Scripted Import MRU list from Office 2010.

Hello all, i was wondering if anyone could help with this, we have a script that exports the MRUs as reg keys from office 2010, it exports the following as a .reg file on the source machine, and on the destination machine it imports the reg key so a user
moving machines has all of their recent documents:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\File MRU]
"Max Display"=dword:00000019
"Item 1"="[F00000000][T01CF9ABB0FC89840][O00000000]*C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Documents\\FILENAME.xlsx"
This works absolutely fine when coming from 2010 and going to 2010, however since we have put 2013 on the destination machines, the script doesn't work due to the user ID field being unique to each user:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Excel\User MRU\AD_CC97ADD968A5532BF33D5693E751F2355768058F0819CBCF30AD727C87634047\File MRU]
"Max Display"=dword:00000019
"Item 1"="[F00000000][T01CF9ABB0FC89840][O00000000]*C:\\Users\\USERNAME\\Documents\\FILENAME.xlsx"
would anyone know of a way to export from 2010, obtain the AD_CC9...... ID, and change the .reg file to this as part of a scripted import?
as it stands im having to open each application (word, excel, powerpoint) and click on file to generate the AD_CC..... reg key, then copy the key name from registry editor, and edit my 2010 exported .reg files to re-import manually on the destination machine.

  • Acrobat 9.5, file corruption when combining .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document

In Acrobat 9, when I combine .pdfs created from Word or Excel (from Office 2010) into a larger .pdf document, there is data corruption. Some of the text appears as blank boxes when the pages are inserted into the larger .pdf, the main document. I have so far solved this by "printing" the files to .pdf, and then inserting them into the larger .pdf main document, but this creates a fatter .pdf file that is much larger than would otherwise be the case. Are there any other solutions within Acrobat 9, please? If this bug has been solved in Acrobat X or XI, please advise. Thanks.

As far as the images are concerned, that may be a result of your choice of job settings. You may want to use the Press or Print option if the image quality is important. I assume you are talking about bit images in this case.
As to the hangup, have you checked to see if AcroTray is active on your system? It may not be running as needed. In the meantime, try checking print to file and then opening that file in Distiller to complete the conversion to PDF.
Before you ever try a reinstall, you need to do a repair first to see if that resolves the problem. There are a lot of unknowns about your exact process for the printing and your job settings that may be part of the problem. The rest of your system setup is useful in some cases, but did not help me see your problem.

  • Adobe 8 printing from office 2010

I am having trouble with Adobe 8. Recently the issues we are having have been increasing rapidly. We have had trouble with 1 machine and formatted it/replaced it 3 times.
We are using more and more 64 bit machines and we still run Adobe 8. We have issues were people cannot print to adobe from office 2010. We fix this with the first update for adobe 8, however after a few days we get the issue again but this time telling us we cannot print to adobe because the printer is not installed when it clearly is.
I believe adobe 8 has compatibilty issues with 64 bit machines and I would like confirmation on this. We are in need of a permanent fix, we cannot go around having to troubleshoot PCs every day because of Adobe. Every day employees need to stop working because of an Adobe issue.
Another issue we have on PCs is "A serious error has occured, reinstalling adobe may fix the problem" well guess what.. it doesn't.
We also have adobe 9 pro but we cannot use it because its only able to be installed onto a PC where another adobe product is installed. But most of the users only use adobe acrobat and whatever else comes with it and are unable to install adobe 9 because in order to do so we need to remove 8 and when you remove 8 you lose the ability to install 9 because you can only install it due to having another adobe product installed on the PC.
These issues are burning through time, time we need to fix actual issues not on adobe 8 constantly playing up.
    Thank you

It is Acrobat's PDFMaker that processes Office applications' files to PDF.
The only PDFMaker that supports Office 2010 is that associated with Acrobat X.

  • Osa.exe Missing From Office 2010

Has osa.exe been removed from Office 2010? I can't seem to locate it. My installation was done as a custom install and selecting all options except for Access and Visio Viewer. Office is installed on Win 7 Enterprise x64.
I tried to copy osa.exe from a machine with Office 2007 but when I run it with -n I get an error that says, "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application"
    John Marcum | http://myitforum.com/cs2/blogs/jmarcum |

Nevermind, I found my own answer. I really like having "create new office document" pinned to my start menu. I guess that just no longer an option.
    Office Startup Assistant
Although turned off by default in 2007 Microsoft Office system, the ability to create a new Office document from the
Start menu, or Office Startup Assistant (OSA), is completely removed in Microsoft Office 2010. Users can no longer manually turn on the feature in the
Start menu through Office 2010 setup or open a dialog box to create a new document in an Office 2010 application.
This feature is replaced by the ability to create a new Office document for each Office 2010 application from the Microsoft Office Backstage by clicking
New and then creating the document. In addition, the improved functionality is compatible with the 64-bit version of Office 2010.

  • Upgrading from Office 2010 to 365

Upgrading from Office 2010 Pro to 365 Pro Plus - I know you must uninstall 2010 and install 365 or can run them concurrently. Question is - if you uninstall 2010 and install 365, what settings are lost and what settings are retained? Outlook signatures?  Word
    and Excel settings and preferences?
Also must the OST files be re-downloaded again?  I hear there's a 40% compression improvement so this might be ideal, just want to know if the GPO to not re-download the OSTs actually works in this scenario?

    Hi,
Uninstall Office 2010 will not remove any user settings, the user settings will migrate upon the first use of each Office 2013 application.
By default, when Outlook 2013 is installed, a new compressed version of the Outlook data file (.ost) is created. This new compressed version of the .ost is up to 40% smaller than the size of the .ost files that were created in earlier versions of Outlook.
So it is recommended to use the new .ost file.
The "Do not create new OST file on upgrade" policy also works for Outlook 2013, however you might need to download the new Outlook Group Policy template (Outlk15.admx). Outlook 2010 template should not work in this scenario.

  • Office 2013 Upgrade - Retain Recently Opened Documents/WorkBooks from Office 2010

    Hello,
In our Windows 7 environment, we are planning to upgrade our users from Office Professional Plus 2010 to Office Professional Plus 2013 via SCCM 2012 R2. One of the user requirements is that we are to retain their recently opened files/documents
so that the history will still be shown even after they have upgraded over to Office 2013.
From what I have researched, it may be possible to do this if we copy some of the user's registry keys from Office 2010 and export them to the Office 2013. However, I have not tried it and wanted to see what thoughts you guys may have on this.
Has anyone run into this situation? Any advice on this? Thanks.

    Hi Jimmy,
Did you get any error message when you try to open an Excel file/Word document?
If so, you can post the error message and  event log here. Also ,if you had antivirus software installed, try to disable them to test this issue.
In addition, what happens if you add the network server location as a trusted location?

  • Going from Office 2010 to 2013 and Back to 2010 I lost My Outlook Search

    Hello--
We are doing some beta testing and I had to install Office 2013 from 2010. I finished the testing and went back to 2010.
Now, when I do a Windows search, my Outlook email is not included in the search results. This is a major loss to my productivity. I believe I read that Outlook email is not included in the Windows search with 2013, so that's probably why I lost it.
Can you tell me how I can include Outlook email in my Windows searches again? I searched for solutions online and all I got were questions.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Sorry for not having resolved this issue so far. We can try to uninstall Office 2010 first, then delete the following registry keys from the location:
Win + R, type "regedit"(without quotes) then press Enter.
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps
carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry,

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook

Once the keys are deleted restart the computer, then re-install Office 2010 to check the result.

  • Can't create a PDF using "print" from Office 2010 w/ Acrobat 9.5.1 installed

I've been working on a lengthy Word document for the past three days, upgrading most of the inserted images and straightening out the formatting. Converting the entire 180-odd page document every time I made a few updates is a bit time-consuming. I also noticed that when I converted the entire document as a whole, the quality of some (not all) of the images in the document was significantly degraded. So I'd been using the Adobe Acrobat printer selection in Word to create single page pdf files, and then used the documents tab in Acrobat to insert the new page and delete the undesirable page.
This was working fine for two days. Then I was attempting to print a page, and didn't notice the "Creating a PDF Document" window, nor did I see the requested filename in the target folder. I attempted to print the page a second time, but nothing happened. After closing several open pages, I found the "Creating a PDF Document" pop-up. But the progress bar was stuck at about 20% and never moved. Eventually I closed the pop-up and attempted to print again. The pop-up reappeared but stuck at 20%. Rebooted and got the same. I rebooted again and went into Program and Features and ran repair on both Office 2010 and Acrobat. No change.
I'm operating Win 7 (64 bit) w/ SP1 on an AMD E-350 1.60Ghz processor w/ 8GB of ram. I'm using Office Professional Plus 2010 build 14.0.6112.5000 (32 bit). I've included the System Report below. The only trick I have left is to uninstall and reinstall, but hoping for a more specific solution. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Can I sync my iCloud calendar with Outlook 365?  I upgraded from Office 2010 and now it doesn't sync.

I upgraded from Outlook 2010, and now it doesn't update in Outlook 365.  Thinking I can't do it, and it's a pity, cause I want it all to integrate on phone and on desktop.  I'm running Windows 7 and Office 365.  The iCloud app works fine with Internet Explorer, but I can't get the calendar to update.  Any suggestions?

Can't I just set up Exchange as one of my calendars in ical?
Only if you're running Snow Leopard and your employer will allow access (different than iPhone/mobile device access, so most likely not), but not needed - keep reading.
Is it really true that I have to choose between syncing Exchange with work server OR syncing iCal with personal Macbook?
No. It was true, but with the v3.0 software that changed - you can now sync your Exchange contacts and calendar over the air, and your Address Book and iCal via iTunes over the docking cable.
What is the best work around for this?
None needed. When you set up the exchange account, and choose to turn on syncing of contacts and calendars, you will be prompted to remove all other data, or keep it on the iPhone. Choose the keep option. Note that in that case, your personal data will not be uploaded to the Exchange server - the iPhone keeps them separate (although you can choose to view them in a merged fashion).
I have this set up on my phone (Exchange calendar along side personal and other calendars from iCal). Same for contacts. Works great.

  • Migrating to office 365/Win 8.1 from Office 2010/Win 7.0 the Outlook Personal folders are missing.

In Office 2010 I had emails archived into private data file personal folders/subfolders under Outlook 2010. My Office 2010 installation was wiped out when I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. The outlook.pst files are still available. When I installed
Office 365 on my Windows 8.1 system, Outlook 365 picked up the .pst and populated the Inbox and Sent folders, but the archived email personal folders are not present, and also the contacts folder is empty. I haven't been able to figure out where on the hard
drive the personal folders were actually archived (in Office 2010 ) or if Office 365 will even support showing these personal folders.

Problem solved. I found a separate .pst file in my backups that contained the personal folders and the contacts. This file wasn't in the Win 8.1 documents\outlook files folder. So two .pst files are needed; one for the emails and the other for the personal
    folders.

With AA 9, you can only print.
Printing to the Adobe PDF printer works fine from the 64-bit office  as documented here: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/882/cpsid_88296.html

    Hi,
Have you tried the hyperlinks in other Office programs like Outlook and PowerPoint? Do they work well?
You may need to run the Fix it in this kb below:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049/en-us
You can also try the steps in the section "Let me fix it myself". Although this kb is written for Outlook, it may help in your scenario as well.
    I hope this is useful.

  • Synch problems after upgrade from Office 2010 Beta

I updated from the beta version of Office 2010 to the pro version. Now I can not synch my calendar. I get the message "no supported calendar application can be found" on the info page of my device in Itunes (seems it can not find Outlook 2010), even though it did find my contacts in Outlook and continues to synch those without a problem. it appears others have had some version of this problem. I followed the steps outlined to delete all the itunes and related programs in a specific order and then reinstall, no joy. any body have a clue what I should chase next?

    Hi Daniel,
What OAT tool are you using? Is it the Office Customization Tool?
Where did you get the "Do not create new ost file during Migration" option in the tool? As far as I know, OST file cannot be migrated. If you were able to use the old OST file, Outlook will prompt that it
    doesn't match the server mailbox.
The ForceOSTPath applies only to new profile, it can't be used to force Outlook to use the old OST file.

It's recommended to download and install
Configuration Analyzer Tool (OffCAT), which is developed by Microsoft Support teams. Once the tool is installed, you can run it at any time to scan for hundreds of known issues in Office
    programs.

  • 2010 Publishing Approval Workflow not triggered from Office 2010 application

I have a peculiar situation to which I have been Googling for weeks now but to no avail.
Basically, I have configured a publishing approval workflow to fire when the user checks in a word document as a Major version. I tested it and all was fine. I later found that on a select few PC's on the office network the prompt (workflow initiation
form) was not popping up when checking the document in via the office 2010 word client and therefore the workflow wasn't being initiated.
I have gone down many avenues of group policy, SP permissions, AD settings, even reinstalling office but nowhere nearer to solving the issue.
Please bear in mind I have it configured correctly from a SharePoint point of view i.e. checked the box to allow workflow to be manually started & start to approve publishing on major version.
This might be a clue: it works when checking in via SharePoint but not when checking it in via word, therefore indicating a desktop client or office issue.
Does anybody have any knowledge of what triggers the initiation form to fire and what might block it or not register its existence from an office app point of view? Any general comments would be welcome.
Spec of problem machines: - Windows 7 (x32/64), Office 2010 Std, SharePoint 2013 server (but using 2010 workflow in this case).

    Hi Marc,
Based on your description, my understanding is that when you check in a major version from word, the workflow initiation form not appear.
In order for Document Approval workflows to work seamlessly with word, you can tick the option: "Allow this workflow to be manually started by an authenticated user with Edit Item Permissions".
Here is a detailed article for your reference:
Approval workflow does not start from Microsoft Word
