SEARCH FUNCTION IN DISCUSSION GROUP & JULY 11th!!!

Why the **** would APPLE disable the SEARCH function in the Discussion Support Section on what has to be one of their most important day's of the year? They know people will have trouble with the iphone 3g and the other products (I love the iphone...just saying it's a bad time to eliminate such an important feature). Instead of loading the Apple support phone lines and waiting for hours (because people don't want to talk to someone in India or Pakistan for support) people turn to these discussion groups to find quick answers.
I also think they over promised way too much on Friday, July 11th. Their products are no longer just released in the US...it's around the WORLD. I think they need to release it one thing at a time instead of promising too much on one day...Look at the following for July 11th....
1, Release iphone 3g (have to go into the store and activate the phone..big waste of time) (maybe do a lottery online or set up appointments)
2. Release the Applications Store (they could have released it a week or two later or earlier)
3. Release the iphone 2.0 upgrade (could have done the same as #2)
4. They disable the SEARCH FUNCTION in their Support Discussions Group (bad move on such a big day!!)
Not to happy with how APPLE management is working with their consumers. I like to hear your thoughts.

Tamara's response is correct. She has been here at other times when the search function has been disabled.

It wasn't to keep people from posting, it was to make sure this remained available for posting technical issues. In addition the level or reputation indicators under names are also disabled.
Please keep in mind that a polling is outside the Terms of Service for Apple Discussions.

When I use the Norton Safe Search box in Firefox 3.6.19 the letters that I type group together and disappear behind the search button at the end of Norton Safe Search....any help?

I don't know how much more I can add...However, when I type in the Norton Safe Search box up to the search button in Norton Safe Search I can continue to type but I can't see what is being typed because it doesn't allow me to see the trailing end of what I'm typing. This along with the fact that the letters and words don't always automatically advance a space, they group together as I'm typing and I have to stop, provide a space and continue once again. This only happens in Mozilla Firefox, I'm using Firefox 3.6.19. This doesn't happen in the Norton Safe Search Box in Internet Explorer

Maybe another extension that you have installed is causing that problem with that Norton Safe Search add-on.

Disable all other extensions and see if Norton works correctly. 
I so, start enabling extensions one at a time until you find the culprit.
If not, create a new Profile and verify that Norton is the only extension that appears in the new Profile and see if it works correctly.

If not, the problem is with the Norton add-on.

Searching in discussion groups

At this moment 6 discussion groups, dealing with IAS and portal are active. In most cases it's clear in which forum to post, in some others it isn't.
Imagine questions about the style of a portlet of a content area.
Before I post a question, I try (at least most of the time) to find an answer in older threads, but now I have to search several forums on technet (and those on metalink). A search on all technet forums takes too long.
Is it possible to create a search option which allows us to search all portal forums?

I agree. I'm sure you know this anyway, but you can search ALL discussion groups, plus (I think) searching on metalink also searches thru the discussion grps

Problem with discussion group contributor iview

HI,
i created an iview based on "km discussion groups" iview, and changed the default layoutset "DiscussionGroupsContributor" to "myDiscussionGroupsContributor" and removed few command groups in them. so now the end user opens the discussion group through this iview, and when he clicks on one discussion item, it opens a workarea in which he can reply, subscribe to post etc...
at the top, we see a "back button", which will take back to the discussion groups overview screen, but i see all the command groups that i removed, i.e. it is using "DiscussionGroupsContributor" instead of "myDiscussionGroupsContributor" when i click on back button.
any ideas please?

It's always nice to hear when I could be of help when one is trying to solve a problem. You would make me even happier if you would say "Thanks" the SDN-way by using the coloured stars.
But first of all, I would like to let you know how the above UI Command is integrated in the LayoutSet. As you correctly said, it's important to work upgrade safe, and therefore not to change the SAP standard "SingleDiscBackContributor" UI Command, but to duplicate it under your own name.
The LayoutSet "SingleDiscExplorerContributor" references the CollectionListRenderer "SingleDiscHeaderCollectionRendererContributor". This CollectionListRenderer has an attribute "Components" which include the entry "SingleDiscHeaderTitleComponentContributor". If you go to "KM Configuration -> User Interface -> (Show Advanced Options) -> Mapping -> Component" you can search for this Component and see the attribute "Parameters" is set to "SingleDiscUIBackCommandAlias=SingleDiscBackContributor".
So the Component implementation is the one which allows the integration of such "Back" (or sometimes "Edit", etc.) Buttons (UI commands).
To be upgrade safe, you need to duplicate all bold marked KM configuration objects under your own name (my...).

PS: How do I know? I work quite some years now as SAP EP Consultant specialized on KM, and it seems like I was able to gather up some knowledge on this special area
But honestly speaking, I figured this out myself without a special documentation, when I created a new "application" for saving contact data in KM similar to the Collaboration Room Part SAP Contacts. I later presented this on a SDN event and also wrote a <a href="https://weblogs.sdn.sap.com/pub/wlg/2349">Weblog</a> about it.
But actually, I also know about a How To Guide for Customizing Discussion LayoutSet but I'm afraid it's not released yet. I will ask the responsible person from SAP, maybe he can write in this thread what the release plans for this guide are.

Infopath form for sharepoint 2013 lags when searching for person or group.

After implementing a infopath form on sharepoint, the search for person or group column lags when I search for someone the second time. (The first time won't lag). Is there a fix to this? And is there a way to modify the search for person or group function
to sharepoint OOTB person or group search? I think the OOTB one is a lot better. Thanks all.

Search customers by account group

Go to XD03, place your mouse next to Customer and press F4. You will have some options to choose based on which, the customer list will be displayed.
In the said screen, on top right side, you can see two arrows one pointing towards left side and another one pointing towards right side. There is one more button next to arrow pointing right side. Select that in which there is an option [Account group] Place your mouse on that so that you can see customer list based on Account group.
Alternatively, go to SE16, input table [KNA1] and input Account group and execute. You will get the desired result.

How can we have an anonymous 'User i.d." for discussion group posts only?

hi. Here we are asking a stupid Q on very first post. How can we have an anonymous 'User i.d." for discussion group only? Seem to be stuck with our regular old original Apple i.d. I see how that can be changed, but don't really want to cuz just want to have my posts signed with a more anonymous i.d. name. Should be simple to do, but not obvious to us now.

Welcome To  Discussions thelnukus!
The Alias of the account you are using, cannot be changed, but you can create a new Discussions Account, with an Alias that you prefer.
You cannot delete your present account. Just stop using it, after you have created a new one.
You can use all of the same info in the new account, Email address, User name, etc, just be sure to insert a new Alias of your choosing.
But your Level(0), Points(0), Total Posts(2), Total Posts Online(2) and Registered Date(12/19/06), will not be transferred.
In the new account, your Post Counts, Points, & Level Status will all start at 0. Your Registered Date will be the date you create the new account.
Your old account, with your previous counts & level, will still be viewable, under the old Alias.
(You really don't have anything accumulated, to be concerned about though.)
After you quit using the old account, those 2 posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the old account, will show your Old Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
To create a new account,
Log out of Discussions. You also may have to delete the Apple Cookies in your browser preferences, but I'm not sure this is necessary. Then follow either of these instructions.

If you haven't signed up for an Apple ID for the Apple Store or AppleCare Support website (or forgot your old one), you can create a new account on the My Info webpage. Just click the "create one" link on the right side of the My Info page. Choose your country location and preferred language from the appropriate pop-up menus, then click Create Account. In the resulting page, enter a unique name (such as your email address) in the Apple ID field and fill in your other relevant information accordingly (fields marked with * are required). Click Continue to complete the process.
-To register, click Login in the sidebar on the right side of the Discussions page. In the resulting page, click the "create one" link at the bottom of the page, then click "create one" in the subsequent page and follow the instructions to create an Apple ID. For more information, see the Apple ID FAQ page.

Exactly which forum are you trying to post in? There are several and you have to enter one of them to see the "Post New Topic" button.

BSP code - radiobutton - search button

Hello BSP gurus,
Ok, so far I have this piece of code. The idea is to click on a radiobutton and then click on the search button in order to go to the next screen (the result screen).
Does anyone have an idea how to handle this?

I have defined parameters in my read only vo query which has a join condition on multiple tables
Declared bind variables for that with the same name
I have dragged and dropped my params on to th jspx from datacontrol execute with params section and my vo as read only table
Everything is working fine
But when the page loads before i click search button all the results are being displayed
Any idea of what needs to be done

Yikes! How do I stop email from discussion group?

I've searched my settings and I can find nothing to block email from my discussion questions! This is incredible! Not only does Apple try to slip Safari onto my system but it provides no way of not receiving emails from the discussion group!
I haven't subscribed to anything and, even when following the instructions to stop the email (i.e., delete option in "My Subscriptions") I can't because no subscriptions are listed!

I Use Discussion Group layoutset to
creat forum of my Company.
But I can't control the rights of
the guest. I don't want it to post
Message if it had not logon.
I want the guest only have read permission.
So i set the Permisson of the folder to 'only read'
but it doesn't work . I can still post Message
in the forum.
How to make the guest only have rights of read!
If he want to post message he must logon .
How to?

There are many properties in UME of system administration >system configuration> UM configuration>direct editing>property to be configured-->ume.login.guest_user.uniqueids=Guest
and also there are many properties as such give a search on key word guest.After this configuration just restart your server and see giving permissions

What does this mean. The contribution appear to be lost.

Hi Lanky10, welcome to the forums,
if I understand your experience correctly it may be due to the forum time out which I believe is set to 20 minutes; no activity such as clicking on a thread will end your session so as not to distort the members online statistics.
Usually an indicator if this is when the Autosave function throws a message that "an action could not be completed", (or similar). What happens if you go back to the same point to re-post, is there a message similar to the one illustrated below? If yes please select load.

10133 ADF: How to stop search button to execute when there is an error

Hi,
I have two dropdownlists in a search criteria on a search page. The search result is at the bottom of the same page. The two values in the dropdownlists need to be validated when the search button is clicked. The validation logic is put in the searchBtn_action method binded to the search button. In the logic, when an invalid combination happens, I am able to post some error message on top of the page. But how can I stop the application to execute the sql statement? I mean if there is any method I can call to exit if there is an error? Thank you very much.

This is most likely an optimization problem. I know such behaviour existed in the past with some functions and NI usually fixed it in some later release, but the recent changes in the LabVIEW compiler to use LLVM and various optimization improvements may have added this "feature" back in. The default value behaviour is certainly correct and consistent but the behaviour without default value feels not right to me for LabVIEW. In C I would say ok this is simply undefined behaviour and that means the produced code is entitled to even format your harddisk, since C explicitedly says all undefined behaviour is subject to choices by the implementor and is allowed to do whatever the implementor sees fit, including changing behavior between any version of the compiler.
But LabVIEW as a high level language has explicitedly so called default default data, which in this case should be used. Just having read a bit about LLVM I know they are wrestling with C undefined behaviour as well and LLVM being used a backend by several C compilers already has to deal with them. The reason that C explicitedly has many undefined behaviours is to allow various and sometimes significant optimizations, that could not be done, if the C standard would explicitedly require specific behaviour in certain cases (for instance uninitialized variables).
