SD ABAP Questions for functional

Hi People,
Can some body please help out about how much of the ABAP is expected to be known by a SAP SD functional consultant?Please list some usual questions asked to SD functional regarding ABAP?

I'm a little unclear about your question, Yunfa.
Do you want to single-test a SE37 function-module? This can be easily done, just hit the F8 button, and it takes you to a single-test environment.
Do you want to test an FM using an ABAP-program? This too is easy to do. To code the FM-call, there's a button called Pattern, in the standard SE38 screen, where you can put in your FM name, and it inserts the relevant code in your program.
Note that if you're testing BAPIs using the single-test environment, the actual document posting will not happen, because that requires a BAPI_COMMIT_WORK call. So, the way to test BAPIs which post documents would be to write an SE38 program, which also calls the commit-bapi.

Well there is no separate section for technofunctional people like ABAP SD. I think it wil not be an easy proposition also to have a separate section. Regarding the documents, I have posted lot of queries on technofunctional aspect of SD and I have got good responses from the SD forum. So you can try it here.
A small search on SDN SD forum most of the times will help you to answer your query.
I will suggest you to visit http://sap-img.com/sap-sd.htm. It will give you the overview of SAP SD module.

ABAP class or function for retrieving BEx query properties at runtime

Hello Experts,
I'm working on BADI RSR_OLAP_BADI and for a special calculation I need to know which characteristics are in the drill-down of the BEX query, sol later on I can aggregate some key figures using only these characteristics.
Problem is that structure C_s_DATA in method COMPUTE contains all fields of the query (filters, free chars, chars in the rows, etc) and I need to now which characteristics are currently being showing in the Bex analyzer.
So is there an ABAP class or function module I can use to find out this kind of information at run time?

The ALV is a set of function modules and classes and their methods which are added to program code. Developers can use the functionality of the ALV in creating new reports, saving time which might otherwise have been spent on report enhancement
The common features of report are column alignment, sorting, filtering, subtotals, totals etc. To implement these, a lot of coding and logic is to be put. To avoid that we can use a concept called ABAP List Viewer (ALV).
Using ALV, we can have three types of reports:
 1. Simple Report
 2. Block Report
 3. Hierarchical Sequential Report

A simple ABAP question

Friends,
I am intrigued with the following date comparison logic. This is a small snippet that I cut&paste from SAP code and modified to check whether the logic is correct.
the logic below writes STATUS 68. From SAP point of view and I agree, that it should not write 68.

Please note i_aedat is the change date in the decentral and l_aedat is the changed date in the central
The function module determine whether the existing central date is before the Decentrla date.
If so it would update the central data with decentral data.
Code below produce 68 at our installation and it does not with Vijaj and Patrick. I concur with their reply.
The code that I have provided is how the function module behaves.
So is it a kernel issue?
Any help is much appreciated.

Abap questions

Hi !
I wanted to ask few Abap questions :
1. How do i show a calendar on select options date field ?
2. what is the name of the function for changes currencies of field ? for example i need to change from type Usd to Euro ?
3. What is the function for abstract , adding dates fields ? ( not to take in account a Saturday and not working days ).

Hi Moshe,
For Calender if you any field to which the domain DATUM is assigned it shows calender.
for eg,
select-options date for P0000_AF-hiredate.
You can try the function module to add the days WDKAL_DATE_ADD_FKDAYS.
One of the function modules to convert currency is HR_ECM_CONVERT_CURRENCY

To answer your question specifically
Using ABAP api you cannot call MDM workflows as of mdm 5.5 there are no functions specific to calling MDM workflows in ABAP.If you want to implement workflows on ABAP side you need to go for SAP ECC workflows which is a different topic than MDM>
To call MDM workflows over the Java stack ie WAS (SAP portal),You have 2 ways
- UWL
- Guided Procedures.
- UWL is a way of calling MDM workflows on EP.Wherein the workflow design will be done in MDM and it will only be called in portal using appropiate connections and configurations.

ABAP Object or function module?

Hello all!
I have to create a reusable routine. This routine should be select data from Z table for to get data with a parameter ID. I will pass a ID and expect result a internal table with some parameter values.
So, my question is: What i use for to do that? ABAP Object or function module?
I think that so easy to use function module. Why i should to use ABAP objects? What is positive points in use object and not function module?
For me, both do the same thing... i don't see any difference. Just object is more complicated.
Please, tell me why should i use object??

I would go with Class.

Class would provide you a flexibility of inheritance. E.g. if you want to use the same data selection with little modification in your other applications, you can inherit some other class form this class. Redefine the method, call the Super's method and change the output before sending back to the caller.

(1) what kind of reporting skill a consultant should have?
On top of what has already been proposed, one should also have the skills to build complex ABAP reports by being able to join multiple tables with various logics to arrive at a comprehensive report for the client. In the case of a functional consultant, you must be able to translate a good functional specification for the ABAP programmer to write the program. This is usually required by the client. Simple reporting would commonly not fit the client's requirement, or at least the Management's requirement where they want to see all company's figures summarized in one page.
(2) except for application configuration skill , what other tools we have to use for a project?
Preferbly you should have integration knowledge and skills with various 3rd Party and Partner products used (not only cross-modules integration), i.e. external Pricing tool (for complex pricing calculations), external WM tool, external Transportation Planning tool, mobile application integration tools (currently a trend) etc etc. and how these tools can be integrated to SAP to achieve end-to-end order to cash design. On top of all that, having knowledge and skills in various project management tools is also a plus, i.e. SAP Solution Manager, MS Project, Primavera, Visio tool, ARIS etc. Having these knowledge is important for overall project success too.
