Script to see if portal is really running

I'm looking for a (unix) script to see if the portal is really
running.. I can't use processes/etc.. because they can hang and still
show up in the process table..
I've tried to telnet to port 8080 and issue the GET command .. which
works 'manually' but I can't get it to work
in sh....... any ideas??

How can i see Log information of Report Run Time?, till now i am counted report run time manually. Is there any way i can see the workbook running time in log information?.

There could be a few things -
At one time, you needed to run a separate script to create the tables. I'm not sure that is still the case. If you check the Administrators guide, look into the chapter that deals with the EUL Status Workbooks.
If you are not logged on as the eul owner, you may not have select privileges, or you may need to qualify the table with the schema (if there is no synonym) - select * from <eul_owner>.EUL5_QPP_STATS;
If you are on 4i, the table is EUL4_QPP_STATS

A script in file EditingUtils.js has been running for a long time

Hello Everyone.   I just downloaded Dreamweaver CS 5.5 Trial version (Win 7), and I have been working on my home page. I've created a wonderful image map with spry widget tooltips (about 60 tooltips), and I'm really happy with the results....until this error started to pop-up. I have re-started the computer, deleted winfilecache****, and updated Dreamweaver through the help window.   I have googled this error, and found it existed in CS3 and CS4, and even in CS5, but no information as to why it's happening in CS 5.5.    I really want to buy this software, but am unsure as to why I would spend this amount of money on something that's going to give me a headache. I am a layman, and work on my site recreationally. I'm new to CSS and Spry so if i missed the obvious I apologize for that.   I inserted the spry widgets in the CODE screen by highlighting my hotspot CODE and clicking INSERT>SPRY>SPRYTOOLTIP. Each tooltip is checked to "follow on mouse" and "hide on mouse out" and horizontally moved -400.
So now every time I open this page in Dreamweaver this error "A script in file EditingUtils.js has been running for a long time. Do you wish to continue?" pops up, and whenever i try to edit the spry tooltip properties. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere. thanks for your help and time. I see that the Macbook cannot run OS9 programs like the PPC can. I work in education and all programs have not been undated to run in X.

Empty your Safari cache and try resetting Safari.
Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down including browsers.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

Quick and easy if then script to determine if an application is running?

I'm getting confused on syntax with an if else statement. I just want see if an app is running and exit 0 if so. If not, then exit 1. I tried a test using TextEdit and I always get a syntax error in the console when running my shell script. Here's what I've got:
ps -axo pid,ucomm | awk '{ if ( $2 == "TextEdit" ) exit 0 [ else exit 1 ] }'
I've been looking at this too long. What am I missing?

   You must have stared at it too long. The syntax error is just the square brackets; erase them. If there's only one command "else" works without any grouping symbol. If there is more than one command, the required grouping symbols are braces, "{}" and they would follow the "else" command. By the way Michael, "exit" is an awk command. I swear that I didn't know that either but it is. However oddly, it doesn't do what it says but more about that in a sec.
   The real problem with the awk script is the logic. It would only detect TextEdit if that's the first process listed. This awk script is only going to test the first line because the script is run once for each line and since there's an exit command in each branch of the if statement, it exits the first time it's run. You want something like the following:
ps -axo pid,ucomm | awk '/TextEdit/{ exit 0 } END { exit 1 }'
However, this doesn't work either because the END block is executed despite the "exit" command. Therefore you'd have to do something like:
ps -axo pid,ucomm | awk 'BEGIN{ STAT = 1 } /TextEdit/{ STAT = 0; exit } END { exit STAT }'
That kindof makes Michael's suggestion of "grep" seem more appealing, eh? The exit status of "grep" depends on whether there is a match so it's tailor made to do what you want.

Unable to see the portal content directory in content adminstration

Hi,
I am unable to see the portal content directory in the content administration. I am not the super administrator.I have been assigned content admin role. But, I am unable to see the PCD.I see from previous blogs that permission has to be set for my role.
Can any one help me in telling the procedure to set the permission.If permission is not the issue then do tell me the solution for it.

Hi Suganya,
The content admin role normally is sufficient to see / read the portal content catalogue (as far as the standard settings are concerned). But maybe they have been restricted on your implementation by some administrator.
Some with sufficient permissions on the portal content catalogue has to right-click on the root (portal_content) object, "open", "permissions", and has to provide at least administrative "read" permission to you, some role (content admin for example) which is assigned to you or some group you belong to.

Hi Sunita,
Contact your systen admin people , he/she will assign the Read/Write or Full controls to content_admin_role in the system administration -> Permissions -> select portal content folder and right click the select open Permissions , There he/she has to add content_admin_role in Assigned Permissions category and under Administrator category select Full Control and select End user check box and save the changes.
Then you can see the Portal Content and you can create /change the portal contents.

How to see if invisible program is running in background?

I'm trying to help my friend who has an iMac running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). Her email and Facebook keep getting "hacked", and even though she changes the passwords to long and complex things that nobody could ever guess, someone is still able to figure out her passwords. The only way we think this could be happening is if someone broke into her home and put some type of "keystroke capture" program so that they could look at it while she's at work and get her passwords that way. We simply can not come up with any other way that her passwors are being discovered, and unfortunately we think it's a jealous ex-wife that is doing this.
I seem to recall in Snow Leopard that there is a way to see what is running in order to see how much memory is being taken by each task or program on the computer, but I don't recall where to go on the computer to monitor that information. Can someone please point me to where that information is, and if you have any other advice on how to check to see if a program is running without her knowledge, I would sure appreciate any input.

I can see my portal from my computer, but not thru the internet by my IP. I tried to put different page into ORACLE_HOME\Apache\Apache\htdocs and i can see it thru the internet. How can I fixed that?

Can OATS scripts that are created on Windows version run on a LINUX version

Can ATS scripts that were recorded/ created on Windows version of ATS be ported to a LINUX version of ATS and run successfully. Do both versions of ATS need to be identical?
we are using version internal Windows build version 9.31.0029 and the LINUX version is the current downloadable version 9.31

As far I am aware the only Linux option in ATS (GA version) at the moment is the load agent. If you create a load test script in OpenScript on Windows it should run fine using the Linux load agent. The Linux load agent will need to be the same version as the version of OLT that you are running.

Script to Publish to Portal or Default Folder

I have a number of qrys (100 ish) that need to be published to the portal.
The procedure I am using is accessing Qry Designer, bringing up the query, and publishing it. It works fine, but there are many steps.
Here is the url that gets launched:

The steps that really piss me off is that when I get to the portal dialog then I have to navigate down into the PCD structure to find my directory structure. Its the same PCD directory structure every time!! Many clicks here!!! The web dialog does not let me paste the PCD directory in. I have to manually navigate every time.
I don't want to change my security access to the one folder, because then I'll have to change it back. That's not a good fix.
What I'd prefer is:
1) a setting where I can default the PCD structure for publishing, or
2) a script I can run from the portal that gets the query iview and creates it in directory I specify.
Any help is greatly appreciated!!
BTW, I see this html in the source of the web contained in an anchor tag with the "Execute" button:

Can't see some Business Rules after running the Import via LCM

I am trying to migrate our Business Rules down from Prod to Dev to get them back in sync. Here is the steps I have run:
Export ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Prod via LCM
I confirmed the export directory contains an .xml file for EACH Rule.
copied the export directory down to Dev Shared Services server
Turned on DEBUG for Shared Services
Deleted ALL Business Rules and Sequences from Dev EAS BR repository
I confirmed that ALL BUsiness Rules are listed and checked in LCM Import.
run the Import from Dev Shared Services via LCM
I get a Completed successfully message. No Errors.
I Refresh Rules in Dev EAS and I only see 25% of the Business Rules listed.
I have tried to Stop/Restart the EAS services and still nothing.
I confirmed that the ID I am using to Export / Import has access on each Business Rule either directly or via a Group that has access.
Any thoughts??

I was really trying to get it done via LCM since I have all other migrations being done there. but I ended up taking your advice and doing it the old fashion way via EAS export.
To answer your questions:
We are on 11.1.1.3
I did not see any problems in the Services logs for EAS. Nothing that stood out.
We are migratiing 66 Rules and 15 Sequences.
We are using Weblogic instead of Tomcat.
Even though I have a workaround for the issue I am still interested in understanding why some of them did not import via LCM. You mentioned that you might consider adjusting some config settings. What settings would you recommend looking at?
