Scripting to load all pdfs in a month into the place command?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows of a script that allows for you to place all pdfs within a set date range from a folder into an InDesign document? I am looking to do my monthly report and each month I have to go out and get each one, would be nice to load the place tool with all the pdfs I have done with a set date range and then just place them accordingly. Is there something out there like this and/or am I missing something obvious?
Thanks!
B

IM Sorry tomaxxi, am I suppose to be inputting something somewhere here in
regard to the dates? I would need an example like for lets say the month of
Nov. I try to paste this and save it in the script editor but it keep
saying that the file cannot be saved. Any ideas? Please bear in mind your
speaking to a guy who has like zero knowledge when it comes to scripts.
Best regards,
Robert

Subject:    Scripting to load all pdfs in a month into the place command?
Sorry for delay...
I just tested script and it's working fine for me here.
I created 4 sample PDF-s with just one page, then started script,
selected exported PDF-s, script sorts them by creation date and loads
placegun.
So, all you need to do, is to start script and select documents you want to
place.
I changed script little, so make sure you use this one:
if(app.documents.length != 0){
    var myFiles = File.openDialog("Select Files:", "*.pdf", true);
    if(myFiles != null){
        myFiles.sort(function ( a, b )
                if ( a.created < b.created )
                    return -1;
                if ( a.created > b.created )
                    return 1;
                return 0;
        app.activeDocument.place(myFiles);
    }else{
        alert("No files selected!");
}else{
    alert("No documents opened!");

    I've stopped and started the service, and also have performed cold reboots.
    Nothing seems to have helped the situation.

    I got a new Macbook pro in March and transferred all of my old files into the new macbook from my old one. But ever since then, my iPhoto just does not open up. It says 'error' every time I try to open it, but I am still able to attach the iPhotos saved to emails. Help! How do I get my iPhoto back?

    Thanks, Sig.
    The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
    The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
    In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem.  Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page.  Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
    If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
    (I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)

    Do you keep your data backed up?
    If not, you should always do so*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    You never know when a hard drive or a directory might go bad.  Having a bootable clone is a must.
    That link also shows you some tools you can use to recover data.
    If you aren't backed up, try buying those tools first, before attempting to repair the directory.
    Directory issues can be fixed with these tools*:

  • I have a new desktop. I've loaded all my CDs onto it but the music won't sync with my phone. Why not

    I recently needed to replace my desktop, Whern it was all set up I connected my iPhone and synced it to the new desktop. Everything syncs but my music. All my purchased mucic syncs but not my own CDs. I've now loaded all my CDs onto the new desktop, created  the playlists, etc. I connected my iPhone again and made sure the computer is authorized and clicked on the image of my iPhone on the left side of the screen. I then clicked on Sync entire music library and clicked on Apply. But my music still will not sync. What do I need to do?

    Try clicking on your iPhone under devices- go to the Music tab - uncheck sync music- Remove Music - Click apply - Wait for sync to finish then try rechecking sync music - Apply.
    Did it work?

  • Acrobat 8.0.0 for Mac loads all PDFs with no menu bar visible

    Hello,
    First time poster. I've searched for a similar post on these forums but did not find anything. Hopefully this is not a repost.
    I have a user on a MacBook Pro running Acrobat 8.0.0 with an odd issue. Anytime she double-clicks on a PDF file she has not previously opened, Acrobat launches with no menu bar present. Going to View and then Menu Bar or hitting ⇧⌘M brings it back. I then quit Acrobat and double-click on another PDF the user has never opened. The menu bar is gone again.
    Opening previously opened PDFs works fine, the menu bar is present. This is what I've tried so far:
    1. Went to View > Toolbars > More Tools... and customized the toolbar. Once done, I quit Acrobat and then launched again with another previously unopened PDF.
    2. Went to View > Toolbars > Reset Toolbars. Then closed Acrobat and opened again with a previously unopened PDF.
    3. Went to View > Toolbars > Lock Toolbars. Then closed Acrobat and opened again with a previously unopened PDF.
    None of these steps fixed the issue. Is there a coniguration file somewhere in the Library that controls this that I may delete? I'm wondering if I'll just have to uninstall and reinstall Acrobat.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Checked those options, and the user had already unchecked it in the hopes of resolving the problem...
    I misspoke, it's not the menu bar, it's the toolbar. I'll update the post.
    I haven't done an update on it, that was going to be my next step. If that doesn't work, I may just completely uninstall and re-install it.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Loading datafrom a PL/SQL table into the Database table

    I have created two procedures to try and achieve the problem at hand.
    It retrieves and displays the record from a DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE prospective as indicated in (1&2), but I am having difficulty loading these values into a PL/SQL table from the package labeled as (3). I read your book and all but I do not see a solution to my problem
    All code compiles. (1&2) work together, (3) works by itself but will not populate the table, and I get no errors.

  • How can i get my music to sync to my iPhone?  all my music is saving into the cloud

    i upgraded to iOS 8 on an Iphone 5s (from a 4s) and an iPad air and almost all of my music is now stored in the cloud, not on the device.   All iCloud settings are turned off.  I have one more 5s to upgrade (again, from a 4s).  How can i upgrade and keep all my music on the phone, not in the cloud.     I lost over 500 songs when I upgraded the iPad air.

    I have a similar problem with my iPhone 5. I sync my music but I cannot find them in the Music app, although I can see for storage usage that they have been loaded to the iPhone. I have tryed different sync options, but nothing works. Cannot hear my musics on my iPhone anymore :-(

  • How do I generate PDF and CHM files from the a command line in windows?

    I am trying to set up a PC to build some documents during the night. I was looking for a way to get framemaker to generate PDF and CHM files via a command line in windows? How is this done with FrameMaker 12
    Thanks for the help
    Alex

    Hi,
    The part with generate a PDF via a jsx seems to work OK, except when FrameMaker decides that it will not work anymore. I must say I am not impressed with the stabillity of FrameMaker 12, there is room for a lot of improvement!.
    I have given up on how to figure out how to get FrameMaker 12 to generate chm files via jsx scripts, any pointes are still very welcome.
    The route I have taken is I make a RoboHelp project for each chm files I need to generate. The only thing this RoboHelp project contains is a link to the actual FrameMaker project I want to generate a chm file.
    To make the chm I start RoboHelp with a script that
    1) Opens the desired project
    2) Sets the desired output chm files name
    3) Generates the chm file
    4) And finally quits RoboHelp
    Below is a copy of the jsx in case anyone can reuse anything.  And yes parameters are transfered via enviroments variable. I have later learned there is some way to read the parameters given at a command line but this seems to work so I stick to this for now.
    // Get parameters
    var RhProjName = $.getenv("RH_PROJ_NAME");
    var RhChmName = $.getenv("RH_CHM_NAME");
    var RhLogFileName = $.getenv("RH_LOGFILE_NAME");
    var RhLogFile = new File(RhLogFileName);
    RhLogFile.open("w", "TEXT");
    RhLogFile.writeln("RH_PROJ_NAME : ", RhProjName);
    RhLogFile.writeln("RH_CHM_NAME : ", RhChmName);
    doc = RoboHelp.openProject (RhProjName, 1);
    var sslmngr = RoboHelp.project.SSLManager;
    for(var i = 1; i<=sslmngr.count; i++){
      var ssl = sslmngr.item(i);
      if(ssl.name == 'Microsoft HTML Help') {
        // Set the output location and file name
        ssl.setSpecificProperty("DestinationProjectName", RhChmName);
        if (doc.saveAll(true) ) {
          RhLogFile.writeln("saveAll returned TRUE");
        } else {
          RhLogFile.writeln("saveAll returned FALSE");
        if ( ssl.generate() ) {
          RhLogFile.writeln("ssl.generate returned TRUE");
        } else {
          RhLogFile.writeln("ssl.generate returned FALSE");
      } else {
        // alert ("Found " + ssl.name + " dont do anything");
    doc.saveAll(true);
    RhLogFile.close();
    RoboHelp.closeProject();
    RoboHelp.quit();

  • How do I move all clips from an event into the edit line...

    If I have an event of tons of clips that comprise an hour of footage, how can I select all of those clips at once from the event library and transfer them to the edit line above?
    There is no Select All feature, that I can see, and it takes forever to highlight each chunk of clips, one at a time, and drag them up.
    I'd like to drag the whole 1 hour's worth of clips in one event in my library up to the edit line at once.
    Thanks!

    Hi Rich,
    I am trying to somehow "select all" clips, (not just all shots within a clip), but all 100 or so slips from an entire tape, from the first clip, to the last clip, and everything in between, and move them all up to the edit pane at once.
    As it is now, I have to click on a thumbnail, select the entire clip, and move one clip at a time up to the edit pane.
    I want to move all the clips up at once.

  • How can I get all tracks from an album into the album in my library?

    When importing the albums from a folder, the tracks for some of the albums were split up.  How can I get them in one?

    Hello JudyD276
    The article below will give the steps to get the songs grouped together for you.
    Why aren't songs with the same album art grouped together?

    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
