Script contact sheet

Hi there,
I'm new to Bridge CC and I'm looking at helping a photographer friend streamline his time consuming manual process.
He currently has a folder containing many sub-folders which each contain 6 images.
He works his way through each sub-folder selecting all 6 images and clicking the pdf generation button on the Output panel to generate a contact sheet using a custom template including a footer and watermark.
I think I can manage looping through the folders but I'm unsure on how to start the pdf generation or apply the template and can't see anything about this in the SDK documentation.
Does anyone have any pointers? Links to useful resources or code snippets would also be great?
Thanks in advance

The Bridge Output Panel is not scriptable.
You might be able to write a script to create a csv file with a list of filenames to be used with Data Driven Graphics.

Good luck.

    Grato Pela Atenção...

    You have three options:
1 - c.pfaffenbichler's    idea of saving all open files after running CSII
2 - Use Contact Sheet X. It has a lot of options for saving sheets: ps-scripts -  Browse /ContactSheetX/v2.1 at SourceForge.net
CSX, for the most part, has a lot more features than CSII. Also, I wrote both so I speak from experience.
3 - Modify CSII to save the sheets. There is legacy code from CSX in CSII for saving files. It should work if you make the following changes:
         a. change the line
              self.saveSheet = false;
         to
              self.saveSheet = true;
         b. change   self.outputFolder to the folder where you want the sheet to be saved.
         c. in the method ContactSheetII.prototype.saveDocument comment out or delete this line:
             Error.rutimeError(9500, ZStrings.UnknownInternalError);
This function will also require other mods (e.g. getSaveOpts is not defined and should be replaced with code to create save options
for whatever file type you want to save your sheets as).
If you're not a scripter, options 1 or 2 are probably your best choices.

I see that you can print a contact sheet but how can you make a contact sheet that you can email where receiver can open the thumbnails and view?

    Hi,
You can either use Bridge and the Output workspace, or grab optional plug-ins for CS5 and run Ps on OSX in the 32 bit mode. (Or grab the excellent 3rd party script, Contact Sheet X, and run that in Ps. http://ps-scripts.sourceforge.net/ContactSheetX/csx.html).

  • How can I create a contact sheet?

I've got 32 PSD files of a customers paintings that we use to make greeting cards. She just turned 100 last week and her daughter in law came in to pick some up and asked if we could make a sheet with small versions of the paintings on them with the file names so that she can remember them. She thought we only had 5. I told her we have more like 30. So the old lady doesn't know what we do and don't have here.
Since they are Photoshop files, I can't just toss em into iPhoto to create a contact sheet. I guess I could do a batch convert to JPG on all of them and then drop those into iPhoto but is there a way to do this within Photoshop? just open up all 32 PSD files and create some sort of a contact sheet with file names under each image? Maybe 6 to a page?

  • Indesign Contact Sheet script for Adobe Bridge 1.0.4.6

Our company currently has all the Adobe CS2 products but as stand alone applications and not part of the Creative Suite. Therefore, we don't seem to have all the functionality of the suite.
In particular the script to create Contact Sheets from Indesign CS2 of items through the script in Adobe Bridge.
Can anyone tell me if there is a way to add the functionality of the contact sheet script for Indesign to Bridge without having the Adobe Creative Suite? And Why?
We are looking for something to replace an extension used by Quark to create contact sheets from Badia software. I am loath to upgrade this extension unless absolutely necessary. We receave thousands of photo's a week and output contact sheets for our editors to pick and choose which photos they want/like.
    Thanks in advance.

Why? Are you talking CPU hours or staff-hours? Does your workflow require heavy

  • Script for mulipage contact sheet?

Don't know if this belongs here or in Photoshop forum since it invloves a Photoshop feature called by Bridge -- but since Bridge is where I typically use it...
Currently I'm creating contact sheets from folders selected within Bridge (or thumbnails selected in Bridge) and the only way I can quickly get them into a mulitpage contact sheet/catalog format is to then use the PDF Presentation Multipage-Document feature with the add-open-pages selection. Then I can save it as a catalog and delete the Photoshop contact sheet pages. Works well enough but it is awkward to have to first select the open contact sheet files for the PDF Presentation and then close them all and delete them. Also, in the PDF Presentation options I have to deselect all the other files in the folder one by one if the contact sheet was selected from files (or just deselect the folder if I went that route). Often pretty simple but with large numbers of files (and thus a large number of Contact Sheet pages) it gets more complicated. Seems like a really good opportunity for a script (or action or plugin). Does anyone know if such a critter is available? Many file browsers have multipage contact sheet/catalog options but none of them are as well integrated with PS and ACR as Bridge so I've stopped using them. I sure miss those catalog files though.
Couldn't find anything in Studio Exchange under either Photoshop or Bridge (actions, plugins, or scripts) but that doesn't mean much since there is so much there I usually miss just what I need!
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Works for me!
    Good Luck.

  • Special Contact Sheet Script

I am looking for someone to create a custom InDesign script.  I need the script to take placed images from an existing document and copy them to a new document at the same size and crop.  It needs to be in a contact sheet format along with the filename under each image.
If you can do this, please contact with your rate or any question you may have.

Okay, I seem to have a pretty high rating over here so let me give it a shot. Disclaimer: gosh my head is stuffed courtesy of the Yearly Flu, so this might not work as you thought it would. (Proper Rectangle Packing, for instance, is so problematic it's a mathematical problem all of its own and I wouldn't dare to give it a shot even without the Sniffin' Cold.)

  • Create InDesign Contact Sheet script not working

I'm using InDesign CS3 and need to create contact sheets for multiple InDesign files. The contact sheets need to have a label with the file name of the document and the page number of each InDesign page in the document.
I tried to use the Tools > InDesign > Create InDesign Contact Sheet command in the Bridge, but get a message: "Selected Files that are not of the correct type will be skipped" After clicking OK, another message appears: "No Files Selected"
I wonder if I'm misunderstanding this script.
I also tried the Print Thumbnails command, but that doesn't allow me to add the file name and page numbers.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions to lead me on the right path.

Due to a prolonged, intense project, I'm just now getting back to the problem of creating contact sheets from InDesign.
I tried the revised script that includes INDD files as suggested by Kasyan, and it works fine.
However, I apologize for not explaining more clearly, but what I really need to do is create a sheet of miniature InDesign pages, similar to what prints out when choosing Thumbnails in the print dialog. Except that I need the bleed area to show.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

  • I want to customize the script that creates ID contact sheets

I'm using Bridge and InDesign CS3. I just discovered the powerful tool of creating the contact sheets with Bridge. I was wondering if I could edit/customize the script that creates this function.
I do not want a 1 pt border around my images or caption boxes. Does it use a JSX file and if so which one? I'm on a mac.

I have added this script into Bridge following the path listed. When I generate an indesign Contact sheet I get an error??
    http://www.twistedjunkie.eclipse.co.uk/images/error.jpg
not sure whats happening. I need to generate a contact sheet without reducing the image smaller than the A4 page, and without the keyline.

Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Photoshop CS5 Optional Plugins
    Adobe - Photoshop : For Macintosh : Photoshop CS5 Optional Plug-Ins (Mac)
    Optional Automate Plug-ins:
NOTE: We strongly encourage the use of the CS5 Optional Automate Plug-Ins Installer over attempting to manually install any of the following Optional Automate Plug-ins:
    • Contact Sheet II
    • Picture Package (ContactSheetII)
    • Web Photo Gallery (WebContactSheetII) plus presets

    INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
Refer to the included ReadMe file that has plug-in descriptions and installation instructions.

Note these also work in the perpetual CS6 Windows version not the Subscription CS6 version.  Some may work on the Mac however Picture Package(Contact sheet II) will not work on the MAC for Mac CS6 is 64Bit only and there was only a 32Bit plug-in for Mac CS6.  There are 32bit and 64bit versions for windows. • NDesign Contact Sheet not working in CS 2

Im sorry for double posting (I have already posted this before at http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c061ba7/1 but nobody has replied... this area may me mor appropriate anyway.
I a computer at work with CS 2 and Vista on it. Everything is fully up to date. When I try to run the contact sheet script from the tools menu it brings up a dialog box saying "Starting..." (if InDesign isn't open it will open it) and then it just sits there for about 2 mins and then it stops. InDesign doesn't even start a new document.
Anybody have any ideas as to what is going on and how I might be able to fix it? (and yes I am using it correctly... have been using CS 2 for years and have used this feature many other times in past jobs)
    Thanks

We have had this problem at work for a couple of years, with no resolution from Adobe. On our Macs it comes and goes - sometimes they can do the contact sheets and sometimes they can't. On the PCs it either works or it doesn't. In our unfortunate experience, uninstalling CS2 and then re-installing doesn't help. However, it's working like a dream since we upgraded to CS3 (except for the little fact that it is creating frames around every image - trying to find a resolution for that, hence trawling the forums for info)!

  • File Path in Bridge Contact Sheet?

Does anyone know how to add the complete file path to the caption in Bridge/InDesign contact sheets? I'm using Bridge & InDesign CS3 for Windows. I know I can get all the files in subfolders by using the flattened view in Bridge to make my contact sheet, but I still need to know each image's location once it's on the contact sheet. It seems like this should be pretty a pretty basic task. Any help?

    Hi DeNoveau,
I was struggling with this same issue. I found a solution that is somewhat helpful. Not ideal but better than nothing.
    1. Create the InDesign contact sheet as you normally would.
    2. Choose Window > Automation > Scripts
    3. In the Javascript folder, find LabelGraphics.jsx
    4. In the panel that comes up, choose File Path
That should do it. As I said, not ideal but better than nothing.

  • Photoshop CC and Bridge CC - Creating a contact sheet.

I am really frustrated that the process has changed in making a contact sheet as a PDF. I'm trying to follow the instructions on Adobe Photoshop help with little success. Contact Sheet II is not a good option given you have to create multiple Photoshop files. Am I missing something? What happened to the "Output" option in Bridge? If you shoot 300 pictures you end up with 15 separate Photoshop files instead of 1 PDF file. How is this better for a contact sheet? My guess is there is a fix out there that I haven't found yet.
In part of the instructions online you are instructed to..."If the Output space is not listed, open Adobe Bridge Preferences (Ctrl + K on Windows or Command + K on Mac OS), select the Startup Scripts panel, and select Adobe Output Module." I went there but "Output Module" is not an option in the list.
I'm a high school Photography teacher who is learning the latest Photoshop software. Previously I worked in Photoshop CS4 and creating a contact sheet was very simple! My tech department is unable to help so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. This new process is really cumbersome for the students. Thank you.

I have several issues that I hope you can help me out with. I am a professional photographer with a Mac with OS X 10.9.4:
    - I can only make ONE contact sheet in CS6 (from AUTOMATE) from pictures indicated in Bridge. If I want to make another contact sheet I need to shut down and restart CS6.
    - Camera RAW: if I change any setting in Camera RAW (except exposure), having first optimized the exposure, the exposure will automatically return to zero. Sometimes when I've set exposure and cropped the picture in Camera RAW Plug-In, the effects are lost just by opening the picture in CS6.
    - Sometimes if I crop a picture in Camera RAW, it may be impossible to open it again from Bridge!
    - I cannot do lens corrections in Camera RAW, at all. The Camera RAW comment is that "it cannot load the correct lens type". Why?

Are you writing that when you select  a large number of images in the bridge  like a hundred thumbnails  when you then use Bridge menu Tools>Photoshop>Contact Sheet II that Photoshop only produces a single contact sheet for the first few thumbnails and fails to produce additional contact sheets for the other selected thumbnails? Photoshop contact sheet II script should create as many contact sheet as needed  for the numbers of thumbnails selected.  Perhaps the script is hung or you have exhausted  your machine resources.
ACR Crop tool does not crop the RAW file it records crop settings to be used during the conversion process.    Camera RAW DATA is not altered.  The only changes made to RAW Files is ACR Metadata may be added.  Anything you do in ACR can be un-done in ACR.    If you can not open a RAW File in ACR the Files is either corrupt or from a new camera ACR does not support yet.  ACR should not corrupt RAW files.
If you do not have a lens profile for ACR I think you should still be able to do lens correction manually in ACR.
Some of what you write I don't follow could you post some screen captures of your problems often a picture helps.
