SE37---Functionality
Hi all
Please tell me the functionality of each of the function module that I had listed below.
i) KD_GET_FILENAME_ON_F4
ii) CATS_NUMERIC_INPUT_CHECK
iii) CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT
iv) FI_PERIOD_DETERMINE
With Regards
Vijay
Hi,
1.KD_GET_FILENAME_ON_F4
a.Check existing file is present .
CALL FUNCTION 'KD_GET_FILENAME_ON_F4'
EXPORTING
STATIC = 'X'
CHANGING
FILE_NAME = P_FILE.
2.CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_INPUT
Conversion exit ALPHA, external->internal
ALPHA conversion is used especially with account numbers. During conversion from the external to the internal format, the system checks to see if input in the INPUT field is purely numeric, that is, if this input consists only of numbers, possibly with spaces before and after them. If this is the case, then the number string is inserted right- justified in the display field OUTPUT and all spaces to the left of the value are filled with zeroes ('0'). If the input is not purely numeric, it is inserted in the display field from left to right and all extra spaces are filled with blanks.
Example:
(Input field and output field are both eight characters in length)
1. '1234 ' --> '00001234'
2. 'ABCD ' --> 'ABCD '
3. ' 1234 ' --> '00001234'
Conversion from the internal to the external format (function module CONVERSION_EXIT_ALPHA_OUTPUT) is undertaken in exactly the opposite manner.
3.FM: CATS_NUMERIC_INPUT_CHECK to check for pure numeric
values which will consider the decimal and unit
separator.
Regards,
SHIVA(reward if helpful).

Raj.SHi Raj
Function Modules
Function modules are procedures that are defined in special ABAP programs only, so-called function groups, but can be called from all ABAP programs. Function groups act as containers for function modules that logically belong together. You create function groups and function modules in the ABAP Workbench using the Function Builder.
Function modules allow you to encapsulate and reuse global functions in the SAP System. They are managed in a central function library. The SAP System contains several predefined functions modules that can be called from any ABAP program. Function modules also play an important role during updating and in interaction between different SAP systems, or between SAP systems and remote systems through remote communications.
Unlike subroutines, you do not define function modules in the source code of your program. Instead, you use the Function Builder. The actual ABAP interface definition remains hidden from the programmer. You can define the input parameters of a function module as optional. You can also assign default values to them. Function modules also support exception handling. This allows you to catch certain errors while the function module is running. You can test function modules without having to include them in a program using the Function Builder.
The Function Builder also has a release process for function modules. This ensures that incompatible changes cannot be made to any function modules that have already been released. This applies particularly to the interface. Programs that use a released function module will not cease to work if the function module is changed.

You can execute function module in SE37ie you can perform the activiites defined in the function module by executing it.
By deleting BOM you mention the FM name in se37 and execute. In some function module it will ask input parameters as developed in the program , you have to give the input parameters and execute. -
SE37, Function module test, copy & paste table values ?!?!
Hi all,
if i run a function module test with se37 and want to fill the table values from the clipboard, nothing happens.
There is a button in the Status line called "Insert Data" with the clipboard symbol but it seems not to work...
Anyone here who knows how to solve this ? By the way are there any new transactions for testing function modules, where ALV Grid is used for parameter transfer for the tables ?
Thx....Hi,
If you check that properly it is for INSERT DATE not data so it may be used to insert Dates in date fields i guess.
As it is only for testing FM's, you cannot expect all functionalities there, otherwise you have to write a sample program to check the FM using CALL Function.

NO Authorization error when accessing Functional module RH_CUT_OBJECT
Hi,
I am getting NO AUTHORIZATIOn error when I am executing SE37-->FUNCTIONAL OBJECT-RH_CUT_OBJECT.
I also checked SU53 screenshot which says AUTHORIZATION CHECK SUCCESSFUL and there are no errors or missing authorizations highlighted in SU53.
I switched on the TRACE-ST01 then also the error is not captured.
I would like to know WHY am I getting NO AUTHORIZATION error.
I am already having access to T-CODE SE37, SE11, SE80, SMARTFORMS and authorization object S_DEVELOP.
I need to know this ASAP on why I am getting NO AUTHORIZATION error when I am trying to access the FUNCTIONAL MODULE RH_CUT_OBJECT whereas I am having all the required authorization required for ABAP Developer including SE37.
Is it something I need change at ABAP code level.
Please advise ASAP.The reason is ..You do not have acess to see/acess the data this FM is trying to acess ...Debug the function module keep a breakpoint at The Raise statement see which authorization you do not have ....BTW this is my guess you are trying to demilit certain objects /infotypes using this FM and delimit basically makes that object non-usable in that system .So it is quite evident that every one will not have authorization for that .Please post in detail that what is it that you are trying to achieve using this function module .....
Also you can check with debugging which authority object is being checked before raising the message and can ask security team to get that added to your profile ....
Thanks,

Problem while importing RFC function module in XI. Please Help!
Hi Experts,
When I try to import RFC function module in XI I get the following error:
**Ready for import**
Import started...
YCOP_VALIDATE_GR:
+ com.sap.aii.ibrep.sbeans.upload.RemoteUploadException: connection closed without message (CM_NO_DATA_RECEIVED)
Import failed with 1 error
Any idea why is this error? How to resolve this?
Thanks
GopalHi
The problem still persists.
This is what I have done:
1. My FM is RFC enabled. In the "Attribute" tab of the FM I have selected "Remote-enabled module" and "Start immed".
2.Activated and tested the FM.
3.Released the FM. In se37, Function Module -> Release ->Release.
4.Tried to import this FM in XI under "RFC". Get the same error.
I have some questions:
1. After releasing the FM do I have to activate it?
2. In release there is "Internal Release" Do I have to use that?
3.Do I have to do "Internal Release" first then "Release"?
4.The FM i am trying to import makes a call to another FM. Both the FMs are in the same system. Both are remote enabled. The second FM updates data in custom table. the first FM which I am importing validates the data and then calls the second FM for update. Do I have to import both FMs?
Please help me!
Thanks

ABAP Unit for Function Module(Function Group)
Hi, Gurus:
Can we use ABAP Unit to test Function Module(Function Group).
If can, give me a simple example. how to create methods. Thanks.
Regards,I'm a little unclear about your question, Yunfa.
Do you want to single-test a SE37 function-module? This can be easily done, just hit the F8 button, and it takes you to a single-test environment.
Do you want to test an FM using an ABAP-program? This too is easy to do. To code the FM-call, there's a button called Pattern, in the standard SE38 screen, where you can put in your FM name, and it inserts the relevant code in your program.
Note that if you're testing BAPIs using the single-test environment, the actual document posting will not happen, because that requires a BAPI_COMMIT_WORK call. So, the way to test BAPIs which post documents would be to write an SE38 program, which also calls the commit-bapi.
Hope this answers your question! -

Hi experts
please tell me in SE37 function builder ther we have 7 tabs ,what is the importance of Input Parameretrstab and Output Parameters tab
please tell help meHi Ajay,
Function module:
Input Parameretrstab : These are the input parameters for the function module. In other words its the import parameters based on which you want to manipulate the data. These acts as the input for the function module.
Output Parameters tab: The fields in output parameter tab are the output or the manipulated data after the execution of the function module.

Making Z Function Modules uni code complaint
Hi ,
we are in the process of upgrade to ECC 6.0 and the ABAP programs are have been made uni code complaint
but the Function modules still have uni -code errors they are uni code active so is there a solution whereby we can do soRaghav,
For Function Modules, the corresponding Programs are their Function Groups.
So the Program names start with SAPL followed by the Funciton Group name Zxxxxxxx.
Check the programs for Unicode compatability as the same way it has been done for Custom Programs.
OR
SE37
Function Module Zxxxxxxxxxx
Click 'Display'.
Select 'Attributes'.
Program Name : SAPLZxxxxxxx
Check the programs for Unicode compatability as the same way it has been done for Custom Programs.

SamHi Sam,
Kindly Check table T156SC entries there is a entry missing in the table.
And if required so kindly Maintain the missing entries in table.
If entries of movement type 101 are prefect then
Goto Transaction -- SE37 ,
Function module -- MB_CONTROL_MOVETYPE_GET_SINGLE
Kindly do Set a break point to select statement which is failing at the table above at both the systems. You should be able to crack the error.
Hope this will help you to solve the issue.
And if not Kindly let us know.
