Scrollbar widget

All,
I am struggling with the scrollbar widget but I don't mange to find a way
to use it property ... because perhaps I misunderstood something.
Below my use of scrollbar widget.
I would like to link a scrollbar widget and a DataField widget to manage an
integer value. Each time, one of them changes, the other one needs to be
updated to reflect the new value. It is possible to change the value from
both.
Question 1 : With my small example (attached to the email), when I enter a
value out of bound for the scrollbar and I set the value to it, the
scrollbar widget does not complain.
Question 2 : When I modify the value from the DataField and click on an
arrow of the scrollbar widget, my code set the scrollbar value after the
AfterChangeValue event but Forte resets the value with the previous value.
(e.g current value 5, set to 10, select the scrollbar, Forte displays
suddenly 6 (or 4) depending on the arrow you select)
May anyone help me to understand this behaviour ?
Thanks.

That way u wont even be needin the Spry Widget.
Just create i main div (wrpper) with the panel size. and add
a css overflow on to it.
Than create in that div a new div that groups around the
panels and give it a width of 1000+ and add your panels with in
that group.
it would look like this:
<div id='wrapper'> <-- width of 100px + overflow
-----<div id='group'> <-- width of 1000px (1000/100
= 10 would fit in it)
---------<div id='panel'></div> <-- these
panels need to have a float left. and with 100
---------<div id='panel'></div>
---------<div id='panel'></div>
---------<div id='panel'></div>
---------<div id='panel'></div>
-----</div>
</div>
Hopes this helps.

  • The Scrollbar Widget on Portrait View

Has anyone seen or read a book with the scrollbar widget on portrait view? After we save all that screen space on landscape view thanks to this great widget, what do we do on portrait view? You can’t put images across page (portrait), you can’t put graphics... and all or most your text is miniaturized within the widget, what happens then?
I am curious because I don’t see how you can use this widget successfully and give your viewers both portrait and landscape views. The miniature scroll bar curiosity on the left side (portrait) has swallowed up all or most your text, it looks out of place, you can't remove it without messing with your landscape view, and you still have a blank page to fill below the blue line.
But I might be proven wrong with examples...

  • CS4:MultilineTextEditBoxWidget &Scrollbar

    Hi Folks,
I want to access to a scrollbar control of "MultilineTextEditBoxWidget" to update/invalidate its value. I can't see anything property related to scrollbar control of this Widget in .fr file. I have this widget in a palette which is used to represent some operation results in runtime. Currently by inserting text to the MultilineTextEditBoxWidget, in a place that I need to scroll down to show the latest text in this widget, it doesn't scroll down automatically, and I want to do it manully by increasing the scrollbar value.
I tried the ForceRedraw()/Invalidate(), and also played with GetSysControl() but didn't have any success.
Can someone help me in this issue?
    Regards,
    Mor

From CS3 and on the scrollbar of the multiline edit text field is an internal InDesign widget, that you can't get hold off  (I could not way). The CEditBoxAttributes does has a widget id field, but if you supply your own scrollbar widget id the debug version of InDesign gives you an error. So you can't disable it, replace it or control it. Rather annoying.
If you are only displaying information to your user, you might want to consider the multiline version of the static text. Here you can control the scrollbar. If you are in CS4 you can use a Flex component on your panel, that does what you want.

  • Tab pages do not seem to have "scroll" feature in 9i

I have a couple of forms with a lot of Tab pages, and in the Forms9iDS it appears to have that small, horizontal "scrollbar" (widget with [start][scroll on tab page back][scroll one tab page forward][end] at the upper right corner).
However, the tab pages (when run in 9i) all show up on the same canvas, but they seem to have been shortened instead, substituting "..." where the tab page label is too long to display.
Can this be set - I mean can you choose whether it display the little scroll-thingy, or whether it tries to fit everything inside the Tab Canvas at once?

    Jesper,
there exist a HTM parameter "dontTruncateTabs" that needs to be set to true. To use this HTML parameter do as follows
    1. open basejini.htm in the forms90/server directory with a text editor
    2. Add the following line to the IE section
    <PARAM NAME="dontTruncateTabs" VALUE="true">
    3. Add the following line to teh Netscape section of the same file
    dontTruncateTabs=true
Note that if you use other base HTML files then basejini.htm you will have to edit these too.

  • Captivate 8 Demo. Few questions i couldn't answer by myself.

    Hello,
I'm new with captivate and also english is not my native language so please excuse me incase you'll have hard time understanding me.
Firstly i must say that my work is kinda strict, not much space for trying out something new, most of elements and design are documented and could not be changed. So switching to another application to make courses can be tricky.
I see now that Captivate is a powerful tool, but lots of things are harder to do in it or i wasnt searching good enough.
Perhaps someone could give me few tips on this problems?
    1. Its really hard to make some widgets do what you want. Many seemmingly easy things look so undecidable... One of them is Glossary widget. Is there any way to add cyrilic words in it? When i add them - nothing appears because there are only latin letters at bar text line. Maybe there is cyrrilic version for that widget?
    2. Wanted to ask about pausing project from auto advancing, but suddenly auto advancing work properly when i add invisible disabled buttons on slide and stops when i want to. Still would be so cool if devs could add Stop Auto Advance option.
    3. Scrollbar widget. Cant i somehow format text in more than one format?
    I need something like this:
    4. Is there any possible way to add HTML tags in text captions? Also, is there a way to implement your styles (.css-file) and use it in captions? For example, i can't paint circles in marked list with needed color, that is other than text, wanted to do it with special style i used before.
    5. TOC. Is there any way to move TOC on other than left or right locations?
How can i make slide names move to a next line instead of getting cut?
How can i remove "Slide Title" phrase and bookmark symbol? (using white font now to make it invisible).
    6. Table widget. Is there a way to delete borders between rows or columns?
Want to achieve something like this:
    7. How can i get the variable defining number of attempts for a question? Want to place the number on slide so viewer could see how many attempts he is still having.
    8. I turned off numbering in a question but now there is a huge space between circle and an answer. Is there a way to decrease this space?
Thats it for now. Would really appreciate if someone could help me with this.

    D) !reload
    E) type zl if you have your password and username in the formfile.

  • Accordian widget scrollbar to publish in Captivate 7

Does anyone know how to get the Accordian widget scrollbar to publish? I'm using Captivate 7 and the interactive widget called Accordian. If your text in the box is too long, a small scroll bar should show up on the right. Only when I publish, it doesn't show up. I'm publishing as a SWF with Flash 11. I've tested it and a few computers can see it and some can't. Any help out there would be much appreciated.

Preview from this slide does nothing, and does not show an error message.
When I try to publish to SWF I get this message:

  • Scrollbar in accordion widget?

Is this possible? I have a large body of text inside one of my accordion panels and I 's like to insert a scrollbar to preserve screen real estate. Any help much appreciated!

There is currently no support for scrolling text. A lot of people have been asking for it though so if you go to the 'ideas section' look for a similar feature request OR ad this to the list and make sure to vote for it as well.

  • PyGTK image widget with panning and optional scrollbars

I couldn't find a widget that does this so I made an attemp to make one myself.
Here's the code (click browse in the sidebar and view scrolledimage.py): http://hg.61924.nl/pygtk-extras/. There is an example in the file itself. After you changed the 2 paths to the images in the file, you can execute it with Python.
It isn't perfect and it has some bugs, but I don't have any use for it at the moment. You can do anything you want with it.

  • Spry Auto Suggest Widget Sample: Change scrollbar?

Is it possible to change the scrollbars to scomething a bit more asthetically pleasing?
I know this can be done with the Prototype framework:
    http://livepipe.net/control/scrollbar
If not, can the scrollbar be removed completely?  I never show more than 10 results anyway.

Yes it is possible to change the scrollbars; but you do not need Spry to do this. You can use the Prototype framework if you wish.
You can also remove the scrollbar completely, although this is only needed for IE as other browsers do not place a scrollbar if this is not needed.
My advice, leave the browser scrollbar as it is. Users are used to it and my experience is that a site has to be functional before asthetical.
    I hope this helps.

  • Create a fullPage.js Widget - Can it be done?

    Hey fellow Musers,
I have been attempting to figure out if this is possible.
fullPage.js is awesome. I would love to use it in Muse - but how?

Unfortunately I ended up throwing the site away, and rebuilt it from scratch. Which is okay because it allowed me to better understand how to use the widget better - Spacing my anchors apart properly (by about 1380pix per section/page) and evenly (on the bugged site they weren't spaced apart evenly) I think was crucial for setting this up properly to work smoothly. Having the layout done in advance (rather than throwing it together as you add each section) seems to be working just fine, for now.
I have noticed a handful of times using Muse in the past year or so that some widgets like to muck things up sometimes, and it is all about understanding how to use them properly without hiccups. Also this happens sometimes when you try to use widgets within a widget(s) too.

  • SPRY accordion widget IE8 ONLY issue

    hello everybody,
i noticed a strange "jumpy" behavior while using the spry accordion widget -- this affects IE8 only (currently using 8.0.6001.18882 on vista), other browsers (including IE7 and IE8 forced into IE7 mode) work as expected. this issue seems to be related to the margin property of the accordion container...
not shure whether this behavior is related to IE rendering or the spry javascript code itself... anyway i made NO changes to the spry script (my version is 0.15, 1.6.1, which i believe to be most recent one).
the xhtml (strict) and css are perfectly valid (there might be some MINOR css hacks which are not related to the accordion itself). i do NOT use ANY padding on the inner container of the accordion (which would definetely make the spry js count the tween in odd way). the accordions (especially the main menu on the left) are little more complex, but they were built according to the spry widget document, found on the adobe spry website.
so, here it is -- check the accordion on the left side (the bug seems to happen almost always while opening/closing the last BLUE "section" of the accordion, please play with the accordion for a while to reproduce it -- while the accordion closes, it "loses" it's bottom margin (i guess), what's even more wierd, everything gets back to place after you move a mouse):
    http://www.prazskematky.cz/home.php
PLEASE NOTICE: since the website is still under development and i'm using a IE meta tag to force it into IE7 rendering, to reproduce this behavior please be shure to switch IE engine to IE8 standards mode
well, we all now how IE handles css... so it's propably an IE bug -- anyway if you have encountered a similar issue of even better found a fix, please let know. (i don't consider a fix switching to another js library, i would like to use the spry, because of it's DW integration)
    many thanks,
    p.s.

Are you referring to what it looks like in Design view? If
    so, that's
correct. Accordion panels have a fixed height. From memory, I
    think it's
200px. However, if you test the page in a browser, you should
    see a
scrollbar automatically generated on panels that have content
    that
exceeds the height of the panel.
If you want flexible-height panels in the accordion, you need
    to adjust
both the CSS and the script that initializes the accordion. I
    have
covered all the details in my "Essential Guide to Dreamweaver
    CS3" (and
the forthcoming CS4 edition). You can probably find online
    tutorials as
well. Try a Google search for Spry flexible height accordion.
The accordion widget has been around since CS3, and it hasn't
    changed in
CS4, so a Google search should bring up a lot of information.

This list normally gets populated with a lot of items and goes way below the bottom of the screen so i need to get a scrollbar in it.
    Cheers
    joe.

To my knowledge the RI data table doesn't provide a scroll bar per se . . . it will paginate the results to where you can click on the page number or arrow to move back and forth between pages. To my knowledge you need <div> and <layer> and a bunch of DHTML tricks to actually make a table scroll (while keeping the header in place). It's not easy and must be customized for each page.
The JCreator Studio people demonstrated some fancier dataTable widgets at JavaOne . . . that might be worth a look. MyFaces may also have a more feature-rich dataTable implementation, and I'm sure there are others as well.
