Screen Language per User

Hi, is there a way that I can switch the screen language from DE to EN for some users when they login?
We use screen sharing with different users to perform some remote tasks.

Ich glaube nicht dass arbeiten soll.
The language is set at login, and not with the screen sharing mechanisms.
Failing that, it's probably easiest to enable both German and English via the International Menu and let the users select. (That does effect only new windows, however.)

Render page as per User language after login

I am using Jdev 11.1.1.6 with ADFBC and Faces.
In our application, user can set default language. It is expected that after login, all contents should be displayed as per user language locale (assuming locale is supported and locale specific resource bundle exists).
So there is SignInPage and HomePage. I need to access the DB (using methodAction binding for a AM method, that reads the user preference and returns the language) before forwarding to HomePage.
Code to forward to HomePage is something like this:

RequestDispatcher dispatcher =
request.getRequestDispatcher(forwardUrl);
dispatcher.forward(request, response);

End User locale handling is done by defining ViewHandler class in faces-config file. Implementation is explained here
Problems faced:
1) I tried to execute the operation binding but got null pointer...in FacesCtrlActionBinding._execute(FacesCtrlActionBinding.java:252)
2) I tried to redirect using external.encodeActionURL(actionURL) but got illegalStateException...Response is already committed
It works fine if user after login either just press F5 to refresh the page OR reset the language again using the preference screen.
How do I get it to work at login? Where can I tap-in the methodAction call between SignInPage and HomePage, so that HomePage is rendered according to language?
Any help/pointer is highly appreciated.

If you mean ADF operation binding then this only is available if a request is routed through the binding filter. Note that the PageDef file for a page needs to be parsed before the content becomes available as an object at runtime.

Why don't you use facesContext --> externalContext --> redirect(...) to perform the redirect, The dispatcher.forward() surely doesn't do this

Programmatic authentication as explained in the Fusion Developer Guide (chapter 30 if I recall correctly) would give you a chance to set the language. However, the language is not set on the ViewObject but should be set on JSF by changing the default language, e.g.
FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getViewRoot().setLocale(Locale.ENGLISH);

Per-user screen sharing?

I'm interested in setting up a server system to which different users on different computers can connect and have individual workspaces. I understand this "per-user screen sharing" feature is not active in Lion, is that correct? Also I have not discovered information about the capability in Lion Server, can anyone shed any light on this please?

The Apple provided feature set will likely disappoint you. Look at AquaConnect if you are trying to recreate Terminal Service.

Change selection screen language in runtime

Hello Experts,
I would like to ask for your help in the following problem. I have to change a report's selection screen language to English ifthe user logs on a particular language. Is that possible anyway in run time? I've already tried to do it with the SET LOCALE LANGUAGE at the INITIALIZATION event, but without any success.

Those selection screen elements will get loaded before initialization event itself.
if you want to change the language then change the language in LOAD-OF-PROGRAM event like this..
load-of-program.

Per-user bandwith contracts

Hello,
One of our customers have one Cisco WLC 2100 (firmware 5.2) with 4 AP Mesh 1522, in a city deployment. In order to achieve local regulatory, has to implement bandwidth limitations per user.
I got screen captures of WLC QoS Profiles options, with Average Data Rate in Per-User Bandwidth Contracts.
So my question is, do I need any other equipment to achieve per user bandwidth limitation? Can it be done with WLC QoS options?
If any other equipment needed, which one could I use?

Yes, you can modify your settings for per-user bandwidth contracts based on a specific QoS Profile on the WLC. You can then set your various WLANs to the desired QoS profile. The instructions to do so can be found here:

There are a few caveats with this configuration:
1. To modify QoS roles on the WLC, you will need to disable the radio networks on the WLC, so there will be an outage during configuration.
2. The per-user bandwidth contracts on the WLC are applied in the downstream direction only. In other words, the wireless clients will not have limited upload capability.
Other solutions may exist on your switch/gateway devices depending on their available features.

Had blue screen with primary user, removed .plist, now I get beach ball

Now what??? I finally got through all the red donuts to gain access to my main user (suffering from a blue screen attack) folders from one of my other 3 admin accounts and found the .plists (finder, dock, system preferences, sidebar, desktop, recent items) and deleted as requested by an earlier problem someone else had with a G4.
I have a G4 Power PC running OS 10.4.11, my main user had symptoms very similar to previous cases on 061810...was working fine, got a beach ball after viewing a youtube video. Did an Apple-s restart and did an fsck -yf/reboot to restart (weekly+ routine on my G5 at NASA) and run Disk Utilities to repair permissions.
I login as usual, and then the login window showed up again and then I got a blue screen. The user files seem to be intact, but I have no where to copy them to if I have to reinstall OS. Now that I've finally removed the "offending .plists" I can no longer login to any of my 5 accounts. 3 are admin and 2 are managed (wife and a simple backup)...only way I can do anything is in Safe Mode which takes forever to start. The OSX partition has 35GB used and 10GB available, OS9.2 drive has 7GB used and 2 GB available.
I just read where someone was instructed to do an fsck -fy and get 5 phases, so I will try that, but when I did the last *fsck -yf* it said the disk appears normal.

You didn't perhaps delete the plists in the main Library instead of the Users>YourUserName>Lirary did you?

That's pretty thin for free space in OSX these days, but it appears to be time for a relatively painless Archive & Install, which gives you a new/old OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space and no Disk corruption, and is relatively quick & painless...

Just be sure to select Preserve Users & Settings.
The best way around your short free space is to best way around it is to do a Custom install, and eliminate enough Printer Drivers, Languages, Fonts, and Applications you don't need.

Screenie thread per WM/DE or one thread a month?

Following the results of this poll, it has been democratically decided that having a thread per WM/DE is better than the current method.
However, having one screenie thread per month was also proposed and supported so this new poll seeks to find the most popular approach.
The main problem I can see is practical - would we lock the old threads each month - or leave them open for people to post comments? I think the latter but it is then up to posters to post new screenies in the new month thread!
I reckon people will be dying to get there screenie top of the month tho - I ask you, what a bunch of geeks, eh?
The poll will run for 14 days only - if you can't get your thumb out and vote by then don't complain later!

I think the the threads on the forum here are going to stay for a while, i dont like the way the gallery that has been implemented works.
Firstly theres all the crud about a 'cart' everywhere, and i can tell ya, nobody's gonna be selling screenshots.
secondly, it's not the most usable thing, theres no "show me the last 5 screenshots uploaded" nor is there an easy or obvious way to make a comment on a particular screenshot, i eventually found the add comment link.

Your code example cannot work because the "session" scope
doesn't exist until your application scope is defined. So you have
to handle this manually. Here's how you can get it done. First,
define your application to the maximum sessiontimeout you want to
have.

Then, I don't know how you are doing your login
authentication but when you have authenticated the user, you need
to define the userid and the most recent activity in the session.
Also determine your timeout value based on the userid. See example:

Amount of Resources CPU and Memory per user

We are looking to deploy a Line of Business Application via RemoteApp and a custom template. The application requires a significant amount of RAM and CPU, can someone tell me who much RAM and CPUs are allocated per session \ user? I would expect
that we would use the Standard tier if any difference to resources available.

Hi James,
Currently there is no way to configure resources other than selecting either Basic or Standard. If you would like a lower per-VM user density (and thus higher resources for each user) what you can do is create more collections, and only assign
a small number of users to each.
For example, say you only wanted to have a maximum of 4 users on each VM, providing typically at least 1 vCPU per user. In this case you would create collections with the Basic plan, each linked
to the same template image, and only assign a maximum of 4 user accounts on the user access tab of each. Assuming each user uses 80+ hours a month, the total (before discounts) cost for each collection would be $228/month, making each user
cost about $57/month, slightly less than equivalent cost under Standard plan pricing if you factor in resources per user.
You probably already know this, but I will explain how scaling works normally for others that may read this. Azure RemoteApp will automatically create more VMs for each collection as needed to handle user load (Scale-Out) and shut down VMs when the
user load is reduced (Scale-In). The key thing that affects this scaling mechanism is the maximum concurrent users allowed on each VM, which for Standard is 10.
In your case you are asking if you can have more resources per user, hence my instructions above for creating multiple collections and limiting the number of assigned users to less than 10 each.
Depending on your unique needs it may make more sense to create a custom RDS deployment on Azure IaaS VMs. In this case you could control the size/type of VM used, user density, etc. Downside is you have to set up and manage more
RDS components than you do if you use Azure RemoteApp.

CUPS 8.6 - Supporting Multiple SIP Domains on a per-user basis

Working on a CUPS 8.6 PoC with a customer who currently is running a deployed OCS environment.
Users all sign into a single domain internally but have multiple SMTP domains for email as this customer has many different companies they have aquired.
OCS is able to support and route multiple SIP domains by specifing the SIP address under AD User settings such that two users both signed into the same OCS server can send IM's to each other even though they have different SIP addresses. sip:[email protected] , sip:[email protected]
CUPS on the other hand does not seem to allow this on a per-user basis. It places every user in the sip domain that the server is a member of.
The Jabber client allows you to specify a domain but I am not how this is used as the actual user account in CUPS is only ever the one domain and if you try and specify a different domain in the Jabber Connection Settings, it will not allow you to login.
It is not a big deal for internal communications if everyone is on the same domain, but where it is important is for future B2B IM. Users need to be able to give out THEIR IM address with THEIR respective domain.
Does anyone else know for a fact that I will only be able to have one domain per CUP cluster?
Any thoughts on this design?

Not sure on the design perspective but as for CUPS Domain, we can only have single domain per cluster. As you have already found out that for any user licensed for CUPS, their IM address would be userid@CUPSDomain
CUPS does have funtionality of federating with foreign domains such as AOL/GoogleTalk/WebEx Connect.

Not sure if this is a game or app or not...it shows nothing about it and explains nothing about it...but it is there on the demo video on the apple website for the add to upgrade to ios 5...it shows the user dragging threads and the little icon monster at the bottom of the screen catches them

Yea thats a game called "Cut the Rope" and it can be found in the App Store for $0.99 or you can buy the Lite version for free.
