Screwy Timestamp in log? why?

I'm seeing this in my logs. The time at the start of the line indicating when the event was written to the log seems correct. But the Timestamp later in the log entry seems way off. some appear to go backwards. Is that right?
Thanks,
Andrew

Hello,
The information is correct. I think the problem is that the name Timestamp is a little misleading. It is the time that that member joined the cluster so it will stay the same for the life of that member.

  • Tool for timestamp in logs and traces

    Hi,
Last year I saw an utility for converting timestamps in logs and traces into human readable format.
It was a resident program in the tray bar, with a green icon with letter "H" in it, activated by Ctrl+F9.
Does anyone have a link to download this tool?
    10x in advance

Meanwhile, I found a better sollution, in WebAS itself.
It's called lv.bat (for Win, otherwise lv.sh), and it stays in \usr\sap\...\j2ee\admin\logviewer-standalone\
    It has two great options:
    >lv.bat sourceFile -o outputFile
converts milliseconds into human readable format and stores it into output file
    >lv.bat sourceFile -t
similar to tail -f command in linux, or tomcat console
I did some associations in winddows context menu, so now I can read or watch log files with one single click.
    really great utility!

  • How do I read or change TimeStamp in log files?

We have deployed BIPublisher 10.1.3.4 EAR into OC4J container. I am seeing the following timestamp in BI log files..
    [010909_032352774][][STATEMENT] [org.quartz.jobStore.isClustered]=[false]
    [010909_032352774][][STATEMENT] [org.quartz.jobStore.misfireThreshold]=[60000]
    [010909_032352774][][STATEMENT] [org.quartz.threadPool.threadCount]=[10]
    [010909_032352774][][STATEMENT] [org.quartz.jobStore.driverDelegateClass]=[org.quartz.impl.jdbcjobstore.oracle.OracleDelegate]
    [010909_032352774][][STATEMENT] [org.quartz.dataSource.myDS.driver]=[oracle.jdbc.OracleDriver]
    [010909_032352774][][STATEMENT] [org.quartz.jobStore.dataSource]=[myDS]
I can understand the first part 010909 as the date but I don't know how to read 032352774 value. Nothing is specified in the documentation. I am seeing this timestamp in the log file under OPMN Logs folder. I am not sure why Debug info goes here instead of application.log file.
    Your help is greatly appreciated..
    Thanks!
    Srini

The timestamp more than likely comes from a Java class using a form of UTC timestamp format. Sometimes the UTC format, at the end SSS part is based on StDZ, or portion of a second and the timezone desigator. The timezone/timestamp format is embedded where BIP gets initialized. It is possible to de-code EAR/WAR/JAR files and find the date format method, but then you are altering source code and that has support implications. In the big scheme of things, no big deal.

  • DSC 8.6.1 wrong timestamps for logged data with Intel dual core

    Problem Description :
Our LV/DCS 8.6.1 application uses shared variables to log data to Citadel. It is running on many similar computers at many companies just fine, but on one particular Intel Dual Core computer, the data in the Citadel db has strange shifting timestamps. Changing bios to startup using single cpu fixes the problem. Could possibly set only certain NI process(es) to single-cpu instead (but which?). The old DSCEngine.exe in LV/DSC 7 had to be run single-cpu... hadn't these kind of issues been fixed by LV 8.6.1 yet?? What about LV 2009, anybody know?? Or is it a problem in the OS or hardware, below the NI line??
This seems similar to an old issue with time synch server problems for AMD processors (Knowledge Base Document ID 4BFBEIQA):
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/1EFFBED34FFE66C2862573D30073C329
    Computer info:
    - Dell desktop
    - Win XP Pro sp3
    - 2 G RAM
    - 1.58 GHz Core 2 Duo
    - LV/DSC 8.6.1 (Pro dev)
    - DAQmx, standard instrument control device drivers, serial i/o
(Nothing else installed; OS and LV/DSC were re-installed to try to fix the problem, no luck)
    Details:
A test logged data at 1 Hz, with these results: for 10-30 seconds or so, the timestamps were correct. Then, the timestamps were compressed/shifted, with multiple points each second. At perfectly regular 1-minute intervals, the timestamps would be correct again. This pattern repeats, and when the data is graphed, it looks like regular 1-sec interval points, then more dense points, then no points until the next minute (not ON the minute, e.g.12:35:00, but after a minute, e.g.12:35:24, 12:36:24, 12:37:24...). Occasionally (but rarely), restarting the PC would produce accurate timestamps for several minutes running, but then the pattern would reappear in the middle of logging, no changes made.
    Test info:
    - shared variable configured with logging enabled
    - data changing by much more than the deadband
    - new value written by Datasocket Write at a steady 1 Hz
    - historic data retrieved by Read Traces
    - Distributed System Manager shows correct and changing values continuously as they are written

    Meg K. B. ,
It sounds like you are experiencing Time Stamp Counter (TSC) Drift as mentioned in the KB's for the AMD Multi-Core processors. However, according to this wikipedia article on TSC's, the Intel Core 2 Duo's "time-stamp counter increments at a constant rate.......Constant TSC behavior ensures that the duration of each clock tick is
uniform and supports the use of the TSC as a wall clock timer even if
the processor core changes frequency." This seems to suggest that it would be not be the case that you are seeing the issue mentioned in the KBs.
Can you provide the exact modle of the Core 2 Duo processor that you are using?

  • How to append timestamp to log file in SQL*Plus ?

    Version: 11.2.0.3
Platform : RHEL 5.8 (But I am looking for platform independant solution)
I want to append the timestamp to spooled log file name in SQL*Plus.
The spooled log filename should look like
WMS_APP_23-March-2013.logI tried the following 3 methods found in the google. But none of them worked !
    I tried this
    col sysdt noprint new_value sysdt_var
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'yyyymmdd_hh24miss') sysdt FROM DUAL;
    spool run_filename_&sysdt_var.Logas suggested in
    http://power2build.wordpress.com/2011/03/11/sqlplus-spool-name-with-embedded-timestamp/
    and this
    spool filename with timestamp
    col sysdt noprint new_value sysdt
    SELECT TO_CHAR(SYSDATE, 'yyyymmdd_hh24miss') sysdt FROM DUAL;
    spool run_filename_&sysdt..Logas suggested in

    prompt &file_time
    spool logfile_id&file_time..logas suggested in

None of the above worked in RHEL or MS DOS. Any workaround ?

I have tested your suggestions. But I still couldn't append the date to the logfile in RHEL or MS DOS SQL*Plus
Here are the attempts I've made. I am posting how the logfile looked like after every test.

  • Add Timestamp to log out put

    Hello,
I would like to add timestamp to sql output file but can't seem to find the solution on the web.
Tried to use "set echo on", "set serveroutput on", "set time on" but it does not add timestamp to actual output
    as below example shows.
    set echo on
    set serveroutput on
    set time on
    set linesize 150
    spool dba_ts.log
    select tablespace_name, status, contents, logging
    from dba_tablespaces
    order by tablespace_name;
    spool off
    ========
    13:13:00 SQL>
    13:13:00 SQL> select tablespace_name, status, contents, logging
    13:13:00 2 from dba_tablespaces
    13:13:00 3 order by tablespace_name;
    TABLESPACE_NAME STATUS CONTENTS LOGGING
    AKD ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING
    AKX ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING
    APD ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING
I would like to see something similar to below where date/time is stamped to each line generated in log file.
    06-28-2009 02:07:32 - AKD ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING
    06-28-2009 02:07:32 - AKX ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING
    06-28-2009 02:07:32 - APD ONLINE PERMANENT LOGGING
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi,
    Welcome to the forum!
The function SYSDATE will return the current date and time.
Use TO_CHAR to format it the way you want, for example:
    SELECT  TO_CHAR (SYSDATE, 'MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')  AS dt_tm
...The value returned by SYSDATE will not change within a query, even if the query takes several seconds or minutes to run.
SET   TIME  ON(as you already have) will print the time (in HH24:MI:SS format) before each prompt.

  • Avoid RAID-5 on Redo Logs- WHY?

    Hello all,
I read that, one should avoid using RAID Level 5 on Redo Log Files. Can anyone help me make understand this concept?
    Why it is recommended so?
Also, it will be a great help if you can provide me articles explaining the various levels of RAID and their effect/significance on database.
    Thanks in advance.
    Himanshu

In general, RAID usually impacts write operations more than read operation.
This is specially true where parity need to be calculated (RAID 3, RAID 5, etc).
Online or archived redo log files can be put on RAID 1 devices.
You should not use RAID 5. 'TEMP' tablespace data files should also go on
RAID1 instead of RAID5 as well. The reason for this is that streamed
write performance of distributed parity (RAID5) isn't as good as that of
    simple mirroring (RAID1).

  • Can anyone tell from this log why my mac keeps crashing and forcing a restart?

Can anyone tell fromm the log below why my iMac keeps randomly crashing and forcing a restart? It is happening way too often now and it's driving me crazy!
Only just a few days ago I wiped my drive clean and installed a fresh OS copy of mountain lion, I then though it may be a Ram issue but a thorough test said everything was ok and I had a memory monitor window open last time it crashed which showed that barely any of the memory was in use!?
Really need some help here guys!
    Thanks in advance!

Right so I decided to erase my harddrive completely using disk utility, then went on to install a fresh version of mountain lion (both by holding down cmd-r when booting up)
With a fresh system I tried what had previously casued a kernel crash, which wa copying a video to my downloads folder, selecting it and then hitting spacebar to preview it, the video plays fine for about a minute then it jolts, freezes and then retarts with a white screen saying I need to restart.
Below is the report, im so confused!

  • Invalid timestamp in logs

    Hi
I've found this in server logs:
    005-02-21 11:22:16 CET HPServer
    Warning Log Management
The date field is probably invalid on
    D:\BEA\XX\XXServer\XXServer.log00238 line 518.
    Message ignored during search
    while:
    BEA-170014
Warning: The date field is probably invalid on fname line lineNum. The message was ignored during the search.
    Description
The date and time information in the log entry field is not correctly formatted.
    Cause
A timestamp might not be formatted for the locale setting on the machine.
    Action
Correct the locale setting for the server machine.
    let's see XXServer.log00238:
there are 2 different kind of timestamps ->
    ####<2005-02-17 07:52:53 CET>
    and
    ####<Feb 17, 2005 8:04:20 AM CET>
what can cause this ? where can i change type of timestamp ?
    thanks a lot

Meanwhile, I found a better sollution, in WebAS itself.
It's called lv.bat (for Win, otherwise lv.sh), and it stays in \usr\sap\...\j2ee\admin\logviewer-standalone\
    It has two great options:
    >lv.bat sourceFile -o outputFile
converts milliseconds into human readable format and stores it into output file
    >lv.bat sourceFile -t
similar to tail -f command in linux, or tomcat console
I did some associations in winddows context menu, so now I can read or watch log files with one single click.
    really great utility!

  • Incorrect timestamp on logs exported to Excel

Exporting logged data to Excel loses the original timestamp.  The time in the Excel file is the system time at which the Excel file was created.  The entry in the spreadsheet for time X0 is just 0.  The original log file (within SignalExpress) has the correct starting time for the data but that time doesn't seem to get passed to Excel.  I have the timestam option set to 'Absolute'
    Thanks,
    Dave Detty

    Hi Dave,
I've been able to track down the issue, and I filed a bug report to have it fixed.
It also looks like the date and time should be that of the timestamp of the first signal, and the X0 is designed to be the offset of each signal in the file from the Date and Time; which is really only useful when there are multiple signals in 1 file.
I wasn't able to find a workaround for this. I'm very sorry...

  • How can i convert the firefox-history-timestamp in places.sqlite into a normal date format? The firefox-timestamp is not equivalent to the unix-timestamp, that's why I ask. I could not find a conversion function. Does anyone know something about this?

As I opened the places.sqlite with an sqlite-editor I found out that firefox saves the last_visit_date via a timestamp which is 16 digits long. I realized that the first 10 digits are similar to the corresponding unix-timestamp but not equal. So.. how can i convert the firefox-timestamp into a normal date? Or into the corresponding unix-timestamp?

Write a bash script or 'C' program to change the date format and then use the sql update function to receive the stdio output 'where date_field='embeded date value'.

  • Log4j.xml ----timestamp error-the hour is not correct in the logs. HELP !!!

I need your help to correct the following issue:
-timestamp in logs is one hour ahead than the server time.
    I am using jboss-4.0.3SP1 and jdk1.5.0_10
In order to solve this problem I have tried almost everything that I could find about this on internet:
    1) I have used the tzdupdate()
    tzupdater version 1.3.40-b01
JRE time zone data version: tzdata2011h
Embedded time zone data version: tzdata2011h
    2) copied the log4j.properties to WEB-INF/classes
    /opt/jboss-4.0.3SP1/server/mcdp-std/deploy/axis2.war/WEB-INF/classes/log4j.properties
    3) also I've checked to have the same log4j.jar
    The log4j.xml looks like this:

Rather you can use the Log4j which is the best I feel for logging messages.. You can get a free download from apache.. You can control the way messages are logged by simply changing a XML file!!

  • How to log successful logins to a syslog server in NX-OS

Does anyone know how to do this in NX-OS?  I do it in IOS with the following commands:
    login on-failure log
    login on-success log
    logging x.x.x.x
With that I get a syslog message that I can then log to a file to track who has logged into which device and when.  But I can't find the syntax to do the same thing in the Nexus switches that we have.  Does anyone know what the equivalent commands are?
    Thanks,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,
By default, failed logins are logged.
You can checked the log using:
show logging logfile | last 15
and for every logging failed (by default) you will get something like this:
    2012 Dec 18 14:51:08 Nexus5010-B %AUTHPRIV-3-SYSTEM_MSG: pam_aaa:Authentication
failed for user en from 2.2.2.1 - login
To get the success-login to show up in the logs we need to increase the level of the authpriv to 5 (it is 3 by default), and doing this will add a new log for failed or succesful connections.
    Use the following command:
    Nexus5010-A(config)# logging level authpriv 5
You can check loggin levels by using:
    #show logging level
After you do this with the logging level you will see in the log something like this when a succesful login takes place:
    2005 Jan  6 03:29:48 Nexus5010-A %AUTHPRIV-5-SYSTEM_MSG:    admin :TTY=unknown
    ; PWD=/var/sysmgr/vsh ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/usr/bin/strings/proc/18340/environ
    - sudo
Now for a failed login and after increasing the authpriv level you will see the following logs:
    2005 Jan  6 03:31:36 Nexus5010-A %AUTHPRIV-4-SYSTEM_MSG: pam_unix(aaa:auth):check pass; user unknown - aaad
    2005 Jan  6 03:31:36 Nexus5010-A %AUTHPRIV-5-SYSTEM_MSG: pam_unix(aaa:auth):
    aut
    hentication failure; logname= uid=0 euid=0 tty= ruser= rhost=  - aaad
