use Messages there does it have the the missing buttons ?
This will help prove it is the app (A Restore will be needed) or something about the saved state of the app in your regular User account.

New Messaging App (8520)

My friend recently got a new BB, the Curve 8550 (I think). And it's got a new messaging app, for texts. The new app makes text messages look like BBM messages, instead of the boring one I have now! Just wondering if there was a way to get this onto my Curve 8520. Praying there is as that's one of the main flaws I've found with the phone

shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears
let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the hard drive is being repaired
