Script to automatically launch tunebar with iTunes...or any apps together..

First off, I'm very and I mean VERY new to all this (Macs and definitely any kind of scripting).
I often run two complementary apps together (makes sense). For example, I now use TuneBar with iTunes, and although it seems in the preferences that TuneBar can always start when iTunes does...for some reason, for me, it does not.
Being new to Mac, I followed the commonplace information Apple puts out. First I tried automator, which I didn't find quite immediately self-explanatory and encompassing as advertized since I couldn't find any sort of "If" event. (But maybe it's just me being new/dumb). While trying to read/learn what to do, it seemed the right thing to do was go another route-- start searching for scripts.
Finally after sifting endless irrelevant pages/posts (again, could be my lack of search terms), I just experimented by modifying a script that someone had written to check and launch a server's application after a crash.
What (I think) the script does is checks if iTunes is running, and if it is, then it starts TuneBar. Yee ha! It goes as follows:

if ((get name of the processes) contains "iTunes") then
tell application "TuneBar"
activate
end tell
end if
end tell
Apple is right, the logic seems very easily understood (open/close brackets or commands). I then placed it in Library>iTunes>Scripts so I could get easy access to running it, in case it doesn't automatically run (which ideally I'd like it to).
What I don't know, is if I did this right-- like a blind man at an orgy, I'm having to feel my way around. (Thanks to Naked Gun for that.)
I mean, it seems to work, but I don't know if I opened up a world of potential pain by not including something, by making a potential loop, or by writing it the wrong way. I literally don't know my *ss from my elbow as far as programming anything goes. If someone could just give me a green light, or critique/lesson I'd really appreciate it.
Assuming i did this right, i guess this could be used to run any applicationB when applicationA was found to be running. At the very least, maybe someone else in my shoes will find this in a google search where I did not.
