Script will not accept target volume when setting Windows Backup policy

I have manually configured a Windows Backup on a VM using the GUI. I set the target volume for the backup and it works fine. However, I am trying to script out the configuration of the backup and when I run the script, I get the following output:

The E: volume is one of three drives for the VM.  I attach and detach the volume from the Hyper-V host weekly - creating a new VHD for each week of backups.  This all works fine with me doing it manually, but I want to automate the process and
the script below won't let me.  IDEAS???
# Open the existing policy in Edit mode
$BackupPolicy = Get-WBPolicy -Editable
# Now,define the parts of it.
# First, let's specify the files to backup
$FileSpec = New-WBFileSpec -Filespec C:\,D:\
# and then add that to the policy we're building
Add-WBFileSpec -policy $BackupPolicy -filespec $FileSpec
# Remove the existing target
$Target = Get-WBBackupTarget -Policy $BackupPolicy
Remove-WBBackupTarget -Policy $BackupPolicy -Target $Target
# Add the new target
$Target = New-WBBackupTarget -VolumePath E:
Add-WBBackupTarget -policy $BackupPolicy -target $Target
# Add System State and Bare Metal Recovery
Add-WBSystemState -policy $BackupPolicy
Add-WBBareMetalRecovery -policy $BackupPolicy
# Define the schedule
Set-WBSchedule -policy $BackupPolicy -schedule 00:30,06:30,12:30,18:30
# Finally, set for VSS Copy Backup
Set-WBVssBackupOptions -policy $BackupPolicy -VssCopyBackup
# Finally, we need to SET the policy before it actually takes control
Set-WBPolicy -force -policy $BackupPolicy

Hi Dan,
Since you want to replace the destination volume for the existing backups, I recommend you can delete the existing backup task and create a new backup task, or you can also try the steps below:
Reattach the original (old) volume and also attach the new volume to VM, then run the powershell script to
add the new target volume firstly, then remove the old volume, after you run the script you can detach the original volume from VM.
If there is anything else regarding this issue, please feel free to post back.
Best Regards,
Anna Wang

  • Safari will not open on Desktop when set to open at Log In

I have tried everything. Even called the Apple Tech guy and he said he had NEVER heard of this.
I go into System Pref. Go to Accounts - set Safari to open at Log in. Set Quicken to open at Log in. Set Stickies to open at Log in. (none are "checked" to hide)
I log out. . . . I log in. Stickies opens on the desktop - Quicken opens on the Desktop. Safari, IS open in the dock (little blue dot indicates the program is open) but my home page is NOT open on the desktop. I got it to work once. I recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. However, it does this on my computer at home AND at work so I'm thinking it's a glitch somewhere?

HI, (love your username)! and welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try deleting this file.
    com.apple.loginitems.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences.
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
If that doesn't help, go to System Preferences/Accounts - Login Items.
Remove Safari, then add it back in. Restart your Mac.
You can reset your Safari homepage by going to Safari/Preferences - General.
Where you see; Home page: type in the url you want or navigate to that web site and click:
    Set to Current Page.

  • When trying to set up my Apple TV it will not accept my apple Id

We are trying to set up our Apple TV and when we are setting it up it will not accept our Apple ID and Password.  Any ideas?

I don't understand what you are setting up using numbers - or letters.  If it's a passcode, then you can translate the letters into numbers as you would on a telephone keyboard - for example, an "S" would be a 7.
But that may not matter, as the process for setting up voicemail is strongly tied to your cellular carrier.  If the above doesn't answer your issue, contact your cellular carrier for setup assistance.

  • When starting up after a erase/reinstall of Mac OS X 10.6 it will not accept any of my passwords/names

when starting up after a erase/reinstall of Mac OS X 10.6 it will not accept any of my passwords/names, I had just entered my info and clicked on "continue", the cube began to turn and froze, a translucent screen came over the whole window and request that I restart the computer, after doing so, I got the start up sound and a message saying that OS X was starting up and then the sign in window, but when I entered my info it kept shaking/rejecting it, only thing I can think is that could I have possibly entered my password wrong twice, don't know, I'm still scratching my head.

Do it again, I'm afraid. Be sure you set up the initial admin account with a proper password you can remember - all lowercase letters and numbers. No special characters or spaces except for the "_" underline character.
    Clean Install of Snow Leopard
Be sure to make a backup first because the following procedure will erase
the drive and everything on it.
         1. Boot the computer using the Snow Leopard Installer Disc or the Disc 1 that came
with your computer.  Insert the disc into the optical drive and restart the computer.
After the chime press and hold down the  "C" key.  Release the key when you see
a small spinning gear appear below the dark gray Apple logo.
         2. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
After DU loads select the hard drive entry from the left side list (mfgr.'s ID and drive
size.)  Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.  Set the number of
partitions to one (1) from the Partitions drop down menu, click on Options button
and select GUID, click on OK, then set the format type to MacOS Extended
(Journaled, if supported), then click on the Apply button.
         3. When the formatting has completed quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed
with the OS X installation and follow the directions included with the installer.
         4. When the installation has completed your computer will Restart into the Setup
Assistant. Be sure you configure your initial admin account with the exact same
username and password that you used on your old drive. After you finish Setup
Assistant will complete the installation after which you will be running a fresh
install of OS X.  You can now begin the update process by opening Software
Update and installing all recommended updates to bring your installation current.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Trying to install PS4 on new MacBook Pro. I have already installed PS 3 extended.  When PS4 asked for my PS3  serial number will not accept # on back of my PS3 case?

I have PS3 and PS4 installed on Mac 27", but when I try to install PS4 on my new MacBook Pro will not accept Serial # on my PS3 Extended case.  Even though I have PS3 Extended installed!!  Tried Serial # with and without dash, but neither works.  Had both installed also on my MacBook Air OK but I wiped intend installed new OS.  Not clear why PS4 not accept PS3 Serial # despite the fact that PS3 Extended already installed with the correct Serial #.

Photoshop 3 and Photoshop 4 for the Mac were released in the 1990s before Mac OSX and will only run natively on the Classic Mac OS (OS 9.x or older). They may run under emulation in "Classic Mode" on a PPC Mac up until OSX 10.4. They will not run on any Mac with an Intel processor nor with OSX 10.5 or newer. Same with Photoshop 5 and Photoshop 6.
Photoshop 7 came with both Classic and OSX versions, but will only run on a PPC-based Mac, or an Intel Mac up to OSX 10.6.x with the Rosetta emulator
    Now, to clarify the naming of versions;
    Photoshop CS = "Photoshop 8.x"
    Photoshop CS2 = "Photoshop 9.x"
PS CS and CS2 came as OSX versions only and will only run on a PPC-based Mac, or an Intel Mac up to OSX 10.6.x with the Rosetta emulator
    Photoshop CS3 = "Photoshop 10.x"
    Photoshop CS4 = "Photoshop 11.x"
PS CS3 and CS3 came as OSX versions but run on either a PPC-based Mac up to OSX10.6.x with the Rosetta emulator or an Intel-based Mac, at least up to Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.x (the latest I have tried personally)
As for upgrades, you can go back about (3) revisions to use the old SN for an install; e.g. a PS 7 SN can be upgraded to PS CS3 (10.x) but not to PS CS4 (11.x). So, there is no way PS 3 could be upgraded directly to PS CS4 (11.x)

No help what-so-ever. All I want to do is download the $299.00 Acrobat XI

My email changed and I changed my Apple ID to the new one.  Apparently I still have the old one and cannot remember the password so I am locked out.  When I tried to reset my password it asks for my birthday, but will not accept what I put in.  It says Apple cannot verify the information.  Any ideas on how to go on to reset?

Did you try to get in contact with Apple ID Support directly?

  • When i try to open a document, adobe will not accept password

cannot open file because adobe will not accept password adobe x

Odd. I downloaded [DH]RQ-7_UAV_US_Army.pdf which indicates the password you posted, and it opened WITHOUT any prompt for password at all. (Adobe Reader XI Mac OS X 10.8.5)
I downloaded P51D_Mustang_Ferocious_Frankie.pdf and it opens in Preview, Acrobat X, but not Reader XI as you described.
Here's what I did to get it to open.
    Open the PDF in Acrobat.
    Click File>Properties.
Under the Security tab, click "Change Settings..."
Where it says "Compatibility:" change it from "Acrobat 5 and later" to "Acrobat X and later".
    Enter the password (paper-replika.com) below.
    Click OK.
    Save the PDF.
    Open it with Reader XI.
It will accept the password and open the PDF.
This ISN'T a Reader issue, but an issue with the save settings when the PDF was created.
Unfortunately, for those who DON'T have Acrobat to make the necessary changes, it will remain a problem.
Perhaps you could contct the website and inform them that they need to change their compatibiliy settings in their PDFs.
But... It's NOT a Reader issue.
