Search help control size

Hi,
I find it rather annoying and I think it used to be better:
Calling any (user-defined) search help using F4 I always get a dialog control almost covering the full screen height - regardless of the number of entries shown.
Is there any way, i.e. in the search help exit DIS step to control the size of the control created?
Could not find it in the forum.
Thanx for useful hints.
Regards,
Clemens

There are two related posts that suggest that it's not feasible:
Search help output window re-size
Increase standard pop up size
It might be possible in a custom report if you program F4 call yourself.

    Hi Experts,
Is there any  OVS Search Help control we can use in Online Interactive Form as a as we have in Web Dynpro java. Can we assign this search help to any existing control.
If it is not possible can we call a Web Dynpro View as a popup from Intefactive Form such that field search can be done in popup window and on selection the resultant record should populate to Interactive Form control.

  • Search Help - No of entries returned

    Hello ,
I am working on a search Help exit and noticied that  even we change the Value assigned to Parameter " Maximum no of Hits"  to 9999 system brings backonly 1st 5000 entries. Somehow SAP is controlling that. I tired to change CALLCONTROLL-MAXRECORDS TO 5000 in Debug Mode also but still get's only 5000 entries.
anyone knows about a OSS note or something written somewhere in R/3 Library about this limitation.
    Thanks
    L

    Hi Lakhbir,
Check the Note "Note 172687 - Collective note: search help control".
Restrictions on the length of the hit list
The number of the entries that the search help control
displays on its hit list is limited to a sensible number
of entries for a search help (5000).
Increasing the length of the hit list causes serious
performance and stability problems in the control
used for displaying. If you need a hit list with more
than 5000 entries switch to the usual search help
    frontend:
Switching between R/3 dialog and ActiveX support
It is possible to toggle the support of the search
help by the search help control according to your needs.
To do this there are three setting options:
Search help with ActiveX - support
Search help without ActiveX - support
    System settings
The system settings are valid for all clients and
are defined by the administrator. To do this, the
    administrator profile must contain the
    authorization object 'S_ADMI_FCD' and
the ID 'S_ADMI_FCD' with the 'F4MX' FIELD.

  • Multiple Selection of Search Help

    Hi Guys,
    I've read SAP's note that:
Multiple selections in the search options is not supported when you use the search help control. If you need these selections, you can also use the list mode SAP GUI for HTML:
Select the 'Help->Settings ->F4 Help' menu option to access the dialog box where you must then choose 'In modal R/3 dialog box' as the display option.
However, this setting is only user-specific. Is it possible to make it system-specific? i.e. enable it for all users?
    THanks,
    Zhenmin

    Hello ZhenMin,
Yes, you can make it the system default or change it for all users by doing the following:
    1. to make "Dialog (modal)" the system default go to SU52, Parameters and then add parameter name "F4METHOD" with a value of "NoActiveX"
    2. to change the value for the current users go to table USR05 and change the value of the field "F4METHOD" to "NoActiveX".

  • Search help selection doesn't transfer the value

    Hi.
I have a strange situation. I have created a search help on a custom view. The results and everything is populated correctly in result but when i select the value it is not transferred to the input field. I have marked the field as exporting parameter so that it should go to input field but no avail.
This search help is part of a collective search help and parameters of collective serach helpmatch with my custom additional search help. Both places the output field is marked as export parameter.
    Any help would be appreciable.
I serached for notes: Note 571027 - Search help control: no values copied and note: 701123.

  • Search Help Hit List Max 5000

    Hi gurus,
How i can display search help hit list more than 5000 because the system display max. 5000 only
    regards,
    Next.

    Hi,
Try this options mentioned in the SAP note
In the initial screen HELP --> Settings . Go to the tab F4 Help . Go to change mode and choose "Dialog" instead of "Control".
Now for F4 help you will get a check box "No restriction". Use this Check box and try again.
I guess performance will be seriously affected
    Refer these SAP notes
Note 487689 - Search help control: Restrictions
Note 163738 - Hit List does not display more than 5000 values.

  • HELP! Controlling size and position of new window from applet

I am totally new to using java. I am making use of a java applet for showing images. Each image may be clicked to open a higher res image in a new window. I want to be able to control the size and position of the new window. The windows need to be different sizes for each image - a couple may be the same size but some will be different.
    I found this:
<<<<Yes it can (but not after the window has been created). JavaScript can open documents in a new (or an old) window with eg.
    <script>
    window.open("document.url", "window_name", "toolbar=no,statusbar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=no,width=600,height=400");
    </script>
The new window will have only the title bar and the frame around the document, nothing else.
That can be made a function and called from an applet through liveconnect.>>>>
from a search re window sizes but I need more explicit help with how to put it into my document! This looks like it might work with the exception it doesn't give a position but I could even live without that.
Am I correct in assuming tha this script goes in the <head> of the document? If I have several different sizes, I would need to have several different but similar scripts but with different window names?
Do I substitute the actual url where it says "document.url"? What about "window_name"? And what does liveconnect mean?
Here is a sample from the applet coding I have in place:

Please, I hope someone can help with this! This is driving me crazy!
Thanks to anyone who can walk me through this one!

  • Search help (PREM) for personal no. is not coming in ALV grid table control

    hi experts,
Search help (PREM) for personal no. is not coming in ALV grid table control.
i have assigned the srch help (prem) to my 'ZFIEXP_PROJALLOC' table for the emp_id.
but in output it is now showing the help.
    ls_fcat-fieldname = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-ref_table = 'ZFIEXP_PROJALLOC'.
      ls_fcat-ref_field = 'EMP_ID'.
      ls_fcat-outputlen = '10'.
      ls_fcat-key = 'X'.
      ls_fcat-edit = 'X'.
      ls_fcat-coltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-seltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      append ls_fcat to pt_fieldcat.
      clear ls_fcat.
Then i tried to solve it using the PA0002 . ie.,
    ls_fcat-fieldname = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-ref_table = 'PA0002'.
      ls_fcat-ref_field = 'PERNR'.
      ls_fcat-outputlen = '10'.
      ls_fcat-key = 'X'.
      ls_fcat-edit = 'X'.
      ls_fcat-coltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      ls_fcat-seltext = 'EMPLOYEE CODE'.
      append ls_fcat to pt_fieldcat.
      clear ls_fcat.
with this it is showing the help in employee code, but, when i click on an empl number, it is not added to my table control and allowing me to add the number by typing them.
    plz help me.
    thanks.

    Hi
In the layout give layout-sel_mode  = 'A'.  and
pass  'A'    to  i_save  exporting parameter to method  set_table_for_first_display.
The same thing if you are working with function module
    reuse_alv_grid_display.

  • Search help for table control input value

    Hi,
We have designed a GUI for supply invoice approval workflow with table control.
In the table control fields, we assigned one search help on one field.
We can enter the values(F4 Help) up 8 row in the default screen, which is having 8 row.
After scrolling down for 9th row, I am not getting any F4 help, which I am able to get upto 8 rows.
Please any one could help me in this...

    Hi,
Did you assign the search help to the <b>Search Help</b> of the <b>Attributes -> Dictionary</b> tab of the field?
Irrespective of scrolling, the F4 help should work for the field in table control.

I can't remove Bing. I've tried Control Panel, the article "Removing the Search Helper Extension and Bing Bar," and I have had no luck for Windows 7 and Firefox.
I wish I could share the two screen shots I took, but this question site doesn't have the option, so I guess I'll describe where Bing is showing up.
In the left hand of my browser, just to the right of the back and forward arrows, there is speech bubble with a black eye ball or something. I found out it's Bing-related by clicking on it. There is no option to remove it with either left or right clicking on it.
Also, in the right hand corner of my browser, at the very end of all my tabs, there is a white rectangular box with an orange "b" and a magnifying glass symbol. It will not respond to anything I try to do to it either, but if clicked it opens a new tab with a Bing search dialogue box.
Finally, any new tab I open automatically opens to the Bing search dialogue box (versus Google).
I need to get specific, step-by-step instructions for removing this Bing stuff from my computer. As I said, I have already gone through all steps outlined in the article I mentioned above as well as not been able to locate Bing in my control panel.
Please help. I'm certain others are having this same issue. I use Windows 7 and Firefox. Thanks.

Apologies for the formatting there. No idea what went wrong...

  • Search Help for a Field of a Table Control

I have designed a screen using 'Table Control' with fields like Date, BoxNo,Quantity etc. Kindly tell me how to go about providing a search help for the field 'BoxNo' of this table control so that the user is not required to scroll down the entire table/list for selecting a particular box no.
    Thanx in advance,
    Alok.

When you go to screen painer, in screen painter attributes window, there is an atribute called search help, fill it.
Another way is, after PAI put:
    PROCESS ON VALUE-REQUEST.
      FIELD box_no MODULE f1_help_box_no.
And gives logic in that module using FM F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST.
