Script Uninstall of Java
I am trying to uninstall Java via a Powershell script. It works great, but the script removes all java builds. This includes Symantec NetBackup, JReports, and anything that has an embedded version of Java. Is there any way I could change this script to
uninstall just Oracle Java installations?
$java = Get-WmiObject -Class win32_product | where { $_.Name -like "*Java*"}
$msiexec = "C:\Windows\system32\msiexec.exe";
$msiexecargs = '/x "$($app.IdentifyingNumber)" /qn /norestart'
if ($java -ne $null)
foreach ($app in $java)
write-host $app.LocalPackage
write-host $app.IdentifyingNumber
&C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe /c "C:\Windows\system32\msiexec.exe /x $($app.IdentifyingNumber) /qn"
Start-Process -FilePath $msiexec -Arg $msiexecargs -Wait -Passthru
[Diagnostics.Process]::Start($msiexec, $msiexecargs);
if ($java -ne $null)
foreach ($app in $java)
write-host $app.LocalPackage
write-host $app.IdentifyingNumber
&C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe /c "C:\Windows\system32\msiexec.exe /x $($app.IdentifyingNumber) /qn"
Start-Process -FilePath $msiexec -Arg $msiexecargs -Wait -Passthru
[Diagnostics.Process]::Start($msiexec, $msiexecargs);
else { exit }
I've actually written a Powershell module that has a number of exclusions already built in to the query and can easily be added to for other products like Netbackup. The module also includes a -Whatif switch that you can use to see the and record the results
without actually uninstalling anything.
I also added a switch to keep a particular version of Java installed if required. The Powershell module and a more detailed description can be found at my blog: http://24by7365.wordpress.com/2014/02/07/uninstall-java-the-easy-way-redux/
Thanks. Will take a look.

How to call a shell script from a java code
Hello can any one suggest me how to call a shell script from a java program that takes three parameters.
i have a shell script (msp_restore_gui) when i run this script in the command line in a RHEL5 ,SUSE10 and Debian machine it works fine .I even tested to call it from a java program and it also worked fine but when i used the same in a J2ee application where the user when clicks the restore button in a webserver this inturn sends the request to a java file named BackupManager.java where i call the shell script.But here it fails.Waiting for your suggestions.If you want i can put the code also hereyes the script is in /usr/local/mss/tools/backup and the script (msp_restore_gui) is as follows
#!/bin/sh

How to create a scripting language in java?
Hello,
All that I want to do is to create a scripting language in java. Im familiar with javacc, jsr223 and other things but dont know how to start. The language syntax is java 5 syntax with some change and I want to generate java source code from small scripts. In fact I dont know how other languages (like groovy) are created.
I hope you can show me the required steps.
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks.That's all, huh?
For a start, generally when I hear "scripting language" I'm thinking interpretter, not a system which creates compiled (or compilable) code.
I get the impression that what you're talking about is what I'd call a "preprocessor" language, some extra syntax added to java which the preprocessor renders into ordinary java.
As far as complexity is concerned, much depends on how deeply involved the extra syntax is with the embedded ordinary Java. Does you preprocessor need to understand the java, or is it just embedded as text? How easilly identified are your preprocesor statments? It's a lot easier to do this if preprocessor lines are instantly identifiable from Java code (e.g. start with a #).
Basically the stages are always the same;
1) Lexical analysis i.e. picking out words, operators, numbers, quoted strings.
2) Construct a syntax tree.
3) Generate code (in this case Java).
Now, in this case, some of the nodes in the syntax tree may simply be chunks of undigested Java. -

Executing mysql script file in java
Hello,
I am working on a research project that involves the creation of anywhere from 50 to 200 MySQL databases at a time. So far I am able to execute CREATE DATABASE commands successfully using the Statement.execute() command.
So onto my problem.....
I have the script files needed to create the tables for each database, but I cannot figure out how to run them through java. I am trying to execute a SOURCE /file_location/ statement, but I am getting "you have an error in your mysql syntax....".
Does anyone know if there is a way to execute a script file from java?You mean to say that you have websphear application server (WAS) installed on Windows NT machine. Can you please share how you have deployed your application on WAS. The problem might be just because of configuration. What error/exception you are getting when you run application in WAS.

i m using jython script enging in java 6. I have put in the appropriate
jars i.e jython.jar and jython-engine.jar i classpath
The programm-- >
import javax.script.*;
public class ScriptTest {
public static void main(String[] args) {
try
ScriptEngineManager factory=new ScriptEngineManager();
ScriptEngine engine=factory.getEngineByName("jython");
//ScriptEngine engine=factory.getEngineByName("JavaScript");
Bindings test=new SimpleBindings();
test.put("SERIESNAME","FMDM");
System.out.println(engine.eval("SERIESNAME in ['xyz', 'etc']" , test ));
//System.out.println(engine.eval(" x = 5 + 7 "));
//System.out.println(engine.eval(" return " ));
catch(Exception e)
e.printStackTrace();
}Each time i m executing this i m getting null .rather i should get the result returned by the script .
System.out.println(engine.eval("SERIESNAME == ['xyz', 'etc']" , test ));
when i m changing my script engine to java script i m getting true printed on my console....but with jython i m getting null
[factory.getEngineByName("jython");
This statement does not return null.If it was
returning null i wud have got null pointer exception
.That's what I thought when you said "Each time i m executing this i m getting null".
And also i m able to exceute script like print. The only point here is tat
it does not return the result after executing the script...
i m able to execute the following --
engine.eval("print hi");
that means jython script engine is working..but its
not retunring the result of the scriptWell, I am pretty sure Java 6 is only bundled with the Mozilla Rhino based JavaScript script engine, no other script engine. It was just a guess of my side that actory.getEngineByName("jython") could return null, but it is definatelly not returning a Jython engine. Look at the API to see what it does return (probably the default JS implementation). -
Uninstall only Java system?
Hi
I had already install ABAP+Java system but right now I want to uninstall only Java part of SAP system and still ABAP part of SAP system. Could you please advise me ,It's possible? How can I do or where can I get the information?
Thanks,
BeawHello,
There is no way to "uninstall" only one stack (J2EE or ABAP).
Also, you can not migrate only one stack (ABAP or J2EE) without system consistemcy issues.
If you are at an early stage of your project, you may re-install.
If you are at an later stage, keep the system "as-is" and minimize the usage of the Java stack to have a minimum consumption of memory and cpu.
Setting disp/j2ee_start to false will disable the J2EE engine on startup.
Hope it will help.
Best regards.
