Search index problem

One of my clients is having a strange Oracle Text problem (oracle 8), and I would be greatful for any help.
Essentially, I have built a context index on a table as follows:
drop index search_partner_name;
create index search_partner_name on PARTNER(NAME)
indextype is ctxsys.context;
The PARTNER table contains many other columns.
Now, when one of the other columns is modified (e.g. PARTNER.URL) I can no longer search for the PARTNER.NAME until I rebuild the index.
I understand that I have to rebuild the index if I create a new PARTNER.NAME row, but rebuilding for updates to non-indexed columns seems a little strange.
Any pointers?

Hello Phil
In order to limit a Search iView to a specific index(es), create a Search Options set and assign it to your iView.
To create a Search Options Set, go to System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > User Interface > Search (advanced options) > Search Options Set.  The parameter to pay attention to in a Search Options Set for this specific purpose is the Search Index IDs (or Index Groups, depending on how you want to limit the search).
Then, to assign the new Search Options Set to your Search iView, open the iView for editing in the Portal Content Directory, and enter the name of your Search Options Set in the corresponding iView parameter.
Hope this helps!

  • Search & index problem! (A setting missing I think!)

    Hi All
I have created a file system repository to display the content of our HR policy documents. I have then created an index to search and classify the documents and I have moved them into there area in the Taxonomy structue. However when I search I seem to get the results from more than one index and I have no idea why?
    Can anyone help
    Thanks Phil

  • Searching/Indexing Problems

I'm on 10.5.8 and I have an external RAID that houses about 30GB of sound effects, a lot of which are in folders, but are in one large folder labeled, "Sound Effects". Problem is that for some reason when I want to search for a certain effect in a finder window using the search bar, it won't locate anything in the sound effects folder even though I know there are many in there by the name I'm searching for (i.e. car horn, etc...) Even when I choose the search location for the top directory (Sound Effects) as opposed to "Computer", etc. I have the same folder copied on a portable drive and I have no problems accessing from the search bar on that drive from a different computer.
What's happening? This RAID has been hooked up for a couple years. Is it not indexing the folder contents or something? I can't figure it out.
    Thanks,
    Eddie

I called Apple and higher level tech was able to solve my problem by telling me how to have Spotlight re-index the drive.
Test your search in Spotlight and see if it works (mine didn't) and if Spotlight fails also that may be your problem.

  • Problem in while creating text search index

    saby

Looks like you don't have a lexer called GLOBAL_LEXER, but you're trying to use it in the create index statement.
Maybe it's owned by someone other than the current user - or maybe you meant to write WORLD_LEXER.
Perhaps you could paste the whole index creation script here.

    Hi,
I think Probably what has failed is some inner kind of operation that didn't handle the exception correctly, that is dropping the offending object automatically and it issue is raised (error). Therefore you'll have to manually drop the index and re-create the desired index (that might solve your problem)

  • Z-index problems in IE6

i managed to get IE6 to use z-indexes and layer properly..
everything that is except form elements specifically combo boxes
    appear above my dropdown menus...??

This is not a z-index problem. It's due to the way that combo
    elements are
drawn to the screen. There are only two solutions that I know
    of -
    1. Redesign the form so that there is no conflict, or
    2. Hack the menu code so that the combo element is hidden
    when the menu is
    opened.

  • Search indexing not working in Outlook PST files

My boss recently got Office 2010 on his new laptop.  I copied his PST's from his old laptop whihc had Office 2003 on it to the new one and added them to his profile.  They are there and look to be workign fine, until you try any sort of search
    on them.
If I am looking at the eMails in the PST and I see a whole lot from
[email protected] and then in the search box I type
[email protected] the emails are all firltered away and I am told that there are no items that match the criteria.  This also happens when I try try to run an advanced search.
    So according to this post,
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/outlook/thread/b1859770-dfb5-4224-995f-be828bd21333, I disabled Indexing of outlook, then search stops working on my default location, i.e. if I search my inbox or anything in that datafile, I get
no results returned, but if I search one of the archieve PST files for say
[email protected] the search runs for ages with out retunring any results, if I stop the search and then rerun it then I get results.
It just seems a bit strange that I have to choose iether or.
Please help ASAP as my boss leave tomorrrow on a trip to Australia and I would like to get this sorted out be fore he leave.
    Regards
A user needs the admin password like nitro glycerine needs a good shake.

This seems to be an ongoing problem. The instant search feature in Outlook 2010 is not working correctly for a large number of users. I have read many, many posts here in TechNet and many more that come up with a Google search. None of the solutions provided
    are permanently solving the problem.
I have tried every potential solution I have found:
Rebuilding the index did not work
The registry key(s) PrevenIndexingOutlook, PreventIndexingEmailAttachments, did not exist (the Search Key did not exist). I tried adding both keys in 2 different suggested locations (HKCU and HKLM) Search indexing did not work with or without those keys
    added.
I have tried everything that I have found everwhere to resolve this problem. I found one solution that appeared to work a month or so ago. Unfortunately, I cannot find it again and no new emails have been added to the index since that day (09/15/2010).
I tried rebuilding the index (again). This process has removed all of the emails from the index that had been there after I applied the fix that seemed to work. I am continuing to research this problem in the hope that I will find that previous partial solution.
It would be nice to get some feedback from Microsoft to let us know if this problem is being looked into. All of the solutions provided from Microsoft on these forums have failed to correct this long term problem.
FYI: I am running Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) and Office Professional Plus 2010. These were fresh installs, not upgrades. After installation the instant search feature in Outlook was working, I do not know exactly when it stopped working.

  • Search Index hangs on large files

I am using the 6.1 SP4 Web Server on Windows XP. I have the default search application working. My problem is adding MS Word documents to the collection. Word documents of the size 25KB work, but when I add a large Word document 6934KB it just hangs with no CPU activity going on.
Is there a work around or a parameter that needs to changed to allow larger sized files to be indexed in the collection?

I'm not sure what's going wrong, but you may want to try increasing the amount of memory the search indexer is allowed to use. To do this, you'll need to modify the searchadmin.bat batch file. You can find it in your Web Server's bin\https\bin subdirectory.
First, make a backup copy of searchadmin.bat. Next, open searchadmin.bat in a text editor and replace "-Xmx128m" with "-Xmx1024m". This will allow the search indexer to use up to 8x more memory.
Please let us know whether this helps.

  • How to create search index files for Java Pet Store

    Hi All,
As you may know, the java pet store application uses for the search function a search index object, which itself uses the following files '_36.cfs', 'deletable', 'segments'.
Now as I want to change the data of the database (delete some pets, and names, etc.), it does not have an effect on the search results. This is because the application uses the search index files and does not use the database for the search query.
So can anybody help me and tell me how I can create this three files from my *.sql file, so I can search in my own data?
Thank you very much for your help.

    Wolfgang

    Solved:
I had the same problem. It seems that the installer does not unzip three files where it should.
With NetBeans (Using File Perspective) or just editing build.xml
Netbeans: select build.xml/Run Target/Other Targets/unzipindexes: Tough it should work it fails in resolving $javaee.domaindir$ at least in my system, but it does suscessfully create a new directory named ${jee.domaindir} that includes lib/petstore/searchindex and three files: _36.cfs , deletable, segments.
Copy those three files to your_glasshfish_path/domains/domain1/petstore/searchindex.
Now you are done. I hope that you had a nice time while waiting two years for it to be answered. How is it that it is not answered anywhere else?
    Regards,
    Ramon Talavera
www.sciencetechworks.comThanks. I didn't wait 2 years for this, but I just replied on a 2 year old post. I only recently tried the petstore app. I thought I needed to study lucene first to figure things out, it turns out there was an 'internal target' on the build file for this. Thanks a bunch!

  • Text Search Index

    Hi Gurus,
In text search index is there any way to know which documents are indexed and which are not.
    thanks in advance
    saby

Actually, I was thinking of using autonomous_transaction at the time in a proc that is called by the trigger as follows:
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE z_sync_idx
    IS
    PRAGMA AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION;
    BEGIN
    ctx_ddl.sync_index('Z_TEST_IDX');
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER z_test_trig
AFTER INSERT OR UPDATE OR DELETE ON z_test
    FOR EACH ROW
    BEGIN
    z_sync_idx;
    END z_test_trig;
My logic was flawed however. This does work for those items marked as pending on insert...the problem is the commit for the current insert hasn't happened yet, therefore, it is not marked as pending. Inserting into the table does kick off the triggger, but doesn't sync the current record as a result.
Looks like we're back to the job...

  • TREX: indexing problem

    Hi,
I'm trying to configure TREX in our portal. I've created an index (search index) and I've assigned data to index (html files and pdf files).
When I test the indexing process in the TREX Monitor, I always see that some pdf files aren't indexed. I assign them to index again and again, but they aren't indexed. I get "Preparation Failed" for these documents and the indexing process doesn't continue (it seems that it stops).
What can it be the cause?
    Thanks in advance,
    Samantha.

    Hi,
There is no need to create new repository. You can add that folder as "Data Source" to Index. Then all files and folders under that folder will automatically indexed.
    Please follow the below steps.
    1. Create a new Index.
    2. Add folder (Whatever you created) as "Data Source" to index.
    3. Save data source.
Now you can get all your documents indexed.
Here note one points. You will not get all the documents indexed immidiately. This will depend on your TREX load.
Other wise if you want it immediately flush the particular index.
    1. Logon to portal as Administrator
    2. Navigate to 'System Administrator' -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> Cache Monitor
    3. Note the System ID of you local system from combo box under System ID
    4. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service -> System Landscape Definations -> Systems -> Content Management System
    5. Check that the same System ID Should be there. If not there please add it by clicking on button 'New'
    6. Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Service ->Scheduler Tasks -> Index Management Task Queue Reader
    7. Open "IndexServiceTaskQueueReader" for editing
    8. Add the same system ID under "System ID"
I think this will solve your problem

  • Strange interaction with Win 7 search indexing?

This is probably a red herring - but just in case:
I am running new ACR 5.7, new DNG converter, LR 2.7, LR 3 Beta2, and Photoshop CS4 on a Dell M70 notebook with 2 Gb ram running Win 7.  I have been working on a presentation on HDR technique so I have been shuffling files in various fomats (including DNG) in, out, and between apps but mostly in and out of PS CS4.  Things went unstable and CS4 and/or the Photomatix plugin would run out of memory doing things I had done minutes before.  I turned on task manager and discovered that when I closed Photoshop memory in use did not drop!  The commit was stuck at 1.7 Gb and the CPU (this is a single core machine) was running 70+% on searchfilterhost.exe.  A Google search turned up references to a beta DNG file codec as a possible problem.  Hence this post.  I have since told the disk indexing functions to ignore DNG files and shut off content indexing at the drive level.  With indexing shut off everything is back to normal.  I will turn the indexing back on with the DNG files off.  If that works I will later turn the properties indexing for DNGs back on.  If this yields any useful (as in repeatable) info I will post an update.
Kudos for the much improved NR in LR3!  Sam

The problems with the DNG beta codec have been reported elsewhere:
http://forums.adobe.com/thread/557831 and in other forums that I can't place.
I encountered the same issue and replaced the beta codec with a third party set of codecs.  These opened dng and the latest Canon RAW files both in vista/win7 and in XP SP3 and resolved the indexing problem.  Cost about USD6.  I'm not advertising the product so you should search yourself if you want to go that way.

  • Table attribute assignments / indexing problem

Appears that in the out of the box Ultra Search setup Oracle overrides the basic assignments of attributes. For example if I assign Author search attribute to table field auth , it gets overriden and indexed from what was in the meta data field of the incoming document. If pdf or other doc type it uses that author meta data field of doc instead of what attribute assignment I made. Is this just for this version and the next version will have the option? It appears that no matter what, the override happens. Any help or suggestions in this attribute assignment and indexing problem?

This is a bug in 1.0.3 and has been fixed in 9.0.2 and 9.2.

  • Search Option Set does not exclude Search Indexes

    Hello!
    We are running NW04 SPS15
I've created a Search Option set, and in the "Search Index IDs (CSV)" property I've listed the one index Id I would like to search.
My problem is that when I submit the search, TREX returns documents which are NOT in the list of Index ID's.
    Any suggestions??
    Regards,
    Ove

    Hi HC
The settings you have entered in the search options set needs a place to be stored - a search component. Try creating a search component set with standard_search_input in Component for Basic Search Function and standard_search_scope (storage for the index restriction from the search options set) in Component for Search Options, use it along with the search options set in your search iview, and see if it works.
Try swapping the position of the two search components in the search component set and notice the change in your search results.
    Regards,
    Martin
