Search Integration Issue - Portal 10.2

Hi All,
I am trying to integrate Search in weblogic portal 10.2.
After some trials , i was able to search the published content in the admin console.
And if any content is created , that content is getting indexed ,,I have seen from following URL.
http://localhost:9014/action=list
But the problem is
I want to integrate this search facility in my portal application.
And this search has to search the list of pages in the portal apllication.
How this can be acieved , because content is dynamically populating in my portal application using content selectors.
Simply:
If I am searching with the word "xyz" in my application , It has to display the list of pages in the application containing the text "xyz".
Because content is getting displayed using content selectors.
Thanks & Regards,
Srinivas

pls suggest me, how to display search results which points to application pages , which satisfies search criteria , as we wll get in Google.Hi Srinivas,
as Brad already pointed out, this is a complicated problem in the case of portal and cms, mostly due to the fact that there is no out of the box glue layer between cms hierarchy and portal hierarchy. Because of personallization, content selectors, etc. it is not a one-to-one mapping. However, this is merely a technological issue and a business requirement similar to yours keeps popping up in real world projects including a few of the ones I've been involved with. There are some workarounds, but so far I've not come up with a "perfect" solution. I would <strong>love</strong> to hear from someone who has an elegant solution.
One approach is to define a "home" location in the portal hierarchy for a piece of content in CMS using metadata. A simplistic approach to this would be to e.g. set a metadata attribute that specifies the instance label of a page that is guaranteed to have a portlet that displays the content item. A variation is to use a CMS site hierarchy (or folder hierarchy) that mimics the portal book/page hierarchy. The "home" location in this case can be deduced from the CMS hierarchy. As you will notice, both of these approaches require that CMS is kept in sync with the portal hierarchy. Also, if you have multiple desktops and reuse a piece of content across them you need to modify this scheme with additional metadata and/or site hierarchy setup. Yet another approach is to have a separate mapping layer that maps the content node id's and/or hierarchies to portal hierarchy. This mapping layer can be anything from a properties file to an elaborate DB based application...
With these approaches when you get a search result node you need to retrieve either the metadata item or the folder hierarchy or the mapping layer translation and then set up a page change event to take the user to the proper page.
One of the many issues with these approaches is that when you move content display portlets around you need to update stuff elsewhere (CMS or mapping layer). Depending on your content display portlet mechanism you can also consider setting a portlet preference that points to a cms folder or node. You can then traverse the desktop hierarchy using presentation contexts while extracting the cms contexts from the portlet properties. This way you can semi-automatically create a cms-to-portal mapping which serves as a lookup table for the search results. Obviously, this time around the challenge is keeping the portlet preferences in synch when stuff is moved around on the cms side :) To overcome this, you would probably need to hook into the content events inside the repository and modify the portlet preferences on the fly when stuff is moved around. This would be quite hard core in my opinion and I've never gone that far in a real world project....
Summa summarum: there are no low-hanging fruits here, but what you describe can (and has been) achieved to a certain degree with some serious admin/management headaches. Sometimes the business requirement is set in concrete and it overrides the admin concerns :)
Hope this helps, I'll be happy to elaborate on the thoughts above since this is one of my pet peeves when doing architectural design for a new portal project :D
Best regards,
Petri

    Hi Edward,
Can you clarify on your statement "You can run 3.x queries normally". I am currently declaring the bex web application string in the BW iview created in this format "infocube=0D_FI_C01&query=0D_FI_C01_Q001" and i am not defining the report template anywhere in the iview properties but still the standard template is displayed.
Pls let me know how to run 3.x queries normally.
Also i am trying to integrate only reports which are developed for BW 3.x format in BI system but still the data is not displayed.
Pls let me know incase the SP level of both EP and BI portal are to be considered for this.
EP 7 portal is on SP9 where as BI 7 is on sp12.
Also i noticed the EP portal doesn't have BI Java Addon. will this matter for displaying reports in BW 3.x format.
As you suggested workaround i tried to create a url iviews directly taking the links from the reports displayed in BI portal , i was able to preview the report but when i added those iview reports to role, the reports are constantly loading as it is trying to contact BI system. There are being loaded constantly with nothing displayed on screen.

Columns Scrolled for Each Step (BLOCK_COLUMNS_STEP_SIZE)
Rows Scrolled for Each Step (BLOCK_ROWS_STEP_SIZE)
The values of these two properties have to be changed in the Web Template you are using for your BI Reports.

  • Use of Application Integrator in Portal 7.01

  • Project systems integration with portal (EP)

    Dear all,
I have to integrate the projects systems module with Portal.(EP)
In portal transactional I views can be used to create projects which can be store in the R/3.
Now the issue is to create projects with out using Transactional I views. This should be a simple entry through portal, where in the user keys in the key fields and there by the project is created and scheduled.
For this I have tried with using business packages given by SAP to integrate with portal.
Now the issue is I can display the projects that are created in R/3 through portal and display the necessary fileds required for viewing (I views). Now the main problem is to create the project using these business packages so that the same get updated in the R/3.
But business packages do not have the option of creating the project. I am using the business packages for projects 50.3.1
Has any body come across this type of issue which has to be integrated with portal and subsequent creation of projects through portal
If any body has done this in any other way please kindly share on this.
Experts please throw some pointers on this.

    Hi Matt,
You didn't mention but do you also wish to install the database(8i) on the same machine ?
I am also trying to install all these products(+8i and designer 6i) on the same box but I am concerned more about the min. resources needed before I get started.(I put up a question about it on the 6i Forum, but nobody has answered yet !)
The correct install order should be Forms/Reports 6i then Forms/Reports 6i Server and then WebDb 2.2.
Forms /reports server needs a http listener and installs en configures the WebDb listener for the job.(you are prompted for this during tho have the install process). This is handy if you are intending to use WebDb anyway. When you install Webdb it detects the already installed WebDb listener and does not reinstall.
You do have the SYS password on the database you will use to stored the WDK and WebDb schema.
    About installing the demo.....
I dont' think there are any special issues.I have never done it.
If you are intending to install an 8i database on the same box there are some important things to consider with respect to the install order and what products in which Oracle home must be installed.
    1.Forms/Reports first in the default_oracle
    home.
    2.Then Oracle 8i in a 2nd oracle home call
    it ora81 for example.
3.Then WebDb in the non oracle 8i home !!
This is just a quick summary.
If you run into any problems let me know
    Good Luck.

  • OIM - SOA 11g R1  Integration Issue

    Hi ,
I am facing an integration issue in my newly set up Dev environment .
We have single node OIM and SOA environment . I was executing the basic connectivity checks to ensure that the environment is good and ready for use .
When I ran the SOA-OIM Configuration test (http://i.tinyuploads.com/M1zyaP.jpg ) in the environment from Diagnostic Dashboard, it failed .
I have verified the URLs from EM and also in MDS (in oim-config.xml) file . All entries seem to be there , not sure why its failing ? Any pointers ??
I have checked the rmi and soap urls here Application Defined MBeans ->oracle.iam->Server (OIM ServerName)->Application:oim->XML Config->Config->XMLConfig.SOAConfig->SOAConfig  and they looked perfectly fine .
    Any clues ??
    Regards

did you tried accessing the oim and soa urls:
    1. http://<hostname>:<port>/oim (login with xelsysadm user)
    2. http://<hostname>:<port>/soa-infra (login with weblogic user)
Are you able to login to both urls.

  • BI Integration in Portal (Where to configure Port, problems with km-integr)

    Hello,
I am new to BI and started to integrate BI into the portal or rather tried it.
When I open my Bex-Excel-Workbook and try to create a document (right mouse -> jump -> documents) an error occurs that the service is not reachable. This is because of an wrong port.
Could someone tell me where I can change the port that he is using when the portal is called out of excel?
Changing the port in the browser I am facing some other problems like (sorry I don't know how to translate it exactly):
Properties for the assignment couldn't be provided
Could not determinate repository for documents with this property typ

Has someone an idea how to investigate this problem? could it be because of the wrong port and where to configure the port?

  • Searching ifs via portal thru use of URL ?

I was recently told by my customer that someone from Oracle told
him you could create some sort of a URL inside portal to ifs
that would allow you to search ifs via portal.
I am not aware of anything like this. Can anyone out there shed
some light on this? Can this be done?
    Thanks.

    Hi Grigoria,
You can open a browser with the function module CALL_BROWSER. Giving the BSP URL, you will be able to call your BSP application from ABAP code.
Alternatively, you can embed your BSP application within SAPgui with an HTML control. Please check demo program CNHTTST1 for a code sample.

  • Regd : Integration Between Portal Layer And Process Layer

    Hi Experts,
I have a query regarding the integration between Portal layer and the process layer in CE. How does the interaction happens or what is the process behind the integration of these two layers. I was going through some help documents at help.sap.com.
But from there I could not get much of information. So need your inputs on the same.
    Thanks
    Pradipta Kumar Mishra

    Hi Pradipta,
If you are referring to Guided Procedures as the "Process Layer", then you have one of the three options that I can think of:
    1) Deliver the GP processes via UWL in CE Portal
    2) Deliver the GP processes via UWL in EP (if your organization has one)
    3) Delvier the GP processes via GP Runtime in CE Portal
Of the three mentioned above, option 2 is preferred since your business users get to access their tasks via a single interface. But you need a EP. If that's not the case, I would suggest Option 1. For integrating GP and UWL, please refer to following link.

  • How to use PPM 5 (standalone or integrated with portal)

    Hi,
I would like to know which advantages and disadvantages are presented by using PPM 5.0 standalone or integrated with portal? all functionality are the same in both cases? which is the best option?
    Thanks a lot,
    CAMILO URIBE

    Hi,
from a functionality point of view, standalone and portal usage of SAP Portfolio and Project Management 5.0 are the same (except functionality which is in general only available within a portal, e.g. KM documents, collaboration rooms, etc.).
From a TCO perspective, for the standalone usage you'll only need the ABAP stack (except for ADS), i.e. if you don't anyway already have a portal in use in your company, this could lead to a lower TCO.
    Kind regards,

      $searchword = $search;
      $query_props = "SELECT * FROM props WHERE id LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR name LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR description LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR colour LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR type LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR size LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR weight LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR value LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR location LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR sublocation LIKE '%".$searchword."%' OR BC LIKE '%".$searchword."%'";

    $props = mysqli_query($con, $query_limit_props) or die(mysql_error());
    $row_props = mysqli_fetch_assoc($props);
    ?>

You have a lot of problems with your script below. First of all, you are using isset() incorrectly. The isset() function only tests if the field is set, not if it is empty. So even if the user doesn't enter anything, if the field is on the form it is set.
Next, why are you copying the value of one variable into another variable - $searchword = $search; ? What does that accomplish?
Finally, the argument you are passing to mysqli_num_rows() is a single row. You need to pass it the result set.
Fixed the main search bar issue, but still having problem with the num_row statement
Warning: mysqli_num_rows() expects parameter 1 to be mysqli_result, array given in /home4/mresnik/public_html/props_inventory.phpon line 47

      $query_search = "SELECT * FROM props";

    Hi,
I know that Discoverer viewer can be integrated within Portal fairly easily. But, i wanted to know how to integrate Discoverer Plus (witch offers more options) within Portal. Did anyone attempt that successfully? And how?
    Best regards

we have tried integrating 1 sample application in portal by creating a BSP iview and it took some features of portal theme.\
I hope if we could change the whole portal theme through theme editor, all the CRM applications will take portal theme.
we will just integrate the first page of webclient with the portal through BSP iview. is this approach correct or I am missing something.

  • Automatic login the search robot into portal

Does anybody know how to automatically login the search robot into portal using LDAP authentification? I would love to index and search content of the portal.
    Maros.

In most cases the content of the portal consists of content on other webservers. The idea is to spider these sites and then the URL rewriter will rewrite the URL's when going through the Gateway.
In case of f.i. Fatwire another scheme is needed where an indexer robot reads the content directly from the database (through fatwire API) and then calculates the link for the entry.

    regards,

    Hi! Jaish!
First you need to check that Httpserver have been installed on the TREX server, this service its the anchor beetween Portal, Java Applications, and Trex Server, one proof is  check this URL
    http://<YOUR SERVER>:30005/TREXHttpServer/TREXISAPIExt.dll?CMD=PING
if this doesnt work, check this thread https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=53149 to configure HttpServer... or search more information about Trex HttpServer
Then you need what others has said to you... set the nameserver on portal machine, using visual administration.
    Hope its help.
